A Review of Iceland Parliament Hotel | Hotels Above Par

"The hotel restaurant does simple exceptionally well: breakfast delivers thick, tangy skyr, warm rye bread, and Arctic char kissed with lemon and dill; lunch centers on a standout fish soup — rich but not cloying, built on dark beer and cream; and dinner turns up the dial without losing ease, from lamb shoulder with a perfect char to cod so tender it surrenders to your fork." - Jordi Lippe-McGraw

Hjá Jóni offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere and well-prepared, hearty Icelandic dishes. The flavors are balanced and comforting, and service is attentive without being intrusive. A pleasant choice for a relaxed meal in Reykjavík.

I decided to have dinner at this restaurant because the atmosphere and the decor look fancy and welcoming. I couldn’t lie though, that I was a little bit hesitant after reading some of the previous reviews. But hey, they appear to be not true! We had an exquisite meals and the service was fine. Two waitresses served us: Linda and a joyful lady whose name I forgot to ask (My bad), who really into Indonesian culture. They were really attentive, when we finished our bread, she immediately offered us another basket of bread within seconds - which amazed us, to be honest. The meals were wonderful. The fries were perfectly crispy, the soup was creamy, and the cod was beautiful! I forgot to take pictures of the bread, but gosh, the bread was really fluffy and combined with the butter, it was beautiful! I really recommend this place to everyone.

Wonderful restaurant! Very attentive and friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and decor. Food was great too - beef tataki, fish of the day was magnificent. Will definitely be returning. They have a nice set menu for lunch where you can choose any main paired with a starter and dessert from the menu (or all three if you have the appetite for it, portions are good)

Great breakfast. Big selection of cold cuts and baked goods. We took avocado toast and pancakes from a la carte menu which is complimentary. Everything was really great and great service as well!

This restaurant is in a hotel, but don't let that scare you! It was one of the best meals we had in Iceland! We went for dinner, and everything we ordered was fantastic! The Langoustine soup is a must try. They serve super warm and soft parker rolls for the table with herb butter and it's such a treat. The drinks are great as well. It's an all-round great restaurant and a particular highlight of our dining experience in Iceland.
