Chef Matt McCallister Will Open a Restaurant at Downtown’s New Virgin Hotel | Eater Dallas

"A later Oak Lawn restaurant from the same chef that has earned praise from both critics and diners, representing his current, well-regarded iteration following the closure of his earlier ventures." - Amy McCarthy

What to Order at Homewood, Matt McCallister’s Brand New Restaurant | Eater Dallas

"After the chef’s lauded experimental run at FT33, this casual, cozy Oak Lawn spot channels the same funky, preservation-obsessed approach into approachable, comfort-forward cooking. Highlights range from fluffy Parker House rolls served with a rich, cheesy mornay to a Saucisson Sec of peppery French saucisson and house focaccia topped with razor-thin lardo, balanced by pickled gherkins, mustard-spiked aioli and a fermented turnip–sesame salt inspired by togarashi. A tomato-focused plate layers rehydrated sundried tomatoes in vinegar mixed with dill seeds, halved tomatoes and plums, aerated olive oil, basil from the on-site garden and powdered tomato skins and aromatics for a punchy finish, while a raw Spanish mackerel dish pairs rectangular slices of fish with smoked corn aioli, pickled ramps, serrano, lime and a hoja santa leaf from the garden. The lamb fusilli showcases labor-intensive technique—whole-lamb breakdown, searing to build fond, braising with tomatoes and aromatics, and house-extruded, rough-edged fusilli that clings to the lamb ragu—finished with torn mint and Romano. Desserts from the pastry chef who followed the chef include a dark chocolate popcorn torte of dense chocolate cake, Valrhona Caramelia crémeux, airy mousse and vanilla cream, and shards of malted caramel popcorn brittle for crunchy contrast." - Eater

I travel frequently for work across the United States and Canada, and the Hilton Oak Lawn in the Chicago area is one of my absolute favorite hotels. The rooms are spacious and incredibly comfortable, making it easy to relax after a long day of travel. The staff is always welcoming and attentive, going above and beyond to make every stay enjoyable. The on-site restaurant is outstanding—honestly, 10/10—and the gym and pool are top-notch, perfect for keeping up with my routine while on the road. I genuinely look forward to traveling to Chicago for work just so I can stay at this property. As a fun bonus, having the REAL slot machines downstairs adds a unique touch that makes the stay even more memorable. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area! Update.... Although I'm giving them this glowing review which is well deserved, I do have to admit I'm saddened that they are now charging a 20% "service fee" at the restaurant downstairs. Thats a total of 40% if you leave a 20% tip. I may start eating elsewhere when visiting this hotel.

Stayed here a few times. Watch out for the $75 per night fee when booking but you get that back. But not all of it becouse they find ways to keep it. $15 to park in there lot over night. When there ad on Google says FREE parking. Don't do breakfast over $20 a person. When told it was free from the desk. Each time there's something messed up take your concerns to the front desk or management does nothing. One time it Smells like weed in the elevator and all over the floor. Even in the middle of the night the weed smell was coming from the bathroom fan. Had to close the bathroom door and use a towel under the door. Management said we will look in to it. Stayed another time had to go to the front desk to reprogram the door key. Didn't work in the elevator. Then in room 105 there was no hot water in the shower but the sink did. So I took a towel shower that time. Told management did nothing. Tried there again the key worked this time. But tried there so called breakfast that that the desk said was free when we checked in. And guess what $20 per plate and they charged to the room. For 2 people it was over $52.

I’ve been staying here for a week and Armando and Aaron have been great bartenders and provided great service. Made sure the drinks were made perfect and the food always came out correct. Will definitely come to stay here and dinner and drinks because of them. Super friendly guys and have good conversations with them while enjoy my drink and dinner each night.

Staff was great! The only thing that bothered me was the amount of dust . At first glance room is clean! But you can tell the rooms haven't been deep cleaned in awhile. Thick coat of dust on baseboards, dust behind nightstand all over outlet & behind toilet. Me and my son have allergies/ asthma so it wasn't pleasant for us. Also grime in bathtub and vanity , just wasn't cleaned properly. Made for an icky feeling. Location, staff, and other guest were great! Kids loved the pool, floor is very slippery!

On October 7th I went to celebrated my birthday with my friends. We had a fantastic time. Our bartender, AARON , was phenomenal! He was incredibly attentive, He made the best Old Fashioned I've had in a long time and even suggested a new whiskey we ended up loving. It's the kind of service that makes you want to become a regular.

I had a meeting for an upcoming event. Adriana, my sales manager was very helpful. She was able to exceed event my expectations. This location is perfect. Besides free parking, they have many meeting and banquet halls. They are close to Midway Air Port and offer complimentary shuttle service. I've had breakfast and lunch here and it was good!!! I highly recommend checking this local Hilton out in Oak Lawn.

Great experience with the hotel staff. More importantly the Custer service experience of your shuttle drove James. He had great attention to detail and pleasant. Always willing to help and provide suggestions, he made this adventure to Illinois enjoyable‼️

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. My room was released to another guest even after checking in via the app and chatting with a hotel team member. To make matters worse, the room provided, which was a king instead of the two-queen bed I booked for my family of 4, had exposed pipes and the toilet seat was disgusting. The next day when I was moved to a two-queen bed room, the bathroom wasn’t much better. There was evidence of a leak which had been poorly repaired resulting in chipped paint falling in the shower. After a 10 hour drive, with two small children I was grateful to make it safely to the hotel and I appreciate the staff trying to accommodate me but for what I paid and the condition of the hotel, very disappointing. The staff is working with what they have to work with, but this hotel could use some serious remodeling.
