Great place to visit and learn about Hindu deities. Beautiful arquitecture, plenty of parking. You can't take pictures inside the temple and women should not wear shorts or tank tops.

The design and interiors closely resemble traditional South Indian temples, featuring ornate carvings of deities.Divine and serene environment for worship and contemplation. The hindu community Known for its vibrant community events and authentic South Indian cuisine in the basement canteen. They have big kalyanamandapam right infront of shivaya temple. Overall a great divine experience felt almost the same in India.

Was a pleasant experience on a Sunday. Had two temples in one place - Venkateshwara Swamy & Shiva temples. Both are good. Shiva temple interior gives a more traditional feel which you see in India. Big Nandi statue in front of Shiva temple. As of Sep 2025, renovation is being done in the shed/stage near Shiva temple possibly for another enclosure or modernizing existing place.

It’s always a pleasure to visit this temple, where you can receive blessings from both Lord Venkatachalapathy and Lord Namashiva. 🙏🏾” I love the serenity of this temple. The priests are excellent — I could sit and listen to their Archana stotram forever. Such a beautiful and soothing rendition.”

Attended a wedding here. Kudos to the architecture - happy to see a South Indian style towers after a long time. Has very good facilities for ceremonies.

Very good, peaceful and must visit temple in Atlanta. Both Lord Venkateswara and Lord shiva were present in this temple premises. Good parking facility available. Also there is a canteen with different food options.

It was quite busy for a non-festival day to have overflowing of people. The parking lot was almost full on the top side and only few spots left in the downhill parking area. The cafeteria area was also swamped with people. From our couple of hours of stay at the cafeteria area, we never noticed the food line to decrease at all. Plus, we noticed a lot of foreigners who might've been attracted for low cost food choices.

Visited the Hindu Temple of Atlanta on Black Friday around 3 PM, and it was pleasantly quiet with only a few families around. We were able to have a close and peaceful darshan of Balaji, which made the visit really special. The temple is currently undergoing some construction, but it didn’t affect the experience much. We also tried the food in the cafeteria, and it was outstanding — especially the Pongal, which was delicious. Overall, a calm, blessed, and satisfying visit.

Yelp
This is the oldest temple in Atlanta, been visiting for over a decade now.they organize very neat events per Hindu calendar. They have all main Hindu deities. Very quaint Venkateswara temple there is also shiva temple. They have pipal and vata vriksh. They also have monthly Poojas. The architecture of the temple is gorgeous. I highly recommend visiting this temple for some peace, blessing and prasad. It is definitely a cornerstone of Hindu community in Atlanta.

Yelp
We will experience the divine energy as soon we enter the temple shrine. Priest gives explanation of every little thing that we should know. Great place to enrich our culture and devotion.

Yelp
Beautiful temple, I have been coming here since I was a little kid and the architecture is always stunning to see! They are only open 12-8pm now and they say that you have to sign up online for an appointment to visit. However, we weren't asked any information about our appointment when we came in, they just asked us to sign waiver forms for COVID. It seems like they are taking appropriate COVID precautions.

Yelp
As long as I lived in Georgia, never have I ever visited the Hindu Temple of Atlanta. I would see the pillars from afar. I mean, seriously, I should've came sooner to visit. It is South Indian base, Telugu, I believe. I love Telugu movies! I've noticed the architecture of South Indian temples are similar. I came with friends to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi. I love Ganesh due to me watching so many Hindi movies featuring him but one that came to mind is My Friend Ganesha, which is a super cute movie. Because of that movie, I do have a small Ganesh at home. Looking at festivals, I came across Ganesh Chaturthi so couldn't wait to go. I wanted to make Ganesh molds and celebrate him! Everyone there is nice and welcoming to me. I loved it. I was happy to get a darshan done too. I loved the blessings and got a fruit and sweet milk. No lie, I felt like I was in the movies. I only wish I was able to take photos but respectfully saw the sign that has no photos or videos. But I did take some photos outside. Beautiful! I've been told I was Indian in my previous life. 211/2019

Yelp
This is one of the oldest Temples in USA. Very beautiful temple. Nice and divine atmosphere. Well maintained. Must see places in Atlanta, GA. Balaji and Shiva temple of Atlanta. Shiv and Balaji (Vishnu) temple located side by side in the same premises. The temple architecture is similar to the Indian architecture. They offer to perform all pooja's and offer services for gruhapravesha's and satyanarayan swamy pooja at home. The Staff, Pujaris and the reverberating chantings spread the sanctuous and pious feelings for everyone. Food court offers authentic Indian food. They have ample free parking.

Yelp
Amazing and Beautiful Temple. I cannot say more. God knows...God should write i guess:))))) This was the first temple I landed in United States it was during May 16 1996.... They took me on the same time to Kumbhabhishekam and doing volunteer work- amazing I was there during the Kumbabhishekam and again during 2001 Brahamotsavam where i took Swami Nithyananda Giri every day - it was so great Now on April 25th was on the way to Orlando, florida from Ohio (piqua, ohio) and i did go to temple on April 26 2015 -and had a great darshan. How amazing has grown. I had a great lunch also i purchased for it. The temple has grown so much -it is amazing and so beautiful. Now they have for Lord Vishnu separate and Lord Shiva separate. I cannot say more words... It has grown so huge and big. People love it. I do have pictures posted in FB. Thanks again Sri

Yelp
The biggest and oldest hindu temple in Atlanta. Quiet place to worship and meditate even on weekends (unless theres a hindu holiday in which case it gets busy). The priests and volunteers are very nice and friendly. Welcoming of all Hindus and non-hindus. There are plenty of puja services offered for any occasion. They will even drive to your house or other location for an extra fee. All the priests speak some English and do a good job of explaining the pujas. They also offer free yoga on the weekends with Dr. Char. Don't forget to stop by the kitchen and get some of the most authentic south Indian staples in Atlanta.

Yelp
My Indian/Hindu fiancé and I were so very disappointed in this temple. We wanted a simple Tamil ceremony to be held at my parents's home so we called to get information. Someone called us and gave us personal numbers to two Tamil-speaking priests which we subsequently called. The one that called us back first spent at least half an hour on the phone with us and we went through the list of supplies he would bring and what we needed to provide along with a donation amount of $300 to the temple and a suggestion of $200 to him. We were fine with this, but wanted to meet him in person prior to the day especially since this was all new to me. When we went to the temple only 3 days later, after we were pulled away from prayers to move a platform for them(!), that same priest completely changed his story! Turns out he couldn't drive, the charge for a wedding outside the temple was DOUBLE, he couldn't speak English, and he didn't want to marry us on the day we agreed on previously. All of these were things he told us he could do on the phone. On top of all this, another priest tried to help us and then proceeded to yell at the secretary guy up front who threw his notebooks on the desk and stomped around in a child-like tantrum! Realizing the temple functions with a very different cultural background, however this temple is serving a major American metropolitan area. This type of service will never gain them business. We left saying, "What a waste! We didn't even get to pray properly!"

Yelp
Obviously it will be religious if I write about the temple and rituals which I don't wanna mention here.. All are welcome here I believe and if you are looking for specific South Indian dishes.. This is the place in whole town.. Even some of the big restaurants wont able to match the taste here.. Amazing food as all items are homemade and cooked by volunteers..its totally yummy and worth it if you love South Indian dishes..I would say the atmosphere is Blissful.. Definitely should try the temple food once.. Totally worth it !!!

Yelp
This is the temple T and I frequent. It's beautiful, peaceful, and the staff there are very welcoming. One of our favorite things about this temple? The temple kitchen. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
I was traveling through and decided to stop by. Beautiful place, extremely friendly staff. Amazing to see so much culture here. Thank you!

Yelp
The "not recommended" review is quite complimentary about the yoga offered at the temple. I don't know what Yelp! Was thinking when it said this review wasn't "recommended." Did an algorithm not fit the review?

Dreder C.

Yelp
The temple is the best and only hindu temple in and around Atlanta which follows the agama tradition and Pooja methods to perfection. The priests are very devoted and work beyond their work schedule. The committee that manages the temple is the best and their devotion and commitment to the temple are beyond comparison. Some people have written about the food served in the temple as an attraction to visit the temple. How stupid they can be. People like those should not go to temples at all.

Yelp
First of all, I am not Hindu and do not speak Sanskrit so alot of what goes on in this temple is beyond my realm of practical understanding, but one thing I do condone here at the Hindu Temple Of Atlanta is the frees yoga every Sunday morning at 11AM. I attended the hatha yoga for about two years straight and fell off the wagon with the changing of jobs and residences, but I cannot think of a better place to go on Sunday morning if you want to truly enrich the mind and body. Not only do you get the privilege of sitting at the feet of a true and living guru (Dr.Char) who has been conducting these same classes at the temple for over 20years but it is also a privilege to absorb some Hindu culture while you are there, with its kitchen serving authentic Indian cuisine and on site bookstore. And best of all it is absolutely free of charge, if no better reason to give this place high ranking it is this very inexpensive fact alone. With all these novices around Atlanta claiming to be yogi's, you can truly have a chance to practice with people that do not just honor yoga as some modern health craze, but whom actually use these techniques to fine tune the body and prepare it for a state of supreme consciousness. I highly recommend anyone even slightly curious about yoga to go to the Hindu temple of Atlanta in Riverdale and get involved. It won't cost you a thing. Enjoy
