"Head to Himmel Haus for après-ski action and an impressive list of German and Belgian beers. And good luck not ordering one of a giant pretzels, especially once you see one go by covered in sea salt, three-cheese fondue, and bacon-onion jam. The weekly trivia nights are lively, and the annual Oktoberfest celebration packs the indoor rooms and outdoor patio. While they have some tables for smaller groups, don’t expect much room for yourself, especially on winter weekends—it’s usually a bit easier to find space in the summer, thanks to Himmel Haus’s outdoor picnic tables and grassy lawn area. I visited fantastic German restaurant, and I can't recommend it enough! The selection of German and Belgian beers is impressive, making it a perfect spot for beer enthusiasts. The schnitzel was absolutely excellent and I also tried their gigantic pretzel, which was a delightful treat and paired perfectly with the beers. The atmosphere of the restaurant is vibrant and welcoming. I visited on Halloween, and they had a live band that added to the festive spirit. It was a lot of fun! U also enjoyed their trivia nights with friends. Overall, this restaurant is a gem, offering delicious food, a great drink selection, and an inviting ambiance. Definitely worth a visit!

The food is absolutely delicious, bit the service is slow. Make a reservation ahead of time to minimize wait time for getting seated. Parking is limited, but we parked in the Heavenly lot and walked down the hill to the restaurant. There was no charge since it was evening.

Google
Great gem near ski lift but it seems off main tourist road. Authentic German food and lots European beers. Cocktails and wine are available. Suggest sharing meals.

Google
Definitely recommend and you can even bring vegetarian friends! Delicious food (like the variety of sausages available), hearty portions, and even had vegan sausages available (in addition to spaetzel, pretzels, salads)! Didn't get to try the dessert but definitely want to go back for that. Prices are in line with other restaurants in the area (read: a little on the expensive side) but they accommodate our large party without a reservation (it was off-season, but still it was appreciated that they accommodated us without any fuss) and the food and beer were delicious. Parking lot is a little small so it might be harder during high season to get a parking spot.

Google
Great meal and beer tasting at the bar after skiing. Thanks Zak and Solomon and the folks in the kitchen. Giant schnitzel and potatoes so delicious you *almost don't need the Jaeger sauce.

Google
Food is very authentic, high quality Bavarian style German fare. Almost exactly the same menu as I'd see when in Munich or Salzburg. Seating is limited, and may be family style (one long table you share) in some cases. Feels like an old house converted to restaurant. Warning, the large pretzel is seriously bigger than my head (but it was excellent)

Chelsea Morgan

Google
Our all time favorite german restaurant! The wild game sausages are always incredible as well as the purple cabbage it comes with (one of my personal favorites), the pretzel is the best we have ever had and the onions that comes with it are truly unmatched. Perfection, everytime. Thank you again Himmel Haus for a lovely and fantastic meal once again, we cannot wait to come back soon!

Google
First time dinning here, it a great Germany restaurant. If you want something different at the strip stop by here for good German foods. They do have many varieties of sausages. Prices can be little high though. Although I find the sausages is little small, be greeat if they can increase the size of that. Overall, good foods. Free Parking can be on site or there is also a little hill area across the street you can park.

Yelp
Himmel Haus is the place to go for delicious German food in South Lake Tahoe. I've been here multiple times, and the food is consistently excellent. The atmosphere is warm, lively, and inviting--exactly what I imagine a cozy German pub would feel like. Even on a busy night, our waiter kept things fun with his jokes and friendly banter, though we did have to flag him down a couple of times. On my last visit with family, we started with the Bavarian pretzel and curried cauliflower. The pretzel was perfectly warm and doughy with just the right amount of salt, while the cauliflower was surprisingly addictive--the curry flavor was balanced and not overpowering. For mains, we ordered the pork schnitzel, pork shank, and pork roast. The combination of crispy fry, rich gravy, and tangy pickled cabbage made each dish feel complete and satisfying. Of course, we had to finish with the warm apple strudel, which wasn't too sweet and paired perfectly with the ice cream on the side. And let's not forget--their drink portions are huge, even for water and soda! German food wasn't exactly on my Tahoe must-try list, but I'm so glad I found this spot because it's now a go-to every time I visit. Can't wait to come back and try more from the menu!

Yelp
Excuse me, I ordered the large beer. Himmel House is a must-try for anyone craving authentic German food and a fun vibe in South Lake Tahoe. We started with the pretzels and beer cheese, which were a perfect appetizer. For our entrees, we had the schnitzel, spatzel and the sauerbraten, allcooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable. We'll definitely be back!

Skevos L.

Yelp
Exceptional! We ordered almost everything, dove in head first, made a big 'ol mess ;) Better than we'd hoped( and we had some high expectations!), on all fronts. Our waiter was tremendous as well! I'd wondered what the hell was going on at Himmel Haus for years, glad to finally know!

David K.

Yelp
Cool atmosphere. Solid food. Great service. Schnitzel is like katsu with gravy. Spaetzel is a wonderful doughy pasta with butter and onions. The fries were yummy. Next time will try the pretzel.

Diem P.

Yelp
Love, love, love this place for laid back atmosphere where I can enjoy beer and dinner with the best service! Came here on a Friday night and didn't have trouble getting a table. The restaurant was casual and cosy. And our server was the best!! He knew the menu and was able to make great recommendations. Mini pretzel was great and perfect for two - the bacon jam was delish! The two of us also split the sausage platter which saved room to split the must-try cheesecake!

Yelp
Came back for Thanksgiving dinner and this was another exceptional evening of great service and deliciousness. Started again with the pretzel because it's the best ever. We quickly ran out of cheese sauce so had to get another container that was $.50 and worth every penny. Normally we also get the cauliflower and Brussels but I was determined to finish my meal and passed. We ordered the Schweinshanx, Spaetzle with Cheese, Schnitzel and Kielbasa sausage for 4 adults and had plenty of food to share. I don't recall having the fries our last trip, but certainly enjoyed this time around. They were nicely twice fried and very crunchy on the exterior while the interior was creamy. There's a few items I haven't had yet so have my eyes set on them for the next visit.

Yelp
Started out with the warm spinach salad and was surprised just how much I liked it... topped with sautéed meats and mushrooms in a mustard dressing. Chose the pork shank for dinner, served with mashed potato and sauerkraut. Everything was good, but I would have preferred the sauerkraut and potatoes were separated, it was a texture thing for me. Finished with the Black Forest cake. I was disappointed with the cake and whipped cream frosting as it was very dry, but the cherries were phenomenal! I'd get just the cherries on ice cream I next time! Ambiance is rustic chalet, service was a bit spotty, and prices were in line with expectation.

Yelp
Great restaurant to go while you are in South Lake Tahoe. Been going here every time we are in town. Still have great service, beer and food.

Chris P.

Yelp
One of our "go-to" places in South Lake Tahoe. Between the view of Heavenly and the food, it can't be beat. The service has always been good even when it's busy. The decor is like a German ski chalet which goes well with the food. The beer selection is is big. Our favorite dish is the currywurst with a side of spaetzle. My wife loves the giant pretzel with carmelized onions, cheese and a variety of mustards. We will always come back at least once per Tahoe trip.

Samantha G.

Yelp
Wonderful place in South Lake Tahoe. It is right across the street from heavenly ski resort. Make sure you make a reservation. We loved the ambiance and the food portions were huge. We got the schnitzel and kase spaetzle. We also got the apple strudel for dessert- it was delicious and make sure you get it with ice cream.

Christina J.

Yelp
Avoid at all costs if you care about service. The second we sat down our server was asking about food, like can we order drinks first? When we asked for recommendations he left and said I'll be back. No recs provided. Then he was shoving dessert down our throat the second our meals came out, and once we declined because we felt overwhelmed to finish our drinks and food, he brought the check. I kid you not, this dude came back every 30 seconds looking for his tip all the while we hadn't finished our food or drinks, and honestly, I wanted a new drink but there was never a, "can I get you anything else?" The food was fine; the kids grilled cheese was the highlight. We didn't try any sausages but those did look ok, too. The beef shoulder was ok, just a little fatty. The place was cozy and we were really hopeful upon entering and being seated right away. There's just so many other better places to try in the area.

Yelp
Himmel Haus is a nice German pub that serves German cuisine and has a great selection of beer and ale. It's a spacious place with outside seating and inside seating. A great for groups. Outside they have same games like corn hole toss, etc. They are so close to Heavenly Ski Resort, that it's no wonder people like to stop in after a hard day of skiing and afterwards come in to get some food and/or drinks. Steve took great care of us. He was patient, friendly and attentive. We came close to closing time, but he never once rushed us. He gave us a few suggestions. We ordered the... Brussel Sprouts: halved and sautéed in butter with salt and pepper with lemon (4/5). They had a slight char and you could taste the rich butter. Simple but good. Sausage Platter: A selection of four sausages, served with Mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, rotkohl, and haus made pickles. *Bratwurst - seasoned pork. Tasty and traditional. *Bockwurst - veal and garlic. My wife's favorite. *Kielbasa - spiced beef and pork seasoned with garlic. Full of flavor with a slight kick. *Assorted game sausage. Today's options were lamb merguez or venison and blueberry. We went with the venison and blueberry. I am glad we tried it. It was smaller than the other sausages. Not a moist as the other sausages because it was leaner. The blueberry was faint. A great local business. Come check them out!

Yelp
This review is a bit overdue--my partner and I visited Himmel Haus in late November right before Thanksgiving but our experience was so lovely I still wanted to document it! This was our first time in Lake Tahoe and Himmel House consistently popped up in recommendations, so we decided to try it. We got a table on a Saturday night around 9 pm (an hour before closing; something we don't like to make a habit of, but needed to on that day). We were one of only a couple other folks in the room, two separate parties at the bar and one table just finishing up. The atmosphere was cozy, the service friendly, and the food outstanding. We shared the warm spinach salad, the sausage platter (we picked bratwurst, bockwurst, and their special game sausages: elk/cheddar/jalapeño, and rabbit), sauerbraten, and two German fruit teas (cinnamon bun and raspberry vanilla). The spinach salad was incredible and came with mushrooms, onions, a pickled egg (so yummy) and a perfectly sour bacon-mustard vinaigrette. I'm a fiend for anything vinegary and mouth-puckering, and this salad was the perfect balance of fresh, zingy, and satisfying. The sausage platter was delicious, especially the two game sausages that our server recommended. The sauerbraten was hearty and warm, perfect for a snowy night. We LOVED the fruit teas as well--so much that I ended up buying them from a German store online. The portions were huge; we took home most of the entrees and had a whole second meal from them. I was a little under the weather so my appetite was not as large as usual, plus we were rushing a bit to leave before their 10pm closing time, but even if the stars were aligned it would've been wayyyy more food than we could've eaten in one meal. This was our favorite meal in Tahoe. The ONLY thing I would warn somebody about: if you go big on the sauerkraut/rotkohl, you may pay for it later with some of the most offensive wind-breaking of your life. You've been warned.

Yelp
I came on a Saturday after skiing around 3 and it was packed with others who just finished as well! It was so busy and we got great service and quickly served. I thought everything was very good and the options were also very good. The one thing I will say is that I thought it was pretty pricey. They make up for that in their very large portions so it somewhat works out but be ready to eat if you are going to go! The pretzel with the sauces are a must try for sure!

Thanh T.

Yelp
Came right at opening and got seated right away, but it really filled up bu the time we were done! Ordered a little bit of everything and loved everything we tried! We definitely over ordered so good to keep in mind some of the items come in half/smaller sizes! But it seems you can't really go wrong no matter what you're ordering here! The service was very friendly and nice! Parking fills up quickly after opening! Will definitely make it back out here next time I'm in tahoe!

Amanda M.

Yelp
So pleasantly surprised at how many gluten free options Himmel Haus has! The menu is labeled and the sausage platter was so yummy. Only one of the sausages wasn't gluten free and the ones that were gf were delicious. Also, the gluten free beer was quite good! The indoor atmosphere is so cute with the brick walls and big tables. Great for big groups. The staff are friendly and have recommendations if you need them! Definitely going back to Himmel Haus the next time I'm in Tahoe.

Cheryl L.

Yelp
I am im-pretzel with the food coming out of Himmel Haus. Everything was delicious and I was surprised how much I like and appreciate German food. Definitely try to make a yelp reservation or else you might be waiting awhile. We had: Pretzel- 5/5 - best pretzel I've ever had Cauliflower- 5/5 - the curry béchamel is delicious Brussel Sprouts- 4/5 - simply made but made well Chicken Schnitzel - 5/5 - big piece of schnitzel and great sides to go with it Peaches and cream strudel- 5/5- must eat with ice cream Our server, Eva, was excellent and friendly. The parking is tough over there as there are limited spaces. Bathroom could have been lit up more because it was super dark in there. A stand out meal and I would definitely come back again!

Melanie M.

Yelp
Love this place! We have a timeshare walking distance so we eat here a lot in the winter. Great food, great service! They just got a liquor license so that's exciting! Love a good cocktail, 4 stars because I ordered a Negroni and it was terrible, had no Campari, was the wrong color and tasted nothing like a Negroni. When they work out the kinks for the cocktails and get their bartenders up to speed it will be a 5 star review!

Lisa G.

Yelp
Went here for a small dinner..hub ordered a n/a German beer and like it, I ordered a dark Dopplebock German beer on tap and it was great. We ordered the large pretzel..and it is LARGE.. next time we will get the small one..it tasted great, but we got so full, because we also ordered the curry sausage appetizer that was also quite big.....big food alert here...many people were getting to go containers. The bartender was great..did not miss a beat..the food was great! Will be back... many times over..except now will order the small pretzel..ha ha

Meredith C.

Yelp
Good news--Himmelhaus now offers a full bar for my fellow cocktail enthusiasts!! And that is not the only upgrade this restaurant has made. The menu now includes dishes that are vegan or can be made vegan and it is clearly labeled on such. Thank you Himmelhaus!!

Kelly S.

Yelp
Yum! German Food Okay first off, shoutout to ORIA & BRANDA for being so awesome!! It's our first time here and definitely not our last time. Service was phenomenal, food came out quick, and it's so yummy! We ordered: 1. Spatzel: giving Mac n cheese but better!! And the sausage was so flavorful (also with a little spicy kick) 5/5 stars 2. Pretzel: ginormous soft pretzel with sides!! Literally the biggest pretzel I've had 5/5 stars 3. Veel Schitnzel: baby cow meat. This dish was everything I needed. Something crunchy and something soft. It reminds me of fish and chips but just either Veel. 5/5 stars 4. Pina Colada: best Pina Colada I've tried. The sandwich coconut flavor was just chefs kiss haha. 5/5 stars 5. Watermelon Cocktail: so refreshing!! This was part of their special cocktail menu and it was so refreshing! 5/5 stars Pros: + large portions + lots of parking by restaurant + ambiance of the seating inside & outside are great (you can choose your vibe) + lots of outdoor games outside to play with as well! Thanks again for such a great experience Oria & Branda!! We'll be back soon ;)

Cassidy M.

Yelp
WOW! My husband found this spot while we were in Tahoe for the weekend and if you haven't heard of it, DO NOT SLEEP! This is the best German food we've ever eaten in NV/CA! It feels as though you're in someone's home eating around family, the ambiance is so cozy and homey. Our server was wonderful and the food was mouth watering! We shared a mini pretzel, kase spatzle with bratwurst, the beef shoulder and ended with an apple strudel! Take your friends and family as their portions are HUGE!

Tasha S.

Yelp
This place, despite its size, does fill up quite quickly as it's a favorite for locals and tourists. The food is always great - if they have the rabbit sausage on their 'special' game sausages list, highly recommend! They don't always offer the kids' menu but there is one available. Service is always polite and friendly but naturally, if the place is full, it'll be on the slower side. I highly recommend calling before making your way there if you chance it without reservations, because you may not end up getting a table if they're at capacity. Atmosphere is always lively and fun, portions are huge!

Monte W.

Yelp
Appears to have been shut down by the health department. We went there Tuesday and there was a sign on the door. We saw we workers in there but they are definitely not open

Ting L.

Yelp
My visit to Himmel Haus was an incredible dive into authentic German cuisine and a fantastic beer selection! The cozy alpine ambiance added to the overall great experience, with friendly staff and a warm atmosphere. We ordered a liter of Doppelbock and a liter of Märzen, both served in classic boot-shaped glasses. The beers were fresh and flavorful, perfectly complementing our meal. The Bavarian pretzel was huge and delicious, served with a delightful mustard and beer cheese dip. The veal schnitzel was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, topped with a savory gravy that was simply mouthwatering. The Schweinshaxe (pork shank) was the highlight--tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection, served with a hearty side of mashed potatoes and red cabbage. The prices were reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, making it a great value for the experience. Parking was also convenient, which added to the overall positive experience. If you're in the mood for a taste of Germany in Lake Tahoe, Himmel Haus is the place to be. Highly recommend!

Leon L.

Yelp
One of my first times going to a German restaurant and it did not disappoint. Hungry after a long ski day, we decided to dine here for dinner. The parking lot has limited spaces: should be redesigned it so it can accommodate more cars. We had to wait until a customer left so we could get a spot. No other close parking nearby. The atmosphere makes me feel like I'm in Germany, even though I have never been. We had a variety of different foods. We started off with Roasted Cauliflower in curry. Delicious. We ordered many meats - (4 sausage platter, chicken schnitzel, sauerbraten, and schweinshaxe). Just really good comfort food, juicy and tender meats. All dishes came with lots of mashed potatoes. We were super full after this meal; we could not handle the dessert menu. For drinks, we opted for a liter of Weihenstephaner Korbinian, a dark beer. It's very smooth and was a tasty drinking experience.

Monica H.

Yelp
Celebrated my birthday with German comfort food. Staff was very friendly. Great beer selection. Pretzel was delicious if not like those in Germany. Also huge. Portions were large. The sausage platter is definitely enough for 2 people. With all that Brot & Wurst we figured we'd better get some vegetables so got the beet salad. It was very nice - really an arugula salad with beets, but plenty of them. My mom was born & raised in Germany. Nothing ever measures up to her cooking or my Oma's, but this was good.

Lee G.

Yelp
Delicious German Comfort Food at Himmel Haus Himmel Haus is the perfect spot for authentic German cuisine in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The highlight of my meal was the German pasta (Käsespätzle)--rich, cheesy, and wonderfully satisfying. The tender spätzle paired with the creamy cheese sauce was the ultimate comfort food, and every bite was perfection. The staff was friendly and attentive, creating an inviting experience that made the evening even more enjoyable. With great food, excellent service, and a fantastic selection of German beers, Himmel Haus is a must-visit for anyone craving hearty, authentic German dishes. I'll definitely be back!

Sarka M.

Yelp
We had a very disappointing experience during our visit. Although we were fine with waiting about 45 minutes to be seated since we didn't have a reservation, things went downhill from there. We kindly asked the host if we could get a pretzel for our hungry 5-year-old while we waited, but he ignored our request completely. The overall atmosphere was unprofessional for a German-style restaurant. We waited a long time for our appetizers--only one came, and the second one didn't arrive until dinner was served, which took much longer than expected. We had to raise concerns about the delay, as well as the lack of toilet paper and paper towels in the unclean bathroom. The seating cushions (as pictured) were unsanitary, and unacceptable. As for the food, it was just average and not an authentic German taste, definitely not worth the price. My German husband was particularly disappointed, saying, "To call this German is a disgrace." We will not be returning or recommending this restaurant. We would love to speak with the owner directly to discuss our experience.

J M.

Yelp
Extremely average food. Nice atmosphere. But nothing was particularly impressive. Haus salad dressing left much to be desired. Spatzle was alright. Didn't finish the pretzel, sauces were really bland. Cauliflower was flavorless, sauce needs work. Braised meat was tender and decent. I didn't like the sauerkraut and I normally love sauerkraut. Desserts were bland. Don't bother with the bread pudding. Apple streusel was alright but no desire to finish it either. Schnitzel was alright. It doesn't compare to German food in Germany and not to the better options in South Lake Tahoe either.

Alana C.

Yelp
I had been on the hunt for a new German spot to go for my birthday (it's been my personal tradition for a long time now) since my old favorite spot Bavarian World shut down (RIP). I had tried a couple other places in town (Reno) and was not impressed, so I did some online research to find the best German spot nearby and I discovered Himmel Haus. After looking at some reviews and menu pictures it looked promising, so we gave it a try. And I must say everything about my experience was perfect! German ambiance/atmosphere? Check. Waiters wearing lederhosen? Check. Authentic music playing? Check. Cozy aesthetic and decor? Check. Delicious German food? Check. Attentive and friendly service? Check. Beautiful Tahoe scenery out the windows? Bonus Check! The food was actually better than all the other places I'd been (including Bavarian World! And I loved that place). We ordered several things to share (Käse Spätzle, Sausage Platter, Soft Pretzel, Sauerbraten). All was delicious with great flavors and textures. I have zero complaints and I would order it all again. Best soft pretzel I've ever had. And I've been thinking about the Käse Spätzle ever since. On top of that, we ordered coffees and our wonderful waiter, Dave, made sure to make a fresh pot for us! He even comped us an apple strudel when I mentioned it was my birthday! Sweet man. Himmel Haus is such an apt name for this heavenly place and with that angel of a server to boot! I can't recommend this place enough! I'm so glad to have found a new birthday spot to carry on my tradition. And I look forward to coming back again throughout the year!

Yelp
We had reservations for 7:45pm on a Saturday while we were visiting South Lake Tahoe. We arrived a little early and were seated promptly. The place was packed. We were seated at the end of one of the long tables (Der Stammtisch). My boyfriend ordered the sausage platter and chose Bratwurst, Bockwurst, and the 2 specials for the night, Lamb and Boar. I tasted them and they were all very good. He said the sauerkraut was amazing! I ordered the Pork Schnitzel was also good. We ordered the Apfelstrudel and added ice cream to it for our dessert Customer service was adequate. Ambiance - typical German restaurant vibe. Highly suggest making reservations The night we came, there was a sign outside saying that only reservations for that night. Parking can be challenging when they are busy. May return here the next time we visit South Lake Tahoe.

Yelp
Located up, off Pioneer Trail, on Saddle Rd, in Heavenly, surrounded by mountains and trees, is the ONE AND ONLY Himmel Haus! I've been coming up to Tahoe since '89. This is the BEST Restaurant in Tahoe and one of the Best I've ever gone to. The food is completely Elevated, German, Bar food and I guarantee is the best you've ever had in California. The service is always great. I believe our waiter was Steve, it was his first day and he did an awesome job, keep it up. They have seating outside with games, like corn hole. Inside is a large restaurant. One side is all dinning and the other is the bar with dinning. We always sit in the bar. Laid back mountain vibes. We ordered the Bavarian Pretzel. The pretzel is unlike any you get outside of Germany. Huge, soft, almost caramelized outside, salt, goodness. Then you have the three mustard option, Haus made mustard fondue, and bacon-onion jam. The mustards are not your French's, instead real mustard, bring more depth, sour, vinegar, spicy, semisweet. The Fondue is always fought over. The mustardy, cheesy, creamy, silk, thimble of love needs to be put in a vat! We ordered our daughter the KÄSE SPÄTZLE. Imagine having thin gnocchi and then making a beautiful homemade creamy aged cheese that encompasses the whole thing.....then you have this! Addicting! I ordered the CHICKEN SCHNITZEL WITH ROTKOHL AND MASHED POTATOES. SMOTHERED IN JÄGER SAUCE! The Chicken schnitzel is breaded beautifully with almost the same texture of panko and fried. Squeeze the lemon on top and you have that golden, crunchy, lemony, white meat chicken. Then smother it with the Mushroom Jager Sauce! Adding a beautiful gravy with pepper, meaty, earthy depth of flavors. The Potatoes are always mashed to perfection and add that hardy, starch. The sour cabbage cuts right through it all. Perfect dish! The Peach Strudel was awesome. The only dessert we haven't had there. The peaches were so sweet and cooked down. The pastry was buttery and baked to perfection. The Carmel delivered that sugar sweet smokiness. We added ice cream and of course, gave that warm peach pie and cold ice cream combo. It wasn't too sweet and that's what I loved! *It doesn't get any better than this and I tell everyone we know about Himmel Haus. This is beyond the 5 star ranking*

Yelp
I have finally found a bar that I can call home. oh, how I wish I could've been here prepandemic and partake in Oktoberfest stuff and trivia nights. I wish I could go into more detail, but I don't think I have the vocabulary to talk about how good their sausages(and selection) are. Or how nicely fried their schnitzel was. I guess if I were to go into more detail, I could say that the kase spatzle is really good. I've had other spaztles, and it's usually bland. It has a good amount of cheesiness, good enough to give it flavor, but not too strong to overpower the dish it's a side to. I also do enjoy their pretzel, and it is HUGE. Baked to perfection. You have a couple of mustards to pair it with, which are their staples, but it comes with fondue and bacon onion jam. Yum. Great food. Great beer selection. Amazing staff.

Cassy S.

Yelp
This is hands down the best place in Tahoe. Love everything they have. The service is always great!

Garrett S.

Yelp
We live in Meyers. It has been less than sub par each time. We know it's Tahoe and relaxed and we probably look like a tourist but not even close to having steps of service or even getting checked on (not even once). I'd rather go back to heavenly and spend 15 dollars on a beer.

Victor L.

Yelp
This is not a knock as I will come back to try other dishes. I ordered the pork roast for takeout. With tip and everything it was around $35. My meal tasted like a little better than an IKEA meal. The roast is adequate but not great. You need the gravy and luckily I added the various mustard options from the bar into my takeout. I felt it would've been kinda bland without it. The food is plenty, but I also paid plenty. I mean $35 for a takeout meal is a little steep. I only had to wait about 10 minutes for my order on a Sunday evening. If I had more time, the bar is welcoming but who knows when I'll be back.

Amazing ambiance and decorations. We came around 4pm on a weekday and the place already had a few tables. By the time we left, the place was bustling. Bratwurst platter - amazing sausages, paired nicely with pickled cabbage, would recommend Pretzel - soft and buttery, lightly salted, caramelized onions is such a good combo, absolutely would recommend Pilsner - refreshing, fruity, sweet Märzen - slightly dryer mouth feel, goes well with the heavy food

Yelp
Definitely new favorite restaurant in Tahoe. Everything we ordered was incredible. The pretzel, the sausages, the schnitzel, and the beer were all truly exceptional. The service was also excellent, with very friendly and efficient staff. I had a feeling the place would be good, but my expectations were blown here - very strongly recommended!

Yelp
Loved this German spot right across from Heavenly! Went on a summer Friday for dinner - there's a cute lawn area outside with games too. Service was great- husband had a few pilsners and we shared the fries to start. Ketchup had this interesting curry flavor and there were 3 types of mustard on the table! I had the bone in pork shank which was SO tender, falling off the bone which is how I like it. Mashed potatoes were creamy and cabbage was tangy. Dessert was the apple strudel: beautifully presented and so flaky! Will be coming back!

Yelp
This was a very cozy spot in South Lake Tahoe right next to Heavenly, with great food! However, we had a rather poor experience with the hostess. We came in on a Wednesday evening with a reservation and we (a party of 3) were seated at the end of a giant 18 person table directly next to the entrance even though there were many smaller individual tables available. When we asked to be moved to one of those, the hostess was incredibly rude and unprofessional, but she finally moved us. Our waiter was incredible and completely made up for the hostess's attitude. The food was very traditional Bavarian fare, I definitely recommend splitting the sausage platter and schnitzel as they were both incredibly generous portions. They also have a good selection of German beers on draft, which we enjoyed. This is a good spot to stop at after a long day of skiing, but I would hope that there would be kinder service from the hostess the next time around.

Yelp
We came on a Friday night during Christmas weekend without reservation. The wait time was 45 mins. They had a stone fireplace and some seating spots as waiting area. We decided to wait there vs going else where. Our seat was in a corner nearby the bar area (right beneath an empty DJ spot). Next to our table is a foosball table and my boys thoroughly enjoyed playing it while waiting for our food to arrive. The Brussel Sprout is REALLY GOOD The pretzel is good as well, as expected from a German restaurant/beer garden. The special beef stew is also great. I cannot say the same for the other items we ordered though. The knuckle was tender but too salty for us. The full size spatzle is LARGE and a little bit under seasoned. Sausage is sausage Beer is

Yelp
We visited here on our recent trip to Tahoe because of the great reviews and location. Our family has a house only down the road so it was a quick walk away. The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered a variety of items, Bavarian pretzel, fries, Brussels sprouts and several dishes. The pretzel is the BEST soft pretzel I have ever had hands down, it was amazing. Warm and soft and not rubbery like big pretzels sometimes can be. It was delicious! Every food item we all got was super tasty. My only reason for the reduced rating is because everything took soooo long to come out. Which I typically wouldn't mind, but I think just informing people would be helpful so they are aware. It took an hour just for everyone's meals to come out. But even considering that, I would still go back because the food, beer and pretzel was that good. I mean pretzel alone will cause me to return.

Yelp
We can't say enough good things about Himmel Haus. It's our top pick for dining in Tahoe. The schnitzel is legendary, and the spaetzle is simply divine. We've also enjoyed their seasonal beers and the warm apple strudel for dessert. The service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. We highly recommend making a reservation, as this gem tends to fill up quickly.

Yelp
I've been to South Lake Tahoe 4-5 times already but today is my first time to Himmel Haus. All the dishes that I picked are wonderful: the Bavarian Pretzel is huge even for two people, Schweinshaxe is the star of the meal and I would order it again next time. I saw some reviews concerning about parking. But because I went early (1pm), there is no issue with parking. However there are not many parking spaces (less than 10), I guess this place would be packed during dinner time

Yelp
We made reservations and were greeted on entry. There was a bunch of things stored right at the entrance of the restaurant that gave a cluttered feel. Daniel was our server and he was attentive. We ordered the petite pretzel, sauerbraten abs beet salad. Everything was good, just not excellent. No real complaints. I've just had better! We probably won't come back.

Yelp
My wife, daughter and I, came for the week and I've been looking forward to eating here based on previous reviews on Yelp. You can't go wrong coming here and it has a very Alps/Europe vibe to it and the beer and food is very authentic! What I wasn't expecting was a vegan sausage plate option and that was great because we're vegetarians. Our server was very attentive and nice. Overall a great experience and next time we're in Tahoe I'd like to repeat!

Yelp
We had the best time at Himmel House! The ratings don't lie! Our server Lindsey (five stars) was super helpful and friendly and made great recommendations. Food came out quickly! We got: Pretzel Spätzle & Käse Spätzle Cauliflower Brussel sprouts with bacon Veal Schnitzel Sausage platter Everything was so good! I would get more spätzle next time. All beers here are delicious and they have a great selection of draft beers. Heifenweisen and Delirium were great. 12/10 recommend this spot! We'll be back!

Yelp
Amazing food, service and atmosphere! But most time during weekend you must have a reservation. Keep that in mind.
