Hippie's Pizza

Best pizza in south east Michigan. Plenty of different flavors and variety. Personal favorite is the daft punk with peperoni. Always friendly staff in there. The owner is always super cool anytime I have a question. I eat here all the time driving 30-40 mins round trip. This is the first time I’ve ever gave them a review but they deserve plenty of more great reviews from me because they’ve never disappointed in the past.

Highly recommend! We have ordered from Hippie's the last 3 years and have not once been disappointed. They have so many pizza selection options that you can continue trying new variations you may have never considered before! Delivery time and quality are always consistently great.

I'm sorry but I don't know what may have happened. I remember Hippies having terrific pizza and I thought they had the small pepperonis that are so good. The guys at the store were great and the delivery guy was nice but the pizza was awful. I had a large round and it didn't have any sauce?!? And just the regular pepperonis. My wife couldn't eat any and I fought my way through a few pieces. Never met a pizza I didn't like until last night. Sorry guys.

best pizza ive had in a while.. definitely try the mac daddy. they were very friendly inside and even added a 20% off to my bill :) such a cozy place will 100% be back to try some more cool menu items!

Ordered a deep dish, when I arrived they said they ran out of deep dish dough and made a round pizza instead. I didn't want that, that's not what I ordered, so I asked for a refund. They completely refused to give me a refund or even a discount. They should have told me on the phone or called me back and asked if I wanted a substitution or a refund. Never going here again.

I was really pleasantly surprised at the quality of their gluten free pizza! I recall having their GF pizza a little over 5 years ago & it is wayyyyy better quality now. The GF crust they have now is fluffy & not too bread-y, it’s thin but it has crust! As in, it’s thicker than the thin crust pizza they sell AND it puffs up at the edge *almost* like a regular circular pizza. & considering how many sauces & toppings u can choose from their menu, the somewhat steep cost of add on toppings feels worth it for the promise of interesting and flavorful gluten free pizza. Plus it’s a good-sized personal pizza compared to other pizza places, but the leftover pizza does get bread-y and crumbly quick—consider reheating as opposed to eating it cold. I’m glad we gave their pizza another shot! I hope we can make it our regular place :)

I’ve ordered from hippies for years love their pizzas. Just spoke to the owner and I have never met anyone so rude. My pizza came with light toppings at best. And he let me know that he hasn’t had a day off in a year and he basically gives does not care about producing quality product or talking to his customers a tone that’s not rude and condescending. I am sad because I do love their pizzas but it’s hard to support someone who is so rude. This pizza is supposed to have broccoli carrot corn, if you look hard, you can see it. It does have plenty of lettuce and onion. He told me I could bring it back and he would quality check it. However, I have to leave for work. He then hung up. This is also maybe the second time in life that I have ever left a review for poor service, as the owner told me to go ahead and blast him on social media, I decided to take him up on that offer.

This little gem continuously delivers the most ooey gooey delicious zaa. Their take on the classic Margarita is fantastic, and lots of gluten-free and vegan options for the friends and familia on restricted diets. Fast and friendly service. Thank you!

While the service is slow, and the pizza joint does not have great in store or in restaurant dining area, It is a place that you definitely want to order ahead and then go and pick up. The pizza varieties are very diverse. Lots of options. I recommend looking at the menu. I would give this restaurant four stars because of the variety, and the food quality and toppings do not lock. A lot of food and value for your money.

This is from some months ago. I ordered a pizza which, with tip and all of the other 'fees', came to over $40.00. Absolutely the worst pizza I've ever had. I managed to eat 1/2 of one piece as almost the whole pizza was soggy, so I tossed it. I've lived just about across the street for 32 years and I drive by there every day and it hasn't even occurred to me in that period of time to order from there - and then I remembered why - I had the same experience there some years ago. Just one person's opinion, respectfully. Tania's at 13m/Crooks has excellent pizza - I would highly recommend this establishment.

Hey Hippies, go fly a kite! My wife went up to grab pizza the other day, (2) large with 2 toppings based on your M-W special for $21.99 plus $4 however the tab arrived over $40. Sadly I did not share with her to pay attention to exact $$ however, you are crooks and honesty your pizza was so weak like I remembered it about 10 years ago. Save your money people. Bait and Switch at a mom and pop wow. Pizza is very bland, with minimal toppings and extremely fatty meats.

I have only had carry out from here a couple of times, it gets an A for creativity for sure. It's a delivery only spot for sure. Gourmet pizza spot. Lots of menu item options for folks that like pizza out of the box ideas. The execution of their pizzas I have always felt was not as fantastic as it could be and for their prices though. My husband always tends to get his pizzas a large, for some cold leftovers the next day. We have tried: BBQ pizza with chicken $22.99, magic mushroom $22.99, veggie supreme $22.99, white stripe pizza $22.99, Hawaiian punk $24.99 Service is standard. No ambiance really, since it's a delivery spot.

Just ordered pizza and salad for delivery first time . On time delivery. Salad was ok. Pizza had no sauce, NONE. Toppings wrong. Called and talked to manager. Unapologetic. No more Hippies. Don't do it. Pizza 5.6. Service 1.3.

Not good tonight, 1st ordered wings with sauce on the side, came with sauce on the wings. Pizza, tastes like ingredients are old, I think it's the beef. Pepperoni, ground beef and mozzarella balls. Just tastes old, don't know how to describe it. $50 down the drain .

I've been eating my way through the Hippies pizza menu for a solid six months now. Like literally have tried maybe half of the hundred or so pizzas on the menu. The guys working are so slobby and constantly stoned but they actually do a really good job with their orders, and the pizza is reliably good. It is NOT artisan pizza. But it is creative and delicious. Some of my favorites have been the porky's, the chicken parm, the Mack pizza, and the steakhouse. The only one I didn't like so far was the Willie Nelson which was just too weird. They have plenty of choices for size and style, they're open late, and they do a good job with delivery. All in all, it's not great pizza but it is what it is. I will order again.

CHEESE BREAD REVIEW ONLY : I'm 36, have eaten a lot of cheese bread in my life. Two of my coworkers and I got 3 different kinds of bread last night - 1: bacon onion mozz 2: the 3 cheese the one with ricotta and 3: the regular cheese bread . It was a consensus that they were all horrible. They were salty and the garlic powder didn't go. There was nothing really enjoyable about the breads at all including texture. The breads were just bad. I wouldn't ever get them again. I don't know how garlic cheese bread could be bad, but it just was.

I love this place. Amazing and creative gourmet. Pizza. Service is good. It's a carry out place. So your in and out.

If there was an option for ZERO stars, this would be the place to use it. We signed up for Hippie's loyalty program and received an email for a free birthday pizza. We called the establishment to get more information about the reward and they indicated we would have to come to the store to show them the email and place our order. We drove over a half hour, only to be informed by the owner that there was no barcode to scan on the email, so he would not accept it. The owner then barked at an employee to provide us with a number to call so that we would not waste any more of his time. Presumably, the number was for the company that runs their loyalty program. When we called the number, we were told that this was an issue for the establishment to handle. We went back to the store, only to get yelled at by the owner. He flat out refused to honor the email. In order to save the approximately $3 (or less) that it would have cost him to make an individual size pizza, he lost our business forever. An owner with absolutely no regard for his customers has no business being in business!

I love their cheesy bread and creative pizzas. I have seen a worker smoking right in front of the door and people working are normally stoned but they end up with my stomach satisfied. I recommend going here if you're up for something out of the ordinary!

Pizza is okay. Tried both build your own and a specialty pizza. I wasn't terribly impressed with either . Pizzas ready on time and warm.

The pizza is good. The service is not. If you need pizza late at night, or if you want vegan pizza, and don't mind workers hanging up on you in a fit of rage because you had to call again to make changes to your order, then this is the place for you. I've never been to a business where the workers throw a fit at you over the smallest shit. I've heard other people had bad experiences with service here too. It's a shame, because their pizza is good, but it's not worth it. Don't go here

Wait.. how have I not reviewed yet! Sometimes when I'm feeling sad I like to order myself a pizza with my wine and 90's movie. I literally had the best pizza last week. The big dill with cauliflower crust obviously add the flavor and mods u like but if you haven't had a pickle pizza ever in your life, try it. I seek pickle pizza at every pizza joint I go to. Hippies nailed it.

Hands down the BEST vegan pizza in the area. They quit using Daiya cheese....that has catapulted this pizza to new horizons. You could not have made me believe the cheese was not real cheese. But apparently Hippies changed the vegan brand they use and it was for the better. I order the vegetarian pizza with the vegan cheese, the cheese bread and a salad. Toppings were plentiful and service was nice a friendly. Definitely a hole in the wall....but hey they typically have the best food don't they? And Hippies definitely proved that statement to accurate!

I can't say enough good things about my first experience with Happies Pizza. I called today at 11:30 to place a delivery order. I admitted to the gentleman on the phone that this was my first order and I may have some questions, with a relatively large lunch order (5 pizzas) he didn't miss a beat and answered all of my questions and even gave me a discount seeing as it was my first order. I was quoted 45 minutes to an hour and the pizza showed up within the time expected. The pizza was hot and fresh. I wasn't sure what to expect from a place called hippies pizza but what I got was pizzas made with fresh ingredients, flavorful pizza with a doe and crust that was both light and crisp. I will absolutely be back and suggest you give it a try. We tried the 5 listed below and would recommend any of them as they were all winners Margaritaville Double bacon cheeseburger Supreme White Stripe - my favorite Fat bastard

Absolutely outstanding! Great customer service and absolutely delicious food. My go-to is the Detroiter and it never disappoints. Highly Recommend!

I never write bad reviews for local restaurants, but I am horrified at my experience just now calling Hippies Pizza in Royal Oak. I had a bunch of questions, due to food restrictions (is your gluten-free crust also vegan) and life-threatening allergies (do you use sesame on your pizzas), and the person with whom I was speaking didn't know any of the answers...not one. So, each question, he was yelling it out to the other staff and getting the answer. After the question about sesame, his colleague yelled out "you can hang up on them." What????!!!!! I was excited to try this place, and am so disappointed in being treated so rudely.

Pizza - 5 star. Owner - 1 star. Always wanted to try this place. Finally did. No regrets. Gluten free dough is fantastic. Thin crust dough is good. Chicago style pizza is not really Chicago style: it's a thin crust with turned up edges. Not sure why they call it Chicago style. Still good though. 1st time I ordered here, had to wait 10 minutes longer than told. 2nd time I ordered, when I arrived, they did not even start the order. I ordered 1 gluten free and 1 deep dish. Both come only in medium. They ran out of deep dish dough. So kid at countered offered to make it a large thin crust, which is $2 more. Owner told kid at counter he would not do it without me paying the $2. Kid was embarrassed, and try to convince the owner that is the right thing to do for good customer service. Owner was a jerk to him. I really like the pizza here. I don't mind the owner wanting to charge me $2 more, but I did not like him being a jerk to the kid at the counter.

Very meh. The pizza was underdone. It appears that when it was transferred to the box, everything shifted and all the toppings were on 1 side. I did not do that since I kept them level. I was so looking forward to this pizza. Please someone give me a reason to try again. And Chicago style is just a round with a little extra dough on the sides.

Hanging at a friends in Royal Oak, I ordered food & paid (on credit card) $67.42 on hippies website....I gave them plenty of time to deliver the food (2x as long as what my online confirmation had provided; as it was a busy dream cruise Saturday). I called the restaurant multiple times to track down my driver and the calls went unanswered. Assuming the restaurant had lost the order, we called it a night and drove home. I got a call 35 minutes into my drive home, asking if I want food dropped on porch or doorbell rang. I advised they failed to deliver as promised, failed to call to inform me of delivery running late and they FAILED to pick up phone when I called looking for food. Caller blew up!....caller advised he was the owner & he was working alone....he advised He was cancelling the order and putting (our friends) address on his "do not deliver" list. I waited 5 days for transaction to cancel and when It never was. I called to talk to owner and the coward would not come to the phone and told employee to tell me to fight for the refund with my bank. You are a real class act Chris Culbertson!

My co-worker and I are in a late shift, starving with not too many delivery options, besides door dash. We did not have $200 to have DoorDash deliver a meal, so we went local! The best decision ever! The customer service was great, delivery was super fast, and the food was hot upon delivery! Let's start with the Monti Cristo sandwich...REMINDED ME OF Bennegins!!! Super good!! It was a bit smaller, but the taste made up for the size. I order Chicken Alfredo pizza whenever I order pizza, tried a few places...but this pizza is the absolute best! I honestly don't think there's a pizza place close by that can out do Hippies! Great job!! I will definitely refer our guests to your establishment!

Probably won't be back because my wife swears she got sick from here, however they have a lot of great vegan and veg options and some stuff on the menu is more out of the ordinary if you're tired of the same old pizza. I liked it for that.

Not sure why they only have 3 stars. Lived in Royal Oak for 25 years. How did I not eat here before?! Amazing ingredients and cooked perfectly!!! Worth every carb!!! HIPPIES FOR THE WIN

DO NOT GO HERE! The WORST customer service in the area! READ THIS HORRIBLE INTERACTION! Have been a loyal customer here for years and years and have always loved their food and customer service, there is usually the coolest people taking your order over the phone and working when you pick it up! Recently I placed an order, a very small order, a small pepperoni pizza and an order of there cinnamon sticks. I grab my bag to head out and check it to make sure I have everything, realizing I forgot my wallet at work, so I called back NOT EVEN 10 minutes later, they said it would a 30 minute wait, and the child on the phone picks up, I say exactly this, truly apologizing for any inconvenience and he sighs, and snaps at me "Well we already cooked your food and it's all going to waste now." And HANGD UP ON ME. I was shocked. I have given them SO much business and referred SO MANY PEOPLE! I called back and asked politely to speak to a manager, the SAME KID PRETENDS TO BE THE MANAGER, I express my frustration and he responds, I couldn't make this up, "What else is there to say?" I say "are you asking me" he says "you already wasted the food. I reply "you're pretending to be the manager?" And he calls to someone in the back and he up on me again!!! I was APPALLED! DO NOT GO HERE THEY ARE RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, AND UNGRATEFUL FOR YOUR BUSINESS. DO NOT give them your money.

Great pizza with vegan cheese options. Takes forever to get order...start an hour before you are hungry!

Meet a pizza place with a WOW factor. We tried Hippies for the first time last night and what an impression. After this long SIP due to COVID, we found ourselves looking for something new and untested (by anyone we know). First, props to these guys for having dairy-free cheese. My daughter has a sensitivity and she was able to have this pizza and enjoyed it! Second, the entire family raved about their pizza, each of us having our own style. Me, I had the BBQ pizza with pulled pork and I woke up craving the leftovers. A definite must-have-again! These guys have a huge variety of craft pizzas and I can't wait to give it another go. If you can't find something on this menu, it means you didn't even look.

If I could give this pizza spot zero stars I would. The worst customer service I've ever experienced. We ordered our pizza thru DoorDash and the correct receipt came w. The wrong order of pizza. The shop made the incorrect pizza and sent it w. The doordash person. None of us eat meat, and we received a meat pizza w. The receipt "Athena" which is a VEGGIE pizza. We called the shop asking if we can get the correct order and they told us there was nothing they could do -- to go through DoorDash. The "owner" told them to hang up on us. You're joking right? This has to be the worst customer service I've ever had in my entire life. It costs you probably $3 to make that pizza and instead of doing the right thing by the CUSTOMER you completely fckd us, buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get fckd. This is our neighborhood pizzeria, and we just ordered carry out for the first time last night. We were all really excited because of the large menu and late hours. The staff was friendly, the wait time was reasonable, and our pizzas were great. So thankful to have them within walking distance for late night snacks with our vegan houseguests!

Currently enjoying my leftover pizza as I write this, grease-smudged keyboard be damned. Real one alert: shoutout to Hippie's for their abundance of vegan options! I recently got introduced to this spot and can't get enough. FMU with the cajun crust, and hit me with the veganstix as well. Not much I love more than a warm stick of herby bread drenched in marinara. I gotta dabble in their vegan desserts next. Not only is their food delicious, but I had a pretty minor customer service experience last night that actually made me love this place even more. I was walking up to pickup my order and an employee was leaving through the front door. When he saw me approaching, he doubled back to grab the door and hold it for me. OK HIPPIE'S I SEE YOU SEEING ME. Then while I was standing in line for the counter, he came back in inside and immediately asked me if I was picking up. (Note: he was not stationed at the POS, as another employee was and was helping the customer in front of me.) I had my order within 10 seconds. In a world of being ignored in line until it's "your turn," this small act of speeding up my pickup was greatly appreciated. The reason I order pickup is to avoid lines if possible, and Hippie's somehow managed to make this process even more efficient. (I should have asked for his name, I remember he was tall and dark featured.) Thank you for the small but extremely kind customer service, it is greatly appreciated!

Stay away from "thin crust" it's one of those premade big tortilla things and they didn't cook it long enough to make it palatable. Our other pizza was good and breadsticks where also fine.

I have to admit it has been a minute since I have been to Hippies, but I decided I would get it on a Saturday night. I don't even know where to begin. So I order up Pizza and Three Cheese bread my total order came to $27.54. Online ordering said 30 minutes. I showed up 35 minutes later, and it wasn't ready. That is no big deal. But when I showed up, and the cashier seemed super annoyed, I was in there picking up a carryout. So I get my food and get back home ready to chow a great pizza. Wow, I was super disappointed when I got home! The one thing I have learned from this experience. I will always open up before I take it home. Looking at this pizza, look at the photo. It was made like crap. I feel like I could have gone to Little Ceasers and got a Hot and Ready. It would have been a step up from this pizza. Maybe they were having an off night, but how could they pull this monstrosity out of the oven and not see it was looking terrible. Also, I ordered the three-cheese bread, which I have done before. I was expecting the bread to look like it had tater tots on it. I get 2020 has been a crazy year but really this is how you are rolling now?

I loved the strange variety of pizzas. I got a goat cheese with honey and red pepper and husband ordered a bacon cheeseburger pizza. There were tons of vegetarian options and several vegan ones. I accidentally ordered "delazones" (calzones) but the bread was good enough that it wasn't too heavy. We ordered cheese bread and the special brownies. We split a brownie and it was fantastic. I look forward to trying more flavors in the future.

The gentleman on the phone was very short on the phone but I understood because it's a Saturday night and they are busy. When I went in to get my pizza the guy at the counter (WITHOUT A MASK) was so freaking rude and short with me - like I said I understand they are busy but I was the only one in the lobby at the time and the phone wasn't ringing. Both of my pizzas were cold as ice and they both needed to be re-cut because whoever cut them didn't actually apply a tiny bit of pressure to actually cut the pizzas. So since I've worked at many pizza places and I noticed that there weren't any slices cut but a few marks in the cheese to where it was attempted to be cut-I recognize that I would have to cut both pizzas or else it would be impossible to try to pull a slice off. So rude service, ice cold pizzas, sub par Parmesan bread which I had to actually add Parmesan when I got home (while I appreciate they didn't smother it with butter but you do need a decent amount of butter so your sticks aren't hard and also so the Parmesan sticks instead of being all over the bag. However, there was barely any Parmesan on the order to be all over the bag. I'm not cheap but 31 bucks for a small, medium, and a small bread (round and picked up) should have at least been warm and palatable. Very sad because they have a definite great menu, location, and ability to serve a quality pizza. Tonight however while being treated like crap, receiving two ice cold pizza's, having to cut my own pizza when I got home, and the bread situation have pretty much turned me off to Hippies. I would have called and complained but I didn't want to deal with the dude at the front counter who basically just sat there and didn't get off of his chair to grab my order or to do anything but sit there and be insanely rude. In fact I worked there a long time ago and I have never treated a customer in that fashion. If he was running around, there were people filled in the lobby, he was helping possibly bag delivery orders, answering the phone, or doing anything besides just sitting there then maybe I would've understood why he was very short and extremely rude with me. I don't think they even care if they lose a customer but they have definitely lost a longtime customer.

i almost died, I'm allergic to dairy and this is the second time I told them i was vegan and I was given pizza with dairy this was on credit because of this same mistake.im very lucky to be here with my husband and kids. I wanted to call to let them know this happened again but the store is closed now.

We have gotten delivery from there twice now since the lockdown. They are fast and friendly and the pizza is amazing. The best part is the amount of variety they have. If you are vegetarian or vegan there are SO MANY options! I believe there's about 20ndifferent vegetarian pizzas they make. I'm making it a goal to try as many of them as I can.

I can't give zero stars? F! Never had hippies, but haven't heard anything good about it to begin with. Well, I'll give it a try and make my own opinion. Website says open til 2am and I know this place is sorta known for being open crazy late. I call at 11ish, and some chick picks up to say "hippies pizza, we're closin" hah okay, then 1) change your hours online 2) don't pick up at all? Most of these bs restaurant workers don't understand PR or work ethic whatsoever. Guess I'm glad these a pizza joint for them to make a couple dollars at.. Needless to say, will cross hippies off my list of places to try. and the place looks like Shit. Go to Green Lantern. They actually have integrity and accurate hours posted.

The mutant who is usually at the front desk is so rude and overcharged me last time. If someone is nice enough to patronize your business you should have the decency to not treat them like absolute crap, but the basement dwelling manager was completely unhelpful and a jerk every step of the process. He must be the owner because no one with a brain would employ that weirdo. The pizza is good but that guy has ruined my view of the place and I won't be returning. Why you so mad bro?

Best gluten-free pizza!!! The owner was super friendly and accommodating. We showed up during Memorial Day weekend and he wasn't quite open yet, but he said he just turned the ovens on and could have our pizzas ready within 2 hours. I live in Toledo and every time I come up to Detroit, I always try to get Hippies Pizza. My cousins are gluten-free and have great taste in gluten-free foods and this is their favorite gluten-free pizza, so that says something! We ordered the Mary Jane, Don Ho, and Zeus. My fave is the Mary Jane. Make sure to get the butter garlic crust with it too. The Zeus was a nice blend of Greek style since it had gyro. The Don Ho is like a Hawaiian pizza but better. Highly recommend this place and think it'd be one of the hot new spots if they ever have a location in Portland!

Cool things: interesting veg options, including proteins Uncool things: getting no silverware when getting a dlvy to a hotel Getting onions all over my no onions salad Being overcharged for an add on item Getting a delivery 45 minutes past the estimated time Getting a delivery that includes undercooked bread sticks and the inability to get anything done about it because they are open but not answering the phone. Maybe eat in is better but this entire meal was garbage and I'm going to bed hungry. Thanks!

I'm going to disagree with many people who have voted for Hippies! They have great pizza and jalapeño poppers! Yummmyyyyyyy The people there are nice and they have a great selection of ice tea! They have a banana split pizza that's to DIEEEEE FORRRRR. Why why why would you do this to me! It's like an addiction I have every time I get a carry-out! The only small complaint I have is that pineapple chunks need to be halved. Otherwise it's all perfection!!! It's only been a miss once and all the other times have been a hit

Creative pizzas for the burbanites. Hippies is laid back, yummy, with options for everyone. I really like their tots. A satisfactory supplement to my Pie Sci pizza diet when I find myself too far from home. :)

Ordered 2 pizzas thru door dash so slow to complete order driver canceled. when the finally did complete order and was delivered to me tasted like a reheated frozen pizza! so sad the lady I talked to on the phone had no care how bad my order was. Blamed it on the driver. i will never order from them again. what horrible customer service!!!!

Wow! Blown away! This is VEGAN galore, as they have not only vegan cheese (violife), but also amazing vegan sausage and vegan pepperoni! They also do vegan bread sticks, and vegan cinnamon sticks! It's a legit hole in the wall, but they've been around a while and obviously do well! The atmosphere there is super friendly too. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a friendly smile and just all around a good vibe. The only thing I would've done different for my pizza is add marinara sauce (I guess we need to ask for it because it did not come with my pizza, still it was SOOOO GOOD!)

Straight up no masks on any of the workers upfront or in the back 2x I've been there in the last 2months. No distancing or sanitizing offered. Sketchy as hell, maybe be less high at work y'all?
