The 20 Best Restaurants in Waikiki, Hawaiʻi | Eater

"You’ll find lots of gems in the basement food court of Waikiki Shopping Plaza, including Nana’s Green Tea and the recently relocated Maguro Brothers, also on this list. Another favorite is HK Cafe, styled like a cha chaan teng with Hong Kong dishes (think beef chow fun) and Hong Kong-style Western dishes (Ovaltine French toast). The laksa is also excellent, as is a wickedly strong milk tea. The original location is in Chinatown, offering more breakfast items. Must-try drink: A cold Hong Kong style milk tea. (The cold one is made with sweetened condensed milk versus evaporated milk and sugar.)" - Martha Cheng

Google
May2025 Authentic Cantonese cuisine in the heart of Waikiki. This joint serves up traditional and favorite dishes within a very bright and fun decorated interior. Food is ample and standard to the Asian taste but don't expect the best HK food. Service is prompt Toilet is communal Ideal for quick bites and small to large groups

This place is a hidden gem! If you want an authentic Hongkong cafe restaurant or 茶餐廳 this is the one! I got the Laksa noodle with chicken and the broth was a burst of flavor with savory and creamy and the chicken was juicy. My husband got a sate beef noodle soup which was also impressive with how tender the beef was and the soup was delicious. Even though they were spicy but not driving you crazy. Totally recommend this place

Google
The food here is amazing! The stir-fried beef rice noodles are freshly cooked with that signature wok hei—it truly reminded me of being back in China. I especially loved the Hong Kong-style milk tea, which tasted really authentic. Considering it’s in Hawaii, the prices are very reasonable. This place deserves more attention!

Google
We had a great meal here. There was only one server and she was working extra hard. The pot stickers were delicious and my husband really liked the beef chow fun.

Google
This little food stalll in an indoor market was all right. ( I wasn’t that hungry so I just got some dumplings) The shrimp/pork dumplings were tasty. My Hong Kong style bbq pork bun was a little disappointing

Google
Came here recommended by local bartender. Nice little restaurant with other Asian food options in the little square. (STIX) Ordered the Chicken and broccoli. Tasty dish, served fast, light sauce that compliments the broccoli well. Chicken is thigh meat, person next to me ordered the beef. It looked a little better than the chicken. Great food, I'd come back.

Google
So good! Beef chow fun (super flavorful tender beef) and bbq pork buns were super hot and delicious.

Google
We tried this place and loved it! The food was delicious, with reasonable portions and quick service. We ordered the beef chow fun and dim sum, both of which were excellent. The restaurant was clean, and the overall experience was great!

Yelp
The best place we have gone in Waikīkī , we went back twice!!! We love the fried noodle and pork buns

Yelp
Fock yeah. This is what I needed in Waikiki. Rock solid food at a fair price. Stumbled across this place the other day and got some dim sum and rice and it was great. Service was excellent. If in town again for sure going back.

Yelp
Excellent service-polite waitress, fast, all condiments provided, cooked HK style (Cantonese), large servings, tasty like home town cooking. Very clean. Ordered stir fry shrimp w western broccoli, steamed rice, steamed shrimp dumplings (4), satay beef chow funn, hot tea. Directions:-on Kalakaua Ave, look for Stix sign in red neon, Asian Food Hall, in red neon sign, descend escalator, HK Cafe is on immediate right. Google maps took us down side street with entry to another food court. Will happily return. Slightly expensive but portions are large, enough for two meals for me. My son gobbled up all his dishes!

Yelp
Super cute place for fast casual Canto food! We loved the black pepper shrimp egg over rice, the pepper gave the best flavor and the egg and rice texture blended great. Also I've always wanted to try the HK french toast so jumped at the opportunity - loved the peanut butter that melted inside and crispy fried bread. Service was efficient, it seems like it's a small family run place and they're all working so hard back there! Located inside the Asian Stix underground food court, we walked but they also validate parking if you spend more than $20. There's tons of other food options too in the plaza so definitely recommend checking it out.

Yelp
STIX Asia is such a cool place. You go down to what feels like the basement level that leads you to a cool line of restaurants, like you've uncovered a secret area. HK Cafe is one of the restaurants on that list. I had wanted to come here for dim sum, but opted for the wonton noodle soup instead. It was a decent portion and I was very satisfied. There were 3 keiki (kids) options and it was a nice size as well! We ordered the chicken nuggets/wings/fries/rice set from the keiki list for our younger son. For dessert, my husband and I shared the leaking milk dessert which is like two French toasts with milk oozing out when you take your first fork stab in it.

Yelp
Comfort food to the rescue! After days of American food we needed some Asian comfort food Hong Kong Style! HK Cafe never fails with their spot on Cantonese flavors. Today, we had the beef chow fun which had really good flavor and the blend of sprouts, green onions and beef! Next was the chicken wings with a mix of spices! To top it off with the Hong Kong honey tea was the perfect comfort meal just like in the real Hong Kong! Service was quick & attentive and the ambiance was a chill and casual vibe! Fun cafe!

Yelp
Normally I would not go into Waikiki just for canto comfort food, heck I would not go into Waikiki anyways! If you're a local, you know why. But, we had a reservation at 7 pm for another event and my better half wanted to eat here. Located in the Stix Food Hall, formerly known as the Waikiki Yokocho (also previously run by the same guy, so very unclear why they spent so much to rebrand), it's one of the many Asia styled eateries located in the basement. We got the shrimp and pork wonton soup and seafood vegetable over rice. The soup had medium sized wontons that were packed with shrimp and pork. The noodles were chewy and of decent quantity. The broth was a bit one note, but still quite good. The bok choy was fresh and crisp. You can't go wrong with this one if you're looking for a hot bowl of hearty soup. The seafood vegetable stir fry over rice had a solid amount of scallops, shrimp, and squid, accompanied by mushrooms, bok choy, green onion, and carrots over short grain rice, topped with light Asian style gravy. Perfectly seasoned, rice was not mushy, and the flavors worked well together. We cleaned this plate. Seating is open and you more or less pick where you want to sit after talking to the wait staff. Restaurant is clean and well-lit with comfy booths and chairs. Staff are polite and efficient. Bathrooms are shared with the rest of the tenants and the central desk will validate parking for two hours if you spend $35.

Yelp
The beef was perfectly tender, and the soup was creamy and spicy. At first the soup wasn't very spicy - but the spice grows on you over time! I wish I could just order a whole dish of the beef itself cuz it was cooked so perfectly, and was a beautiful flavor. Would absolutely come here again! Staff was nice as well.

Yelp
I got sick on our trip to Hawaii and wanted something soupy. I found HK Cafe walking back from the drug store. It was the best find ever. I ordered the braised beef noodle soup. It was so good and brought back memories of Asian cafes in California. It is small place within a food court. There was one server and presumably a cook/chef in the back. I liked how it was quieter than some of the other restaurants in the area.

Yelp
This is a popular branch with its original location located in Honolulu Chinatown. This location is inside STIX Asia in Waikiki (formerly Waikiki Yokocho). It seems to be one of the busiest restaurant as well. I've had the steamed spare ribs with black bean as well as the pork fried rice just for a good measure for a restaurant that billed itself as a Hong Kong Cafe. Give me "wok hei" fried rice! and see if you're truly Hong Kong style. While the spare ribs with the black bean sauce was pretty bad, the fried rice was good and I could tasted the little "wok hei" albeit not enough. But I could tasted it. I will show up again soon and will give them another test with another Cantonese classics : Beef Chow Fun How "wok hei" can you go?

Yelp
HK Cafe has expanded and moved to the entry way of the STIX Asian Food Hall. Take the escalator down and you enter the food hall. As soon as you walk in, it is first place on the right. There are more tables now. Food: I dropped this place one star because they were consistently out of ingredients. The substitutes were not that great, but the food still tastes great. We ordered Singapore noodles the first time and they were out of pork and they gave us pork chops. The pork chops were cut paper thin and you could not see or taste them, but we still had to pay full price, but again it tasted good. The second day, they were still out of pork for Singapore noodles, so we got it with chicken. It tasted good, but we missed the pork. Finally on our last day, we got our pork. It was delicious. Employees: The employees are really nice. Some are nicer, friendlier, than others. We arrived at a odd time and the chefs were eating their meals. We were curious and they were kind and gave us a sample. Everything here is delicious, but we always crave their Singapore noodles!

Yelp
A little hard to find, but well worth it. Food was amazing and the service was outstanding

Yelp
I was hungry in Waikiki and found this place inside STIX Asia. Service was lightning fast even if there's only one server on that Wednesday evening, Jiayu. Despite being alone, she was attentive to everyone dining yet was very efficient and quick. Food is great. Singapore rice noodles were awesome. Shrimp and pork dumplings were soo flavorful. I recommend this place for their yummy food, great service and very casual relaxed atmosphere. Giving this a 5/5!

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised with dishes ordered. Service was great; attendant followed up on an item that didn't make it to our table and was able to cancelled it (we were full from all the other dishes ordered). Local mom and pop eating establishment that serves up good, tasty food, without it being too salty or sweet.

Yelp
I had a mediocre experience at Stix Asia, the food hall on Kalākaua and I vowed to return. I believe HK Cafe opened up since I visited last time in March, 2023. They serve hearty Cantonese food in a casual setting. I had the char siu omelette. HK also has a beef or shrimp version. The char siu was moist & tender, and it was a large portion. I was full even though I didn't eat all the rice. HTC had the beef brisket noodle soup and enjoyed it. She said the beef was tender, and the portion was large. Our waitress was super nice & friendly, and helpful with the menu. I look forward to returning to try some other dishes like chicken wings and Singapore rice noodle.

Yelp
I am visiting from Bay Area, California and this is exactly what we were looking for. Better than Chinese restaurants from where we live even! Very friendly staff as well. Highly recommend the Beef Chow Fun and the BBQ Pork over rice.

Yelp
Positives: it's in Stix. We love Stix. Validated parking nights and weekends. Lots of menu options Kamaaina discount! Large shrimp in the curry laksa Large portion of noodles Love their chili oil it's spicy and very tasty Negatives: a bit pricey for what you get, and the flavor of the curry was very light, almost bland. For being what they're known for, I wanted to be more wowed. I would definitely come back to try more things and would come back just for the chili oil!
google avatar

Jay P.

Yelp
The food was delicious but the prices were insanely high. ~$26 for a single vegetarian dish. Service was good and the ambiance- although situated in a classy "food court" - was nice. Although I really enjoyed my experience, due to extremely high prices, I won't be returning. 3.5/5

Yelp
Rounding up a bit, but overall we had a pretty good experience! Our party was split on where to eat but the waitress was really nice and let some of our party bring in outside food since it wasn't too busy. Its nice and clean inside, like most of the restaurants in stix its on the smaller side. We came in really craving that chinese style soft omlette, and it certainly hit the spot. Silky, almost runny eggs and a flavourful black pepper gravy over rice. Shrimps were perfectly cooked for me too, not too rubbery or mushy. The laksa was also quite good! We got the chicken since we already had a shrimp dish, but I think the seafood would actually complement it better. I've only had 1 other laksa, so I don't have a lot to compare to, but this broth was a little thinner and light, perfectly sweet, savory and spicy. I drank the entire bowl at the end and was so full lol. Finally the braised beef and tendon. Served with rice and a baby bok choy, it reminded me of a nice homecooked meal. The sauce is very rich and sticky (like a lot of collagen from the tendon?) Which was good when it was fresh and hot, but it gets a little stodgy if it cools before you finish it. I guess just eat it quickly or take it home to the microwave lol. We might come back to try their wings. The only thing is their location, they have stiff competition in styx and parking is kinda tough in Waikiki!
google avatar

Rob B.

Yelp
Very excited to see this place but can't get excited by the Laksa unfortunately. Was it bad, it was like bad pizza, still good but not great. There are better examples of Laksa on island fortunately. I took home the beef chow fun, that was decidedly better. I am not giving up on this place. Will report back after the next visit.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious, fresh food with a cool, fun ambiance. Service is fantastic. Everyone is so nice and helpful. And the food -- 10/10. Not the first time I've visited and will not be my last!

Yelp
This was a great spot for our gathering of a party of 8. We all shared dishes and got everything Ala cart. The service is to the point figure out what you want and it will come out fast. Was fresh and everything was delicious. Don't forget to show your Hawaii ID for 15% off.

Yelp
The food was delicious!! We ordered takeout and the portions were pretty huge. The food came out pretty quickly and piping hot. The person who took our order was nice. The seating and restaurant is clean and lovely. We got the hot and sour soup, mapo tofu, and braised beef and tendon. Everything was delicious and we will definitely come back. Super yummy!!

Yelp
Our meal tonight was just okay; the food tasted different from when I came here in July 2023 and I suspected it's a different chef. I remember the stir fry noodles with bean sprouts and shredded pork was so good back in July and I was looking forward to eating it again, but what I had tonight was almost a completely different dish. First the toppings were cut in such big chunks. They should be thinly sliced and kinda blend into the noodles so each chopstick-ful should have a good proportion of everything. That's clearly not the case. I was eating the noodles separately from the toppings. Second, this dish isn't supposed to look dark. Typically not much soy sauce is involved. The gravy should've been clear and whitish using chicken broth and corn starch as a thickener. Third, the noodles were not fried crispy enough. I was so disappointed how different this tasted tonight compared to what I had just 5 months ago. Fourth, the shredded pork should have a silky texture to it from being marinated a certain way that I myself can't do at home. I feel like I can make this stir fry noodle better myself so what's the point to eat out. The soup noodles looked and tasted almost like the stir fry noodle dish, but it should be different. The broth shouldn't be soy sauce color either and there wasn't enough depth, almost like water with salt. And same problem - all the toppings were cut to big chunks. And they used the same pork like the stir fry noodles. The only saving grace was the chicken wings. They're still amazing! That's the main reason why we came here! It's the first time for us trying the beef fried rice too and that was good too, although I'm not sure why it's soy sauce again. At least that was enjoyable. Seems like all the dishes we ordered were heavily soy-sauce-based and it's not supposed to be like this. Our meal tonight was definitely not the standard of HK food. This might be able to satisfy a non Cantonese person, but it probably wouldn't fly with a person who's familiar with Cantonese especially Hong Kong food. I'll give this place a try again maybe in a few months, or go to their Chinatown location instead.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by my experience here. I've always know about HK cafe since they opened their first location in downtown. It has always been on my list but I never managed to find the time to go, so when the opportunity arose for me to dine here, I happily obliged. HK cafe (Waikiki) is located inside STIX Asia, which is in the underground area of the mall/plaza it's in. There's a wide variety of Asian cuisines, with various restaurants right next to each other, but it's not like a food court, as each restaurant has its own area and seating. HK cafe has a very unique set of decorations. Some may even describe it as almost cyberpunk, with the cool neon signs all over the restaurant. The menu at this location is more limited compared to its original standalone location but it is still expansive regardless. The service didn't stand out to me too much. The waitress was nice and attentive, refilled my water and offered me more napkins when I was out. She also didn't hurry us and patiently waited for us to ask for the bill instead of just giving it to us. To the star of the show, the food: - Green Onion Pork Chop: My partner ordered this. The scallion oil was extremely flavorful. However, the oil had a ginger flavor to it, I'm unsure if it was fully intended as it was not stated in the name on the menu but it didn't agree with my taste buds at that moment. My partner seemed to enjoy it quite a lot, and honestly it wasn't too bad for me either. The ginger flavor just confused me if anything. Seafood Laksa: This is my first time trying laksa, and I was NOT disappointed. I've always wanted to try laksa and unsure if this would be considered the authentic way but it was so delicious. The noodles (we choose thick based off the recommendation of the waitress) was extremely bouncy and had an amazing texture. The broth were creamy and flavorful, it tasted like a soupier version of a thai curry i've had before, it was a super indulgent flavor. The seafood itself didn't stand out to me much, and I wished there was a bit more seafood, no big deal though, the noodles were more than enough for lil ole me. I would highly recommend this place (or Stix Asia in general) for a quick bite in Waikiki.
google avatar

Julyana T.

Yelp
Skip the beef chow fun. It's alright but there's better restaurant if you are looking for this dish. You should go for the laksa instead. The soup is top notch and you can choose the type of noodles. In terms of protein, they have variety of options as well. We really like the beef and tendon. Those are cooked to perfection. The cold HK milk tea is not too sweet and the milk is not overpowering. However, the tea runs a bit too strong thus leaving bitter aftertaste.
google avatar

Rand E.

Yelp
A sister restaurant from the original in Chinatown. We only had a few morsels to taste so couldn't give a better review. The beef brisket was full flavored and melted in your mouth. The chicken wing was tasty with a five spice seasoning (& maybe msg). Since I'm sensitive to msg...not to my liking. But the full menu looks intriguing and good for another try.

Yelp
We had other choices but saw that they have dim sum. So we decided to give it a try. We had a party of 8. The lady took everyone orders but doesn't remember who order what and she never call out the food order. All they do is put food on the table. We all were confused.. Everyone finished their food but my daughter never received her spicy chicken. We asked over and over again and they said it's coming. After waiting almost 40 minutes. They came back and told me that they don't have any more chili peppers to make the dish. I was so disappointed. Again why they didn't tell us from the beginning .... so they forgot my daughter order but yet they keep telling me 5 more minutes then ask us to order something else. All the food were bland. Disappointed big time. Sorry Hawaii

Yelp
Craving some authentic Chinese in a casual setting ? HK Cafe offers tasty bites ...and located in Styx Asia where others can eat something else if HK style food is not their jam - but who could resist the classic dishes like beef chow fun ? I def recommend and also there is a kamaaiana discount

Yelp
Will definitely come back to this place! We tried the beef noodle but chose the thin noodles on our waitresses recommendation. It was tasty with tender pieces of beef--loved it. We also ordered the shrimp omelette with black pepper sauce--also recommended by our waitress. Listen to your server's recommendations at this restaurant--it was so good. The sauce in this dish is not pungent like some other black pepper dishes you've tried in your local Chinese restaurants. It was subtle but with a good dose of umami. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, the egg was silky, and even the rice was delicious. The best part of this experience was our waitress. She was fun, worked with us, attentive, and gets behind their food.

Yelp
Quaint ambience of customers deciding whether to dine in or take out. Stop by before 6 pm for more options with seats. Limited seating capacity is under 25 people. There's only one male worker that served as host or greeter and server. He accommodated our requests despite dinner rush from dine in patrons and multiple in-person take out orders. All dishes were served piping hot! Singapore Rice Noodles: Sampled with pair of chopsticks from my husband's dish. My first impression was a robust, curry flavor. He certainly enjoyed and finished his entire meal. Chu Hou Beef Brisket & Beef Tendon w/ Rice: I didn't taste this dish. My son enjoyed the flavorful beef brisket, beef tendon minus the fat, and rice. House Special Fried Chicken Wings or HSFCW 6 pcs: Fried to perfection. Not oily. No signs of excess oil. Definitely not spicy. Tasty, very moist and succulent. Coating remained intact with chicken. Shredded cabbage came in handy with cleansing palate in between bites. Ideal appetizer paired with an alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverage of your choice. Hubby and I shared this appetizer together. We agreed it's on higher end in cost. Worth spending the money. Szechuan Style Pickle with Sliced Pork Noodle Soup: Select your choice of thick noodles, thin noodles, or egg noodles. Thin noodles will be served by default with your dish if a certain type of noodle is not selected. Clean, mild tasting broth integrated exceptionally well with oyster sauce. Generous servings of moist, tender and succulent pork served with strips of pickles, sliced red peppers, green bell peppers, onions, and green onions. Loved how the al dente thin noodles withstood piping hot broth from start to end. Especially loved how the pickles and veggies enhanced the broth! Located in Stix Asia with entrance closest to Kalākaua Ave. Would love to return and try other noodle soups, appetizers and desserts.

Yelp
Went to the new location soft opening and so glad for the expanded menu. Genuine HK style Chinese food - taste the wok hei in the beef chow fun which is spot on. I also like the hk style toast and I think this place does the xiao long bao better- no tins and the skin isn't thin enough to burst and lose the soup. Glad they expanded to a bigger place! Will be back. Don't forget the kamaaina discount.

Yelp
I had their seafood laksa, and I enjoyed the flavor and the fresh seafood!! The portion was perfect, service was quick and attentive, and I would definitely come back! I also had their HK milk tea, which was a bit expensive, but very good!

Yelp
Located at the STIX Asia, we stumbled across HK Cafe. We wanted a quick meal but also wanted to support the Asian restaurants so decided to come eat here. Our server was super friendly and even made sure that I was seated at a spot where the AC may be too strong for me. She was really attentive throughout our meal too and checked in to make sure everything was good. We started off by ordering an iced Hong Kong milk tea, iced lemon tea, stir-fried beef noodles and the satay beef noodle soup. First off, the Hong Kong milk tea was so smooth and delicious. Very authentic to real Hong Kong milk tea without being in Hong Kong. I thought the lemon tea was also good and refreshing. The stir fried beef noodles and the satay beef noodle soup were both good, however I felt like the stir fried beef noodles could use a little more wok-hay. Maybe if they kept it in the wok a little longer, it would've been even more flavorful. The satay beef was interesting, in that I didn't expect them to use beef slices but it was still flavorful and the green bell peppers was a nice touch. Overall I think there's room for som improvement & hope to see their business flourish.

Yelp
This is a new hidden gem in Waikiki located at STIX Asian Food Hall. You can take the stairs for escalator from street level off Kalakua They have authentic Hong Kong meals that brings me back to my childhood. We started with the House Special chicken wings. It took them awhile to bring out the order but it was worth the wait. Chicken meat was cooked perfectly where the meat is juicy on the inside. We then had the Shrimp Omelette Over Rice which can be cooked in 3 different sauces, and we selected the creamy sauce. There is a generous portion of rice and a soft scrambled eggs with juicy and large portion of shrimp. This is a mild flavored dish so you may ask for hot sauce if you like that heat. The sauce carousel includes red vinegar and soy sauce which would be ideal with some of their other dishes. The Singaporean Fried Noodles was also a healthy portion to share and the noodles were not too greasy and had excellent flavor with some vegetables. We ended with a desert, their Hong Kong Style Thick French Toast. This was the perfect way to end the meal. Two large slices of bread filled with peanut butter and topped with a sweet icing. It was not too sweet and the edges were crispy. SO GOOD! The best part is that the staff is so attentive and they refilled our water often and took away dirty dishes quickly. I will definitely return and try other dishes.

Yelp
We ordered the shrimp omelette rice and the Hong Kong milk tea. The Hong Kong milk tea was heavenly, the tea flavor was so so strong. There was a good amount of shrimp compared to some other spots we've been at. However, even with the satay sauce we felt it was a little light on the flavor. It could use a little more seasoning of some sort. There were other items in the menu that we would have tried. Staff was friendly and ample seating.

Went to dinner at HK cafe and tried the beef chow fun dish. It was delicious. The waitress was friendly. I would go back again before going back home...

Yelp
This is the second HK Cafe that opened up on Oahu. The first is in Chinatown. This location is in Waikiki in the Stix Waikiki food court. Out of all the wonton meins that I've tried on the island, this one most resembles the ones that they serve in Hong Kong. Everything was on point and I have sharp taste buds for Chinese food. The pork in the wontons were minced and had a piece of shrimp in the middle, so it wasn't one big piece of meat. The broth had depth and a nice flavor. They used the right wonton noodles and it was cooked perfectly. It was served with choy sum. I asked for a side of red vinegar and it was delicious. Nadine C. ordered the shredded pork friend noodles. This was also fantastic. The noodles were perfectly fried. The gravy that they put on top the noodles softened it somewhat and gave it great flavor. The sides of the noodles stayed crispy. The workers here speak Cantonese. There was only one server the whole time we were there. When we arrived it was kind of slow. It was only us and another table. However, it quickly picked up and the place was almost full when we left. The server gave us a 15% kama'aina discount. It pays to be local.

Yelp
Hong Kong cuisine in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii... The original location of HK Cafe is in Honolulu's Chinatown where parking is challenging. However, the prices seem to be a few dollars lower on Maunakea Street... Located in the basement of Waikiki Shopping Plaza, this second location of HK Cafe can be found when you descend the stairs on Seaside Avenue and go down the hallway of Stix Asia (food court formerly known as Yokocho Alley) on the left. The clean, cozy shop was not crowded at first, but as time went on, the seats were almost all filled. I ordered the Shredded pork with mushrooms and bean sprouts on fried noodles. There didn't seem to be any mushrooms... Haha... And the tasty gravy made the noodles soft in the middle. The edges of the noodle dish were crisp. Service was very cheerful and prompt. This lone gal did everything: taking orders, seating customers, ringing up bills, and serving everyone! She gave us a Kama'āina discount... which is better than the Coupon Book's 10% discount! I think I had an easier time parking in Waikiki (shocking, right?) and the space seemed larger than Chinatown. It's a tough decision, but I prefer this second Waikiki location of HK Cafe over the original Chinatown location!

Yelp
Located inside the Asian Food Court in Waikiki, this is a great hidden gem! Food: Fantastic, incredible Singapore noodles! Generous shrimp and perfect pork. Flavors- incredible! Great portion size too. Service: good service Overall cleanliness: excellent Misc: Located in the Asian Food Court. This is not your mall's food court. This is a great food court.

Yelp
Nothing fancy, but hit-the-spot casual comfort food in the heart of Waikiki. Located in the Stix Asia food hall, this Hong Kong café serves all the classics and does them well. The Hong Kong milk tea was some of the best I've ever had and everything we ordered was prepared perfectly. Especially enjoyed the wonton mee and and the chow fun's excellent wok hei.

Yelp
After a long day of travel, we were hungry and HK Cafe got the job done. We ordered the beef chow fun and wonton noodle soup. Both were tasty and filled our bellies, but I would say slightly salty. My son was happily slurping up the broth and noodles from the soup, so he obviously didn't notice. The beef chow fun noodles were great and had a nice seasoned glaze with lots of scallions, bean sprouts, and onions. Price range is around $16-17 per dish and I do wish the portions were slightly larger for this price point. We were the only patrons there mid afternoon on a weekday, so we got our food very quickly. When I was looking over the menus and we chose to eat here, the food and experience met my expectations and specifically the soup was exactly what I had in mind. A different taste if you're not feeling like the pork or miso flavors of the neighboring ramen spots.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on friday, there were a few other parties but not that many. Ordered the beef fried rice, chicken laksa, and singapore rice noodles. It cam out in like 20 ish minutes, a little slow, came out one by one. The food overall was pretty mid for being pricey. The Singapore noodles didnt have much flavor but had a good spice to it. Same with the beef fried rice, lacked flavor. The laksa was prob the best one, but had an interesting tanginess to it but was pretty good but not amazing. All dishes had a good amount of meat though which was good. Also the portions were pretty small too. Service was decent, nothing bad but not great. Seated us and gave us water, took our dirty dishes away, but we asked for chili oil or something spicy and they brought it out like a lot later. Also their chili oil was not good, no flavor and the proportions of chili and oil was not it lol. Overall place is okay, kinda like an overpriced Chinese restaurant lol.

Yelp
Inside the food hall down the escalator from the main street in Waikiki is an assortment of Asian restaurants. This particular spot had a delightful host and laksa, so I ordered to go. They do the dish well. The shrimp wontons were yummy and the broth was flavorful (it could have been more spicy). I'd definitely come back to try other dishes. Service was quick and the dining area was nice (I was just by myself though so I preferred to go).

Yelp
Located within the Waikiki shopping plaza (lower level, to the left), HK cafe is hidden amongst a myriad of Japanese ramen and sushi restaurants. It's quite expensive for what it is, given I've eaten wonton noodle soup for about a literal quarter of the price in the Bay Area. Still, I understand Waikiki prices, and with us randomly craving Cantonese food in Oahu, this place was a taste of HK in Hawaii. They've got all the traditional HK cafe foods, from lemon tea to buttered French toast to beef noodle soup. Sadly, they were out of cheurng fun and beef chow fun. Ordered the satay beef noodle soup (3): not sure why they added bell peppers (maybe for color?), because they tasted awful in here. The broth was rather bland and flavorless, and was mainly salvaged by their homemade chili oil (ask for it). I personally wouldn't get that again. The Singaporean rice noodle (6) was much more flavorful and I'd recommend that instead. The lemon tea tasted fine, although sweeter than normal. The peanut butter in the French toast was ... interesting. Made the entire thing feel inauthentic and too thick to enjoy. Overall, while not a terrible cafe, I'm a little disappointed in HK cafe's odd additions to an otherwise decent menu.

Yelp
HK cafe has moved to another larger stall inside of Stix Asia. They are now towards the front entry off Kalakaua Avenue to the right as you come down the escalator or stairs. This new space is larger and has a nice ambience of decoration with lights and pictures. Their menu is also much larger than when they were at the smaller location. We ordered the satay beef over rice, shrimp egg over rice and the ovaltine french toast for dessert. Most of the dishes are in the $15 - $20 range. The two rice dishes were tasty and ample sized servings. The highlight was the ovaline french toast coated with a layer of ovaltine mocha goodness. Underneath were two layers of grilled french toast smothered in a sweet syrup which I am guessing was sweetened condensed milk. The toast tasted buttery and when mopped with the syrup, it was just the delicious end to the meal. Service was quick and friendly and the dining area is wide open and comfortable. Note that HK Cafe in chinatown Honolulu has the same menu items and even more but averaging +$5 less than this Waikiki location. Make sure you ask for the kamaina discount and show your local ID.

Yelp
The place is legit. You can taste the wok hei in the beef chow fun. Flavor was good and had lots of rice noodles with tender beef. The won ton noodles with beef stew was also good. Noodles had the traditional slightly bouncy chew. Pork and shrimp wontons were excellent. Definitely a good meal.
