Ok, so here's the thing.
I used to live in Chula Vista, where I was in love with Himalayan Tandoori & Curry house. Legit the best of the best here in SD in my eyes, recommended it to everyone.
10 months ago, I moved to East County. Every single place I have tried has left me sad. I didn't even want to give Yak & Yeti a shot, but they're right next to my job and on my way home, so one day I decided to say, "Whatever. I'm craving Himalayan. If I'm disappointed, I'm disappointed, and I'll just check another place off the list".
And let me say, I never checked them off the list.
My boyfriend and I order online almost once every week or two, it's been two months. They have a great deal on their app for $10 off that I use every time, so that's a big part of it. BUT GUYS. EAT HERE. I CANT STOP.
Bf gets chicken tikka masala spice level hot, with a side of butter naan, I get the paneer tikka masala also spice level hot with rice, then we share garlic and cheese naan. We are addicted to their naan. Surprisingly, a LOT of places screw up cheese naan some how, but I can't get enough here.
So last week, we were back in Chula visiting family, and since it was down the street, we decided to go back and get Tandoori & Curry house. I was excited, but come to find out... I actually love Yak & Yeti more. I never thought in a million years that Tadoori & Curry house could be replaced, but here we are. Bf mentioned he wishes his tikka from Y&Y would be more spicy, so we left a note online requesting it, and we got our ASSES KICKED by that heat. It was amazing. Call me a masochist but I was crying and smiling. My stomach was still hot the next morning and I was grateful.
Never any disrespect to T&C house, they're my OGs and it is never a bad time to get them when I'm in the area. But when given the choice... it's a no brainer for me. Yak & Yeti has my heart. Our combined order usually comes to $40 after that coupon, and theres always half to save for later, so I count it as practically $10 for dinner tonight, $10 for dinner tomorrow. They don't skimp on portions either. For eating out in this economy, that is not bad at all. I always get it right after work to take home and I feel like it heals my heart after a stressful day.
Staff is always polite and attentive. It's a cute little spot, looks like they do mainly take out orders at the time we're arriving, but someday I'll try eating in since they have a decent amount of seating and a relaxing ambiance.
Someday I'll take pictures, I'm usually just too busy tearing that food up to remember.
All that is to say, I will ride or die for this place.
