The World's Biggest Hotel Chains Are Turning Their Attention to Food Waste

"Other behind-the-scenes actions at Hilton include composting, sourcing food locally, donating what’s still safe to eat, and finding novel uses for waste. At the Hilton New Orleans Riverside, discarded oyster shells from Drago’s restaurant get placed into Louisiana’s coastal waters as man-made oyster reefs."

I was in New Orleans for a conference. The Hilton was like a ten minute walk to the convention which was convenient. My room on the 27th floor was comfortable and clean. I had no problems. King size bed was comfortable and bathroom was a good size. The room was quiet and I was able to get work done at night. The staff is very nice and helpful! Close by on the second floor was a an entrance to the river walk. Few good restaurants in the hotel. I really enjoyed Drago’s. The walk to the French Quarter was about a 15-20 minute walk which was not bad at all. I did not get a chance to enjoy the free breakfast but it looked very good.||As a Gold member, not sure why parking is not discounted. Maybe the management can work on that for Gold and Diamond.||Definitely will come back on my next stay!

Room was clean and spacious. Staff is very nice and friendly. The Hilton vacation rep, Hana T. was SUPERB!! She was very personable and professional and gave me an honest presentation of some getaway packages. I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay. 😊

I was here on a business trip and it was stunning. Very charming and great walking distance from many places. Also there are river views which stole the whole show. The mall is connected to the Hotel which was beyond me(amazing). The service was really awesome. I requested towels and got them! That’s the best part! Also the express check out makes it easier and the employees are very nice. Booking here is worth the buy!

I do not have ONE bad thing to say about this place. Not ONE. I would stay here every time, no arguments. Cleanest hotel I have ever visited. Tons to do on property. The guy's working in the Public Belt were super friendly bartenders that were a delight to interact with. The views were breathtaking. I was enamored and will be back.

We super enjoyed the newly renovated room on the 25 floor of the main tower. It was very clean, and comfortable. Great location and an easy walk to the shopping outlets, river walk, and local restaurants. I did not enjoy self parking in the garage and recommend the valet. The hotel is larger than I expected and was very busy with people for a conference.

My family and I recently stayed at the Hilton in New Orleans, and unfortunately, our experience was nothing short of frustrating and disappointing due to a complete lack of communication and consistency among the staff regarding the Hilton Team Member Discount. My friend, who is a Hilton employee, was informed by one of the front desk agents that she receives 50% off everything at the hotel, excluding spirits and room service. Based on this information, we all went to dine at the hotel restaurant under the assumption that the discount applied. However, when the check came, the restaurant staff told us that no employee discount is honored there at all. To clarify, we returned to the front desk, only to be told by a different agent that the discount only applies to room service and spirits — the complete opposite of what we had originally been told. Feeling confused and misled, we returned to our rooms and decided to order room service instead. When the bill arrived, there was no discount applied whatsoever. We called the front desk and were then told that the employee discount does NOT apply to room service, which now makes it the third completely different explanation we received — all from Hilton staff members at the same property. At this point, we were frustrated and went back down to the front desk to finally speak to a manager. The agent who assisted us was apologetic and said the discount would be manually processed upon check-out. While we appreciated her effort, we still requested to speak to the manager directly. The manager came out, listened to our concerns, and assured us the 50% discount on room service would be honored. We took her word and checked out the next morning. However, to our disbelief, the discount still wasn’t applied at checkout. When we asked to speak with a manager again, we were met with yet another different manager, who told us there was nothing she could do because the previous manager who handled our issue wasn’t on duty. She then told my friend that her discount never applies to room service, contradicting every single person we had spoken to before. She also condescendingly added that my friend “should know” what her discount covers — an extremely unprofessional and dismissive remark. Let me be clear: we are not upset over the discount itself. We are upset because no one knew what they were talking about, and we were told four entirely different things by four different employees. We were sent in circles, wasted time, and left feeling frustrated and dismissed. The lack of consistency, internal communication, and accountability is absolutely unacceptable for a brand like Hilton. It is deeply unprofessional that not one staff member — including management — could give a clear or correct answer. This is not just a training issue, it’s a management failure. A situation like this should prompt an immediate internal meeting to ensure all team members understand company policy and communicate it clearly to guests, especially when dealing with Hilton’s own employees. Nice people, yes. But this experience made us lose confidence in Hilton’s service standards. If you are a Hilton Team Member or a guest who values clarity, efficiency, and professionalism — I’d think twice before booking here.

First let me start this off with the parking- it's insane!!! I know it's N.O and we went for a big event, but $60+ for 24 hour parking is ridiculous.||This property is HUGE! I like that it's connected to the mall, has multiple restaurants, room service, and is in a walkable area.||The rooms could stand some updated carpet, but they were very clean and that's all that matters. ||Nothing too much to write about except it's size. Would've loved a microwave in the room.

The location is great. There’s a small mall that you can access via a walkway. Another mall that’s more upscale approximately three blocks away. Overall, the property is nice. The rooms are a bit outdated. A large group of us were here for a conference. One colleague didn’t have water in the shower the first day. Myself and another colleague experienced a strange high pitched noise in our rooms. I used a sound machine and it wasn’t the end of the world. The property is huge! There are multiple towers. The conference rooms are nice. The staff is lovely! They work really hard and made the stay very pleasant!

Yelp
I was going on a cruise which left out of New Orleans so I needed a hotel room to stay for the night before. I found a good deal for the Hilton Riverwalk and it was very close to the Cruise poor as well as walking distance to many great location locations, including Bourbon Street, Riverwalk, and the cruise terminal. The stay itself was great. The staff was wonderful and the room was fine. I just wasn't happy about the $25 per day that they charge that you can use towards food at the hotel if you so choose. I can understand being charged $25 for the first night I stayed but I was charged another 25 for the morning that I checked out at 10 AM which to me is not cool. I didn't even use the first $25 voucher because I wanted to experience food outside of the hotel. I will probably end up calling them to have them remove that 2nd charge but other than that, it's a nice hotel and again it's centrally located.

Yelp
This was our first time traveling to Louisiana. I was so looking forward to this trip. A friend I haven't seen in over 30 years lives not but 1 1/2 hours away, so bonus. Is this a perfect location? Yes Walking distance to French quarter, River, shopping? Yes River view? Yes Wonderful buffet? Yes, yes and yes. Excellent service, cleaning, waitstaff? Yes. Microwave? No So what's my problem? We booked a king bed room several months before our trip. We got to the hotel to check in only to find that the room we booked was no longer available. "First come First Serve" is what the gentleman at the check-in counter said. We were given an "upgrade". Upgrade sounds good, doesn't it? NOT. That's not what this was. It was a Murphy bed. A very uncomfortable Murphy bed. 4 night sleeping on a hard, uncomfortable, Murphy bed. The recurring theme here is Murphy bed but I guess you've caught on to that by now? Some key info for your trip should the person at their counter gives you the same spiel on an upgrade ... the bed? It sits very low to the ground and as you can see, the corners are quite intrusive as my husbands toes can attest. It dips in the middle and the center across feels like there is a beam or rod holding it together. Right at hip level. The room is spacious but sits a bit off. The tv is on the same wall as the couch. I know what you're thinking. Why watch tv in New Orleans? This was a work trip. Sites were seen at the end of the day not during. My hubs likes to watch tv before bed. And the only place to watch was on that... you guessed it. MURPHY BED! The bar has a coffee pot and small fridge. There is no microwave (I like eating left overs for breakfast). The fridge is really not large enough for a leftover container. Or more than 1. Drinks yes but not containers really. The rooms were cleaned, towels changed every day. That was fantastic. Lastly, hubs was there for a conference that ended at 12 on Thursday. We thought everything was fine. Nope. The sign in the room says check out is 12 pm.so we took that as the check out time and worked using that info. It is NOT. Check out was at 11 am unbeknownst to us. Anything after 11 is considered a late check out and a fee is attached to your bill. But the room says 12 you might say. They say oops. "The signs have not been updated". But the conference, at your very hotel, ends at noon, you say. . They say even 10 min after checkout is a late checkout. That is the other reason behind my mediocre review. The room we booked was gone, the bed, in the upgrade is not a real bed making this the worst part of our trip even over the layovers in the airports. Lastly, the check out was the icky, expired, maraschino cherry, at the end of our trip I'd give it 2 1/2 stars if I could

Yelp
My family enjoyed staying here over Memorial Day weekend. We had a room on the Riverside building which appears to be quieter than the tower. Jude at the front desk helped us with late check out as husband did not have to leave until 12:30 pm for work. I like the location how it is close to the Riverwalk and to the Outlet shopping-you do not even need to go outside to shop! Thanks for a lovely stay!

Yelp
TLDR: The Hilton Hotel Riverside offers a seamless blend of business and leisure, making it an excellent choice for anyone visiting New Orleans. From its prime location and dining options to its offering basic amenities and amazing service, the hotel delivers a rounded experience. While there's opportunity for updates in the rooms and entertainment offerings, the overall stay was enjoyable and hassle-free. If I return to New Orleans, I'd happily stay here again--it's the perfect spot to balance work and play. The Hilton Hotel Riverside is ideally located along the beautiful Mississippi River and directly connected to the Riverwalk Outlets, making it a prime destination for visitors looking to explore New Orleans. Conveniently situated just 20 minutes from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, the hotel combines accessibility with a touch of Southern charm. The thoughtful design pays homage to New Orleans, reflected in the subtle details of the carpets and the artistic paintings in the guest rooms. The high ceilings in the lobby create an inviting, open-concept atmosphere that feels both luxurious and comfortable. Exceptional Service From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with excellent service. Beth at the information booth was a standout, offering warm hospitality and plenty of helpful recommendations for shopping and dining in the area. Check-in was smooth, even though my room wasn't immediately ready. The spacious and comfortable lobby provided a perfect spot to relax and catch up on work. For a faster check-in experience, I highly recommend downloading the Hilton Honors app. The app allows you to check in, use a Digital Key, and connect with staff for pre- and post-stay assistance. There's even a dedicated expedited check-in line for app users--an excellent perk for frequent travelers. The offer a $10 credit per day, a little confusion around this. It is applied at the end of the stay. Dining Options & Amenities The lobby features a well-stocked pantry offering cold sandwiches, healthy snacks, a variety of beverages, and a Starbucks coffee bar. Guests also have access to a communal microwave, which is convenient for quick meals. The hotel offers multiple dining options, including the acclaimed Drago's Seafood & Bar, famous for its charbroiled oysters. The prices are reasonable and comparable to local restaurants, and the convenience of charging meals to your room simplifies the billing process. For those preferring to dine in, a comprehensive room service menu is available. A highlight of the hotel is the Public Belt, a stylish speakeasy with a relaxed vibe, perfect for winding down after a busy day. With its on-site restaurants, a sports bar, and even a FedEx office, the Hilton Riverside is designed to cater to both business and leisure travelers. Rooms with a View I stayed in a riverview room, which was both comfortable and well-equipped. Ample coutlets for charging your electronics near the bed. The room included a coffee maker, mini-bar, blackout curtains, a small desk area, and an in-room safe. The bed was firm, with clean bedding, and the overall space was well-maintained. However, the towels were a bit thin, and I wasn't a fan of the shower curtain--modern upgrades like glass showers would elevate the bathroom experience. Fixed bath amenities (shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel) were provided, along with a bar of soap and a shower cap. A hairdryer was also available. One improvement I'd suggest is upgrading the in-room entertainment to allow streaming capabilities, which has become a standard expectation for modern travelers. Facilities The hotel boasts impressive amenities, including a Health Club, indoor pickleball court, and an on-site hair salon. Its location, directly connected to the Riverside Outlets Mall, makes it perfect for shopping enthusiasts. Additionally, the hotel is well-suited for hosting large events, with expansive meeting spaces and banquet facilities. Lovely ballrooms for hosting. Parking Options Both valet and self-parking are available, priced at $49 and $44 per day, respectively. While on the pricier side, the convenience of parking so close to downtown New Orleans is hard to beat. Depending on your needs, consider using the local trolly that stops outside the hotel to get around.

Yelp
Dates of stay: 12/19/24 - 12/23/24 Rooms: 2890 + 2893 I selected this hotel for our trip to New Orleans based on the combination of location, price, and reviews. And while it was a good value, it was not a great stay for a few reasons. 1. Staff was not particularly friendly. Anyone I would encounter in the halls would not acknowledge me unless I spoke first. This says a lot to me about how staff feels about their workplace. When we went to check in, the rooms were not ready and we stashed our bags to grab some lunch and walk around the Outlet mall. The Bellman was confused about the delay, stating, "There are a lot of rooms available, not sure why they aren't letting you check in." There were also a number of issues with breakfast but I will speak to those in the review for the restaurant. 2. Billing. As a Diamond member, I should have received $30 in credits daily towards food and beverage but only received $71. When I attempted to chat with Customer Service about this at the hotel, they told me I had to call to work through this, which was disappointing. However, I found an email online for the hotel (MSYNH-SALESADM@hilton.com) and received a quick response, resolving the issue! 3. Sound. For some reason there was no sweep under the door to the room, allowing for a LOT of hallway noise to enter the room. Anyone walking down the hall or closing their door was clearly heard in my room. I ended up shoving a towel under the door and that definitely helped but was not ideal. There are some good things about the hotel: The location is great for checking out the Outlet Mall, French Quarter, Canal Street, or aquarium. And the fitness center is very large; if a gym is important to you, this may be the place for you.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of experiencing the Hilton New Orleans for the 2024 NACM Conference and it was truly an amazing venue. I didn't stay on site as the hotel was sold out, however, I attended the conference daily which afforded me the opportunity to experience the hotel for a full week. The ambiance of the hotel is a blend of calm, professional, and family. The common area decor presents a variation of options which are ideal for taking a quick call, checking emails, or meeting up with friends or family to head out for the day. There are many entrance doors so your ability to be on the side of the hotel closest to where you need to be isn't an issue at all. There is calming music playing throughout the common areas which help to set the tone as you enter the space. The Grand Ballroom is absolutely amazing. The space is beyond huge and has a design aesthetic that is ideal to be used as a meeting or event space. The carpets were free of stains and cleaned daily. The room has ample outlets along the wall so ensure if you need your laptop to sit near a wall. We utilized Concourse D for our breakout sessions which was ideal. Each room presented ample space which ensured we weren't crowded, as well as the hot has the perfect presentation setup for the multi-speaker or solo presenter style session. On the days the food was catered, the catering staff was nothing less than awesome. They were pleasant, always had a smile on their face, they ensured the area remained clean, and they were super helpful with any questions we had. As the hotel is huge, I further had the chance to visit all of their retail locations within the hotel. Regardless of if I was getting coffee, food, or apparel, every interaction was delivered with the Hilton Signature which helped to create a promoter experience. As this location sits on the Riverwalk, the views are amazing as well as the access to the shops and trolley are right outside the door. I don't have to tell you that we shopped daily. LoL. All in all, the Hilton - Riverwalk was an amazing venue experience. From the cleanliness, to the staff, to the overall ambiance presented by the hotel itself. Top tier quality. Thank you to the Hilton team for your service deliverables, amazing hospitality, and ease of access to downtown.

Yelp
We stayed here for a middle school conference and for a hotel geared for events, the check in process was a mess. Virtual check in via the app wasn't working and the check in line was over an hour long. No one wants that after a long travel day. The rooms themselves were fine and appeared to have been recently updated. I paid for an upgraded view, and it really was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful albeit scarce. We would stay again but hopefully they can improve checkin.

Yelp
I spent just shy of a week here for a financial conference, and overall, I have to say my stay was good! Upon check in, the staff was all pleasant. Nothing too note worthy there. We arrived late afternoon and there wasn't a line at check in. I think the only thing I would add is the lobby area is massive and you have to sort of orient yourself first and read the directional signs to know where to go. The check in desk is up the escalator. My room was nice. I had ample space for just myself. The bed was fine. It was a little firm for my preference, but I made do. Everything was clean, which is the important piece. Housekeeping did a great job each day. The conference center was absolutely massive. At the time of my conference there was an entirely other conference happening just down the hall, but we never ran into any of the other conference goers - it was impressive. The staff was also great with keeping drinks and snacks stocked and ready to go. The first night of the conference the hotel hosted an evening cocktail hour for our conference complete with full bar service and heavy appetizers. Everything was spot on! My only complaint is maybe the location. If you're in town to explore the French Quarter or Garden District, you're a bit of a walk to either. I'd definitely suggest a more centrally located hotel. BUT if you want to be right on the riverwalk - this place is top notch. If I wasn't staying here for the conference, it wouldn't be my first pick, as I feel there are dozens of other places in the area with much bigger bang for your buck, but my time here was good!

Yelp
Very nice and clean hotel. Check in and check out was easy. Has a hotel bar, restaurant, snd a breakfast area. There is also a cafe. My room was either icy cold or stuffy. Couldn't seem to find a happy medium. Had to call to get extra blankets. They were a bit slow with this and it took a few calls in an hour and half to get the blankets. My bathroom was great but the tub was very slow to drain. Had to call 3 days out of my 5 day stay to have this issue addressed.

Yelp
Overall our stay was ok; I was disappointed in check in as; I was ignored by checkin staff- I have status with the brand and with that comes some benefits. If you are going to have a status program you need to follow through and I shouldn't have to ask for my benefits. We booked the room about a week before and paid for an upgraded room which was nicely renovated. The towels were worse than sandpaper, the toilet was loose, and the shower tile flooring was painful on the feet. The positive was the view of the river, point, and east bank. The bed was super comfy.. but they had the thinnest blankets on the bed and zero extra heavy blankets anywhere in the room. Stopped down at the desk and they were like we can have housekeeping bring it to you at 7a! Ummm that's kinda pointless. We were super disappointed that the breakfast buffet was packed we couldn't even get in. If you have a hotel that has 1700 rooms that you give everyone food credits too; you need to have a buffet that can support that kind of volume or have a contingency to open additional seating areas to accommodate. Overall the hotel was fine, over priced but ok and met our needs for an overnight downtown.

Yelp
3 1/2 Stars This hotel is HUGE! The location is nice because it is easy to walk to the French Quarter. We stayed in Building 3, on the 3rd floor which had a river view. I really enjoyed the river view as several times we could see different ships and boats cruise by. Specially the Steamboat Natchez. The hotel itself is not super modern if that is what you are looking for in a place to stay. Several escalators were out of service which made getting around take a bit longer as you had to seek out elevators and take a roundabout route to get somewhere. Our room was a standard king bed with a river view. It had what we needed. Nothing fancy but that was fine. The room was a hike to come and go but I did enjoy the view. We enjoyed the hotel bar one evening which was a lot of fun after being in the French Quarter. They make a great Dirty Martini! Don't bother with the Riverwalk Outlets.

Yelp
We stayed here 10 years ago and decided to stay again for my wife's retirement and it was another amazing stay. We absolutely loved it. Location was perfect across the street from Harrahs and about a 10 minute walk to the entrance of Royal street and Bourbon street. Staff is super friendly and beds were among the most comfortable I have ever slept in. We plan on making lots of return trips to New Orleans and this will always be our home away from home here in New Orleans.

Yelp
Came here for a convention. It was a nice hotel right on the water within walking distance of a few cool places, There is an rta stop there and a streetcar stop down around the corner so that was convenient Dragos restaurant was great The spirit bar was also very good and had a bar menu Le Croissant had a great, but pricey breakfast buffet. It had a huge selection that was very good. I hear tell you can get a deal on breakfast with the room. We didn't know that so 32$ for breakfast added up. The rooms were clean. Our beds were on the beat up side ( lumpy). So that wasn't great as we stayed 9 nights! Staff was always friendly, accommodating and courteous. I would go back again due to the location and the restaurants inside. I would hope they start updating their mattresses.

Yelp
Came here for a conference last week. Nice hotel. Very spacious. Room was clean. Stayed in the tower attached to an outlet mall. Love the fact you can walk to Bourbon Street from here. Casino was across the street. Cons: View of another building. Received an amenities card which told me what I was able to get, was allowed $10 off of a restaurant in the hotel. However, Drago told me I had to pay for the meal and get reimbursed by the hotel. Hotel front desk told me I need to charge it to my room. Didn't utilize the offer because was getting too many different messages. Would still recommend this hotel because of location.

Yelp
excellent restaurants so just know if you are visiting during any events / tourist season this hotel will stay packed! I enjoyed my room with the river view and I especially enjoyed watching the fireworks on the riverwalk - great views on the river side rooms! Room service was great and timely even at a late hour...this hotel is conveniently located with a shopping mall below it! Yes and yes!! Customer service was excellent! Keep up the great work guys!

Yelp
The hotel overall is massive because of the convention center attached. If you self park, make sure you park on level 5 it makes it so easy to find and get to. We read all the reviews before booking, everyone says the room are small. So my husband changed our room. We eventually ended up with 2 rooms that was attached. We had our bedroom in one room and full couch and wet bar area in the other room. If you're planning on walking down to Bourbon street it's quite a walk. We were planning on getting on the Street Car but never seen one running. The walk to Bourbon Street there and back is a little sketchy, be aware of your surroundings.

Yelp
The location is nice and the higher rooms are renovated. However, I am very dissatisfied with their handling of a bed bug sighting in my first room. I stayed at this hotel for a conference in March 2025. After a long flight I checked in and immediately identified bed bugs in the room. I promptly contacted the evening staff at the front desk who stated they would file a report, conduct an investigation, and get back to me. The Assistant Director for front desk operations called me the next day, asked for photos, advised that an investigation would occur, and stated she would be in touch with questions and a report. I provided her with photos and videos of the sighting, and made myself available to speak to the reporting officer(s). I never heard anything further. Upon check out --three days later-- I learned that they never conducted an investigation or filed the necessary report, did not document the sighting or remains of the bug which I left in the room, and didn't believe that the event occurred despite several email exchanges regarding the situation. Without following their own purported procedures, they "gave the room to someone else" the very next morning. Further the "security" team responsible for filing a report was not even notified about the situation and didn't review my photos until I brought it to their attention during checkout. They only offered to clean the exposed clothing after I advised that the items had already been discarded. My second room was fine, and Gabrielle was helpful throughout the process. She also removed the charge for one of my nights. However, it is clear that this hotel does not follow their own procedures for pest control and reporting. In fact they referred to the bed bug event as "very minor'" and completely disregarded their failure to properly handle the situation.

Yelp
Please leave the breakfast out in the cafe longer or have it out all day. I was looking forward to a bacon egg croissant and the lady behind the counter said they just took them down early for some reason today. Booooo. Otherwise a pretty good hotel - great location, nice staff. The rooms are a little dated and the building is a little creaky, but nothing that would ruin the experience. Not getting my BEC (for the second time) is what ruined it.

Yelp
I don't recommend because of the sheer refusal to be helpful. I stayed here this weekend simply because I was a signing author at a book convention this weekend, so although I paid $550 for two nights, it was convenient because it was the venue. When I got here on Friday night, the bell hops were gone for the night, so the front desk took my ID while I borrowed one of their luggage carts to get my tons of boxes and totes of books to my room. No biggie. I was fine with that. Actually, when I first checked in, the valet guy let me borrow one of his carts also. The valet was awesome. Fast forward to today, I just finished with the convention on Sunday afternoon. I first went to the bellhop desk to see about some help with my stuff to the car, and I'd never been charged BY THE POUND by the bellhops, so that was out. I've stayed at high scale hotels that are much nicer than this one, and have never been asked to pay by the pound. I've always tipped bellhops, but never been asked to pay by the pound. SO, I instead returned to the front desk and asked to do exactly what I did on Friday night-let them hold my ID so I could use a cart to get all my convention boxes down to my car, and I was told by one of the dozen or so people working at the customer service counter that when the bellhops are there, you can no longer use a cart! So, I asked if I was "out of luck" and would have to carry all my stuff to my car and was told "yes." SO, I could borrow a cart when the bellhops weren't there (when it was convenient for them), but I couldn't use a cart when they had the opportunity to squeeze more money out of me. I've never experienced something like that. Being someone with a chronic health condition, Neurological Lyme disease, I cannot physically do what they expected me to do. Not to mention, we had to pay an extra fee for checking out our vehicle an hour late, but that's when the convention ended. With nearly 200 authors and more than 500 readers over a weekend event, this hotel made LOTS of money from this convention. So, to then tell one of their guests that they are out of luck and cannot use a cart, something you can do at literally every hotel, is absolute bullshit. It's a pretty rundown hotel for the price anyway, and needs updates. I will definitely share this review on all my platforms and places where reviews are an option. I will also not recommend it for future conventions. They are clearly not concerned about guest experience, and I definitely don't recommend for guests with disabilities.

Yelp
This is 3 star hotel at best. The decor is dated, the rooms feel old. The location is great. The service and restaurants are good. I'd recommend for a work stay, otherwise find a Vrbo or AirBnB. Enough said.

Yelp
***Update to review*** General manager responded to my post/review and the most that I was offered were apologies and what they plan to do in the future. There were no stays, credits, or points offered. After nearly $1000 stay for two days, that's the best they have to offer? What a joke and certainly not the level of professionalism I would have expected from such a respectable brand.

Yelp
Great location, fantastic rooms and the restaurant was #1. The staff was cordial, polite and professional.

Yelp
We had a slight communication issue with our reservation, but management was so eager and made it right. This spoke volumes. The bartenders and hostesses and concierge were friendly and helpful. River view was great, bed comfy. The breakfast buffet was like Europe: extensive and expansive. Salmon, omelets (crawfish too), fresh honey in comb, breads and delicious flaky croissants, fruit, alligator sausage. Great location, would come back.

Yelp
I rarely, since my New York trip years ago complain about hotels because I know they're understaffed. But roaches in the both beds is simply unacceptable. Front desk did move our room.. but didn't seem shocked.

Yelp
This Hilton location was quite large. The hotel included a restaurant, several bars, and even a shopping mall outlet. It is located next to the riverside and it's in safe area. The rooms were clean and up to par. Escalators were down for more than two days which required back ups with the elevators. Staff and service was great and the hotel provided many accommodations. I do think the one night stay was a bit pricey, but much was offered in exchange. Wifi was also down for a few hours. Location is great and in the heart of New Orleans.

Yelp
Good event hotel! Rooms were clean. Elevators were speedy and sufficient. Meetings rooms were a little musty. Overall- great business hotel in NOLA. If you're looking for a convenient place to stay in the area, don't hesitate to check this one out. Happy travels!

Yelp
Whew a decade since my last review and I finished planning a conference with the Hilton this fall. And everything was amazing. My conference was originally scheduled for 2021 but because of all the things, it finally happened this September. I am not a party planner and the hotel staff helped me figure things out. The meeting room space (3rd floor) were perfect out group and I heard zero complaints about the rooms which is saying a lot for my people. Plus everyone loved the proximity to the FQ. Shout to Sharon Rodriguez from event planning who was a rock star. All the staff from the catering manager, to the servers to AV folks, to the guys who delivered all the last minute chairs on a Sunday morning when we has double the attendance in one room. Oh and the catering which is not cheap but was delicious. And catering can accommodate any dietary requirement, including ordering out from a halal or kosher kitchen. While I didn't try everything we ordered, everything I did sample was great. My hotel room was comfy and the bed was good but I was hardly ever in there.

Yelp
This hotel has some dated appearances but is updated enough to be pretty good. The outside looks kinda old. The entrance has the spinning door I don't see much anymore. There is a lot of brown. But it's clean and modernized in most places. In most cities you need to scan your key on the elevator would like that here but everything was fine. Rooms are clean, service optional. Staff is friendly.

Yelp
I had not tried a Murphy bed until now and in a Hilton hotel nonetheless. I arrived to the hotel predawn and the front desk found a room many hours before the official check in time. That effort alone is worth a gold star. This hotel is dated and the rooms have a 1980s vibe. If you are a digital worker like me you will appreciate that the Hilton actually has a desk chair and work table - thank you. There are also plenty of food and beverage places within the hotel which can be convenient.

Yelp
Was here for a reception and the reception halls were very nice. They were large and spacious. The bartender at our reception was very locked down which showed he cared about his job. Mad respect.

Yelp
Booked this hotel to tour the city before leaving on a cruise. WHAT A MISTAKE! On first entering room, we were late checking in do to flight delays, large dead cockroach in the middle of the bathroom floor. Called guest services and they said "we will get you into a new room as soon as we can". My husband finally got rid of it but no sleeping for me that night. I texted back about an hour later with no response. No one answers guest services line when called. Finally was texted by guest services the next morning and told to go to the front desk if I still wanted to try and change rooms. HILTON YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Yelp
Update 01/31/25: They Charged Me AGAIN! I thought my nightmare with Hilton Riverside was over after fighting an unauthorized $606.45 charge for over a month and finally getting a refund. But on January 15, 2025, they rebilled me the same amount. How does this even happen? First, they let a random person bill hundreds of dollars to my room with no ID check. Then, after admitting their mistake, they still can't fix it. If you enjoy endless disputes and incompetence, book a stay. Otherwise, avoid this hotel at all costs. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you're looking for a hotel where anyone can charge hundreds of dollars to your room with just a name and a room number, Hilton Riverside is the place for you! No ID checks, no verification--just say a name, and you're good to go. During my stay, a random man charged $606 to my room over three consecutive days. Hilton claimed their IT systems weren't compromised, but offered no explanation for how this person got my name and room number. Instead of investigating thoroughly, they made me--the victim--prove the charges weren't mine. I spent over a month arguing with Hilton, only to get a refund and a generic apology. No clarification on how this happened, no assurance it won't happen again, and no accountability for their flawed "bill-to-room" system. Even worse, I never received timely receipts or notifications for the charges, which would've prevented this from dragging on. Honestly, Hilton's protocols seem so lax that you could walk into their bar, pick a random room number, and enjoy drinks on someone else's dime. If this is their standard of service, I'd think twice before staying here. Save yourself the stress--choose another hotel.

Yelp
Wall not soundproof. Despite of staying on the 23rd floor with great views of the city and river, next door neighbors TV was on throughout the night. It's almost 11pm TV volume was on full blast.

Yelp
Decent hotel. It is evident that the staff do not appreciate their roles providing hospitality service.

Yelp
The only nice thing about this hotel is the lobby. Everything else is janky as hell. The guest service agents are rude at check in ... the bellmen are rude. The refrigerator in the room was t working , half the outlets in the room didn't work. We tried to have breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel but it took 20 minutes to get water from the server. Then another 20 minutes and our food still hadn't came out so we just left. The server had a bad attitude when he brought us water. Dragon's was terrible..never again

Yelp
Sheena with food services was very ghetto and RUDE TO THE WHOLE AAFPRS crew who paid millions for our conference. She was yelling at us and she being out right rude. We entered into the exhibit hall and was informed to eat and she immediately came up to us YELLING... swinging her hands, yelling and just not being very helpful!!!! I will NEVER RETURN TO THE FACILITY DONT GO HERE

Yelp
Excellent location. The rooms are very clean. All the elevators were working. There is an icebox in the room but no microwave. So why save leftovers that you can't heat up & eat later. There is a room safe. There is complimentary bottled water and coffee. They leave 2 coffee creamers with 2 various sweetners each. Pointless for me. That is like drinking my coffee black. I called the front desk multiple times to get more, but no one answered. The makeup mirror is too high for short people to use. The bath towels were placed on a rack over the tub, but it is way too high for short people to safely reach. A better location for the bath towels would be under the sink in a nice basket. There is a lot of unused space there. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The hotel cafe was ridiculously expensive. Coffee, 1 egg, 1 pancake, side of bacon nearly $30 plus tax and tip.

Yelp
The Hilton is a decent hotel near Harrah's casino. They have a lot of rooms and I was here for a conference. It is a bit of a walk to Bourbon street and the elevators can get very busy but the conference center is very close. Overall a decent place to stay in the big easy, not as nice as some hotels but convenient for conferences.

Yelp
This Hilton hotel is pretty great! Let me just quickly get out the negatives out of the way so that I can get onto all of the good stuff. Room service does not tell you your charge until they deliver your food. Whatever the price on the menu says, expect to pay double since taxes gratuity and service fees are also added to the bill. The rooms themselves are ok. The bathroom looks very old, and it is weird to have the sink be outside of the bathroom door itself in a little alleyway. The TV and the rooms are laughable, barely 36 inches and quite outdated (not flatscreen). Now on to the good things. The amenities in this hotel are fantastic. Their breakfast café, dinner restaurant (Dragos) on the main floor, and gym are the shining stars here. At the breakfast café, do not sleep on these sandwiches that they make. I got their chicken salad sandwich with garlic aïoli on a brioche bun and it was one of the best chicken salad sandwiches I have had! Yes, they are a little expensive at $10 a sandwich, but it is worth it and great for lunch. The dinner restaurant is incredible. I've made a separate review at the actual location itself. It's called Dragos and has some of the freshest oysters you can get! The gym is incredible. It is a health club attached to the hotel and free for guests. It is a full on gym with dozens of cardio equipment, a full range of weights and machines, rooms for tennis, pickle ball, racquetball, boxing, rope climbing, etc. There's even a pool and sauna! Everything is free to use, however renting equipment for some of the sports does cost money. Now on to other amenities of this hotel. Parking is pretty easy in a while with a parking garage adjacent to the hotel. Valet is available for $49 per night, or you can self-park for $44 per night. Diamond Hotel members do receiver $15 per day food and beverage credit that to use at the seafood restaurant or bar on the first floor or the café on the second floor. Views from this hotel are incredible. You can get an excellent view of the river right from your bedroom window, and this area is easily walkable. This truly is a very nice hotel that I would happily visit again!

Yelp
The Hilton Riverside New Orleans is an older hotel convenient to the convention center, cruise port and outlet shoppes. It's also across the street from Harrah's. I found the rooms to be spacious and comfortable, if a bit dated. We had an initial hiccup at checkin as the first room we went to had not been cleaned. After a move that took almost an hour, we had a much better room. I don't recommend the smaller auxiliary building as it was old and dated, despite it being sold as 'recently updated'. The main, taller building is much more convenient. The hotel boasts an impressive array of dining options, ranging from casual to upscale. For a quick bite, the River Blends Cafe is quick-services, while Drago's Seafood Restaurant is a bit more formal. We did not enjoy our meal there (see separate review - it was overpriced and generally not a good meal). Public Belt, was a more upscale cocktail lounge but was unfortunately closed during our stay. Spirits was the main hotel bar and it was constantly hoping with convention attendees. The drinks were priced for what I would expect at a Hilton hotel. The hotel's amenities are just ok, with a large fitness center, outdoor pool, and even a private riverfront park for guests to enjoy. Their is also a hotel concierge desk, but there was generally a line that prevented us from using them. One minor drawback is that the hotel can get quite busy, especially during peak tourist season, so be prepared for crowds in the lobby and dining areas. I can't say that the hotel staff was adequately prepared for managing the crowds and ensuring a smooth and enjoyable stay for all guests (our check in issue, room Swap and lack of access to the concierge). That being said, housekeeping did clean our room despite notices stating they would not. I will call out room service - our attendant who brought us breakfast was amazing, friendly and helpful! Overall, the Hilton Riverside New Orleans is just an ok choice for anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient base to explore NOLA.

Yelp
It's a nice hotel but here's what's not create Room 1846 can hear something that I'm guessing is the elevator. I'm down the hall so I wouldn't think I could hear it but I can along w/a whistling noise. Not great! Esp when I'm a light sleeper, asked for a quiet room and have to present at a conference at 8a tomorrow.

Yelp
The best part about this hotel is the outlet mall is conveniently connected so you don't have to walk outside. The hotel itself is extremely overpriced. The checkout process on the morning I was leaving was horrific it took over 2 hours for a bell hop to retrieve our luggage and valet will not bring your car until all luggage is brought down. The food at the hotel restaurant Drago's, please don't waste your money, there are plenty of better options literally steps away. I found that out the very next day after spending $92 on a subpar meal. Never again

Yelp
I stayed here for a conference. The location straddles the Warehouse District and French Quarter. It's a large hotel. I was given a suite with a view of a concrete wall. Beyond the wall was the Mighty Mississippi. Attached to the hotel is a mall where I was accosted by an aggressive salesman at one of those kiosks and never went back. There was A LOT of construction around the hotel so getting into the French Quarter required some good navigation skills, which I luckily have. The Warehouse District has good restaurants and is much more pleasant to roam around than the French Quarter. The hotel is huge and it was nice to have such a large suite but I missed having a view. There was an issue with my air conditioning and the hotel was very responsive, sending someone up within minutes to fix it.

Yelp
Stayed nights July 19-21st originally in order to get on the Carvinal Liberty and that was just awful. There were over 20,000 kids here for a church retreat they were unattended by a reasonable adult. Complained to the front desk and their response was "Good news is that they are checking out tomorrow "Our response was Haha so are we.‍ Staying the nights from July 28-30 I will update once we check out. update from the July 28 Th-30th stay this day was a lot better quieter, but this time there were another conference, but this time it was adults, which was a relief room, nice and comfy. Very spaces. Pillows were great. Would recommend this hotel but upon booking, I would ask if there's any conferences that will be booked at the time you are.

Yelp
I recently stayed at this hotel while attending an event at the Convention center next door, as I have done many times in the past. This was the worst experience I've had at any hotel. The doorman told me valet parking was full and directed me to self parking. The attendant there informed me that it was also full so I was on my own. When walking to our room we noticed room service trays lining the halls, which remained there for the entire 21 hours we were there. When I called for a bellman to get my bags, we had to wait over an hour. When he bought us down the service elevator he brought us to a side entrance which was closer for him but a long walk to my car and hard to get back to the street. It seems like a complete absence of management. I can't imagine they are not already aware of these problems. I'm done

Yelp
Was in town for the day and stayed here. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was very nice. Our room had an awesome view of the river and was very clean. The hotel is big with a lot of options to eat. I really liked the mall was attached to the hotel. We'd definitely be back.
