Restaurant Hiramatsu Kōdaiji

Great food with amazing view of Kyoto. I tried their special holiday menu and while every dish was amazing the duck in puff pastry was a highlight.

An almost perfect experience. Great food, a great incredible wine selection, and the view was incredible. Service was also polite and impeccable until the very last moment, where we were offered to be reserved a taxi, and was then told there were no taxi's available. This would have been fine, if only we hadn't walked out and found two taxis reserved for groups who arrived later than us, and were definitely leaving later than us. This left us walking back in the rain (they did offer us a free umbrella for the walk back, however). Overall, 4.5 stars rounding down to 4 stars due to the bad feeling the taxi situation left us in

This meal is classic French with a Japanese accent— brilliantly executed. The setting is over Kyoto luxury with a collection of Joan Miro prints. The food was world class. The wine list outstanding. The service impeccable. This is quite worthy of the Michelin star. I would not be surprised if they get two with time.

We had a pretty good dinner at Hiramatsu Kodaiji. The food was good and nicely presented, though I cannot say that it was Michelin star spectacular. The lobster and wagyu main courses were good. Again, everything was good, but nothing was extraordinary (as compared to other restaurants we visited in Kyoto). Service was very good. Views of Kyoto were indeed spectacular. As was the bill, which at 148000 yen (over $1000) for a family of four was totally unjustified given the food.

One of my best meals in Kyoto, everything was perfect. Bonus points for exquisite coffee, you will be pleasantly surprised by the specialty grade espresso.

Very lovely, beautiful dining experience with magnificent view of the Pagoda. Great wine selection, and the Angelus is a steal! Order it while it last, best buy.

Delicious, impeccably presented Japanese-French cuisine. The view over Kyoto is beautiful but unless you grab a taxi you’ll have to prepare for you’ll have to pay for that view with a lengthy hike. The entrance isn’t obvious but there are staff outside waiting to greet you, speaking of which the service was also superb.

Every person that goes to Kyoto must go to this restaurant! exquisite food, amazing service and the view!!!! If you are even considering stop thinking and book right now. Probably one of the best lunches i ever had.
