We were there at 2pm on Monday, April 7/25. To counter some of the other reviewers, the young man at Hippies and Hops was super friendly and helpful to everyone including me. He saw me waiting next door at Peached Tortilla and asked me if I needed to place an order and he was able to do it for me. He was very helpful at the bar and provided excellent service to all of his patrons. I took off one star because the prices are really too high even for airport prices at $15++

Google
No prices listed, credit card only—and they still charge a fee for using one. I paid nearly $34 for a bad canned cocktail with Tito’s added and a draft beer. The cocktail tasted cheap and unbalanced. No menu prices means you don’t realize how much of a ripoff it is until the check drops. Borderline exploitative. I’m sure they count on people not checking airport bar reviews because of limited options.

Google
This food store is the most ridiculous place I have ever visited. Their customer attendants were super rude and unwelcoming! Above all, they are rejecting cash, a publicly recognized legal tender document duely approved by the United States of America! When has the US declared that cash should be rejected for business transactions? I can understand if large amount is rejected due to change issues. But for this store to reject legal tender, it is another cause for alarm!

Apollo Gonzales

Google
$20 for the signature cocktail, cherry limeade. 3oz of cherry flavored Tito’s and half a can of sparkling water. I pay less for an actual cocktail in NYC. Unless you’ve got a per Diem burning a hole in your pocket, take a pass.

Google
How the hell can you charge $15 for a take away domestic beer, while also charging a service and credit card fee before tip. Airports are a ripoff in general, but this is offensive.

Jay Snodgrass

Google
Avoid this bar at all costs. Wine prices are 50% higher than the rest of the airport bars. $22 for 8oz glass of Ecco Domaine which is like an $8 bottle of Pinot Grigio in the stores. Total scam they don’t display prices either so you only find out when you check out.

Lauren Brigman

Google
Ordered the cheapest wine ( menu has no prices so you’re left to guess) and they just rung me up for $17!! The wine they served me is a $6 bottle. While I get that prices are escalated in airports, everyone else seems to be able to do it $3-6 cheaper. Man! I should have shopped around. Never going to any of their establishments. I don’t even want this wine now. And it is confirmed that you can get wine next door for $11. Just ridiculous.

Jessica Taramasco

Google
The bartender was a complete jerk. One glass of beer was $15. He charged the card before telling my husband the cost. He was not friendly and didn’t even look at him or talk to him. The exchange was less than 30 seconds. When my husband did not give a tip based on lack of service he said “thanks for your generosity”. Then he said it AGAIN when my husband walked by a second time. Unbelievable that people expect a tip when they did nothing and didn’t show basic customer service.

Yelp
If Nate is behind the bar, you are in for a real bartender experience, as in, sure, you may be at the airport, but this guy wants you to feel like you're at your fave local watering hole. He gives suggestions, hands out samples, and serves up some corny but lovable jokes. They only have beer and wine, but if that's what you're looking for, score a seat at this small operation and count your lucky stars if Nate is working during your airport downtime.

Yelp
Girl behind counter appears to be on drugs. Talked to her at 9pm and she said they were closed, we then pointed to hanging sign that said it closed at 1005pm. All the while, she was physically crouched under the bar hiding, Then she said it was Monday and that posted times were a lie. All of this happened on a Friday night‍.

Yelp
Wanted to bring an amber or red home to my boyfriend. They saved the day by having to go beer. Beer was great

Yelp
UPDATED REVIEW! I'll be honest: I don't remember coming through here before (it's been awhile, I'll admit!) but there must be something about this place that got me so easily pulled back! (For real, though, there are plenty of other places I could have gone to, yet I still ended up here!) I got to the cashier. Nobody there. I waited patiently, looked around and noticed a couple of peeps chit-chatting at the Peached Tortilla area. I didn't want to assume, so I didn't disturb. But after a few more seconds and a couple of people forming a line behind me, I just had to interrupt. Yeah, one of them worked for this spot. (Okay, so just a side note. This is located at an airport and naturally, people are always on a time constraint. Every second counts, and delays like this should be a no-no.) Otherwise, it was all good from there. I enjoyed my brewski as I waited for boarding time. Might have upped this a star if I didn't hit that snag...

Yelp
The taco tortilla was old, hard, and tasted awful. Fries was okay. Rice bowl wasn't too bad, but not worth trying again. I had an inconvenient stomach issue after I ate here. Would not come back here.

Yelp
The pros: You can get a wine to go. The cons: The wine was $14 for a shot like amount. The cup was around the size of those dentist office mouthwash cups.

Yelp
Okay for a beer spot, shares a register/counter with the taco place next door. The lady who took orders was very sweet and a fast expediter, but the $14 local craft beer was a killer. Headed over to the Delta club shortly after!

Yelp
Great little craft beer bar here at the Austin airport. Yes...to sit at the bar, you have to order beer. The other tables, order whatever you want. I will say the staff here was doing a great job of keeping the flow of weary travelers satisfied with great local beers and bowls/tacos. The beers here are few but a great selection and the prices are decent (especially for an airport).

Yelp
$12 for a bud light in a cheap plastic cup and served with attitude . Ridiculous we have to pay for a $3 beer outside or $10 at a nice bar . America will never change if nobody complains and keep taking it like idiots with all this crap

Milana B.

Yelp
I ordered two 8oz glasses of wine and one 5oz glass and my bill was literally $70 (to be specific, it was Kim Crawford wine which costs ~$15 per bottle at target). Service was minimal but I'm now understanding why they don't have any prices posted. I get we're at an airport and I would have been less baffled if I knew what I was paying per glass, but the fact that they're deliberately hiding what they're charging instead of being upfront about it is super f***ing slimy.

Yelp
Lala (aka Carla) had great recommendations for craft beer, excellent and prompt service, and friendly, positive energy that made me relaxed and read for my flight.

Yelp
Ok; it's an airport. Alcohol is going to be expensive. $10 beer is just fine especially if it's a draft and well made! And it was directly across from my gate; couldn't have planned it any better!
google avatar

Katie R.

Yelp
Was just told that I cannot sit in one of their chairs unless I'm drinking alcohol. I asked to buy any non-alcoholic drink (because I'm sober) and was turned away. Beyond disgusting.

Yelp
Pretty drab selection for a place called Hippies and Hops. Coors, Stella, Modelo, Ziegenbock from the big guys and Real Ales Axis IPA and 3 Live Oak (hef, pilz, big bark) from the little guys. No food as it's co-located in the small food court that replaced Hoover's/Hill's/pretzel place. Just means you have to wait in line twice :/
google avatar

Dan G.

Yelp
For a place named hippies and hops the server was not very chill, quite bro-ish actually. I took a seat and waited while the he served the people in front of me. Then he served three more who got there after me. While this was happening he started serving the line that formed In the mean time. I asked for a beer and he said I'd have to wait until he served all the people who got there "before" me. Geesh. All I wanted was a beer. Beer selection was pretty mediocre. Five big beer largers one ipa a pils a hefe and something that was at 25 ibus. It wasn't very interesting to begin with and with the attitude I didn't think I would have ever gotten a beer.

Yelp
Nothing like ordering a simple local beer and being side swiped with a $12 dollar charge. What a rip off. Prices are noticeably absent for a reason. Poor design of the bar area itself and a very limited selection. May as well wait or walk to anything else.

Patrice T.

Yelp
A draft Modelo was $11-12 (from what I could work out from my non-itemized receipt). The service was slow and the bartender showed little interest in me once I'd ordered. The BBQ tacos were bland. I chalked it up to airport food and prices... until I walked around a bit and saw $7 draft beers and delicious-looking BBQ. Then I just felt stupid. Avoid!

Yelp
What a great stop at ABIA! Live Oak is definitely one of my favorites, so I am very happy with the beer selection. You can order from The Peached Tortilla, too, making it a favorite combo. Bartender Sara was great. Outstanding service. Can't wait to fly again.

Yelp
I had a transfer and was wanting something fast but not too much to eat. This place is right across gate 17. So I looked them up and found a picture of something that looked good. The picture did not have any description so I took a shot and showed it to the cashier, he immediately knew what it was and told me it was chicken. So I purchased it and it was very good! Its sweet/spicy but not too spicy. They also have an egg which gives it a really good taste to it. I have never had this before but it is really delicious. Any one looking for a quick good meal this is perfect, takes like 3-5 mins to bring out.

Yelp
There is not much order to this place when it comes to getting a beer. You've got seats and people standing in line so it's tough to say which will get you service quicker. I grabbed a seat thinking I'd have my drink order taken but not until everyone in line was serviced first, bout 5 people. By the time my order was taken, the person was quite rude and rushed and the beer was rather expensive. Sure, it's an airport but, let's be realistic here. Poor service, poor management, no structure, and over priced drinks means I won't be back. The only reason this didn't get one star was because I enjoyed my beer

Yelp
Avocado toast and scrambled eggs are delicious!!! Staff is friendly. They start serving etoh @0700

Yelp
WOW Nate the bartender is the nicest person I have encountered... I was so confused when I came by and this gentleman lead the way. You do not expect service like this from an airport, from the beer I ordered and to the food I was served. A smile goes a long way :)) I paid twelve dollars for a beer and it was definitely worth the cost... Cheers to you Nate !!

Sabrina A.

Yelp
I wasn't too Hungry, but their bavarian fries were excellent. If I had been hungrier, I would have tried their Korean steak bowl which was very reasonable priced and looked very good with good size portion of steak and rice

Erin A.

Yelp
If you have a long flight it's worth it to go in here. Full service at the bar and friendly people. Ben suggested the Axis IPA which was just what I needed!

Shelbi M.

Yelp
Just flew in and got a beer with Ben. Great guy to welcome me to town and gave great suggestion inside and out of the airport!

Momo C.

Yelp
Great brews, local craft and attached to Peached Tacos. Nate was an amazing bartender, enthusiastic, energetic and helpful. Had an Axis IPA and some cauliflower tacos. Will definitely stop by again.

Nick A.

Yelp
Slow, condescending servers. Go elsewhere, there are lots of other great options in the ATX airport.
