Our office holiday party was a huge success thanks to this catering service! The vegetarian options were just as incredible as the meat dishes, which made all our guests happy. The staff was so friendly and kept everything running smoothly. The samosas disappeared in minutes - next time we'll have to order double!

This place has a lot of good reviews so we decided to meet here for lunch. They had a good $14.95 lunch deal so that's what we picked. The lunch special came with plain naan, rice, rice pudding, soup, and two entrees. Choices were the usual 6 such as saag aloo, chana marsala, before korma, Chicken tikka marsala, chicken vindaloo, and I believe a chicken curry. Food was ok. The veggie korma and chicken vindaloo that I ordered were mediocre. I wish there was less sauce and more vegetables or meat. Food took a while and service was ok. The restaurant was empty when we arrived for lunch on a week day. A couple of other parties arrived while we were there.

Google
Our wedding tasting was such a wonderful experience! The chef took time to explain each dish and made excellent recommendations. We ended up going with the mixed grill and vegetable biryani - our guests haven't stopped talking about it. The service during the event was flawless too. Worth every penny!

Delicious! The chicken momo were some of the best I've ever had. The teka masala was a bit on the sweet side. The sag was amazing!

Frankie Parry

Google
What sets them apart is their authentic flavors and professional service! You can taste the care in every dish. Our guests commented it was the best catering they've experienced. The chickpea curry was a surprising standout - so rich and satisfying.

Kiera Burton

Google
Our diverse group of guests all left happy thanks to the wide variety of options! From mild butter chicken to fiery vindaloo, there was something for every palate. The staff was so helpful in explaining dishes to guests unfamiliar with Himalayan cuisine. The dessert platter was the perfect sweet ending.

Flora King

Google
The perfect blend of professional service and homemade flavor! You can tell each dish is made with care and authentic recipes. Our guests kept commenting how it was the best catering they've had at an event. The chickpea curry was a surprising favorite - so rich and flavorful.

Google
Absolutely incredible food and service! The momo platter was bursting with flavor, and the staff went above and beyond to make our event special. The spices were perfectly balanced—highly recommend the lamb curry! Will definitely book again.

Yelp
We had the vegetable pakora as an appetizer, For lunch I had the chicken tikka masala with the garlic naan. We also ordered a side of cheese naan. Everything was delicious. This might be my favorite spot in town for the dish I ordered. Our server was great. He was very attentive. It was a very quiet and spacious lunch spot so great place for grabbing a wonderful meal & catching up with friends.

Yelp
The food was everything I was looking for good Indian. I had a place that I liked in La Jolla several years ago and haven't been able to find something on par, but this is my new go-to. The only reason why I took one star off is because there was no air conditioning. Other than that I will be going back for sure.

Yelp
Their food is absolutely amazing. The portion sizes, the assembly, the flavor... all great. I've ordered from them two times now on door dash, and both times, the food was packaged to prevent spillage. Each wet dish was wrapped in Saran Wrap. My favorite dish is their chicken korma- it's huge, and the flavor is fantastic. It's a very creamy dish, with chunks of shredded coconut in it. The chicken is also very tender. I've never had an issue with it being dry. Their cheese cilantro naan is great as well- very garlicky and cheesy and it comes with about four large pieces. Their mango lassi is a good size as well. I can't speak to service and ambiance at this time because I haven't visited them in person yet... but I will soon!

Yelp
I am from Hawaii and don't eat Indian food that much. They helped me pick out something that was not too spicy for me and it's very very good. I'll be coming back

Yelp
Had lunch with family here and the food was very good. The restaurant was very clean as well. The service was fine, nothing outstanding, but not bad either. Order your food and get your food lol. I would come back.

Yelp
I tried to give this place a try and I'm extremely disappointed with my delivery order.. I ordered the butter chicken and it came super OILY! So oily that I was taking spoon fulls of it out of the bowl.. the oil was dripping over the sides of the bowl. Not satisfied with this place...

Yelp
Vegan options are so yummy... very happy with our meals each time. We normally get vegetarian, as well as vegan, this place rocks, for our family with different dietary choices

Yelp
Great food was full of flavor and service was good. One of my new favorites! Lots of vegan choices, as well as meat and seafood.

Yelp
I've had this location bookmarked since pre-COVID times and recently went maybe in 01/2022 for dinner. I loved the ambiance. I love there's a big parking lot with street parking so that is not an issue. I came on a night where it was calm with just one other table. The waiter was very nice. They brought us each a small tasting of their lentil soup. OMG, it was delicious. It was the perfect amount and start to the meal. We also got the vegetable Samosas which were huge and also very tasty. I recommend those for starters. I Got the butter chicken with rice. Very hearty and yummy. My cousin got the Chicken Jalfreezy which has more veggies in that and that was also very tasty. I literally could not decided which was my favorite out of all of the dishes. The portions are huge so we obviously shared and still had leftovers to go. I came back on my actual BDAY with my family. This night was a busier night but service was still great; even with full tables and a line for to-go orders. Some of the items we ordered this night included: -Chicken Tandori with upgraded garlic naan: like a dry chicken over a bed of bell peppers almost like a fajita (4/5) -2 orders of Lamb biryani spice level 5: very flavorful, huge chunks of lamb, you get your money's worth and a huge portion we could've shared. I wish it was spicier so next time I will try a level 7 (5/5) -naan: simple, fresh and delicious (5/5) -cheese naan: sooooo good. OMG I will get this again (7/5) -Vegetable Samoasa-had it before will continue to get this lol (5/5) We got many other items like the dumplings and more curry-I just can't recall all the names. I was happy that my family enjoyed their meals. I was super excited that my boyfriend really liked it also. I've tried to take him to a few Indian restaurants but he was never really into them which meant I did not get to eat out with him at those restaurants often. Although this is Himalayan-it's similar to Indian food and I'm so happy I have a new spot where he can come with me and enjoy the meal as I prefer to eat out with a companion. Definitely recommend this restaurant and will be a regular here. Can't wait to try all of their items. They also have Vegetarian AND Vegan options :)

Kris A.

Yelp
The food here is absolutely delicious! The Malai Kofta is the best on the planet! Mango Lassi is fresh and yummy! Vegetable Momos are made with care. Everything on the menu seems to be made in small home-style approach. The staff are absolutely friendly and accomodating. You're eating in a strip mall restaurant -- they are probably limited to what they can do for the ambiance, and infrastructure (I think the ceiling tiles show that previous business was either Mexican, or Italian eatery.) but the draperies, and Indian / Nepalese / Buddhist artwork do add some atmosphere to the experience. Signage shows they are about to open an Indian Spice/Grocery store next door soon.

Yelp
Their food is great; best Indian food to order close to SDSU. Nice that you can get vegan curry. I recommend their lunch special if you are a fan of Indian food and need to get a fix often.

Yelp
I think I've been coming here since around 2018 back when I was still working in the area. I used to visit during lunch break back when they still had lunch buffets serving up a variety of entrees (Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Curry, etc). The service back then was awesome and my coworkers always wanted to go back. Of course, lockdown and career changes have kept me away from this place. I revisited recently following a trip to Luna Video Games 2-3 blocks away. Decided that I needed some Chicken Vindaloo in my life and my partner wanted some Chicken Korma. We ordered it to take home. Wait time estimate was 20 minutes. I wasn't actively timing them. We also got garlic naan and it ended up being a tasty meal and a good value. The leftovers reheated well (rice and dishes were heated separately on plates with a lightly dampened paper towel over them). Just a quick note, while there does seem to be more than adequate parking, the building itself might be easy to drive past without GPS directions.

Yelp
Interior is very nice. They have lots of sit down tables. You could definitely take a date here. Tried out their chicken korma. Friend got their chicken vindaloo, it was super spicy at medium, but they loved it/this is their fav spot for vindaloo. I was more of 3 star but friend gives them 5 so we settle on 4 stars overall. I wasn't a fan of the korma. Rice was good. Garlic naan was just okay, good price though. It was $18 per entree which is pretty pricey but at least we can get two meals out of it because they are very large portions. Both rice and curry containers were filled to the brim! Staff was friendly. Placed order quickly and food was ready before the promised time. They had tons of people coming in for to go orders, they are very popular! Parking lot is large and shared with other businesses. Road is pretty heavily trafficked so a bit tough with entry/exit during popular hours. The packaging for to go was very well done. Nice little box for the rice. They wrapped each curry with wrap to make sure nothing spilled out. Naan was kept in aluminum foil to retain heat. Everything was still piping hot after we got home. Def recommend to go, they do it right!

Yelp
Another amazing time at Yak & Yeti. Please try the garlic cheese naan... dipping it into our butter chicken and tikka masala was heavenly

Sarah ..

Yelp
My friend and I ordered takeout from this place and both got food poisoning. I've been sick for three days so far. My friend felt better after a day ate his leftovers. Same symptoms again. Vomiting and G.I. issues. I called to let the restaurant know and the response was "and what do you want?" They refused a refund. Deeply unimpressed.

Yelp
Ok, so here's the thing. I used to live in Chula Vista, where I was in love with Himalayan Tandoori & Curry house. Legit the best of the best here in SD in my eyes, recommended it to everyone. 10 months ago, I moved to East County. Every single place I have tried has left me sad. I didn't even want to give Yak & Yeti a shot, but they're right next to my job and on my way home, so one day I decided to say, "Whatever. I'm craving Himalayan. If I'm disappointed, I'm disappointed, and I'll just check another place off the list". And let me say, I never checked them off the list. My boyfriend and I order online almost once every week or two, it's been two months. They have a great deal on their app for $10 off that I use every time, so that's a big part of it. BUT GUYS. EAT HERE. I CANT STOP. Bf gets chicken tikka masala spice level hot, with a side of butter naan, I get the paneer tikka masala also spice level hot with rice, then we share garlic and cheese naan. We are addicted to their naan. Surprisingly, a LOT of places screw up cheese naan some how, but I can't get enough here. So last week, we were back in Chula visiting family, and since it was down the street, we decided to go back and get Tandoori & Curry house. I was excited, but come to find out... I actually love Yak & Yeti more. I never thought in a million years that Tadoori & Curry house could be replaced, but here we are. Bf mentioned he wishes his tikka from Y&Y would be more spicy, so we left a note online requesting it, and we got our ASSES KICKED by that heat. It was amazing. Call me a masochist but I was crying and smiling. My stomach was still hot the next morning and I was grateful. Never any disrespect to T&C house, they're my OGs and it is never a bad time to get them when I'm in the area. But when given the choice... it's a no brainer for me. Yak & Yeti has my heart. Our combined order usually comes to $40 after that coupon, and theres always half to save for later, so I count it as practically $10 for dinner tonight, $10 for dinner tomorrow. They don't skimp on portions either. For eating out in this economy, that is not bad at all. I always get it right after work to take home and I feel like it heals my heart after a stressful day. Staff is always polite and attentive. It's a cute little spot, looks like they do mainly take out orders at the time we're arriving, but someday I'll try eating in since they have a decent amount of seating and a relaxing ambiance. Someday I'll take pictures, I'm usually just too busy tearing that food up to remember. All that is to say, I will ride or die for this place.

Joyce W.

Yelp
The food is ridiculously good and the service is great! I only wish I can order their chicken tikka masala, shrimp korma, and mango lassi by the bucket.

Yelp
Great steamed chicken Momo. Definitely recommend! Other food is good as well. Hygienic environment and polite Manager!

Yelp
Food was really good and flavorful. We got the paneer tikka masala and butter chicken with garlic naan.

Yelp
This is our go to Indian restaurant in San Diego. It is consistently delicious every time which is hard to say about most Indian restaurants. I have had Indian all over the country and Europe and this is up there with some of my all time favorites. We always get it to go but the employees taking the order are always courteous. Our order always comes with a complimentary soup and they don't skimp on the portions. Would eat here every week if my waistline allowed it. Bravo Yak and Yeti, keep doing what you do!

Yelp
I've ate here a few times always forget to review, but I absolutely always LOVE the food. When I go into the restaurant the service is impeccable, and when I order the food to go it's still just as delicious. This time I ordered the food to go, so I can enjoy it while watching the finals. Butter Chicken (10/10)I ordered the butter chicken. Which per usual was tender, plentiful and the sauce is immaculate. I've attempted to make this at home, absolutely not the same lol. Their sauce Veggie Korma (10/10) I wanted a veggie side and this was my first time trying this, but it was mouthwatering and so delicious, as you can see from the scraping of my plates. I told my sister no way was this just vegetable lol, and of course the sauce was the highlight. Garlic Butter Naan - this was good as well. I ordered the garlic cheese bread naan, the reason I took a star off, but it was good enough. I will continue to dine here as they never disappoint.

Yelp
This is a little hidden gem on El Cajon blvd. From when you first walk in, you get nice dimmed lights and a homey feel. The service was quick and helpful. We ordered the butter chicken, chicken curry, chicken biryani and the garlic cheese naan. Everything was delicious and classic - you MUST get the cheese naan. That was the cherry on top of the whole meal. It might look a little pricey but the investment is worth it - you get what you pay for with massive servings. Definitely coming back here!

Sophie B.

Yelp
We just had a fantastic meal, with wonderful food, service and atmosphere. I really enjoyed my lamb dish, with buttered naan. The restaurant was impeccable and the music was pleasant, not so loud that we had to raise our voices. We will definitely be back. A great place altogether!
google avatar

Yael M.

Yelp
I had been meaning to check this place out for awhile and finally got the chance to. We had the entire restaurant to ourselves which was kind of cool. The menu is extensive and everything sounds pretty tasty. I ended up trying their chicken Tikka Massala and vegetable Korma. Both were savory and so delicious. The serving size is good for sharing and each entree comes with your choice of fresh naan bread or basmati rice. Will definitely be back for more.

Lily P.

Yelp
This restaurant is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. It's a very popular stop for pickups from Uber Eats and other such food delivery services. We enjoy the garlic butter naan, cheese naan, and garlic cheese naan. The tikka masala is delicious. We love getting the vegan mushroom tikka masala, chicken tikka masala, and paneer tikka masala. You can ask for your level of spiciness. This place has a quiet and not overcrowded vibe. You even get a lentil-type cup of soup while you wait.
google avatar

Shawnee B.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from Yak & Yeti for the first time and will definitely order from them again. Everything came packaged nicely and the portion sizes were perfect for us to share. We ordered the Tikka Masala, Vindaloo and the lamb curry. All the entrees came with basmati rice. We also ordered the lentil soup and it was probably the best I've had. We also upgraded our naan to garlic butter, definitely a game changer. Everything was delicious!
google avatar

Dejanai C.

Yelp
Omg I've wanted Indian food for months but couldn't find a place with solid enough reviews to trust. Each place either had issues with portion sizes or flavor. However; I stumbled upon Himalayan Yak & Yeti and the reviews were stellar and I see why! I picked up an order of chicken tika masala as spicy as possible with garlic cilantro naan. The masala is so buttery and smooth and delicious and the naan was perfect!!! The interior was dimly lit and looked beautiful and I would love to dine in soon. The food, prices, and service was stellar and I can't wait to return.
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
I never write reviews on Yelp, but I had to for this place. My buddies and I were in the mood for Indian food, one of them who normally does not enjoy that cuisine. After great service and INSANE food, he left saying the following quote: "This is a type of meal that if you have never experienced this kind of cuisine, will change your perspective on food entirely" Will be coming back as soon as humanly possible.

Yelp
I'm no expert but this is really good food. All the dishes are flavorful. I even got an eggplant dish and was surprised by the flavor of something when I usually get meat. And the dessert is amazing!! Interior is very pretty. Looks authentic!
google avatar

Yelp
Really great restaurant off the beaten path. The butter chicken was the best of the three dishes we tried. I'd definitely return!
google avatar

Isvanne V.

Yelp
I got a pick up order, my food was ready earlier than expected. Customer service was great. I got the chicken tiki masala, absolutely delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
Had a great experience, we order our food and it did take a bit of time to get it but the wait was worth the food. Ambience was good they have mucus playing in the background. They have good saag paneer that you should order

Michael B.

Yelp
Gentlemen at the counter quoted 5-10 minutes, order actually took 20 minutes. I don't mind waiting, but I hate being lied to. When I mentioned it to him he just looked at me and said 'ok' didn't offer an apology or anything.
google avatar

Felicity P.

Yelp
This place is delicious, if you dine in they give you a soup appetizer, the service is quick the food is fresh hot and delicious. I love me some aloo gobi got this at medium spice for a kick it was perfect for me. The chicken tikka masala was creamy and scrumptious. Also tried something different the chili chicken was something a little different was more mid tone flavors. Overall the portions were big enough for leftovers as well
google avatar

Yelp
Best Himalayan food I had , I'm so grateful I found this place . Went in three times in one week. Friendly manager and complimentary soup is a plus

Matt C.

Yelp
I've never had Himalayan food before but I plan on coming back! The resultant is an excellent date spot.

Yelp
I've ordered Chicken Tikki Misala from a few other places but none like this place, by far is the best! Their lamb and other chicken plates are delicious to but man o man this Chicken Tikki Masala is fireeeee!
google avatar

Tif M.

Yelp
I have my normal Indian spot picked out but wanted to try another one closer to home. The guy who served us had great customer service and seems like his genuinely cares about his customers. I ordered the chicken curry comes with rice or naan, as well as the tandoori chicken which comes on a steaming hot sizzle cast iron. Spice level was a medium. The have levels mild, medium and spicy. Overall food is taste amazing. Would recommend !

The D.

Yelp
sooo good!!! i loved the spicy butter chicken and the naan was amazing perfectly cooked!! one of the best basmati rice as well. Service and Ambiance is amazing as well.. Overall really great indian food, will be coming back more often!! :)

Yelp
Literally my favorite postmates place! Such good quality food, great deals, does NOT go bad, quick service. Beyond happy to have found my favorite Indian spot!!
google avatar

Hanafi M.

Yelp
Not bad, good parking and excellent service. Easy on the wallet and clean. Samosa was oily and the garlic nann had to much glee. The Lamb Korma was fine. And the soup delicious.
google avatar

Jason T.

Yelp
We got this delivered. Chicken curry: 7/10 nothing special imo. They use thigh meat so thats a plus. Medium + was a good spice lvl. Chicken tiki masala: 3/10 this tasted like butter chicken. Not sure if they mixed the order up, but we hate butter chicken. It tasted like butter chicken with a splash of tiki masala. Naan: 5/10 was flat and not puffy or crispy, but this could be because we got it delivered. Roti: 1/10 never had this and never will again. Price: $$$ pretty pricey ~$30/person
google avatar

Andrew G.

Yelp
We came in for lunch on a Sunday. We ended up getting vegan korma and vegan biryani. We didn't order it spicy enough but the flavor was good. It was a bit spendy but we enjoyed our lunch.
google avatar

Anna-Lisa D.

Yelp
Small little strip mall with lots of parking, this place doesn't look like much but wow was it delicious! Lots of seating inside with a traditional feel, I was welcomed immediately and my order was taken when I was ready. Ordered butter chicken with garlic naan to go, and it was done super fast, about 10 minutes! The container for the butter chicken was overfilled and wrapped in plastic, but that was ok because it was delicious and hot. The garlic naan was some of the best I've had. Definitely try this spot!
google avatar

Amy G.

Yelp
Best Indian food in San Diego hands down. We come here often and never disappointed. If you're looking for amazing Indian food this is the place to go.

Yelp
First of all, how can you not like a place called "Yak & Yeti"? I mean, barring a bad case of food poisoning, that alone is going to draw at least three stars. (Fun Fact: My kindergarten teacher gave us an assignment to draw our favorite animal. I drew a yak. I guess that's two facts, maybe only one of which is fun. Oh well, moving on.) Since we were going to a show at nearby Moxie Theatre, and this sounded infinitely more interesting than the "vegan kosher deli," which I believe is Hebrew for "this is a joke, right?", we traipsed across El Cajon Blvd. to this surprising restaurant in an otherwise depressing strip mall just east of Montezuma Ave. Dozens of trips to World Curry aside, neither one of us were what I would consider very seasoned Indian food eaters, so the very patient and helpful server guided us through some of the menu highlights. We landed on the Chicken Madras, Mutter Paneer, Chicken Momo, and Garlic Butter Naan, intentionally over-ordering so we could try an extra item or two and have some leftovers. The Chicken Madras was simply outstanding, with the great rich flavors that make you seek out Indian food in the first place. The Mutter Paneer was tasty as well, but extremely oily. It was especially noticeable after the leftovers spent a night in the fridge, but clear enough upon first bite at the restaurant. The Chicken Momo is described as a Nepalese-style dumpling and wasn't terribly interesting, but it was brightened up some by the accompanying sauce. Finally, while texturally well done, the garlic butter naan was disappointingly light on garlic. The cilantro sprinkles were a nice touch, however. They put a nice effort on the decor and serving dishes, to try to outshine the surrounding strip mall, but unfortunately, it is hard to escape the location, as a look out the window reminds you that you are on a not terribly appealing stretch of El Cajon Blvd. Another drawback is created by the apparently very large amount of takeout and delivery business they receive. At times during our meal, the number of delivery drivers and take out orderers waiting around the restaurant out-numbered the dine-in patrons. Having so many people standing around the dining room waiting for food definitely takes something away from the dine-in experience. The restaurant should probably figure out a better way to deal with to-go orders, so it's not so intrusive to the dine-in crowds. In spite of these drawbacks, the Chicken Madras was great enough on its own to warrant a return visit. I'm looking forward to trying a few new dishes, perhaps as I attempt to draw a better yak than I did as a five-year old.

Yelp
Always delicious! I substitute the pappad for rice and bread. It feels lighter and healthier. Hubby loved the salmon curry. They are great about special requests. Still my favorite Indian restaurant!!

MissQueen B.

Yelp
I got the butter chicken and the lamb vindaloo. Both of them were so incredibly delicious, I forgot to take a picture. The butter chicken especially had such a rich and amazing flavor to it. I also got samosas and fried cheese, both were delicious. The naan was so fluffy, we got garlic naan, plain naan, and the dessert naan which consists of coconut, cheese, gold raisins, and nuts. It was delicious! The service was great and people were continuously coming in and out for pick-up orders.
