The Most Beautiful Restaurants in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"This semi-private Japanese cocktail lounge features a drinks menu created by world-renowned bartender Shingo Gokan. A reservation is necessary to get into the bar, but once inside the scene is dimly lit, sexy, and with a vibe once described by owner Farshid Arshid as “a place where James Bond and Sammy Davis Jr. would meet for a martini.”" - Eater Staff

The 12 Most Elegant Cocktail Bars in Atlanta | Eater

"Himitsu is as luxurious as it gets in Atlanta. Meaning “secret” in Japanese, the bar is located in an unmarked location near its sister restaurant, Umi. The space was designed by British interior designer Tom Dixon and features wood and jewel tones and statement pendant lights. It’s reservation only (no password needed), but once you’re in you can indulge in their menu of Japanese craft cocktails. Bites and desserts by Umi’s chefs Fuyuhiko and Lisa Ito are available at Himitsu as well." - Vox Creative

Himitsu is more than your run-of-the Mill speakeasy bar. If you snag the code to get inside, you’re in on the sexy secret. The space is beautiful. Dimly-lit Tom Dixon lights adorn the room. The music is quiet enough to have a conversation. The service was warm and friendly; the cocktail program creative and delicious. We ordered the Papurika and Kemuri. Both were delicious, with fresh quality ingredients. I will definitely return to explore more of the menu.

Himitsu is hands down one of Atlanta’s best-kept secrets, and for good reason—it’s the perfect blend of sophistication, creativity, and atmosphere. The vibe is upscale yet unpretentious, making it the perfect spot for an intimate night out or a refined prelude to an evening in Buckhead. Alex, one of the mixologists, is truly a master of his craft. Every cocktail feels like a work of art, balancing innovative techniques with a respect for classic flavors. Shoutout to Roderick and Brendan, whose hospitality and cool energy make every visit unforgettable. And let’s talk about the playlist—every track hits, setting the tone for a laid-back yet elevated experience. Himitsu is one of those spots you almost don’t want to share—it’s that good. But it’s definitely worth the hype for those lucky enough to make it in. Just don’t forget: this is a place to bring your best vibes and your best company. Cheers to keeping the magic alive!

This place is effortlessly cool with a unique decor, killer cocktails and fun vibe. We have been a couple of times and rather enjoyed it after dinner so highly recommended if you can figure out how to get in. I was most impressed with the Japanese margarita which I have since worked hard to replicate at home and is now my go to for impressing friends.

Google
Himitsu is such an amazing experience. I made a reservation for a Saturday at 8:15pm for a solo night out. I arrived a tad early but Brendan was very accommodating and opened the door early for me. I wanted to try alot of different items so I alternated between drinks and various dishes all night. As the night went on the bartender, Roderick, began to understand my taste preferences a bit more and recommended some amazing drinks and dishes for me. For food I tried the yellow tail, the wings and the duck. My absolute favorite was the duck. I will definitely be a regular visitor for that alone. For drinks I had the Champagne Pina Colada to start. Then I transitioned to the Waygu old fashioned which would pair great with a nice steak. It reminded me of eating a steak that is braised in bourbon. Roderick then made a variation on a Manhattan for me which was great to sip on after my meal. He was also able to craft a few shots that I loved. He's a true cocktail artist. The ambiance here is great. Lots of 90s and 2000s hip hop/ rnb. All the bartenders were really nice. An easy place to chill and vibe alone, with friends or come on a date. I'll definitely be coming back.

Himitsu is a truly immersive experience that delights all of the senses! From the visually stunning ambiance to the intimate atmosphere, every detail is thoughtfully crafted. The cocktails and appetizers are nothing short of exceptional, showcasing a perfect balance of flavors. Entry was smooth and effortless, and the hostess was both knowledgeable and welcoming, ensuring a seamless start to the evening. Roderick, the bartender, is a true expert, offering attentive service and a deep passion for craft spirits. My personal favorite, the Wagyu Old Fashioned, is a masterpiece—the texture is luxuriously smooth, while the flavor is bold and complex. A must-visit for any connoisseur of fine cocktails and culinary excellence!

This is a beautiful place with an excellent ambience. Bartenders are knowledgeable about their craft. Brandon provided fantastic service. Great place to celebrate or bring a date. It's very expensive. My 12-year whiskey was $45 a pop. My friend and I walked out with a nearly $200 bill. So this isn't your everyday drinking hole. We came last night on a Saturday evening and it was not that busy. I hope the place doesn't go out of business. I think they went overboard on pricing, thus 4 stars rather than 5. This was my second time here. The first time I was here Chops nearby caught on fire in this bar filled with smoke and we all had to evacuate.

Google
The door guy named Brandon pretty much called me a slur and was really rude and offensive. Horrible energy as soon as you are greeted by Brandon. Which makes the drinks all the more mediocre..just sad because this wasn't my experience the first few times I came here. He switched up along the way, not sure what his deal is.

Feels like a speakeasy bar. Good vibes and great drinks. Getting a reservation was a task, was it worth it? Absolutely yes. The decor and ambiance is very classy and dark. They have bar food, nothing fancy. Their espresso martini was amazing. I would recommend reservations ahead. Parking was easy and they have valet as well.

Yelp
Total vibe in the city. Exclusive on most nights but Thursday is the cheat code for non-members to gain entry.

Yelp
Himitzu, Atlanta's hidden gem of a lounge, is celebrated for serving some of the city's finest cocktails, a perfect follow-up to a superb dinner after UMI. This speakeasy distinguishes itself with elegant decor and a cozy atmosphere, providing a unique setting for socializing with an impressive crowd. It's a must-visit destination in Atlanta. Secure a dining experience at UMI first, then politely request the secret code for Himitzu access. If it's a quieter night, you might just get the code, or alternatively, you can make a reservation via email. A little charisma can go a long way while making that reservation :)

Yelp
Always an incredible experience through and through! The great cocktails match the great service!

Yelp
My friend and I chose Chai Yo for a pre-birthday celebration dinner. Towards the end of our dining experience, we noticed an adjacent establishment that caught our interest -- HIMITSU (speak easy). Curious, my friend approached the host at the neighboring place -- HIMITSU to inquire about it. However, the host's response left much to be desired in terms of professionalism. He mentioned that a group of 40 people, whom he referred to as "members," (Caucasian people) would be arriving shortly, and they had priority seating (over us). He suggested we return around 11:15 pm if we wanted to be accommodated. Before settling our bill, we noticed several people attempting to enter HIMITSU, with a notable trend: those who were accepted appeared to be predominantly white, while those who were denied entry were from diverse racial backgrounds. These observations only served to confirm our suspicions of discrimination taking place at HIMITSU. As the clock neared 11:00 pm, we settled our bill with our server at Chai YO and I approached the host (hoping he really wasn't a racist) for further information. The host informed us that entry to HIMITSU was typically reserved for special (white people) individuals in the film or sports industry who had been invited by the owner. I inquired if my film industry affiliation would grant us access, to which he replied negatively. I then asked about making a reservation, and he advised us to do so for the following week. The host's response was highly unsatisfactory, especially since we had no intention of waiting until the following week for a reservation. AND this seemed contradictory to the "members only" policy he initially mentioned. In frustration, I sought clarification on their standards, to which he responded by claiming our server Bryan at HIMITSU had informed the host Kevin that our tip did not meet their 20% standard. This left me baffled, as our check totaled approximately $290, and we had tipped around $360, well above the 20% threshold. It became apparent that the host's explanation was inconsistent and lacked professionalism. It's unfortunate to say, but his actions and comments strongly suggested racial bias. In summary, it appeared that the host had no valid reason to deny us access, and the decision seemed to be rooted in racial profiling and stereotypes. Please be cautious and consider your choices carefully when dining here, as we experienced prejudiced behavior from the host. Hindsight, I should have immediately ask for the manager's assistance to address the biased behavior exhibited by the host. #racists #prejudice #disgusting #shutitdown

Yelp
Atlanta's best kept secret! Himitsu is the ultimate example of an exclusive, swanky, and intriguing experience. I am not a member of this establishment (I don't even know how you become one tbh), but my friend and I were able to put our names down on the waitlist after dining at Umi. Impatience quickly got the best of us, so we decided to march on over to the entrance of Himitsu (the inconspicuous door located directly next to Chai Yo Thai, with the LED wall sign next to it) and asked the bouncer how long our wait was. He mentioned that we were in luck and that he would be able to accommodate our party right then - after which he pushed a button and the inner door slid open to reveal a stunningly sexy yet cozy cocktail bar. Talk about a dramatic entrance! If you're not a member, you can't sit at any of the tables in the middle of the room (apparently). We sat at a booth and took in our surroundings. It sure felt like everyone knew just about everyone else (clearly all the members are regulars), so it's a bit of an odd, outside-looking-in vibe if it's your first time. Oh well. I ordered the Raichi to drink, which was excellent. Similar to a lychee martini, but slightly less syrupy. This is the type of bar where I'm guessing every drink is top notch! Good experience overall, glad I got to try it once!

Yelp
If you want to impress your date or have a great night out with your close friends Himitsu is the place you need to attempt to get into. It's a password required speakeasy that's not only parallel to Umi Sushi, but they share the same kitchen!! You'll have access to the most popular items on the menu while also having exclusive access to their signature cocktails. The dim lights, Vegas like music and the overall ambiance makes this space extremely sexy. This establishment is only open Thursday through Saturday.

Yelp
Himitsu is an intimate upscale speakeasy lounge near the St. Regis Hotel, but with an upbeat lively atmosphere. Himitsu translates to "secret" in English. How fitting, right? The food menu is a selection from Umi Sushi, but the drink menu is extensive. The cocktails were beautifully crafted, but I of course had to dive into their wine menu. With only 60-seats, Himitsu is reservation only, though it helps knowing someone that has a member's only key card.

Yelp
Stopped by for dessert as this was the only place offering dessert after 10pm. Espresso Martini was the best I've had Great vibe, good music

Yelp
I got the matcha espresso martini very delicious and smooth. Great ambiance; dimmed and upbeat. I got to sip a few other drinks all very good and well balanced flavors. Great for a evening out on town square. Somewhat of a speakeasy regarding location & absolutely for drinks.

Yelp
I brought another out-of-town guest to Himitsu last night and another home run by the staff! Eric, as always, thank you for making this happen and I hope to see you soon -

Yelp
I absolutely love this trendy, energetic, and fun spot! Very classy. After leaving Umi (the sushi is the best), Himitsu was the icing on the cake of a wonderful evening. Just exquisite. The service was next level. White glove from beginning to end. Thanks for a wonderful time! Always a great choice.

Yelp
Espresso Martinis were perfect, service was spot on, doorman were very friendly. Love everything about the vibe and crowd.

Yelp
Himitsu nailed the intimate yet lively atmosphere a speakeasy should have. Hands down an excellent night out; I really enjoyed my experience here. My drink of the night was the Raichi, which means: Inspiring, Confidence, Gentle and this drink checks each of those boxes It was so delightful and energizing- although I may have drank a few too many .

Yelp
Hmm.. Honestly, I don't know what the obsession is all about. It's a BAR. Nothing more, nothing less. I wouldn't call it a speakeasy. For me a speakeasy is a place that allows for a conversation and offers prohibition era live music. This place is loud but not due to a live band. I wouldn't attempt a convo here. The only thing you will learn is the depth of your companion's pocket. I was too full after dinner at Atlas so only tried a few drinks here - Kemuri and Sazerac. Kemuri was nice and smoky (literally) but I can't say it was worth $21. Sazerac is a classic recipe, hard to screw up. I like the atmosphere and they have a decent selection of booze but again, tons of places in ATL do that. The whole "getting in" thing is annoying but I guess it works for them. Would I go back? Probably but only if in the area and all other options have been exhausted. If you want a real speakeasy, go to Savannah and check out Mata Hari. You will gain an instant understanding of what it used to and should be.

Yelp
Exclusive. That's probably the best word to describe this bar. We arranged for a "reservation" the week before our visit on a Saturday night. This place is literally right next-door to Chai yo and Umi Sushi if you're thinking about combining it with dinner. The cocktail options were definitely unique! The lychee martini and cucumber vodka cocktail were great. Their take on the Moscow mule with Earl Grey was weak. We indulged in some Japanese whiskey which was nice to have available. Heads up, they charge you two dollars for a large cube of engraved ice and call it something fancy. This is a first for me and probably a last. I'm paying $25 for one pour of whiskey- I expect the ice to be gratis. The decor inside was dark and modern, but there was nothing really special other than the last chandelier. Our service was good, but nothing special. I suspect the reservation policy keeps capacity down and the place from being overcrowded. The music is 90s with some EDM. I really liked it. In summary this place is exclusive, and you pay for it. The place was a little understated. For the average person it's probably a one off event. For those 1%ers, I imagine they could come here regularly, If only for the lack of crowd. Most of the cocktails are pretty good and some are just bland which I suspect is probably average for most Atlanta bars.

Yelp
Finally got around to visiting Himitsu after MANY great dinners at Umi... the reservation process was simple and efficient and anyone claiming otherwise apparently likes a lot more fuss. I wrote one email, replied to one; got a text confirmation and a 1 minute phone call from an elegant and efficient voice the day prior to share the code for the evening. Quickly I'll dispel a few notes after having read other reviews here: I heard word of mouth that it was amazing from people I trust, so I read other reviews purely for sport. 1) you can't remove a star because you think drinks are "expensive." Make more money or go somewhere cheaper. 2) reservations keep things from being crazy. You don't have to agree. But you do need a reservation. 3) I'm not a yelp elite: but they have a tendency to write the wackiest reviews... since pure volume of reviews gets you that title, ok... I write about the best places, with no expectation about special treatment from them. The people who will resonate with MY review are still reading - thanks! The service was solid, polite, efficient and pleasant. My guests were late so we were asked to move to a smaller table, which I understand, but we held our spot and they arrived. Wasn't a big deal to us that they asked, and they offered a round if we had chosen to move. Great cocktails, lovely glassware, and comfy loungey seating.... also, the Mille crepe cake was yummyyyy.... can't wait to get back!

Yelp
Himitsu is located inside an unmarked entrance in between Chai Yo and Umi. You need a passcode to get in, but I've always gone with a group so I haven't had to figure how the system works. They serve the same food as Umi (I think it's the same chef). Some of my favorites include the miso cod, lobster box, hamachi carpaccio, spicy tuna on crispy rice...and some extremely buttery lobster dish that was great but I was so overwhelmed with the butter. The highlight was the cocktail. Try the Yuzu!!!! Literally the best margarita I've ever had.
google avatar

Isabella D.

Yelp
This place is very cool. The entrance is easy to miss because it is a speakeasy. The coasters all are super cool of people saying shh. The butter old fashion was soooo good. I don't normally drink bourbon but after trying my boyfriends I got it too. He also go the wagyu Manhattan. The matcha espresso martini just had a little matcha sprinkled on top rather than a matcha flavor. But everything was good!

Tim D.

Yelp
Service was impeccable -- everything from the host to server highly polished. Sushi menu was limited but the high quality made up for it. Everything was a hit with our table. Would happily return!

Yelp
After an epic Omakase dinner at Umi, my date and I headed next door to Himitsu for late night cocktails and we loved it. The music was awesome, atmosphere is right up there with any upscale bar or lounge you'd find in West Hollywood or Meatpacking District/SoHo in LA or NYC. The bartenders are exceptionally talented (especially Brendan) and super friendly, drinks were fabulous, and it was a very fun, eclectic, interesting crowd. Put your trust and date in the hands of the bartender or server - you won't be sorry.

Mary P.

Yelp
We've been to himitsu many times in the past with no issues. However, this year they started to enforce a "Black card member" referral to make a reservation. My time is important and if a company is making me jump through hoops just to enter their establishment....it's not worth it. Save yourself time and head over to the new, super swanky Garden Room for amazing food and people watching. Or to the St. Regis bar, or across the street to Southern Gentleman. Himitsu shares their kitchen with Umi, so if you're planning to go to Himitsu for food, don't waste your time. Go to UMI for the same EXACT food, but better experience and ambiance.
google avatar

Tiff H.

Yelp
I've never been to Umi - as much as I've wanted to, it's just never crossed my mind when I can indulge in Sushi House Hayakawa for a fraction of the cost. But when my friend mentioned his friend had an "in" for a table at Himitsu without making a reservation, I was pretty excited. There's a secret code to get in. Once in, a hostess will greet you at the hostess stand. The entire entrance is super dark and a little disorienting, but you can see the entire dimly lit restaurant/lounge ahead of you. It's sophisticated and upscale - a must-see to believe experience. We were seated at a back corner table on the second floor - even though I was worried that would result in less attentiveness, our server seemed to always be around. The vibe is a chic but slightly noisy atmosphere, mostly due to the pounding music. Drinks all around! The cocktails are beautifully made. I ordered Sakura and a Raichi. Both cocktails were the sweeter options from the menu. I couldn't tell they were strong until after I finished both. For those fainter of heart, these are some safe but delicious cocktails. We ordered some desserts to start out with before we realized we were starving and wanted some legit food. After eating the dainty but beautifully made desserts (the profiteroles are pretty darned good), we ended up ordering the yellowtail jalapeño, the scallop tiraditto and the lobster crunch box. While these apps aren't coming from the Umi kitchen, it really gave a glimpse into what I was missing out on. Everything was tasty and fresh, from the yellowtail to the scallop and even the lobster sushi roll. I'm not a fan of exclusivity but Himitsu is a pretty cool exclusive venue. If you ever find yourself at Umi and get the chance to venture into Himitsu, don't turn down the opportunity.
google avatar

Alex P.

Yelp
The degree of exclusiveness that Himitsu strives for is astounding. You have to be referred in order to get in, you enter a code at an obscure door and enter to be confirmed for the reservation. It's a new experience for Atlanta and will likely fill in the gap in the market left previously by Prohibition bar that closed. Interior is romantic, nostalgic and elegant. The glassware is crystal. The drinks are innovative. Food is a selection of the Umi menu and unless you've been living under a giant rock (Stone Mountain?), you will already know that it's the best Japanese cuisine in the city. Himitsu will be one of my go to spots in Atlanta from now on, despite the heavy price tag. There were a couple disappointments that occurred during the visit. I view mixology as an art form, however the art here was not to my taste. As a matter of fact, others at the table did not enjoy their cocktails either. I realize that it's a matter of opinion and perhaps taste, but it did seem that it wasn't just myself that found some of the drinks lackluster and others horrific. Even the ones that I did think were decent, it wasn't anything to be blown away by in taste or presentation. The other disappointment were certain service elements. The waitress was very nice, but not attentive whatsoever. She couldn't notice that we are sitting without drinks for extended periods of time. I had to repeatedly turn around and look for her. It was a little annoying, especially given that this is a very small establishment. On a positive note, food did come out very quickly and was spectacular. Himitsu wouldn't last long in a city like New York or Chicago, but it's a step in the right direction for Atlanta. The cocktails need to be reengineered from the ground up, the vibes are excellent and the service needs minor tweaks.

Kelly S.

Yelp
Love love love this place. My favorite cocktail spot in Buckhead, or in all of Atlanta really. Depending on the server you get, they can be a *little* slow, but this is a laid-back kind of place where you shouldn't be in a hurry anyway. They leave you alone for the most part, which I really like.
google avatar

Genesis R.

Yelp
Me and some of my military friends went not too long ago and the service sucked and food sucked. The waiter was being rude to me but I kept it to myself, then I saw how the waiter was interacting with my WHITE friends and I asked them if they knew him or had been here before and they said no. I told them to watch how he acts with me, so I attempted to speak to him again. I asked if I could have some more water and he said you still have some in your glass and walked off. My friends said you're right, we hadn't noticed let's go (as we had already finished eating). I would not advise going t
google avatar

Deshawna S.

Yelp
The staff was rude to us, the food and drinks didn't live up to our expectations. The food was blah and the drinks were watered down and overpriced.
google avatar

Emma H.

Yelp
I was a little underwhelmed by the service and hype around the secret/exclusive entry requirements. The food is undoubtedly good, and the cooler/more famous you seem may get the extra effort from the sighing, unsmiling staff. We had a reservation and waited about 10 mins to be seated which seems to be pretty quick compared to some reviewers' experiences. I'm not rating based on cost - it's an unfair factor, since you know what you're getting when you choose a place - but as information for value-conscious diners, this place ain't for you with smaller portions than American appetites typically prefer. Food really is good but I think Umi is a way better bet for an enjoyable experience.
google avatar

Eric C.

Yelp
Not sure what all the hate is all about but we had a great experience here. We were eating at Umi and towards the end of the dinner (I think they needed our table) they offered us seating over at Himitsu. Now, I had never heard of the place but for very good reason. It's suppose to be secret! They call themselves a speakeasy so primarily for lounging, drinks and some food if you're still hungry. We headed over, entered the code and got to our table. Their drinks were delicious and had a ton of choices. The space is small but they had seats at the bar, around small tables or on the second floor. When you enter, you check in and then go through an automatic door. We ordered our drinks and put in for some additional apps just to try it out. The food here was much like what you would expect at Umi although you can't order everything on Umi's menu. Only a select few items are available. It's fairly dark in there but it's fun and relaxing and a great place to chill with friends. I'm not entirely familiar with who gets invited or whether just anyone can get in but if you can, what a cool thing to be able to access in the future.

Yelp
I had a great experience here. I enjoyed the food and drinks. Atmosphere was great. Would recommend this to anyone that wants to impress a date. A good place to get drinks before dinner.
google avatar

Hannah N.

Yelp
They kicked us out because they messed up their reservations after letting us in and seating us at the bar, saying someone else had a reservation they forgot about, then tried to threaten the cops on us because of it. From, "Our hostess messed up reservations" to "Your friends are too drunk" even though they only ordered waters. Truly horrible experience, we had ordered drinks and they were cancelled as we were escorted out for no reason other than the hostess messing up seating us. Sorry my family wasn't young and pretty enough for your standards. We're only in Atlanta once a year. Figure it out before seating patrons and ruining trips. I guess Super Bowl weekend means "young and pretty people only." Exclusivity at the expense of 6+ drinks? Sorry your bartenders had to suffer at the expense of your horrible managers and front wait staff.
google avatar

Régine T.

Yelp
Himitsu was quite the experience. Very exclusive entrance and lobby which I really liked. Very small inside but the ambiance and decor is beautiful. The downside is that they don't serve food just drinks so this is def an after dinner spot to impress a date or with a few friends. Space is limited so keep in mind. Small parties are recommended. Our server was nice, we also made friends with the bartender David who was excellent. He made some incredible espresso shots for us that were delicious! Also the Lychee Martini is lovely. Would go back again.
google avatar

Paula S.

Yelp
Food was okay service was pretty bad. Even the drinks were too sweet its like nobody cares.
google avatar

Yonina G.

Yelp
Himitsu means "secret" in Japanese. So, to get in, you're supposed to send an email and wait for exclusive invitation to come by. I've done that three times and the one time I actually got a response, It was a very vague rejection. It was my husbands birthday so I showed up anyway. I had to look into an odd viewfinder box to get them to open the door. I explained my email and vague rejection. They let us in- the place wasn't nearly full. The space is cozy, dark and beautiful. The drinks and the bartenders were fantastic. I asked them why it was so hard to get in and they had no idea what I was referring to. Odd, right? An hour later, a manager comes by and tells me I will never have an issue getting in again. TLDR: once you get past the poorly executed attempts to make this place exclusive, this place is great. Beautiful decor, great music and excellent cocktails.
google avatar

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. My reservation was confirmed after one day. I had two cocktails and the edamame and edamame hummus. My favorite part of this venue was the music. Mostly 90s RnB. I love that only certain people get in so the crowd was very posh. I'd love to go again! Good luck getting confirmed! It's worth the wait!
google avatar

Candyce V.

Yelp
I know this may be odd, but I have to start by saying the music that was playing on the night I went to Himitsu was DOPE! It was a mix of 90s early 00s R&B and Hip-Hop, which made the vibe even cooler. Of course, as others have stated, this is a speakeasy and you can't just roll up all willy nilly and think you're going to be able to dine there. Make sure you have a reservation first. We only had plans to enjoy drinks here so I can only speak on that. The cocktails were pricey, but good. I'd like to return and try the food...and experience the restaurant itself again.

Yelp
Great space for cocktails, but I'd stick with eating at Umi. Two friends and I made reservations earlier in the day and were able to secure a spot for a Thursday night. Just go on their website and follow the steps or follow up your dinner at Umi here. I highly recommend the Yuzu cocktail and possibly a few appetizers, such as the yellowtail jalapeño and spicy tuna over crispy rice.

Yelp
As a customer I thought I would let you know of my experience: This was the most frustrating event I've ever had to plan out with an establishment! I spent 3 days calling 5 times, leaving multiple messages, emailing the reservation email listed, and direct messaging their Instagram with no response! I then got an email on the 3rd from the PR company saying it was set, and I was good to go! I followed up with the person 3 times after, and they kept reassuring me I they would email me the codes! They never did! So I called them on a Friday the following week after scheduling my reservation, and they had no idea of my reservation what so ever ! So I had to leave my current event to reschedule last minute with them again, and Then they ask for my credit card for up to a $960 reservation fee on the eve of the event! This would of been just fine to know a week ago, but a bit unprofessional to expect this late in the game. All they could say is that this is how their business is which is scary if this is considered the average way to treat a customer. As an everyday customer this is never acceptable! Especially since they never answer their phone, email, or messages the first 5 times I tried. They told me different people check the emails, and a lot times skip nights in checking it. Which is why they don't all know of who is scheduled. On the eve of an event that I've been planning for two weeks I was left trying to reschedule my night during an event I was at, or left no choice to spend $960! Luckily, one of my favorite bars (Bar Margot at the Four Seasons Hotel) and a far superior speakeasy aka Red Phone Booth within seconds was able to schedule us in ! They didn't care whether we were bloggers or not, and answered their phone on the first ring on a busy Friday ! Save your money, time, dignity and just go to Red Phone Booth, Bar Margot or hell any where else !

Yelp
If I could give the place no stars I would. Food was horrible and they wouldn't let me in the first reservation we had. Yes because I had sneakers on. They did let my white wife in with her sneakers on though.

Yelp
If you can get in you must go ! We didn't even have a reservation we just walk in aand they gave us a code and we put it in the key pad next to the unmarked door at the One Bulkhead Plaza building , you enter a tiny room where a hostess there to welcome you and seats you inside a very small bar area. The cocktails are different than any we've ever had before and they are delicious ! I will definitely go back!

Yelp
I'm a fan only because the DRINKS are amazing and the "exclusiveness" in the way you enter. lol. However, let me say that there was nothing so "WOW" about this place. It was super dark... just as Umi is. Yeah, the bulbs above are cute... and the wall art is creepy... but that's about it. I ordered the salmon tartare annnnnd... nope... don't order it. They ran out of the wagyu roll... so we ordered the pork buns. The pork belly was very tender, and it had great flavors. I'm a sucker for soft buns. ;) All in all... I enjoyed myself. It's a small place... but you don't feel cramped. I really liked how the bar and tables kind of flowed into each other.

Yelp
Great drinks & the perfect ambiance for a late night drink/snack! It is a very exclusive bar that requires reservations, so expect it to be fairly crowded. If you're looking for a sweet drink I highly suggest the rai-chi. It's basically a Lychee Martini & they make it the best! Their Old Fashions are delicious as well.

Yelp
Been here in shorts and flip flops before at around 8 pm, decided to give this place a shot as i'm a huge fan of UMI. Nothing spectacular. All around, the food was just ok, felt like they were leftovers from UMI. Came here again on 8/19 for a huge gathering of ~ 20 people around 11:30 pm, I was the only one that was turned away because I was wearing a t shirt, pleaded with the doorman but he was too afraid of getting fired. No problem, I understand. I went home to change and came back. There were about 7 guys without a collared shirt. Cool Questioned the hostess inside why I was turned away when there were clearly so many guys in t shirts and her answer was "these guys have special VIP privileges/cards from the chef himself and they called prior to inform us". Cool story, I'll just give you the benefit of the doubt. Pretentious as hell, I'll just continue having dinner at UMI and then head to st regis. No point labeling yourself a speakeasy when anyone can just press the doorbell and people are treated differently regardless of their compliance to a random dress code. For the drinks you just add a liqueur, substitute an aperitif, top some truffles here and there, give it a funky name. Kinda creative i guess. Maybe add some gold flakes or caviar in the near future to revolutionize your nectar of the gods so the mysteriousness and prestige of this speakeasy can be reinforced.

Yelp
You can't sit with us!! Hahaha. Private lounge for the elite of the elite and I'm proud to say that I completely enjoy this place every visit!!.. The atmosphere is impeccable and lux, the service is top notch and the drinks are just right... pinky up while sipping on your historic Side Cart, Manhattan or your favorite drinks with a purpose. This place is still somewhat of the "Best Hidden Secret" but the word is out and The Who's whos are trying to get in, well, as long as it doesn't interrupt my reservation or experience you can enjoy this AMAZING place too. Hahaha. I haven't taken pix but my next visit, I will and post.

Yelp
It was disgusting. Not fresh at all. One of the most nastiest sushi places I've tried. Customer service wasnt all that great either.

Yelp
What I'm measuring it against: cocktail/speakeasy-style bars in major cities. So I guess this place is at least partly owned by one of the people from Angel's Share, one of that city's top bars. There is not a strong cocktail scene yet in Atlanta (though Holman & Finch was ahead of the curve), so this place is a welcome addition. Getting in: last I checked, this is place is "reservation only", which does guarantee a decent experience for those who go. The process is by email and is explained simply enough on their website. Vibe: Just beautiful. Mostly black interior with some dim globe lights, plus some ambient electronic music or other music that suites that vibe (some Interpol and even Digable Planets?). It's two floors and a bar, but the space is small enough for a very intimate experience. I used this analogy in another review, but I'll use it here as well--Even Willie Tanner from "Alf" would seem cool in here (though in my mind, he always had an "it" factor). Food/Drink: It's mostly cocktail bar, so food is mostly tapas-style...you do not come here for a full meal. I liked my drinks for the most part, though I didn't think the one with truffle oil worked so well (It tend to get gin-based drinks that are lighter and herbal). That's largely a preference--the drinks themselves were well-made and well-presented. My pork-slider type thing was decent enough. Again, you're coming mainly for vibe and drinks...not food. Service: Really got to hand it to this place...doormen/hosts and servers all extremely accommodating. I'd expect nothing less from the city where the beloved '80s series "Matlock" was set. Summary: Very nice place, but the "reservation only" policy leaves me with mixed feelings. On one hand, it helps keep the place from getting overcrowded (which is key to maintaining the intimate vibe), but on the other hand, people often like to go to such bars on "the spur of the moment". In other words, I'm fine making reservations at a 3-star Michelin restaurant since that's something you plan for weeks in advance and look forward to, but it can be somewhat annoying to do for a cocktail bar since you don't know until the last moment if you're in the mood for it (or perhaps it's just me). Regardless, this is a welcome addition to Atlanta to fill the time between dinner and hitting up Compound or perhaps even Magic City.

Yelp
Parking is either self park in the parking deck where you pay by the hour or you can do valet for $3. I recommend doing the valet just because it's easier and the cheaper option. After parking you have to walk to himitsu. You have to make a reservation, and if you show up early or without your entire party you have to wait outside, so be aware during cold winters. You need to know the passcode in order to get in as well. The venue is pretty small and there is only one restroom so there's always a long line for it. They do have Tom Ford soap once you are inside. This place is very very pricey. Their cheapest drink on the menu is $16. For parties of 6 or more, tip is automatically added to your bill. I tried the Raichi and Kyuri cocktail. They were pretty good but it's not enough alcohol for the price to the honest. It's a very upscale place. I also had a chance to try one of their rolls but I forgot what it was. I just know that it was decent and I would probably never get it again. Overall if you like if you're into the whole high end fancy place this is the place for you. Other than that don't waste your money. It's very very dark and not well lit so you won't get any good pictures inside.

Yelp
Idk what's wrong with the customer service here but I for one, have never ever heard of it. Today I tried calling for some information & the person that answered the phone said "I believe we have this conversation once a week for months now." LMFAO ???? Are they delusional? First of all I don't even eat at " 3 1/2" Star sushi restaurants. This is just the only one that was open late. The staff is clearly underpaid if they feel they need to act like that which is a shame cause I go to Umi whenever I'm in buckhead. I'll pass

Yelp
Himitsu is the ultimate craft experience. I can't stop talking about the food. Everything we tasted was delicious, delicate but masterful. The dessert textures were just plain seductive. I'm still dreaming about the creme brûlée. Limited light menu but divine. I don't know where to start on the cocktails. The bar staff was knowledgeable and entertaining to watch. They definitely take their craft seriously. If you know a connoisseur this is where to take them. The best sake you'll ever taste. The atmosphere has that ultra exclusive feel reminding me I've been out of the city for far too long. The music and lighting only add to the intimacy they planned for your enjoyment. Sadly unless you are a professional photographer you can't possibly do the beautiful food & its presentation justice in that lighting. Overall a wonderful evening.
