This is quite possibly the best backyard of all time when it comes to a coffee shop. I’ve been coming here to do yoga upstairs and I’ve been so impressed with the coffee shop itself. They’re always busy. They have very interesting drinks and it’s a great spot to meet up with friends or just relax and take in a weekend. Their seasonal drinks are my favorites, but you won’t be steered wrong. There may be a wait since the drink is made fresh by hand. But it’s definitely worth it. Enjoy a cozy morning here.

I came in on a Saturday morning. They had a great 2 piece band playing some jazz music. I got the Gladiator latte, which was great. They have lots of outdoor seating, and a smaller interior. I will be back again!

As a coffee enthusiast, this is one of my favorite coffee shops I’ve visited! I tried both the Costa Rican and Kenyan beans and enjoyed a smooth and balanced cup. Really loved the Costa Rican one, which surprised me as someone who doesn’t usually like light roasts. The vibes here are top tier. From the cozy yet colorful and thoughtfully curated space, this is the perfect spot to hang out for a few hours. Lovely art work, friendly staff, and great coffee. Love the outdoor space as well. This place is truly a gem and I can’t wait to come back!

A beautiful little hidden Germantown gem! The shop entrance isn't visible from the street; you walk down a sidewalk and see a picturesque courtyard, and you enter the shop from the back entrance. The courtyard is secluded and peaceful, it's a great place to sit and sip on your drink while reading a book. The drinks are well-crafted and thoughtfully prepared, but that can mean waiting a bit for your drink if they're busy. They're worth the wait--they manually zest the oranges for their drinks, and their attention to detail is apparent in the final product. I've really enjoyed their orange mocha, honey orange cappuccino, and Americano. Their food selection is a bit limited, but they often have food vendors set up in the courtyard. All told, it's a beautiful local coffee with a quality drink menu and friendly service, well worth a visit!

Beautiful place inside and outside. People were so nice and helpful. Menu is fantastic and delicious drinks. Even a cute cat outside to boot! Vibe is 10/10 felt so at peace sitting in there

Great drinks with some food options like scones, etc. The shop itself is downright adorable (entrance is around the back. Just follow the cool artsy "open" sign on the left side of the building). Inside is clean and comfy. They have a beautiful little patio/garden spot. The staff are always friendly. We've been here a few times and the drinks have been consistently good. More people should know about this place, so I'm doing my part with this review :)

Omg this place is amazing! This is such a hidden gem, so much so it’s like a Speakeasy, I’m so glad I found it! The outdoor patio is gorgeous and the coffee is delicious.

Ahh-dorbs. Gorgeous outdoor patio, which unfortunately couldn't be fully enjoyed due to the insane heat; but, it sure was lovely to look at it from the inside tables. It's very chill inside, a good amount of seating, and interesting coffee drinks like, The Gladiator, which is a brown sugar oat milk cinnamon bourbon-barrel syrup cold brew latte (say that 3 times fast). I got a standard cortado this time since I typically order that the first time I visit a place to determine their coffee-worthiness, and Hinterhof did not disappoint. It will be fun to come back and try one of the fancier concoctions. The barista was friendly & cranked out the drink quickly. They do have some food on the menu, but I didn't get an opportunity to experience any of that this time, though I'm a sucker for quiche so I'll be dreaming of that in the meantime. My only complaint is that the prices on the wall menu are outdated -- it lists the cortado as $3.50 but the price was rung up as $4.

This was a perfect spot to visit over the weekend! I've been wanting to take my oldest son there because it's close to UL and has an amazing backyard patio. I opted for the iced lavender vanilla latte. Perfectly balanced syrup and their espresso is delicious, making it the perfect first sip. Their vegan blueberry scone was another amazing addition. It was heated and so soft. Great size too. Lots of other interesting drink and food items on their menu, although it'll be tough to not reorder the items I had today. Service was friendly and they walked my items out to the patio. Indoor seating is available too. Street parking near the shop since it's in the neighborhood. Look for the coffee sign and follow the alley to the entrance.

A lovely, warm vibe, with a very "where the locals go" crowd. My cortado with pistachio was beautiful, tasty, and a nice balance of rich espresso notes with a hint of nutty sweetness from the pistachio syrup. My friend ordered a coffee cake, which they were still baking. It did take quite a while, but it was so delicious when he finally got it. They are dog-friendly and have a lovely back patio. My friend got a miel style cortado and loved her drink, as well!

I love this neighborhood coffee shop. The owners and employees are very friendly and personable. The coffee is always great and the scones are a must-try!

Love love LOVE this little hidden gem!! They have good coffee with fun specials and an absolutely beautiful backyard area. The outdoor space feels so serene and peaceful. The perfect spot for catching up with friends or getting some work done. This spot is a little hidden, but stick to the left side of the building and you'll find the entrance! Baristas are nice and helpful, always a friendly face.

This was actually one of the best cups of coffee I have had recently. It was a fresh pot and piping hot. They have a beautiful outdoor patio that is brimming with fresh flowers. I actually decided to sit inside and enjoy the view due to the heat. The patio should be ideal in the cooler fall weather. It's sort of a hidden gem on the edge of Germantown. Service was excellent today.

Loved my time at Hinterhof. I cannot wait to go back during the summer for their private patio in the back. Such a quaint little space, and with great coffee!

One of my favorite cafe's! It's peaceful and welcoming, to both me and my dogs. Everything is quality, the breakfast biscuits are excellent. Great coffee and they don't rush the process, wonderful foam, and some fun seasonals. But what I love is the conversation. Every single time I go there I'm engaged in conversation, which never happens for me. They are all so caring and sweet. Nice outdoor patio, and a resident cat who is smart enough to disappear when I bring my dogs. 5. For sure.

My absolute favorite coffee shop in Louisville. Pistachio latte will always be my go to.

This place has been on my list for a long time. I was looking forward to trying it. The hours posted online are not the same hours posted on the door. I pulled up at 7:15am (sign said they opened at 7am) on Monday. They were not open at all. I'm really disappointed. I did not even know the hours posted online said they aren't open Mon-Tues but the sign out front says they are open.

"This is not the coffee shop you are looking for . . . " said partly in jest because I want to keep it all to myself--but I also want to keep it open. Such a sweet hideaway shop behind the barber. Indoor and outdoor seating; natural light in a historic building. The courtyard is nicely kept. Coffee may be in mugs!! Hurrah. Barista Stevie was very chill while being attentive and helpful. I watched her grate fresh orange zest for one of their Autumn drinks. The drinks offered enhance the coffee. Though they can probably pack the drinks with sugar, that is not how they are designed. Definitely will return.

This is a hidden gem. It is a charming shop with a sweet beautiful patio garden complete with flowers and bird song. I ordered the Peruvian pour over which was exquisite. I am mostly a dark roast girl, but this was really a wonderful experience with clear chocolate notes. Usually I add sweetener to coffee, but this coffee was so excellent it did not need sweetener for me. The service was helpful and cheerful. The restroom was clean and had character. I highly recommend this place!!!

Coffee is outstanding. Service is impeccable. Beautiful interior and wonderful courtyard. Best of all, the shop is dog friendly.
