The 12 Best Chaat Vendors in New Delhi | Eater

"Old Delhi, the erstwhile capital of the Mugal emperor Shah Jahan, maintains its own specific dialects, customs, and cuisines. Even as other kinds of chaat have leaked into other parts of the city and country, kuliya chaat remains predominantly a specialty in the old city. Specialists hollow out cooked potatoes or sweet potatoes, as well as raw tomatoes and cucumbers, to act as kulhads, or vessels, for boiled chickpeas. The stuffed cups are topped with house spice mixes, pomegranate seeds, and abundant lemon juice. Hira Lal’s shop is more than 100 years old and one of the only shops to concentrate on this lighter, healthier chaat option in the old city. The shop also does a version with seasonal fruits, for which they use a different chaat masala, which is more sour and tangy than their standard spice mix, to bring out the sweetness of the fruit." - Sharanya Deepak

Very bad experience Took the aloo chat and kuliya ki chaat , overhyped by the reels on ig Omg! The aloo looked so bad I didn't even take a pic. They were fried twice, in bad oil. Then too, they were half fried. ....not at all recommended The kuliya ki chaat tasted like a basic fruit chaat that we make at home ...nothing fancy . It was expensive 100 rs for a normal mix of fruits with chana and lemon with masala

I tried their Kuliyan Chat.. it was great and then I tried their tikki.. it was also great... Very limited (4) seating that too on a temporary bench... On. A corner of a very busy road.... Just go for food....

Hari Lal Chaat Corner is a gem when it comes to taste! Their kuliya chaat is exceptional – fresh, tangy, and bursting with flavors, definitely a must-try for anyone who loves street food. The pav bhaji is also quite good and satisfying. However, the atmosphere and surroundings are not the best. The place gets very crowded, with people constantly moving around carrying heavy loads, making it difficult to find a comfortable spot to sit and enjoy the food peacefully. That said, the taste makes up for the lack of ambiance. If you’re in the area, don’t miss their kuliya chaat – it’s truly worth it!

I have eaten chaats from Lucknow to Jaipur and even in Delhi as well. But this shop is simply hype. I visited this place yesterday and it is pathetic. Sonth chutney/ meethi chutney real taste was not coming. Same case with green chutney no taste in it. They both had only colour. Aalo tikki was not that good, no masala inside tikki only plain potatoes mixed with peas were fried in not so good oil. This place lacks how to prepare street food. I won't recommend it at all!

Hira Lal chat corner is a very old and popular chat shop in Chawri Bazaar, it's located on a walking distance from Chawri Bazaar metro station. They have very limited variety of chats like Most famous Kuliya ki chat, Aloo chat, Aloo Tikki and Pav bhaji. But their most amazing thing is legendary Kuliya ki Chat, it's a fruit chat they cutout the inner part of various fruits like Pineapple, apple, Water melon and many more and fill the empty portion from their special Masala, chickpeas and pomegranate seeds. I'm not saying it's a die for but you can try it for something new atleast once. Their Aloo Chat is equally good and flavours are simply superb. This is a very small shop and you have to ask nearby people if you are new to old Delhi Chawri Bazaar area. Pav bhaji is also good but not the best but their aloo chat was amazing and Kuliya chat is something really unique.

Their kuliya chat is a novelty dish which one can try, Different fruit items are scooped out and filled with chick peas, pomegranate and spices to make a chat bite out of it. The presentation and dish is unique and thus must be tried atleast once. Those fruits were- pineapple, sweet potato(tastes best) , potato, orange, apple, banana, cucumber, watermelon, Papaya to name a few. It costs just 100₹
