I originally left a 3-star rating based on my initial stay; however, I am updating it to 5 stars after receiving a very thoughtful, courteous, and professional response from hotel leadership. The follow-up truly reflected the level of service, accountability, and care I appreciate and expect from a Hilton property.
The first three paragraphs below are from my original review. The remaining paragraphs have been revised to better reflect the overall experience, including the hotel’s excellent response and service recovery.
Let me start with the best part of this hotel: Sunnies, the lobby bar, and the pool/lazy river/hot tub area. Vinnie (and I believe Nick) at Sunnies were fantastic—friendly, informative, efficient, and the type of bartenders who make you think, “Maybe I should just cancel the rest of my plans and stay right here.” The drinks were consistently good. I sampled the Palace Old Fashioned, the Candy Cane Martini, and a few others for “research purposes,” of course—all delicious.
The pool area was the real star of the show. It includes a hot tub, lazy river, main pool, bar (Shades), and an activity area with cornhole. Morning, noon, or night, it was my happy place—even when temperatures dipped into the mid-50s and I questioned my life choices stepping out of the water. The pool opens early (around 7 AM) and stays open until 11 PM, though the bar closes earlier—so plan ahead if you’re committed to floating the lazy river with a beverage.
The staff answering the front desk phone deserve an award for speed. I’ve never had a hotel pick up and help so quickly—it almost startled me the first time.
Areas that could have been improved included the lack of Diamond member acknowledgment during face-to-face interactions and the absence of the usual Diamond amenities at check-in, such as welcome recognition or water bottles. While these are relatively small details, they are meaningful to loyal guests and help establish a positive tone for the stay.
Additionally, the dining experience did not fully meet expectations. Portions and flavor were modest for the price point, and the Letterpress atmosphere felt more casual than anticipated. Complimentary morning coffee was available; however, I personally preferred purchasing a hot coffee or Starbucks option.
More importantly, what truly stood out was how the hotel responded to this feedback. The response I received was gracious, professional, and sincere, reinforcing why Hilton loyalty continues to matter to me. Service recovery and accountability are important, and this team demonstrated both.
Because of the excellent follow-up and professionalism shown, I am happy to update my rating to 5 stars and would absolutely consider returning in the future.
