Well, after my driver dropped me off at the wrong hotel, I finally made it here. See there are two Hiltons and they are located across the street from one another. After traversing the Florida streets, especially in this area, I was hoping for a fast transition to my room. I had to be somewhere rather quickly.
Welp, that wasn't the case. When I entered the lobby I made my way straight to the front desk. Start my check in process and it appears that the lady helping me isn't putting up with my ish. A lot of things had gone wrong with this check in, and a few things may have been my fault. My bank held me up for nearly an hour thinking that I stole my own information and went out of state. Once that was taken care of I was able to get checked in finally.
Before heading up to my room I had a few questions. I wanted to know where the shuttle was that would take me to another hotel, the hotel where I needed to be over an hour ago. The one where I needed to be for work and I was now late. Whatever, I also asked a few questions about proximity to food and what not. A few of the questions were spot on, but then there were answers that were not correct in the least. The shuttle that I needed was not at the traditional shuttle stop. So there I was sitting for another hour before I ended up taking a different mode of transportation.
Anyway, I then finally have a moment to look over my room. The room was pretty spectacular looking at first glance. But looks can be deceiving. I liked the space that the room provided. Nice king bed, seating area, balcony that overlooked the fountain, decent sized bathroom.
Well, after finally being able to settle in after a long day, I saw some flaws. It's rather noisy, I heard my neighbors every single time they entered, exited, and opened drawers. I also got a good amount of noise from the lobby area. My door to my room opened up to an area that overlooked the lobby and the noise travelled up. The tv wasn't all that great. My tv didn't allow me to see what was on any channel, I had to guess what was on.
I have allergies and each morning that I woke up my eyes were running tears down my face. I wasn't understanding why until I had gone to the bathroom. Above the toilet is an exhaust fan. While using the facilities I noticed that the exhaust fan stated to "change filter every six months." Well guess what, they hadn't done that in maybe six years. Inside the exhaust fan there was an enormous ball of dust and who knows what else in there. Wish I had a picture to show y'all, oh, wait I do, I will add it to this review. It was also a bit odd that the bathroom portion was broken up, toilet and tub/shower in one room and sink with closet in another. But the light switch for both were in one area.
So, to sum up this place:
The good:
-walking distance to Disney Springs.
-lazy river in the pool area.
-shuttle service to certain areas (Disney switched up certain areas with a different shuttle service).
-Gym.
-Restaurants on property as well as a convenience type of store to buy small snacks.
-Huge convention center complex attached.
The bad:
-Poor ventilation in the bathroom.
-closet was hard to open and made it a hassle to use.
-no clear answers for simple questions.
-being charged to your room for something you already paid for in the store.
The odd:
-DVD rentals available instead of a movie channel provided (yes, there was a RedBox like set up downstairs to rent a movie)
-the multiple entrances to the hotel that can confuse a person as to where the lobby might be, or shuttle for that matter.
-the layout of buildings.
In the end, my work pulled me from this hotel to where they were stationed. If it wasn't for that, I'm sure I could dispel more about this location. I did really enjoy the proximity to the shopping/dining area. That allowed for me to venture out to grab food elsewhere instead of being stuck with what was only offered in house.
