11 Best Asian Restaurants Near Savannah, Georgia | Eater Carolinas

"The 40-minute drive from downtown to Richmond Hill is worth it for this locally loved Indian eatery. Intrepid diners are advised to take a break from their usuals and order one of chef Pulkit Chawla’s special curries, spicy. The lunch buffet is fast and budget-friendly if you find yourself in the neighborhood during the work week." - Kiki Dy

The food is fresh and tasty, with great service! The menu has a nice variety of Indian and Nepalese dishes. The tamarind and mint chutney are super flavorful and a pleasure to munch on. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. We really appreciated the attentiveness of the staff and the friendly conversation.

Great food, I told them your Chef have magic in his hands. Chicken tikka and tandoori chicken was our best. We know if in Savannah area where we will be eating always. Buffet on weekdays was great too, great value for money! Fresh Tandoori naan as well. Authentic Punjabi- North Indian taste!

Google
We travelled all the way from Savannah to richmond hill just to try the food at this restaurant after hearing so many recommendations on Facebook it was worth driving to here! Ambience fantastic and good staff we ordered lamb chops was delicious Kitchen needs more focus on tikka masala it was not even tasting as traditional tikka masala but thanks for the papad we loved it

We don't normally take a chance on random ethnic food while in the midst of a road trip but we went for it on this one, MOSTLY because of all of the positive reviews on Google Maps. Well, it tracks - this place was REALLY good.

Google
I want to be honest with you. I have not been a big fan of Indian food. This was a whole new experience! I'm excited to try more dishes from here. I was visiting my sister nearby, and she recommended the shrimp stew. My wife ordered the mango chicken and both dishes were very good! I would definitely recommend it. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Google
This place is an absolutely amazing Indian restaurant in the Richmond Hill area! My husband and I have been there a few times and we always had a good experience. The dishes were served warm and quickly, and everything was tasty. I'm not a fan of spicy food, but the dishes weren't overly spicy, which I appreciated. My husband, who likes spicy food, was also satisfied. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. The parking lot is spacious, and the place is clean.

Listen, I came here just trying to eat some vegetables and shrimp, I ended up in a full-blown flavor explosion that changed my life a little. I ordered a bunch of veggie-based and shrimp dishes. What I wasn’t prepared for was how ridiculously delicious everything was. I’m talking “close your eyes and hum while chewing” levels of good. The spices slapped in the best way possible—like a gentle, loving smack from your Indian grandma. The service? So friendly, I wanted to invite them to my birthday party. The vibe? Cozy enough to make you consider moving in. If you’re a fan of vegetables doing the most, or if you’re just spice-curious and ready to live a little, this is your spot. I’ll definitely be back!

Yelp
I ended up getting the Mulligatawny soup and the chicken vindaloo and garlic naan and a Taj Mahal beer lol I'm from the New England area, and I give it five out of five thumbs up !!!

Yelp
Fast service, hot delicious food, great flavors, wonderful rice. People are always kind here, it feels authentic. And our server made sure I ordered a dish I could eat that wouldn't contain dairy.

Yelp
This is our go to spot when we travel down to Florida. Just 5 min off the I95 gets you terrific Indian. We love their Masala and Butter Chicken. Of course we need to order two Garlic Naan (each comes with 2, so 4 total) to sop up the sauce. If you're in the area or traveling through, make this part of your destination.

Yelp
A little ways outside Savannah, but definitely worth the drive or if you have been out walking in the wildlife preserves in the area. Packed on a Saturday evening and doing a brisk takeout business, but service was very attentive and not a long wait for seating or food. They serve something like an Indian version of Indian chips and salsa once they seat you. The crispy snack was really good and all 3 sauces were, too (2 of them were spicy). We had vindaloo and Rogan josh, both medium spice and with chicken. We like some heat and even the medium heat level here packed some kick. But you could still taste all the other spices and flavors in the dishes so the heat was not overwhelming. It helped that we ordered Peshawari naan, which has a little sweetness to it, so if we got a really spicy bit of curry, we could take bite out of the naan to cool down the burn. If you like authentic Indian food with lots of flavor, this place is highly recommended.

Yelp
Ordering takeout made sense for me, but they were offering a buffet and it did look decent. My takeout was ready quickly and I got what I wanted. Ordering spicy left me with some noticeable heat but nothing intolerable. My okra was prepared with plenty of peppers and onions and had a complex, herbal flavor with bitter and astringent hints but plenty of delicious counterpoints. My mulligatawny soup was likewise salty as these things tend to be, but had a balanced flavor profile with herbs and spices aplenty. The rice was quite fluffy. There were plenty of other things worth ordering or checking in on at the buffet. Having found food like this on the go in this area was a win for me and I'd happily eat in if I had the chance.

Yelp
We have been here multiple times for dinner and are always impressed with the food and friendly service. Prices are also very reasonable for what you get.

Yelp
Authentic taster. We order Chief special" Paneer Lababdar" come with good sauce curry and panner was really cut in nice small cubes easy to eat. Highly recommend. They do have sweet lass. ( not on menu)it's really good. we also order papad that was ok. If you are in town try it out

Yelp
What a find! Excellent !!! The lunch buffet offered so many vegetarian and non-veg options. A wonderful opportunity to try multiple dishes without spending a fortune. Many of the dishes were as good or better than the Indian-Tibetan dishes I had in northern India.

Caro C.

Yelp
Amazing! Authentic , one of the best around the US , buffet has a lot of variety, service is great as well. Will be back!

Yelp
Food is always good! We do takeout because they are so fast and great quality. Travels well and stays hot.

Yelp
This place was very clean and customer service was excellent. The good is very authentic and I will be returning for the buffet during the hours of 11:30-2:30pm . They have different food options daily.

Yelp
Great food Very tasty and not too much curry for those who don't like that spice. I would definitely go back

Yelp
Consistently good food, good for groups. We love this place. If we have visitors that want Indian, we go here. I have tried many dishes and loved them all: Rogan Josh, Korma, Tikka, Tikka Masala, and Chettinad (which is more tomato base than the others). Alex really likes their lamb biryani. These dishes are easily 2 meals for us. Their vegetable samosas and pakoras are also great. The pakora is easily an appetizer for 3 people. We have ordered delivery, to go, and in house and received the same quality. They have even accommodated us with a party of 8. Next time: I'll keep working my way through the menu!
google avatar

Katherine M.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the chicken tikka, lamb boti masala and peshwari naan. We would order them again for sure! The chicken biriani and aloo gobi were average and we wouldn't reorder. The service lacked any charisma and felt like he'd prefer to be anywhere except serving food! If we lived closer we would order out regularly from here. Overall we really did enjoy the food!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was delicious and plenty for 3 people. Will return Service was excellent. Building is older, but overall restaurant was clean and welcoming.

Yelp
While traveling to Fl., we stayed in Savanah Ga and decided to have some Indian food. It was a little difficult to find in the dark while looking through dozens of restaurants in the continuous attached shopping centers, but we found it in a corner! The waiter and staff were very attentive and quick. I had a yummy lamb dish and my friend had butter chicken, both were plentiful, hot & delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Telvis W.

Yelp
Great service and amazing food. Staff is super friendly. I'll stop whenever I'm passing through town.
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
Been here before with friends. Very well seasoned dishes. Had the chicken Tika masala. Got it with medium spicy. Friends found it too hot but was perfect to me. I like a little 'burn' but not too hot. Had a couple of the different Naan. All in all a great meal. Staff was very attentive and provided great service. See ya next time we are in the area

Mel D.

Yelp
Fantastic food! Very well prepared. The vegetarian entrees were wonderful. Completely enjoyed the expertise of this restaurant. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
Fifteen miles south of Savannah (GA) lies the small town of Richman Hill. There's not much there except a cluster of older and newer motels. Oh wait, there is one thing: some of the best Indian food you will find anywhere in the USA. But don't take my word for it, just look at the accolades from patrons on the wall shown on the attached picture. The food ain't cheap, but it's not outrageous either. The menu features several goat entrées, and you don't see that very often anymore. But baigan bharta isn't on the menu and I've never seen that before either. Anyway, I was thrilled to find this gem by pure accident by doing a Yelp search. So if you fInd yourself crusing along I95 south of Savannah and you haven't already gorged yourself on the great Savannah southern cooking, give this place a try. BTW, you might find yourself being in the minority, it was packed with (India) Indians when I was there. Friendly staff, clean, not much ambiance, in a strip mall, pretty extensive menu, not vegan oriented. Pricy lunch buffet. I ordered medium heat which made me perspire, but my mouth didn't burn...a nice combination. All of my ratings are based on the food vis-a-vis similar ethnicities.

suzanne w.

Yelp
loved it- great quick off the highway option. good vegetarian and meat options- excellent flavors. Should've taken pics but ate too fast!
google avatar

Emi K.

Yelp
I'm loving the majority of their dishes, especially the curry! The only thing I would recommend my future self to stay away from is the chili dishes. These are very sweet and similar to sweet and sour Americanised Chinese food.

Yelp
Moved to Savannah from NY/NJ area a couple of ago and have been looking for a good Indian restaurant and Himalayan is it! The restaurant had very good reviews and they were me right! The server was very attentive, the food was fresh and the restaurant was clean. I highly recommend the Himalayan Curry Restaurant
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
What a great find! I'm visiting the area for couple months and was craving Indian. Did a quick search on Yelp and found this place with lots of good reviews. They opened at 5pm for dinner, we arrived about 530 and got the last open table and the wait for open tables started immediately. Pick up orders were going out and restaurant filled, quick service. Great recommendations to try and the food was fabulous! Great flavors, tender chicken. Garlic Naan was tasty. Can't wait to go back and try some other menu items! Definitely must try!
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
The food was delicious! The server was friendly and very attentive. We ordered the garlic naan and two of their specialty dishes. The curry chicken was a little too salty, but the rice helped to calm it down a bit.
google avatar

Phillip S.

Yelp
Ordered at 2 pm for pickup at 5. They couldn't find my order at first. Then, when found my order was awful. Naan was cold, butter chicken was cold, tikka and chicken 65 was cold. Quantities were small and order way overpriced! White rice was good. I won't be going back.

Yelp
Nepal is on India's northern border. I've spent time in New Delhi and this restaurant is the best of both worlds! The Nepalese spice blends and dishes are amazing. We are so lucky to have this hidden gem in a srip mall in Richmond Hill. The atmosphere is very casual and reminds me of a New Delhi restaurant. There is no fancy location or decor and a limited bar, but here it's all about the food. Raj and his team in front are quick to and courteous to serve you. Do not let the vegetarian dishes scare you with the delicate spices. You will not miss the meat. We eat here at least once a month and have never had a bad dish or bad service. We brought some friends and started this visit with the Lasooni Cauliflower and Chili Paneer. They were both amazing! I think this is one of the best ways to make cauliflower taste good without burying it in cheese. We also usually get the Chicken 65, crispy, deep-fried spicy goodness. Dinner dishes tonight started with Paneer Makhani and Matar Paneer. Cheese dishes in a curry sauce. We put them over the basmatti rice and each spoonful melts in your mouth. The Matar Paneer has the peas that add some texture. We also ordered the Chicken Tikka. Boneless chicken pieces marinated in yogurt with spices and baked in tandoor (clay oven). I also highly recommend the Butter Chicken, Dal Makhani, and Chana Masala. As well as any of the lamb or goat dishes, they know how to cook them perfectly! Make sure you order the bullet or garlic Naan to dip in every sauce and wipe your plate as well as the Raita to dip in between dishes to cleanse your pallet. Spice levels are not North Americanized levels, so adjust accordingly. They will serve mild to hot, and vindaloo will get your attention. Do yourself a favor and take a trip to Nepal tonight without leaving GA! Ask for Raj

Yelp
Great little Indian buffet. They always have what we are looking for. I would highly recommend giving them a try!

Yelp
Rolling through Georgia. Spending the night in Richmond Hill. It's easy to find this Gem of a restaurant. It has the most awards of any eatery in the county. Walking inside is a great mashup. Good ole Georgia families eating elbow to elbow with families from the great land of India. The place is quite busy on Friday nights so you'll want to bring a few ounces of patience along. We ordered the Garlic Naan. Two orders were more than plenty for two people. On our board was the Saag Curry with mixed veggies (rather light on the veggies in my opinion) mild sauce was pretty tame. Also tried the Bhuna Gosht medium and it was a bit hotter than we liked. But combining both dishes on the plate made a good compromise. Desert of Gulab Jamun was a treat, they are like donut holes in a sweet syrup.

Yelp
This gem is my most reliable option for a delicious dinner that is also safe for the celiac prone. After several visits and meals, not once have I had the slightest reaction from an unfortunate gluten allergy. Just thinking about the soups and authentic curry makes my mouth water! Most nights I'll even get a 2nd bowl to take home. The service is quick and friendly, and the bill is always reasonable. Try this place for sure!

Yelp
Himalayan Curry Kitchen unquestionably deserves a radiant five-star review! The delivery process was seamless, and the culinary experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The butter chicken exuded richness and an explosion of flavors, while the garlic naan was a perfect balance of garlic goodness. The house curry and chicken 65 were nothing less than culinary delights. My only minor quibble is that each order of naan includes only one piece, but the exceptional food quality more than compensates for it. We just order double. I can hardly wait to order from here again and eagerly anticipate a visit to the restaurant itself! Himalayan Curry Kitchen has rightfully earned its spot as one of our cherished dining establishments. Their unwavering dedication to delivering an authentic and sensational culinary adventure is evident in every bite, making it an undeniable destination in the realm of Savannah dining. Without a doubt, five stars!

Yelp
Wonderful service and exceptional food. Loved the Mango Chicken, Butter Chicken, and Goat Special. Butter and Garlic Naan were very good with Garlic being our favorite. The service was very attentive and although only open 7 days and being flooded with patrons they took care of everyone. Unlike Taste of India, glasses remained full and tables were well served. Raz took great care of us and made us feel at home. I'm so glad to see such a great restaurant in Richmond Hill. Next month they should have their liquor license and they will be set. Namaste.

Yelp
This place is da jam! Great atmosphere, great food, and customer service that is untouchable. If you have never had this type of food, don't worry. The staff will point you in the right direction and you'll be back. Just like us every time we come down to visit or daughter. I highly recommend!

Yelp
Excellent service, love the atmosphere, the food was amazing. Came here for the buffet, reasonable price, was not disappointed. I absolutely loved the different selections they had on the buffet. I got to try a little bit of everything. It was all really good. Definitely coming back.

Angelia V.

Yelp
The food was amazingly delicious, fresh and full of flavor. Every bite left a lasting impression upon my tongue. If we are in the area again, we will make it a point to stop and dine in.

Pete C.

Yelp
Great place for some curry. Service is decent enough but the food is great every single time.

Stacey B.

Yelp
Was staying over at creekfire RV resort and found this place super close by. DEEELICIOUS! We were the only people dining in.
google avatar

Ferihan D.

Yelp
Very friendly and welcoming environment. Service is great and they speak English well. Food is amazingly great and very well priced. My son normally never likes Indian food ( hates curry) but he loved their butter chicken and just couldn't get enough of it. Only thing I was not happy about was the Garlic Naan. Seriously I had Naan out of a frozen package better than what I paid $3 for (1 piece) there. Hope this was just a bad batch. But otherwise it was amazing and I would highly recommend for anyone to give it a try. Heat level is something to experiment with. When you say spicy or hot it's only the American version.

Helen D.

Yelp
This was the first place I ever tried Indian food and they helped me fall in love with it! The staff is always so pleasant and helpful to all their customers. I currently go the college in another city and this is the first place I eat at when I come home. This is a must try if ever in the area and have a love for awesome food!

John B.

Yelp
What a great find! Food is fabulous. Every dish I've tried has been delicious. Looking forward to going back.

Yelp
Delicious food with awesome spices. Easy in & out. Quick & friendly service. We eat here often.

Yelp
Delicious food! We had the garlic naan and the tandoori chicken and both were excellent. Highly recommend

Yelp
My favorite place to eat in Richmond Hill!! The only time I'm disappointed in this place is when there's a wait to be seated. The spicy vindaloo and chicken biryani are our favorite dishes. For the kids, we get the naan pizza, which is basically naan with mozzarella melted over the top. We love their appetizers as well. They can get very busy on a Friday or Saturday night, but they do take reservations.

C M.

Yelp
Wow! Driving north on 95 from Florida and found this gem right off the interstate. Food was outstanding and fresh! We are always looking for good food on our drive down the coast and this is a great find. This is for sure going to be a staple. Highly highly recommend!

Yelp
We thought we had our favorite Indian cuisine locked down locally, until I heard from several people about Himalayan Curry Kitchen. Started with their version of fried chicken, Chicken 65. I don't know what seasonings they use, but it's delicious. Normally, I literally always get Butter Chicken, but seeing Lamb Biryani on the menu was too much to pass up. I've seen the biryani dish on a food/travel show and it looks amazing. This place made that dream come true. My wife got the Butter Chicken, and although it doesn't taste anything like the ones I've had elsewhere, it's flavor quickly became addicting. I could not stop dipping my garlic naan in the sauce. Cannot wait to come back for more. Five stars for food and five stars for service.

Sally S.

Yelp
It is a great Indian restaurant. We ordered lamb curry, garlic naan, bullet naan, and cheese naan. It was so delicious! The curry was creamy and super fragrant and the lamb was tender and flavorful! The naan were all freshly baked, soft, and tasty. The prices were also affordable. I highly recommend eating here!

Yelp
Ohhhhhhh my god was this small but cute place good! On my drive to Jekyll Island I was looking for spicy or Indian food and this place showed up. It was close enough to the hwy so I went for it. Im so glad I did! They offer a wonderfully balanced and seasoned buffet at lunch. It had a great selection of vegetarian options as well as a few meat curries. I ate 3 plates..... I wanted to keep going, but couldn't. It wasnt too spicy but it did have amazing flavor. With that being said, the one manchurian veggie dish packed the most heat. The service was fine. The price is great for what you get. If I lived in the area, I would be here all the time. Highly recommended
google avatar

Ho A.

Yelp
I ordered Goat Kadai, Mutton curry, Goat Biryani, Kashmiri Pulao, shrimp Korma, Goan Fish curry. I would rate 5/5 for all dishes except for Biryani might be a 4/5. The food here is not the best ever food of the kind I had but they are certainly worth a try. They have a great variety of Idian and Nepalese dishes from different regions like Goan, Hyperabad etc. All the dishes are very consistently flavorful with well balanced blended spice and aromatic gravy. The stewed meat are very tender and immersed well in these delicious different types of curry gravy. The servers are nice, service is very fast, the restaurant is clean, and finally the cost is reasonable. About 15 dollars pretax for a curry dish. I hope they would keep maintaining the same quality like this. I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely recommended!!!

Yelp
If only.... I purposely drove out of my way to get food here on my way north (again...) and it did not disappoint. My first trip up I was looking for coffee, which led me directly to the Himalayan curry kitchen. The staff... somehow, remembered me...even though I didn't get food the first time. (Time crunch, & decided coffee and pastries from next door were enough) So I vowed to return... and I am so so happy I did. The food... was divine. I ordered a "small sampling" of items that captured my attention... even though I wanted to eat EVERYTHING (& stay to try to conquer the whole food bar...lunch buffets are always tempting and yet competitive for me) I ordered the samosa chat, keema naan, and jeera rice. (Yes, sounds boring, but holy Batman, robin) The rice was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were full and rounded. The keema naan was a meal all in itself, and so so delicious. I finished it before I even got back on the highway. (safety third in my book)... and the samosa chat was so plentiful (and dynamic in flavor profile) I had a lot left over for later. (Road snacks!) If you're questioning, don't. Just eat here. It's sooo delicious. The servers are laid back, and obviously enjoy putting the best food in your belly. Thank you so much from one wandering foodie... I will be stopping any time I am within the area.
