Hjem Review - Kensington - London - The Infatuation

"The area around High Street Kensington is a bit chain-y, so it’s worth taking a ten minute walk down to Hjem if you’re after a seriously good cup of coffee. This Danish café at Launceston Place is in one the prettiest corners of London and it doesn’t let the corner down. There’s a bench for two out front, but it’s also worth knowing that there’s a tiny and kind of secret patio out back." - Oliver Feldman

This is one of my favorite coffee spots in London. HJEM is a lovely little Scandinavian café with hands down the best cardamom and vanilla buns in the city — soft, fragrant, and absolutely delicious. Their pastries are top quality, and the coffee is just as good — rich, smooth, and beautifully prepared. The staff are always warm and welcoming, which makes the place feel extra cozy. It’s a small space, so seating can be limited, but it’s worth the visit for the quality and vibe. Everything here feels thoughtfully made, and their concept really shines through — both in the taste and the atmosphere.

Overall a very nice, sweet coffee spot tucked into Kensington, complete with a charming back garden. We enjoyed cappuccinos and their signature buns - both delicious and clearly made with care. The vibe was cosy, though the café was busy and the staff, while nice, had a lot to handle; service took a bit longer than expected but remained acceptable. Quietly rated: worth stopping.

I visited on a weekend morning. When I arrived, the coffee shop is busy and having a short queue. I wait for around 5 min to get served. I order a latte and a cinnamon bun. The male staff serving me did make a good taste latte, however without any latte art. There are other customers in-store eating and having coffees as well. They have very good looking coffee that I believe made from another staff. That is just unfair. I order take away because there is no space indoor. That doesn't mean that I don't care about what quality I am having. I am not going here anymore again and leave a review for everyone to warn that it may go downhill as not every staff is helpful and willing to serve you well. The bun is alright though, piping hot fresh from oven I believe. I won't recommend to anyone I know. £7.35 in total.

Very small cafe with solid coffee and baked goods. I arrived in the afternoon to meet someone and quickly had people asking if they could have the seat I was reserving for my date. The space filled very quickly and stayed full. The space also became noisy from other conversations and vehicle sounds from the street. I'd come back to get something to go.

Lovely place. Not many seats especially if a customer hogs 2 seats by sitting rather anti-socially at the seats facing the window 😅 Loved the banana cake with chocolate frosting. At first bite it was a tad dry however on the second bite it became delicious. The latte was so delicious and the milk froth was perfect. Coffee was extracted amazingly and no bitterness or sourness was detected at all. The lady who was manning the cafe (the only staff) was very warm and friendly, smiling. Will be back, God-Willing!

Incredible matcha wow. Lovely quaint place near Gloucester Road to sit, work or just enjoy their pastries
