HITO YATAI

Early celebration for my brother’s birthday and we wanted a good Japanese place that’s not too far. Found this new place and read several good reviews from Yelp elites. We decided to try it. We had the okonomiyaki and it was okay. Think my brother could almost make it just as good lol. The premium sashimi was not cheap - 15 pieces for $55, but it was worth it. My mom loved the quality and taste. It seemed that the Dream Fish was popular so we ordered that one, but I did not think it was special. I liked the Red & White roll much better with blue fin tuna. We were still a bit hungry so we got the mixed tempura. It was perfectly fried. I also got a Hokkaido uni and Hokkaido scallop. They were delicious. I must say - their nigiri is on point. That’s what I normally would focus on, but my mom likes rolls and other items. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and taste at this place. Think the sushi chef and one of the servers were Japanese. Not very affordable and not a lot in quantity, but the taste was excellent. I will certainly be back to taste other items.

On our recent visit, we indulged in eight different selections—more than we’ve ever ordered anywhere else—and savored every bite. Standouts included the Red & White Roll, Spicy Tuna Pokémon, Snow White Roll, and the perfectly Grilled Black Cod, each dish offering its own unique expression of freshness and balance. This is not just a meal—it’s an experience to be remembered. For sushi enthusiasts seeking authenticity, creativity, and soul in every plate, this hidden treasure is an absolute must-visit.

I wish I could give 10 stars for atmosphere, service, and food. Chef Cam’s delivery and expertise of his craft was unmatched — who knew such a gem exists right here off Madison Ave. Oh, and ask if they have Truffle! Sourced wild and locally from The King’s Bolete.

Hito Yatai is an exceptional Japanese restaurant and a culinary gem. The location is easy to find with ample parking in the lot. Even during peak hours, I was seated promptly. The ambiance is lively and cozy, creating an intimate setting for conversations. The service is friendly, attentive, and accommodating. I ordered chawanmushi, a unique hot egg custard soup with shrimp, fish, and mushrooms. It was a delightful surprise and a new culinary experience for me. I also tried the mixed tempura, which was superb. The variety of vegetables used and the crispy perfection of the fried batter made it the best tempura I’ve ever had. The appetizer portion was generous. My hot matcha tea arrived quickly and my cup was kept filled throughout the meal. Hito Yatai is an amazing place to enjoy a delicious Japanese meal and I highly recommend it.

I love coming here! Its a small place but the food is soo yummy! We love the dragon and the super spicy roll! The chefs specials are always just so 👌 and the mini don, I think that's what it's called, I literally dream about it!!

A hidden gem for sushi foodies. This restaurant is tucked away like a Carmichael pearl waiting to be discovered. I’d liken Hito Yatai as a place for those who crave not just food, but an experience. After more than five visits, including an omakase, it’s clear this is not your typical takeout sushi joint—this is a place for craftsmanship. Take the “Mini Don,” for example: a bowl of delicate textures and flavors where the briny pop of ikura and the creamy richness of uni come together like a fleeting indulgence. Each bite feels luxurious, leaving you wishing it lingered just a bit longer. The iwashi nigiri, with its unctuous sardine and velvety oiliness, is transformed into something truly decadent. I’ve had the suzuki (sea bass), hirame (flounder), aged chutoro, and blue fin tuna nigiri—lots of varied offerings for fish. For those less inclined toward raw fish, the “Osaka-style” okonomiyaki, a hearty cabbage pancake, is comforting and savory. From tempura to sashimi, I’ve enjoyed the thoughtfulness of my meals at Hito Yatai. Even the presentation feels elevated. The assortment of physical plates feel like a kaleidoscope of ceramic and glass styles—very artful. Speaking of tempura, the chrysanthemum tempura deserves its own applause: light and airy, yet a crunch that gives way to a floral clover-like flavor. It’s served with a dashi dipping sauce (though I personally prefer a splash of soy for a stronger kick). One of the restaurant’s greatest charms for me has been the unprinted menu—conversations, not paper, guide your choices. I’ve spoken about my cravings with Chef Cam who will craft something from the stock of fish and offerings. This approach fosters a sense of trust and anticipation—every visit feels personal and thoughtfully tailored. While this is not the place for those seeking volume-focused sushi (e.g., AYCE), every bite reflects artistry and quality that enthusiasts will appreciate. The portions invite you to savor the extraordinary flavors. The staff are dedicated to authenticity and freshness. If you’re a foodie who finds joy in the subtleties of higher-quality sushi and a curated dining experience, I recommend visiting Hito Yatai.

Service was ok. The roll we got was very good. Good rice to filling ratio and made well. I enjoyed the mixed tempura as they used interesting vegetables like okra.Tasty, crispy, light batter. Could have been served hotter though. The only thing that was absolutely terrible was the $12 ribeye skewer. Worst I’ve ever tasted. Cold, old, tough, terrible marinade.

I’ve been wanting to try this sushi restaurant for awhile and am glad I finally stopped by. The inside is so adorable and quaint. The service was attentive, warm, and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious. I loved the Hokkaido roll and my friend ordered a customized spicy scallop roll and that was delicious as well. This will be my new sushi spot!

Loved it! Generous portions of Hamachi and Maguro. Rolls are delicious. Will definitely return, a gem in the Citrus Heights area.

Impressed with the menu and dinner specials. There is WAY better than average sushi at Hito. The quality of fish stands out and the menu options are very traditional which I appreciate. It's nice not seeing mayonnaise smothered over ridiculously named rolls so if that's your jam go elsewhere. Very kind service, to include a young and ambitious owner. It's usually crowded and the kitchen can get backed up but this can happen. I guess my point is to come with patience and kindness. We've also gone for omakase which wasn't much to rave about, however I would return to choose my own dinner from their menu.

PORTIONS: filling and hearty PRICE: appropriate for quality of food, but maybe not service? SERVICE: omakase - needs work. Started off badly with no introduction or explanation about the service. I thought the man in front of us was a sous chef waiting for our chef to return because he kept staring at the door and not saying anything. Turns out he was our chef. There was no menu so we didn't know how many courses there were or what was being prepared. When I made the reservation , they DID ask about allergies, but did NOT ask about preferences. Multiple times during the evening the chef made us wonder what was happening, how long the next preparation would take or where he went off to. It would've been helpful to have a printed menu or at least to say at the beginning how many courses there will be, how long each takes, why there's a delay, and generally to communicate. AMBIANCE: clean and open FLAVORS: Omakase (10/5) flavors were great! Cannot complain about the food it was amazing! BONUS TIP: parking private lot, on the corner

2nd time being here but had to get take out due to holiday events! The food never disappoint! Everyone is nice definitely a nicer goto place !

Overall the food is 3.5 star but service was just so so.. ... felt the service was pretty slow when we were the first people there and then another couple show up. Server asked me if I wanted tea, I assumed that it was free but unfortunately not..and funny enough that I didn't see hot tea in their menu. The food were good, some was better than others. The beef tendon skewers were very good! Very savory and tender. Okonomiyaki- delicious, very authentic Hatai- good/ fresh hamachi Hokkaido- looks plain but it was good. The tempura scallops was very fresh 5 pieces nigiri- I will skip this. The 5 pieces of fish aren't that special to cost $5 a piece except the chutoro. The chutoro had some chewiness 7 pieces sashimi- good and worth the $25 3 trio tuna- Alamo, chutoro and Otoro... all good. Again, the chutoro was a little chewy and had like what people call "sinew" I notice that the "sushi chef" maybe is inexperience. Notice the cuts were somehow uneven, the cuts they do on the Akami and chutoro was a little weird.. probably that's what I tasted the sinew (chewiness)

Went for lunch, tried some of the nigiri specials, shrimp tempura and a roll. Overall- very good. Definitely enjoyed every bite, the tempura was light and crisp, with the shrimp juicy. All the nigiri was tasty, as was the roll. I really appreciated the time the hostess spent explaining the different fish, helped me appreciate everything more. Service was good and unobtrusive, refills on water and hot tea with no problem. Overall ambiance good, quieter during lunch than dinner, which I enjoyed. Will be going back for more.

If you want exotic fish, octopus prepared differently than normal, or what's allegedly traditional Japanese cooked foods (there were 3 tables of older Japanese patrons so it must be legitimate Japanese small cooked dishes), and you can't wait to pay a lofty price for it, come here. The service on both visits was polite at the tables. Their voices are extremely low and the place is loud. I wanted to dine at the bar, but yesterday they didn't answer the phone because they were too busy. I arrived tonight to be told the two remaining seats were reserved. But they were empty for most of my dining period. They need to resolve their reservation system problem and set up something online. The decor is simple and plain. I like that. The tables feel sticky and gross. They seem to be real wood, treated, but the protective coat is replaced with stickiness from cleaning solvents. It's also unappealing that the savory custard comes with a wooden spoon to eat it. Not enjoyable to eat with. Also my oysters had some shell fragments. Thankfully, I've learned to eat most meat/shelled proteins slowly and carefully. Prior visit late September 2023 the dream fish roll was twice the size as it was tonight. Very disappointing. The nigiri always has liquid on them and/or are torched. I decided to convey no torch and no ponzu sauce, but if it's not smokey tasting, I'll try the liquid on the nigiri. It was nonsense. Do you put A-1 Sauce on a good cut of steak? No. I want my fish pure, clean, delicious. And for the hefty price I paid, it would have been nice if there was a small dollop of pickled wasabe. I appreciate the polite service, but it's been slow for me both visits and the food isn't that spectacular and the sticky tables are gross. Sadly, I don't believe I'll be returning.

When Shige Sushi closed down we didn't really expect there to be a worthy successor, but guess what? Hito Yatai is definitely that worthy successor. We finally managed to visit last night and we were thoroughly impressed. The interior has been redone in a suitably minimalist style. Very clean and orderly and pleasing to the eye. The service is very friendly and personable. We were told more than once that we were appreciated which felt nice. The real star is the food. We ordered sunomono, veggie tempura, the Hokkaido roll and a special roll (Red and White roll). The sunomono was delicately seasoned and the shrimp were very fresh and sweet. So good. The veggie tempura was nice and crisp and included a couple of unusual ingredients - okra and parsley - which we really enjoyed. The flavors of the two rolls were amazing. No goopy sweet sauces on these, just fresh ingredients expertly prepared and served. We definitely recommend the Hokkaido roll (it's on the regular menu) and I would definitely trust the chef's specials based on last night's experience. This will be our go-to when we want excellent sushi.

We finally got to stop by to try this place. They are only open a few hours for dinner. They have nice specials, including some authentic okonomiyaki. Their beef tendon skewers was very delicious. The Hakkaido roll was pretty good too.

The service is way too slow. Food is fine. I was very excited to get chawanmushi. The ingredients are not as I expected for the price.

The food is amazing Im crying hard af The Okonomiyaki and the Chawanmushi are the must have items for me, and their Tamagoyaki is really good too! The best Japanese restaurant in Sacramento in my opinion.

I've been here a couple of times now and can confidently say it'll be one of the sushi spots I have in rotation. The remodel upon change of ownership is nice. I did wish they did not have the lights on so bright as all that artificial blue light messes with the circadian rhythm. I prefer restaurants with a bit of a dimmer setting. However, sitting at the bar helps a little bit with that problem. Fish here imo is on the more fresh side. It is buttery and delicious. I've had sushi where I can taste the ice in the fish and have since been on the search for restaurants that care more about quality than making a large profit. The dream roll was alright. I would probably never order it again. I love the rainbow roll. I've gotten that one every single time. Chu toro and negitoro is a must try here. The Yatai roll was good and what caught me by surprise was the Dragon roll. I normally do not like unagi or dragon rolls for that matter but the way they torched and did just a thin layer of unagi was the ticket! The tonkatsu was a really thick cut of meat and surprisingly cooked tender. We did wish the crust was a bit crispier. Chicken teriyaki was just alright. I'd pick tonkatsu over the teriyaki for sure. Also before I forget, the wagyu asparagus is so delish! Another dish we order each time. Overall, I am happy to have found another small business to support and can't wait to try the rest of the menu this coming year.

Fine dining. Food is spetacular. Its pricey but you are paying your worth. Food is high class. I definitely will eat here again. :)

Best Sushi Place in Mid Valley. Couldn't imagine this sushi place have the most traditional ways to serve sushi and dinner plate. No questions ask on food quality, choices of fish and way of the food presentation and serve. The chef is professional and friendly! Very decent price you couldn't find it anywhere in Mid Valley or Bay Area. Variety of special dish and the kitchen food will surprise you! The also serve omakase with reservation and I will definitely try next time! Tonkatsu and Tempura are great too

First time here! We love this place! The food was amazing! We ordered a lot of dishes and none did not disappoint! The staff are nice and service was great! Also must try the dessert. Purple Yam, chocolate and green tea! Yummy! Definitely recommend this place!

Food and service were great! All the staff was so welcoming and kind. i love the ambiance. I'd say it's a cozy, intimate restaurant. Perfect for a date night. Like the restaurant, the portions are small but quality is top notch! We got the sashimi platter and rainbow roll with a bottle of saki. It enough to get us full. Can't wait to go back.

Hito Yatai is a hidden gem in Sacramento. My friend recommended this place so we met for dinner. As we entered, we were greeted and welcomed so warmly with kindness. The interior is clean, modern yet contemporary. The menu is straightforward which shows more focus on the quality of your food more than the amount of selections available. They also have daily specials and their selection of nigiri. We ordered the Croquette, Potstickers, Aged Chutoro, Dream Fish Roll, Rainbow Roll, Dragon Roll, Yatai Roll and Chicken Teriyaki. Every I listed was absolutely delicious. Every roll and dish ordered was unique in its own way and complimented each other. Service provided was amazing and helpful. The timing of each plate was perfect, not rushed at all. It showed the attention of detail of their culinary skills with each plate arriving to our table. If I could give Hito Yatai more than 5 Stars I would. I highly recommend this sushi restaurant. You won't regret it Thank you Chefs and Staff for a wonderful and beautiful experience!!

We tried this restaurant on recommendation from friends. We loved it. Our server was new and gaining experience so we were patient. We sat at the Sushi Bar and watched the chef prep his dishes. Our food was reasonably priced and very good. We'll be back.

At at Hito Yatai tonight with a group of 6. Very personal service. I liked the ambience ---the place has a pleasing vibe, supported by an apparently happy clientele ( as I looked around at other diners) and a simple but pleasing interior. Our food was excellent--from the okonomiyaki, to the beef skewers, to the trio of fish on a sushimi plate (very fresh, flavorful, tender), and the multiple rolls we ordered. We also shared a sake recommended by the owner---apparently a choice from a large sake tasting the owners attended. I was pleased, not that I'm a sake expert. I can't wait to return!

What a bummer!! Came in with my boyfriend for a much needed sushi date. A large party got seated before us, so we sat at the bar. It was cool to watch, but the sushi chefs seemed more invested in taking shots with the other patrons than getting our order ready. We ordered the potstickers appetizer, dream fish roll, and a 10 piece Nigiri. The dream fish came out, and I wasn't a fan of the flavor- so I sat and waited for the potsticker appetizer which never came out. We had to remind them three times, as they gave it to the patrons taking shots with them on accident, I also tried to order a different roll that they never made. Somehow paid $91 and left barely having eaten. My boyfriend did enjoy his nigiri. Super disappointing.

I loved the scallops, I loved the oysters. Everything was so fresh and delicious with the taste on point. Also try the wagyu ribeye skewers. The potstickers are perfect amount of meat to dough. Great experience and an exceptional meal. Definitely recommend.

The place was packed and even though they were a little short staffed, the staff were all calm, kind and friendly. The sushi was fresh and tasty. I will definitely be back

This is the best Japanese restaurant in Sacramento in my honest opinion. Cameron and Hoimei are specially trained, they carry special fish from Japan and across the world monthly, and their sushi rice is one of the best in the Sacramento region. Like others have said, it's basically like going to Kru without paying Kru prices. They would make Shige proud if he was still around in the area. People, come here if you want to experience an out-of-this-world gastric journey.

Best restaurant in Sacramento. We went in for our anniversary and we were treated lime royalty. The young and brilliant chef has great product and excellent flavors. Please try the omakase and let the chef handle the process.

If you're a raw sushi fan, this is the place for you! It's a small place so keep that in mind, but the food is just amazing. The rolls are wonderfully crafted and the fish is so fresh and delicious. Staff is knowledgeable and has always helped us pick out dishes if we weren't sure or wanted to try something new.

Food was delicious. We had the fish sushi, soft shell crab sushi, and some fish tempura. The dream fish sushi was an unexpected delight. Very savory. Service was excellent. The presentation of the side dishes was very good. Other customers were very happy with the food and service. I do wish the servings were bigger, but we will be back.

If you know Sacramento sushi then you might get my reference that this place reminds me of early days Kru before they got trendy and upscale. This place doesn't serve run of the mill frozen gyoza and the standard trio of salmon, maguro and hamachi. They have interesting choices of fresh fish of the day served nigiri style. I had nigiri of barracuda (kamasu), ocean trout and toro zuke. These were all served beautifully and tasted fresh! My husband had the dream roll which excluded rice, which was interesting. Our most favorite items of the night were the gyoza and Saikyo Yaki which is their miso black cod. The gyoza were clearly hand made with chunks of ingredients and perfectly cooked. By far, the most amazing star of the show was the Saikyo Yaki black cod. The fish was perfectly prepared, deliciously marinated and absolutely delicious. My husband said that this was the best fish dish he had ever had. We drank their iced green tea, which actually tasted like green tea. The ambience of the restaurant is casual. You'd fit in wearing a pair of shorts or jeans. The restaurant is also small, so I imagine as word spreads about this place we might start seeing it get pretty busy. I cannot recommend this little super star enough.

I've been Chef for over 30 yrs., having studied at The Culinary Institute of America, the top culinary school in the country, and one of the top in the world, where just about every celebrity chef has studied. My specialty is international cuisine, Japanese being in my top 5. So I have eaten at MANY sushi restaurants in my lifetime. At first, I was skeptical about the place. And knowing it had only been open 3 wks at the time didn't help either. Boy was I wrong. In short: Atmosphere: was greeted warmly and sincerely when entered. Very friendly. The restaurant was clean, bright, and tastefully decorated. Felt very "homey". Food: The sushi chef/owner, went to great lengths to describe and explain the dishes. The restaurant has an extensive selection of fresh fish, and it all looks fresh and brightly colored. Upon arrival, the dishes were masterfully presented and attractive. Each dish tasted fresh and flavorful. Some of the best I've ever had. Price: I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable their pricing was. 3 specialty rolls, teriyaki salmon, soup, salad, gyoza, tea & beer for $70, inc. tip. The same meal at one of the local "more visible" sushi restaurants, (Mikunis, etc.) would have been 25-30% more. This is now my go-to place for sushi in Sac. This is a hidden gem located in Carmichael neighborhood that is just recently opened. Their menu is specially curated with the most freshest fish available by each day so you will see different menu every now and then. When we tried our appetizer, string seaweed from southern side of Japan and sea bream sashimi w/ yuzu jelly, we already knew that we're gonna come back so soon. I was so tired of Mikuni type of American Japanese restaurants that serve sushi rolls drizzled with three different kinds of sweet sauces and fried stuff inside, and you know there are not many authentic Japanese restaurants in Sac area, I was so happy that I found this restaurant!!

Hm, the interior looks nice and but the service is way too slow. I ordered online and waited about 30 min before heading out to pick up since it said it should take 25 minutes or so. I showed up and they said it would take a few more minutes. It was about another 35 minutes before I finally picked up my 2 orders of Nigiri and a Maki roll lol. So total time about an hour. Observing around the place, there were about 5 tables with guests and 2 couples at the bar. Only one table was actually eating. The rest were still waiting for what I assume their food because none had menus on their table.

Excellent sushi and a nice relaxing dinner. I strongly recommend supporting this family owned business.

Started off great when they opened. As soon as they lost sushi chef Yoshi it became below average. The service has always been slow, but without good sushi, I won't be going back.

We drove 25 minutes to try this place out. We wont be coming to this restaurant again. Both the service and the cleanliness of the facility has not improved with nee ownership. A good sushi, restaurant, should not smell like fish when you first walk in. It appears that the owners made no changes to that. Secondly, we went and waited before the restaurant opened was greeted by the hostess sat down. Waited 20 minutes to be served in an empty restaurant, only for the hostess to wait on the table that came in after us. It's too bad. Because my children will prefer sushi over any other food, and we go tp Mikuni at least 6x a month. I was excited to try a more authentic sushi place. But this experience has rendered it impossible for us to return here.

Hands down most authentic and delicious sushi in the area. Great environment and service. Highly recommend!

************** Update ************** The owner called 05/03/2024 at 9:12am and 10:17am but I was unable to answer. She left a voicemail on the second call. At 12:38pm I called back and spoke with the owner. I told her that what really bothered me about the interaction yesterday is that she told me twice that she would call and resolve it but never did. I told her that all she had to say was that she was committed to providing the refund but unfortunately the restaurant is extremely busy so she will not be able to issue a refund until tomorrow morning. I would have been fine with that. I wouldn't have felt like we were deliberately cheated. I certainly wouldn't have left a 1 star review. She issued a refund via PayPal. She refunded the missing carpaccio, the missing sashimi 15pcs and the chicken teriyaki which had three big undercooked pieces; in addition to that, she provided a $20 courtesy credit. I appreciate the courtesy credit. It is going to take me a couple of days to shake off the bad feelings over this whole situation and probably a few months before we will try them again. Since family members enjoyed the rolls, the salmon teriyaki and the potato/egg salad in the teriyaki dishes I am updating the review from 1 star to 4 stars. ************** Original Review ************** My normal review policy is to leave positive reviews. If I don't enjoy a place I don't review it. I don't believe in wasting my time being negative. For Hito Yatai, I am going to break my rule because they have defrauded my family. Today, 05/02/2024, at 4:57pm I walked into Hito Yatai and placed a large order for my family: Chicken Teriyaki, Salmon Teriyaki, Yatai Roll, Rainbow Roll, Dragon Roll, Carpaccio (Hamachi) and Sashimi 15PCS. Total:$156.00. It took till 5:41pm before my food was done, which is understandable, it is a large order, and then I received my order. At 6:13pm I arrived home (Natomas), and we found that they FAILED to include the Carpaccio (Hamachi) $16 and the Sashimi 15pcs $45. At 6:15pm I called Hito Yatai and the owner said "Oh yeah they're still here. I put them in the fridge for you and I forgot to take them out for you. I'm so sorry. Do you live far away?" I said "Yes, Natomas." She said "I am going to give you a refund. I will call you in one hour." An hour came and went, no call. At 7:20pm, I called her back and after one ring my phone was immediately forwarded to the voicemail of another phone number. I immediately called from my husband's phone and since she didn't recognize Abran's phone number she answered and sounded surprised to be talking to me again. The owner reiterated that she would process a refund and call me when it was done. I asked when that would be and she said 9pm. It is 11:32pm and there's been no call, just a stomach ache from some undercooked chicken teriyaki pieces. I had to split my son's chicken teriyaki and while his half was cooked some of the pieces in my half weren't fully cooked. Everyone had to share food since we didn't receive all of the food that we paid for. Mistakes happen, and I have no problem forgiving a mistake that is corrected. We are all imperfect and I do not believe in writing a bad review over a mistake. When you make a mistake that shortchanges a customer food that totals $61 plus tax and you don't fix it, it is inexcusable. It is disrespectful. It is bad business. And legally speaking, it is fraud.

Food good, services good, the restaurant is beautiful and chill. This is what sushi eater wants to go. Rare place to find in this area.

Quaint little place with great food and friendly service. They had a great selection of fresh fish. Dessert was super light and fresh. Would recommend trying this quiet little spot.

This place is phenomenal. It is a must for the best sushi and salmon ever. My son came home for a visit from Silicon Valley and asked that we attend this place. He and my husband had two omikases and I had a teriyaki salmon. Food was better than any place in the area. This is true authentic Japanese food. My son said it is a hidden treasure and better than any place in Silicon Valley or LA area. Service is great. Owners stayed late so husband and son could enjoy omikase. This place is a must if you want authentic Japanese food. We love this place and will definitely be back.

The nigiri was amazing! Especially loved the golden eye snapper and scallop. Also loved the corn soup special. Cameron-San is a worthy successor to Shige, and we can't wait to go back.

Amazing food and service. The remodeling looks great as well. We will always miss Shige but we're so happy a quality place went in its spot.

Love this place. It's a small hole in the wall but the quality of the fish is top notch. The nigiri and sashimi are where they really shine but the appetizer specials are very good too. Okonomiyaki was killer. The guys at the bar are very knowledgeable and are happy to make recommendations if needed. My husband and I joke that we have been ruined for sushi now, this is now the bar for quality.

3 all around for ambiance, service, and food. Probably a 2 for price. The ambiance is nice when you walk in, but it seems very... unfinished. Like if someone did a really good job at dressing up the inside of a doughnut store, but it still held that doughnut store vibe. Service was nice when we got it, but they we're definitely understaffed in front and back, and the waitresses looked visibly stressed. We tried a little bit of everything from the menu. The food was sort of what you would expect from a decent sushi restaurant in this area, but a little less polished (and definitely not what the restaurant's feel or brand is trying to portray). Lastly the prices. While the rolls were adequately priced, the entree's and nigiri were exceptionally expensive - for one piece of nigiri nonetheless. Overall a solid 3, especially in the context of so many other great sushi places in Sacramento.

The good here is delicious! Went here with a large party. Some members were vegan/vegetarian and the owner provided them with a delicious option. The other members loved the jumbo fried shrimp and sushi. Would highly recommend!
