We heard from several people that we HAD to check out Hits The Spot. We finally stopped in last Saturday to see what all of the fuss was about. The wait was roughly 45 minutes, which people told us that was longer than usual. I think we also caught them at a crazy time with the end of breakfast and beginning of lunch around 11:45 ish. All good!
We were seated in the booth next to the front door which made for a chilly time each time someone opened the door and stood there while it was snowing outside. That is the restaurants fault, just complaining that people would be more aware that they are letting all of the hot air out and making everyone by the door freezing. I am sure if we were farther back in the restaurant we wouldn't even have noticed the waves of cold air.
The menu is rather large and I was struggling between breakfast and lunch. I did know that I was feeling like a fountain Dr. Pepper (nursing a hangover) and they instead had Mr. Pibb which was even better. More sugar to cure me. Lol. The server was amazing. She was quick with refills, checking if we wanted anything else, making sure the food and the 40,000 condiments on the table was good enough for us, etc. She handle the craziness very well and you wouldn't even had known that she had other tables.
I stuck with breakfast because as my husband pointed out, that IS why we were there. We just got there later than expected. S breakfast it was and I still couldn't make up my mind. I went with the egg and meat plate that comes with potatoes and bread. I got the eggs sunny side up, hash browns that were amazing, sausage patties and the biscuits and gravy, but because I couldn't fully make up my mind I also got the sausage links. way too much food for me but I knew all of this would make fantastic leftovers.... and they did. I loved all of it. The sausage patties were my favorite. My husband got the polish sausage skillet with the pancakes and added peanut butter chips to it. SO MUCH FOOD! Totally worth the price. I am so glad I listened to that random customer at Candlelight Tavern telling the bartender about this place. Then it was on my radar and heard more and more about it. We are definitely coming back to get lunch and more. This place is great!
Oh, and something I learned while there. The owner is also the chef, so that is why they are closed on Tuesday so he can have a day off. He does a fantastic job!
