On the Grid : Historic Fourth Ward Park

"This park has really changed the game in the O4W neighborhood where previously, no one really lived, much less spent time outside. It's a marker for what site remediation and re-use can do for an area and it acts as an essential connector between a continuously growing residential community and the local businesses that surround it." - Steven Johnson Studio

The 17 Best Things to Do in Atlanta

"This park behind Atlanta's Ponce City Market, a busy food hall and shopping center in a former warehouse, is perhaps best known for the Clear Creek Basin, a retention pond designed to reduce neighborhood flooding and simultaneously beautify the city's greener spaces. Ramps ensure that the entire park is ADA compliant, and there are plenty of flat surfaces offering space to take a rest. The surrounding buildings make the interior of the park easy to navigate. There's also a beloved playground with a sprinkler-equipped splash pad and grassy riser on which you can set up a picnic. You can watch the waterfowl go about their business at the central feature of the park. It's a nice respite from the city, especially for restless kids—and adults—who may yearn to stretch their legs in some green space." - Lia Picard, Jennifer Bradley Franklin

Nature and Parks in Atlanta

"From spring through fall, local popsicle slinger King of Pops hosts a free Tuesday evening yoga session on Historic Fourth Ward Park’s green. And hundreds of people show up. It’s quite a sight to behold at sunset with the downtown skyline as a backdrop. The park also has a skate park packed with kids and adults on boards and a stormwater runoff pond with waterfall and fountain that’s both functional and beautiful. Kids can cool off in the splash pad fountain near the playground. The park is adjacent to the Beltline Eastside Trail, but it also has parking if you’re coming by car. The park is open to the public from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM, but it’s best during daylight hours." - MATADOR_NETWORK

Google
Beautiful scenery and a spacious grassy area perfect for relaxing or picnicking. The landscaping is well-maintained and makes for a peaceful escape in the city. The only downside is that the walkway can get super crowded on nice days, so be prepared for some foot traffic.

Google
Great little park. Splash pad is wonderfully well kept and lots of fun for the kids. Right next to a playground so they can burn off some more energy

Sunny, lots of different perspectives to see from! Get lucky and spot the ducks, feed the minos in the pond, or witness a swan in flight ✈️ landing on the water... Make your own piece of peace ✌️

This park has become one of my favorite places to visit in Midtown. It’s located right next to the BeltLine, which makes it super easy to get to, but what I love most is how peaceful it feels. Even though it’s close to all the energy and movement of the city, once you’re inside the park, it’s calm, relaxing, and a perfect escape. I usually come here for my runs. The paths are well-maintained, and there’s a good amount of open space, which makes running feel refreshing. Whether I’m just jogging or stretching after a workout, the atmosphere is always pleasant. It’s not too crowded, and the people around are usually friendly and respectful, which adds to the experience. Another great thing about this spot is the surrounding area. There are tons of amazing coffee shops and restaurants just a short walk away. It’s perfect for grabbing a coffee after a run or meeting up with friends for a bite to eat. The neighborhood has a relaxed, welcoming vibe that perfectly matches the park itself. If you’re looking for a spot in Midtown where you can enjoy nature, stay active, and still be close to everything, this park is definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful park. Great playground area for the kids. Lots of green space to relax or have a nice picnic. Great water feature where you can watch the ducks. Restaurants in area and not far from Ponce city market

Google
A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Atlanta! Historic Fourth Ward Park is absolutely stunning! Nestled just off the BeltLine, it’s a perfect blend of urban charm and natural beauty. The landscaping is immaculate, with plenty of open green spaces, a scenic pond, and peaceful walking trails that make it a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. I recently attended the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival here, and I couldn’t imagine a better venue. The park’s layout was ideal for sampling delicious bites and sips while enjoying live music and soaking up the vibrant energy of the event. There was plenty of space to explore without feeling overcrowded, and the skyline views added a beautiful backdrop to the entire experience. Whether you’re attending a major event or just looking for a great place to unwind, Historic Fourth Ward Park truly delivers. A must-visit if you’re in Atlanta!

Yelp
Airport stop I first checked out this park years back during travels. It's amazing to see how the area has changed - all the new construction! Great walking paths, so many great photo opportunities, lots of steps! Well kept and close to the ponce market which I haven't had a change to check out yet.

Yelp
This park is not far from the greenway trail and various other food and attractions. It includes both a water park you can get in and some lakes which you cannot, as well as a variety of interweaving paths and plant life. The restrooms by the water features were a bit sketch, but functional, and there wasn't a whole lot else in the way of facilities. The rest of the park was pleasant enough to be worth a little detour, but not a prime destination in itself.

Yelp
Beautiful park. A lot of space. Also, it is unique for the skate park. It's a cool place to hang out, work out, picnic, or do anything else outside.

Yelp
Great place to visit if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Piedmont. There's also access to the beltline from here so you have options for activities. We actually sent up a picnic one Sunday and played games, ate, and just enjoyed ourselves. One thing I will say is there's little to no shade so if you have a tent that would be great on super warm or high UV days!

Yelp
Wow!! This park was amazing!! My 4 year old absolutely loved it. It's retry shaded with some neat spots to sit. Lots of different types of playground equipment. Parking was tricky, but overall enjoyable.

Yelp
As the buckle of the belt line, H4WP is a pretty impressive blend of form and function. As a respite in belt line travels it has accessibility to eating and drinking. As a relatively new park (less than ten years old), it serves as a backyard and/or cut through to the many new apartment residents and home buyers that populate the area. As an accessible green space, it acquits itself nicely with things to offer adults, kids, those with limited mobility, and pet owners. When urban planners are seeking new ways in which to incorporate green space with active city living, they'd be hard pressed to find a better example than H4WP. I came here because I wanted to roam a green space. When I visit cities, I don't just like to eat/drink. I like to get some feel for how locals live, whether that's by shopping, exploring popular neighborhoods and walkin' on the green grass. The park is ridiculously easy to find and parking on an overcast mid-spring Monday wasn't difficult. Parking across from Ponce Market, you'll first notice the flat green grass and historic art structures (cannons and the like). From there, trudge forward to get all the pictures of the amphitheater and pond. I was surprised to see that this was a real, 'working' ecosytem, flush with flora and fauna. Given its location, I thought this was an artificial system set up solely for the 'gram. I'm glad to have been wrong about that. Finding a waterfall in the middle of the city (even if it is man made) is a welcome discovery on any day. You can get right up to the edge of the water so hold on tight to the kiddos. Better yet, take them beyond the pond and straight on to the playground. It's decently-sized, has that squishy ground that makes falling a little less scary and is equipped with lots of things to climb, swing from and run around. Just past *that* are some excellent top of the hill/city views that you're going to want to take and post and show off to your friends. With the foot traffic, I can imagine that living here might get a tad annoying... but you live here. You have a super cool city park (leaning completely in to both words) as your backyard. Looking at the apartment/condo buildings abutting the grounds/green, I can see why all the patios were filled with furniture. This is prime city living. It's nice that it's open to the rest of us.

Yelp
Historic Fourth Ward Park is one of my favorite Atlanta public parks. It opened in June 2011 so it's relatively "new." The park is located across the street from Ponce City Market (to the south, across North Ave) and just west of the Eastside BeltLine Trail. A perfect day can be had by combining visits to the park, beltline, and market. At the time of writing this review, the park is split into two sections totaling 17 acres, so it's not huge. Ultimately, the sections will be combined into one to form over 30 congruous acres. There are lighted, paved trails, brick and stone, greenspace, lots of seating, a large, scenic stormwater retention pond with ducks and geese, waterfalls and fountains, an amphitheater, plants, flowers, and trees, a playground, splash pad, public restrooms, and a skatepark. The park is clean, safe, and well maintained. It's great to walk around and hang out in during the day or night. I really like its design which is modern, beautiful, and aesthetically pleasing. This is a good place to take pictures. The water in the pond can get a little stinky. The ducks are cute. The playground has some cool equipment that I wish I got to play with as a kid. I like how the ground is soft -- it's nice and safe for the kiddies. Tony Hawk was here for the opening of the skatepark in 2011 (he helped design it). The splash pad is open from May 1 to October 1, 10am to 8pm. There are free (and sometimes massive) exercise classes in the big greenspace next to the skatepark. They include yoga, aerobics, and other activities. Check the park's website for a calendar of events: http://www.h4wpc.com/. There's no parking lot, but there's plenty of free street parking around the park as well as next to the various nearby buildings and apartment communities. Just be aware of your surroundings and obey any parking signs you see. Streets with free parking include Dallas St, Garden Park Dr, Morgan St, North Angier Ave, and Rankin St.

Yelp
This oasis in the city is a beautiful example of what is old is new again. The park itself is built on land that was once owned by Dr. John Armistead who is considered one of the first European settlers for the city. Both Dr. Armistead and his wife Patience's headstone can be found at the Peachtree Baptist Church) Dr A is credited with naming the spring that flows through his property: Ponce de Leon because he believed the water held healing properties.... Once of the interesting features of this park I learned is the two acres detention pond which serves as run off reservoir from rain storms....speaking of floods...A few months ago I watched a 60 minutes segment about how Holland is one of the world's most flood prone places but they have never had a catastrophic flood due to ingenious placement of canals, dikes and windmills. In fact the Dutch take flood prevention planning so seriously that they have a Water Ambassador Henk Ovink. You can watch the interview here https://www.cbsnews.com/video/storm-water-management-dutch-solution-henk-ovink-hurricane-damage-60-minutes/ So back to H4WP...the park itself is surprisingly well maintained and very clean esp for the amount of traffic it sees daily. When the weather is nice there are tons of activities and events held here...sometimes on a cool summer morning you may witness a wedding! There is a non-profit that works to main the park. Check it out here http://www.h4wpc.org/ Membership for an individual is $25 and in my opinion its a cheap way of supporting this place. You can go on their website and check out all the events https://beltline.org/parks/historic-fourth-ward-park Here are the addresses for the features for the park 665 North Ave NE - Northern Entrance 695 Morgan St. NE - Clear Creek Basin access 693 Rankin St. NE - Playground 664 Angier Ave. NE - Splashpad 670 Angier Ave. NE - Restroom, Pump and Electrical Access 700 Ralph McGill Ave NE - Southern Entrance 830 Willoughby Way NE - Skate Park & Activity Field If you are in the area....worth a visit....

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday morning and it was a great experience. For being in a popular urban part of town, parking was easy not too far away and the park was full, but not crowded. There is something for every age here, including a splash pad (bring a change of clothes). The crowd was good with many biking and/or walking there. My 4 year old daughter's favorite was the monkey bars that were low to the ground so if you fell, it was not a long fall. She could also put her tippy toes down mid-climb if she needed a "crutch" to get her across. Additionally, the yellow cage that spins is great because so many kids can fit in there and it is a good opportunity for kids to play with one another. It is hard to spin when there are tons of kids in there though.

Yelp
One of my favorite memories in Atlanta! My daughter and I rented scooters and drove around fourth ward we had so much fun, so many great shops and restaurants along the way I would love to go back again soon!

Yelp
Historic Fourth Ward Park is just a perfect park for festivals. It has a lot of open spaces, long walking trails, nice kept bushes and beautiful ponds. Perfect to stroll around, walk, chill with a special someone or just get away from everyday life.
google avatar

Ashlye B.

Yelp
This park is great because it's on the Atlanta Beltline and also conveniently located across from Ponce City Market. The parking is easy either a lot or in the Two Urban licks parking. Which is free valet. I have been to this park on many occasions for festivals and food trucks. It's always clean and crowded with locals or bikers. Also there are benches spread around the trail so you can have a seat and just enjoy the moment!! Restaurants are located behind the park as well so you can walk.
google avatar

Yelp
I see so many engagement shoots here! It really is a pretty little park, even though it is a little small. It connects to the Beltline and is kind of between Krog Street Market and Ponce City Market. My friend lived nearby so we parked at her place and walked to Ponce City Market. She mentioned we could walk through this park for a more "scenic route." The park is small enough that you can basically see one end to the other. The water was a little murky when we walked through, most likely thanks to all the recent rain. Thank god for the clear skies that day! The waterfall area makes for a picturesque background, too. There's lots of green for chasing your dog around, laying out or throwing a frisbee. This is definitely a great throughway to pass by while in the Old Fourth Ward area.
google avatar

Ericka H.

Yelp
My clients love doing photoshoots here! This park is such a small, beautiful gem! The perfect place to go for a stroll with your family or a run with your dog. There is street parking and a reasonably priced parking deck right beside the park. Looking forward to capturing some summer memories there! :)

Yelp
Very nice park. I do photography there and its wonderful. The water fountain and fall are both off though, im guessing because summers over.

Yelp
I never heard or knew about Historic Fourth Ward Park. I'm OTP all the way. Even though I grew up in Dekalb, it's slightly OTP where I lived. My daughter loves animals and there was a dog festival, PAW 50th year anniversary celebration at Historic Fourth Ward Park. My co-worker told me about the park and it's right by where he used to live. I later found out about how the park is fairly new and got educated about Ponce City close by and the beltline. Looking through Yelp pictures, I was very impress with Historic Fourth Ward Park. It's gorgeous. I couldn't wait to go. There is free parking at the park. Since there were two festivals going on the same time when we went, it was hard to find a parking spot but managed to find one. It seems like the park mainly holds a lot of events and is very pet and kid friendly. If you're looking for a beautiful scroll and to take selfies, come here. It's a breath of fresh air. It's so beautiful. If you're thinking about getting your steps on, you still can. You just won't get a lot of it. Go on the beltline instead. If there is no festivals and you're hungry, go to Ponce City Market. I will definitely come back again.
google avatar

Doug G.

Yelp
It's a park! Why are you reading about a park right now? Is it gorgeous outside? Yes? If so, get to this park right now! Situated next to PCM and one of the mouthways into the Beltline, this little park area is great for many things from drone flying to outdoor yoga on a fine day. Its beautiful, calm and situated perfectly amongst the city streets...which means, it deserves a visit from all who call ATL home.

Chesty P.

Yelp
Atlanta's Historic Fourth Ward Park starts in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward behind Ponce City Market and stretches South to Freedom Parkway and the Carter Center. The central amenity of the park is a large stormwater retention pond. The park is one of the first completed urban park elements of the Atlanta Beltline project. It's a 17 acre park with a skate park and amphitheater. That's what brought me to the park on a Sunday afternoon. I came to check out the MLS All-Star Concert that featured 2 Chainz. Parking was easy to find along the many streets surrounding the park, most being free just pay attention to the signs and stay out of reserved neighborhood spots. The concert was a lot of fun and the park was a great backdrop to have it, would definitely come back to this amphitheater.
google avatar

Ebonie P.

Yelp
04W Park is one of the most beautiful parks in the city! There is a huge pond with ducks, waterfalls, and a walking trail with several bridges. There is also a large amphitheater for events. On one end of the park there is a spray ground for the kids and a nice sized playground with some cool swings. The park is walking distance to Ponce City Market....where you can grab some great food and drinks!

Yelp
Wow, I was really amazed by this park. Well, I think it has a lot to do with the fact that it took the place of whatever the black hole of broken up concrete and whatever else crap was back here behind the (dungeon like) Masquerade. I would've never known it was here except for the fact that I decided to take that side road when leaving the Masq after a late concert this past winter/ spring? not sure. It used to be a dead end, so i thought I'd turn around, much to my surprise it continued on.. to a street.. to a new nicely paved street.... to HOLY SHIT WHAT IS THAT? IS THAT A PARK? IS THAT A POND? I almost ran off the road. Yes, I'd read in Creative loafing that there was a park planned in the area a while back, and mentally bookmarked it. Little did I know how beautiful and well laid out it would be. I did notice that the area is surrounded by many stylish lofts. Honestly I still haven't got out of my car to walk in it, I've just been driving thru on purpose to admire it. I've even gone out of my way going home to take the detour thru/ next to the park. I wish I had a dog to walk here. Maybe I'll kidnap my friend's dog to come here. Giggity. ...FYI I recently successfully kidnapped my friend and her dog to come here. *I don't wanna write a complete update. lazy* Ok they came willingly, I just wanted to sound BA. We were blown away. I don't like to use extreme words, but here goes a few to describe this park: Love. Amazing. Awesome. F***ing Cool. Beautiful. Love again. The dog ran around on the field. Then we went to the bathroom, which is a green cottage looking thing. My friend said it reminded her of a Japanese garden she saw when studying abroad. There are fountains for kids to play in. THEN there's the big-ass awesome fountain in the pond that kicks ass. I can't even keep describing it. Its just awesome. Go check it out.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite parks in the city of Atlanta. It's located right across from Ponce city market on the north Ave side or Ralph Magill blvd. And easily accessible to Marta Canter Park Station. Limited on street parking is available on Dallas Street. What makes this park unique is there open spaces, a ampletheater and access to the beltline. There's also a skate park and ground water retention pond. There's also alot events weekly. Like free yoga and aerobics classes at the skatepark. Sunrise church service during holidays. Festivals and Open sports activities. All events are posted on their website. Overall its a good park for active people who are into sports and festivals. The easy accent to the beltline and Ponce city market make the park to go during the weekends and summer time.

Yelp
I'm in love with this park! It gives you access to the awesomest running trail in Atlanta - The Beltine! If you're a runner, especially long distance, then you will love this trail because it has miles of trails and there are mile markers too! (Last mile sign I saw was 10.25 miles but I know it goes further.) Where this park intersects with the Beltline, you can take a left and head to Piedmont Park and run around Piedmont or take a right and it was take you to Inman and beyond. I took a left towards Piedmont and saw some awesome views of the Atlanta skyline. A running trail with a skyline view!?! Shut up! Yes! Go!

Yelp
Just next to PMC: the crowds in the food court are so overwhelmed?? the lines waiting for those fancy eateries are so crazy?? why not study their menu and called to make To-Go orders and just picnic in the park?? It's getting warmer! Below is the comment about ATL Brunch Fest on March 5th Saturday, maybe not necessarily related to the park tho. I came exact time to get in! The general entrance tickets ($19 bought online) allow you get in 12pm sharp (tones of VIPs got 1 or 2 hours advance) it includes a food & a drink (the stands crossed off the "D" & "F" on your bracelet, still don't get it how they gonna track down the sales and profit...or ppl don't wanna drink but only wanna some food??) The only disappointing part is the biz is CASH ONLY, almost every item is $3 marked...I don't get it why not just sell the entrance ticket for $12-$15 bucks and let ppl buy food tickets in bulk and use credit cards?

Yelp
This is shaping up to be a beautiful park with an awesome view! They're still constructing the part closest to North Avenue, so the current access is primarily from Ralph McGill. In fact, if you're driving on North Avenue, I bet you wouldn't even know this park is here. We entered from Ralph McGill, and ran through the rolling ramps of the "wildflower meadow" rather than taking the Grand Stair. There is a bright and shiny new playground with some alternate surface that softer than concrete. There are bathrooms! Then there's the fanciest water retention pond that I've seen in a while, complete with a fountain and a waterfall to keep the water circulating. There's a set of amphitheater like tiers on the south side with plenty of winding walkways for running and stairs up and down. On the upper path, there's a rocky "stream" bed that allows the water to flow and creates some interest and whimsy. They're still working on the "event lawn" so the space between the retention pond and North Ave is completely blocked for construction. They've posted signs with renderings of what the area should look like when complete. I look forward to running through again in the future. #Yelp365 - 296/365

Yelp
Okay, truthfully, I haven't personally walked about the park, though I am sure I will be back soon. I saw the park on the BeltLine Tour FYLA (which was surprisingly fun and informative, thanks, Kathleen!). I was taken aback when we drove by the park and I went into Asian tourist mode and started snapping photos with my battery-drained phone. Luckily, I anticipated taking more pictures than would be prudent, so I had my two spare batteries that I take with me on travels, to ensure that I can use GPS and take pictures to my heart's delight, without having to fervently seek an outlet to charge up my mobile device. Anyway, this park is a wonderful example of beautiful urban green space design. My sister is studying landscape architecture at UGA and I bet my next time here will be with her.

Yelp
This park is right in my backyard...actually, this park IS my backyard. My dog, Olive and I do not mind sharing it with the rest of ATL though. Located right on the beltline, this park offers countless picnic spots, plenty of strollable turf, and a lovely fountain adorned pond. The Historic Fourth Ward Park Conservancy hosts different events and activities at the park throughout the year, such as the annual Spring Fling (in May), but visiting on any given day is a treat. You wont see crowds as large as the ones at Piedmont Park but there are still plenty of park goers if people watching is your thing. This is a great addition to the city- check it out!

Yelp
TLDR: Beautiful park in Old Fourth Ward that provides a great spot for walking, exercising, and many different events. I think the Fourth Ward Park is one of the best outdoor places that Atlanta has to offer. It's a great space for the residents of Atlanta and surrounding areas to get outside and be active. It's also a convenient spot for many events, including concerts, food festivals, 5Ks, and more. With its location right next to the Eastside BeltLine and just across the street from Ponce City Market, this is a great spot to visit, especially if you're visiting Atlanta for the first time. At the Fourth Ward Park, you'll see many people walking their dogs and playing with them off leash on the big field. You'll also see groups exercising by the amphitheater utilizing steps in a "boot camp" like set up. You'll see many kids making great use of the Spraygrounds splash pad in the summer time to cool down. One of the main attractions is the stormwater retention pond, which actually looks a lot more aesthetically pleasing than it sounds. It has a couple of fountains and waterfalls, and you're more than likely going to see at least a couple people having photoshoots around the pond. The other main attraction would be the skatepark, which many people make good use of. On the weekends, there's a good chance, there will be some type of event happening on the big field. Most recently, there was the MLS All Star Game weekend activities, which included a concert. Of course, there are many other types of events that happen here, and one of my personal favorite events at the park is the Taste of Atlanta food festival. While there is no parking lot available if you do happen to drive here, you can always park on the side streets surrounding the park. Your best bet will probably be on Ralph McGill, Ashley, Garden Park, or Angier. Otherwise, you can always get here by using the Eastside BeltLine. Overall, this is a gem for the city of Atlanta and a great way to be outdoors.

Yelp
So finding the playground/splash pad was a little tricky due to contstruction blocking the road that Google Maps told me to take there. Once we found the playground, there was ample parking on the street. The playground is great! It is so different from othe playgrounds visited ITP and OTP. They really helped the kids use their imagination. I was a little confused by some of the play equipment, but that was ok. The playground is on rubber mats, which is nice because it would be a softer fall. However, the rubber got REALLY hot in the sun and started to smell. If a poor child took off their shoes, they could easily get burned. Right next to the playground is the water splash pad. They have buckets that dummp water on the kids and fountains that splash up. There is a good amount of seating around the outside of it which is nice. However, there is no shade so I would suggest going earlier in the day. The restrooms are located between the splashpad area and the playground, which is great. My only concern is the easy access for people who may be there for "other" reasons. A child could easily be taken from the playground/splashpad if their parents are not keeping an eye on them. However, as a parent, it is my job to watch my children at all times. We will definitely go back to this park since parking is free and it was not super busy.

Yelp
If you are looking for a nice place to bring your kids, walk around the lake, take a run (exercise), have a picnic, or take some amazing seasonal pictures, then Historic Fourth Ward Park is for you. I love walking around this body of water because I can stop and see some of the sea life. There are turtles, a variety of fish, and ducks. There are rails separating people from the body of water, so no one will fall in. Also, if you want a great place to shoot pictures, the scenery will work well with you. Exercise wise, the park is connected to a bike/running trail and you could even run around the lake. There is a large bed of grass at top of the second flight of stairs that is optimal for picnics. You can eat and watch your kids play.

Yelp
I absolutely love this gem . I come here to run and take my child to the park . I don't like that sometimes strange men that are most likely homeless seem to find their way into the children's area. Like really dude plenty of other places to go sit and stare . But , anyway this place is so beautiful . I wouldn't recommend coming here on the 4th of July . I did it yesterday and it was a complete waste of time . Please start the fireworks

Yelp
I love this park!!!!!!! I ride my scooter through it every morning to get to work. I understand ridding a scooter makes you look like a easy target to get mugged or robbed but this park is so nice I feel completely safe. Everything from the pond to the jogging trails to the walking paths and the kids park it's just super fun. I did step in dog poop the other day, that was incredibly disappointing, But that's the fault of the dog owner not the park but if I was rating that dog owners i would give them 1star.

Yelp
This park a most of the things to offer - great play area, water play, walking options around the park, and the location. It's just that since it's so close to downtown it's not the safest park you can take your kids to: it attracts mixed crowd and has so many entry/exits that you will have to stay close to your kids and belongings.

Yelp
This park is VERY beautiful!!! Filled with a lot of wildlife. Saw so many turtles in the lake from adults to babies! There is also a big separate area for children to run around in the water or go on the playground. I would definitely come back to this park!

Yelp
Ah, the time, energy, and resources that was put into this place really shows. The playground is state of the art and even makes adults drool. I love the multiple layers and elevations provide amazing views even to downtown. Made-made rock stream leads to the pond below. Great open spaces provide areas for cook outs, family portraits. Throughly loved this place.

Yelp
I saw a Facebook post for free yoga at 7pm hosted by King of Pops and asked a girlfriend who lives near the park to join me. Since she knew the area pretty well we were able to find parking locally on the street as she knew that the park lot may present more of a challenge. This park is inconspicuous but genius. It is a concrete city response to a playful place. There was childrens splash pad, and a man made lake water feature with a fountain in the middle that had a trail winding throughout the park. There were several places to rent these blue bicycles which next time I will definitely take advantage of. So many people on tje beltway biking and skating and walking their dogs. The cool part was when I saw that the beltway had many restaurants along the way, one of my favorite was Two Urban Licks. I had only been there in the evening so never noticed the beautiful park behind it as the skyline at night is what captivates you from the balcony. I would be remiss if I don't mention the city skyline. Its pretty nice to see how well nature mixes with a city backdrop. There were all types of people there. I would say that may have been my favorite reason to go. Walking distance from Ponce City market you can really make a day or afternoon of it and have so many thinhs to do. There was also a world class skate park that was pretty popular. There were a few work outs being hosted there but I was told yoga would be every Sunday at 7pm. There may have been over 100 people and it was nice. I'm definitely going back with the family.

Yelp
Great Park with great events! Always well maintained grass, quality side walks, and amazing views. I have only seen 1 person that looked questionable in the park.

Yelp
A fine example of urban improvement. Not only is this an asthetically pleasing bit of land now, but an excellent host to neighborhoods events, such as festivals. The skate park is pretty groovy, too. Not that I skate.

Yelp
This is easily the most unique park I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. Tons of personality and, somehow, remains pretty hidden to the naked eye if you're driving by too swiftly on North Ave or adjacent roads. Probably the coolest playground I've ever seen. There's some seriously cool equipment to play on, a spashpad, and it's all away from the road and kept up with well. Another huge plus are the public restrooms nearby. The holy grail of this park is the lower portion where all of the water and fountain happens to be. I love it. It's not really put on display where most parks may house something of it's nature, but rather it is below the street level which beckons for exploration. I love that. It makes you feel like you're in a quarry of sorts. Pretty gnarly. The fields at the park are awesome, too. Great for frisbee or other sports. With easy accessibility to the BeltLine (up north and around some small streets), it's now one of my favorite spots to enjoy outside.

Yelp
Heck yes. I'm all for any kind of greenspace, especially when it goes in to a neighborhood like this. I was amazed when I drove down North Ave the other day and saw the completed section of the park all illuminated and pretty. No more nasty parking lot (well, there's one right next to it)... instead loving walking paths, trees that will soon be big and lovely, and just an awesome place to spend some time in the sun. More please!

Yelp
There are plenty of reviews remarking on how beautiful this park is and how enjoyable your visit will be, feel free to peruse them. Id like to offer you a different perspective. Id like to share how miserable of a time you can have at this park. It was obviously designed by a sadistic workout freak trying to get off on the suffering of wide-eyed morons like myself who have forgotten how much stair training sucks!! Today, I took a break from riding my bike to enjoy the weather and go for a run. O4WP was my plan. My run over is just shy a mile, it was a nice warm up. Did a couple laps around the park when set before me was a staircase. **IDEA!!! Trainer- Smainer!! I dont need to pay someone to "motivate" me!! I can do this!!** Run up the first two sets no problem, okay, one more. I reach the "top." (a 4th flight of stairs is set several yards back and out of sight from the bottom.) Holy flubber nuggets!... what?! Where did that come from!? I felt a small sense of achievement once I got to the top. Back down? Easy Peasy! 2nd run up the stairs... as I near the top of the third staircase I begin cursing my ability to make sound decisions. 3rd run up the stairs... "Hey uhh, I'm not feeling so well, seriously guys, my skin hurts" -J. Portnoy. [I hate my life. This sucks! Who would do this?] You genius! As a rest, I jog down the ramp instead of taking the stairs down. I was trying to prolong the inevitable climb back up. 4th run up stairs... [I hate you Helena. Dont ever ask me any favors... EVER! When you least expect or want it, Im going to make you fart and burp at the same time to get you back!!] 5th then 6th set of stairs then down ramp and back around. [Keep this up Im going to make you throw up then youll have to run home with vomit all over you... you remember college dont you? I can make it happen!!] Recognizing I was not feeling all too well I tried exercises that wouldnt devour my soul. Set one: 30 step ups (15 each leg) 2 passes of walking one-legged lunges across the base of the staircase 20 standing squats 10 side step up leg lifts (each leg) 5 double leg jump ups ...Did this three more times. I turn and look up at the stairs...[Come on! Just one more!!] Eff that freakalicious! Im going home!! I tried jogging home but at this point I think I was crawling across North Ave. Got home did my abs, stretched, showered, then proceeded to negate all that fine work and gorged on fatty carbs!! Teehee!! That was the worst most miserably awesome work out Ive had in YEARS!!! Soooo, whos with me tomorrow!? =)

Yelp
Yesterday was the first time I visited the park. It takes a very special occasion to get me out and my girlfriend's birthday was the perfect occasion for it. Smack dab in the middle of hipster-central in between Masquerade, lies the park. Its was amazing and very scenic. There is a nice pond where you can feed ducks, an interesting staggered stairway paved with grass, and plenty of walking paths. Whether looking for a place to do some good ole reflecting or test out your skating skills or playing ball, you can definitely feed your outdoor needs at this park. Glad to finally see byproduct of the Beltline Project. Nice job City of Atlanta for investing in this community and city.

Yelp
Once again - I wish I could give 3.5 stars but we'll go with 4. We've visited this playground a handful of times. I like the playground equipment for the most part. It's nicely illuminated. I was excited to see that they had bathroom but a bit disappointed to see that they were closed during the winter. On the weekend the playground it overrun with kids. It's not really a bad thing but not a great thing either when you have a 2 year old. So many of the kids are older you worry about little ones getting run over. A lot of the bigger kids don't really stay to the "older" side of the playground. That's not the fault of the park but I do wish that the signage was a bit bigger so that maybe parents would have a better sense of appropriate ages. I know that may sound unnecessary but the "younger" equipment doesn't really look like it's just for toddlers. One other caveat - it is in the city. We are city people, we live in the city. And, I think this goes a long way to improving the area. But, nevertheless, when I got out of my car last time I walked over a used condom. It doesn't feel unsafe or anything like that but I think it is a fair thing to note. Anyways, just my opinion but I'm glad to see some green space and places for kids in that neighborhood.

Yelp
This park is absolutely gorgeous, in pictures and even more-so in person. It's fairly hidden from the road and even from the BeltLine if you're not careful. HISTORY TIME! This is due to the fact that it was constructed to not only be a patch of greenspace for people to gather and play, but also as a reservoir for stormwater. Years and years ago, when huge downpours pelted Atlanta, stormwater would pool destroying infrastructure and flooding the first floor of many surrounding buildings, causing expensive damage. An incredible example of urban planning meets form and function. I also love love love that they incorporated sustainable features to the park. Its interesting design and features (uhh amphitheater, skatepark and splash-pad!) make this one of my favorite parks in all of Atlanta.

Yelp
This is SUCH a great park. I really, really enjoy walking the puppy over there. The best part of the park is that you can sit outside and listen to the band that's playing at the Masquarade... sometimes that's a good thing and sometimes that's a bad thing. ;) The best part is the Splash Pond. I keep forgetting about it so every time we walk over there and I'm in regular clothes I get bummed out. But no more - I plan to check it out next weekend in the bathing suit. Looking for something funny? Read the rules for the Splash Pond - fecal emergency. Yup, I said it. Great kids sections too - there are 2, one near the skate park and one just behind AMLI Old 4th Ward. The skate park is a little far off from where the main part is but it's still worth it to get over there - especially with all the work they are doing right now.

Yelp
Would it be too much for me to say I want to marry the Beltline? Lahve, lahve, lahve it and this park, which is saying a lot for someone who would rather be pushed in a wheelbarrow than walking in the hot Georgia sun. Please show me where to donate and raise my taxes. I want more stuff like this in Atlanta and I'll gladly help pay for it. On any afternoon this place is full of energy and it gets lots of use. Edward L. and I were meandering around yesterday and you could smell wildflowers throughout.

Yelp
This place is fun, clean, and beautiful. The south side has a splash pad for the kids and a great playground that is well-lit for late-night fun. The middle has a big sunken pond with a fountain, a couple waterfalls, and a nice amphitheater for groups/events. And now that the grass is greening up on the newest north side of the park, it's a great sunny open area. I see a lot of walkers, runners, families, frisbee-throwers, and most-recently remote-control airplane flyers. On the other hand, it's still no Piedmont Park. Even on the wide-open north side of the park, you don't get that same sense of total retreat from the surrounding urban area (with a big parking lot, Ponce City Market, and the Masquerade surrounding you). Still, it's a great amenity for the neighborhood.
