"I’ve been a bit obsessed with Hong Kong-style cafes of late, visiting the newer and excellent Tam’s Noodle House and Pearl River Deli, but I decided to go a bit more classic with a lazy Sunday visit to Ho Kee Cafe in Arcadia. I’m always thinking of movies like Chungking Express, of loud noodle shops and busy streets immortalized in Wong Kar-wai films. In contrast, Ho Kee Cafe sports a rather elegant dining room but has enough design details like murals of streetscapes and trolleys to make it feel like I’m in Hong Kong. It’s a nice place to duck away with a book or newspaper on weekends as it lacks the typical busyness of dim sum palaces. Bites like tender roast duck with sweet orange sauce make way for fish filets in black bean sauce. A hefty wonton noodle soup comes with righteous-sized shrimp wontons, the broth a bit thinner but still more satisfying than competitors. Part of the charm of HK cafes is the brutally efficient service, which could come off as brusque, but I appreciate it. If you leave them alone, they’ll mostly leave you alone, which I rather prefer on Sundays." - Eater Staff

Went there for a friend's birthday party. The restaurant is tucked a bit so if you're driving too fast you might pass it. There's plenty of free self parking in the front, to the side and in the back. The staff is very energetic and busy. They're welcoming and friendly. The restaurant has nice ambience but, as expected, it's a bit loud with all the guests chatting loudly. Luckily, we got their private room which was much quieter once the doors were closed. We received the VIP treatment lol We were a group of 8 but we got the large round group of 10 table with plenty of space for all the yummy food we ordered. The menu has lots of options. Glad my friends speak Cantonese. All the food was delicious.

Google
Basic dish like BBQ pork and soy sauce chicken looked like it is a leftover from few days ago.... Sweet and Sour Pork are just bad... it is disappointing. The only positive thing could be now they are giving free shrimp when you ordered $50 or more. We packed the Sweet and Sour Pork to go but its all fat...

Second location of the very popular Hong Kong style Cantonese cafe is now opened in Arcadia. This location is slightly bigger than the SG location but got a few private rooms set up for private parties. Some rooms come equipped with premium sound system for some karaoke sesh. Over the weekend, friends and I got one of those room, great food and a great time! Very surprised the room was superbly soundproofed! Also the table inside that room could seat 14 adults comfortably. Menu is essentially the same as the SG location. Many off menu dishes are available too. Some seafood or delicacies may require advance reservation. We had roasted squabs, roasted duck (of course, I still think Ho Kee’s roasted duck is best in LA. They only do a few ducks at a time and continue to roast more through out the day to ensure your duck never sit out for too long. I also love their seasonal seafood (market price & supplies limited, check first). Love the giant prawns! We tried the boiled cod in a mildly peppery sauce, tasty & not fiery like Szechuan cousin. There was also lobster in different styles of cooking. The orange pork chop was simple and yummy! Not as oily as the far cousin Panda’s ;) & much tastier. Had some offals too. Really liked their braised tripes with turnips, and a cold appetizers with thinly julienned beef stomach with cucumber, green onion, & bell pepper. Steamed oysters were yummy according to my friends (I only eat raw oysters :)) oh almost forget, foie gras chow e mein! So good! & the crispy pork belly stir-fries with a type of romanesco broccoli... just talking about this made me crave for some now! This place just makes me feel like home. One could order simple tasty noodles dishes & simple family style Cantonese food for 1 or a few. One could also host a fancy banquet dinner with ordering fancy seafood dishes and rare Cantonese delicacies. Love this place! Side note, their water system is entirely filtered. No worries about funky tap water. I highly recommended this restaurant. Even tho their name is a cafe, they offer so many culinary lost art in Cantonese delicacies that one could totally host a banquet there fit for an emperor. Gotta ask the ahead what could be available though. Reservation is recommended for peak hours.

This is 100th anniversary of Kam Yen Jan celebration and their legacy of crafting authentic Lap Cheong (lạp xưởng - Chinese sausages) and preserved meats. The event brings a perfect product tasting experience to me and the other foodies. Had Lap Cheong since I was a kid. Love their products! Menu of the event: 1. Ho Kee deluxe platter 2. Chinese broccoli with cured meat 3. Deluxe prawn 4. Crab meat & fish maw soup 5. Sizzling chicken casserole with Chinese sausage 6. Sauteed beef with snap peas 7. Minced duck meat served with lettuce wraps 8. Baked lobster with ginger and scallion 9. Claypot rice with assorted sausages

Service friendly, food prices add up, make sure to come with a group. Hella leftovers afterward. No desserts. Mall tofu = ❤️ we also got pineapple fried rice and duck. We ordered a side of rice and it was huge 😵. Unfortunately afterwards, we decimated SpongeBobs house. The duck tasted like a beefy chicken. It was richer and heavier, but delicious.

Google
This is a Chinese-style restaurant. There are dishes with the taste of southern China, such as roast duck, Cantonese dishes, etc. various soups in Guangdong. In addition, there are also northern dishes, such as roast duck in Beijing. There are many kinds of dishes here, including grass and soup. All kinds of barbecue can be found in many places in the store at that time, and there are many private rooms that look very comfortable. In addition, the types of takeaways are also very rich. I often order takeaways here.

Google
During lunch $13 gets you a noodle with drink combo. The wonton noodles is excellent. Exactly how I remember it tasted like in Hong Kong. The milk tea I got was the legit HK milk tea taste. One thing I did notice is that they are not flexible about customizing your order ie instead of wonton noodle, you want brisket and wonton (at extra cost) they won’t do it.

Google
Was there around 5pm on a weekday. Only one party inside although there was a steady stream of takeout orders. The staff was very kind to seat us right away Had wonton soup and 海鮮伊麵。 The wonton was ok. The soup was a bit salty. The 海鮮伊麵 was very oily and soaky. It’s below average. The restaurants probably have better dishes I didn’t choose.

Yelp
Had a large family meal here and I felt the food was extremely good! Everything tasted fresh and on point. Walnut shrimp wasn't too sweet, and not over loaded with mayonnaise like other places. Fish fillet had big chunks. I enjoyed it all and wish I took pictures. Plan to come again! Parking was easy. Great for big parties and small.

Yelp
Ho Kee is definitely one of those restaurants that require you to know exactly what to order because the quality of dishes varies quite drastically. Food: I've been here on several occasions for dinner and lunch. I'd say stick with the simple stuff, like their chow fun, chow mein, roast meats, and wontons. Every time I order seafood items here, I'm left with a taste of disappointment. Service: The staff is usually very attentive here. Environment: There is plenty of parking, clean seating, and private rooms. A good place to bring your family. Price: The usual stuff is priced similarly to those of their competitors. For the seafood items, it does seem very pricy. They no longer open for breakfast, so the breakfast deal is now their lunch deal.

Yelp
Service 10 very good service Ambiance 10 good very clean place family restaurant Food 7 everything no flavor, good look but not taste ; corn soup. No salt , Pekín duck flavorless , fried rice flavorless I give them 7.

Yelp
I been to many (almost all) Hong Kong cafes in the area and this is one of the ones with good quality dishes. They had a lunch special with breakfast items such as the noodle soups, rice rolls, and porridge which I LOVED but they got rid of! I wish they only bring it back because there are people like me who would love to eat breakfast items at a lunch time until 3 pm!! Sadly they got rid of it and I wish they brought it back. However, currently now they have another lunch special that comes with rice and a bowl of soup which is not bad either. The choy was a bit salty but it was very clean and fresh. The fish was also not smelly and the texture of it was very fresh as well. I would definitely come back to try other items. It is hidden in the plaza across from El Pollo Loco and AmPm gas station, next to the Big Lots.

Yelp
This restaurant is very close to home, so I often go there to buy it, but this experience left me very unsatisfied. I called ahead to order and got to the restaurant in 15 minutes. After paying, I waited another 15 minutes, so it took me 30 minutes for a lunch. It was really a waste of my lunch time. I was no longer in the mood to enjoy my lunch when I got home. Even though they gave away free ice tea, I still wouldn't go there again.

Yelp
Legit and tasty. Prices have gone up due to inflation. $12-$13 for a bowl of wonton (5) noodles. Its good, but not amazeballs. Duck is delish

Yelp
I like this place, more so than their location on Del Mar. Mostly because of one waiter. I don't know his name but he's short and stocky, with glasses. High energy, and really nice. Gives you refills without having to ask. Very accommodating with the menu choices. The food is fine -- there are some that are better but for a lunch special, it's hard to beat what they have to offer.

Yelp
** Review for breakfast only ** Craving some HK-style breakfast and came here over the weekend with my boyfriend. We came around 11am, which we thought was a little late, but there were only a few people in the restaurant. The service was quick, as expected of an HK cafe. We each got a combo which came with two dishes for ~$15. My boyfriend got the beef stew noodle soup with char siu steamed rice rolls, and I got the spam instant ramen with soy sauce chow mein (not pictured). Each combo came with a free drink! All of the dishes had decent flavor and the portions were on the larger side. I can't say that anything was too outstanding but the portions were larger than average and they hit the spot. The standout of all the dishes definitely has to be the steamed rice rolls, which is no surprise because their menu offers a variety of steamed rice rolls with various toppings. They are also very generous with the amount of toppings they give you in each order. Overall I definitely would come back for a quick HK-style breakfast!

Yelp
Not that good and super expensive. I would not recommend it. Ducks roasted are usually what I ordered

Karl K.

Yelp
Very solid choice You pretty much can't go wrong with any of the dishes, especially the salt and pepper fried squid, and the roast duck. Also, for thanksgiving they sell a roasted turkey with Chinese "lo mai fan/lap cheung" stuffing. Definitely stop by this place!

Yelp
Loved it. Clean Modern Interior. Food was excellent Cantonese Style. Brisket was tender, soup broth clear and tastes authentic. Rice noodle roll was nice and thin and wrinkly, duck fresh and tasty. Milk Tea excellent. Overall Great and will be returning.

Yelp
We stopped by last week when we were visiting LA. It was raining cats and dogs and but we ventured out of our Hotel to find some hot food. We walked in to this spot and noticed we were like one of two tables in the entire restaurant probably because of the rain? The name of the restaurant has "cafe" in the name but it seemed like it was full on Seafood restaurant with Chinese BBQ too. We ordered the Wonton noodle soup which was pretty good and hit the spot on a cold and rainy night. We ordered three Salt and Pepper fried Squid and the Fried King Crab Fried Rice from their specialty menu. The Fried Squid was very tasty but some of the pieces were clumped together and the batter was not cooked all the way through. The Fried rice was a bit bland and we could not taste the crab. The waitress also brought out a plate of steamed peel and eat shrimp on the house and it was fresh and the dipping sauce that came with it was tasty. Overall, 3. 5 stars but well round up to 4 stars for the Service.

Yelp
Pretty good - very traditional restaurant , they treat their diners well. I had the braised beef noodle soup

Hana L.

Yelp
Their customer service has greatly improved since about a year ago when I was last there. Very attentive, professional and courteous. If it stays like this, I'll come back more often. Their food is always a hit. It's consistently delicious, reasonably priced and never have to wait too long for the food to come out either. Love the TVs, playing basketball games. Lots of tables for couples and groups as well as banquet style tables for families. Ambiance is casual. Biggest improvement was the customer service and I hope (like the food) that this too stays consistent. Keep up the great work Ho Kee!!

CC J.

Yelp
Good meals special menu - lunch and afternoon tea. Tried its lunch special which is pretty good. Will come back and try its afternoon tea set.

Yelp
Where to begin... let me start with just come here and order... I've yet to find a dish that I wouldn't order again. The place is traditional Chinese style seating with rooms for larger parties. There is a small Buddha display at the entrance that very classy and very well designed. The food here is nothing short of amazing. They specialize on some amazing things like sea cucumbers, giant clam, lobster, crab and even excel on things like sweet and sour pork. This establishment in my opinion is one of the very top places to eat. I highly recommend it!

Mae W.

Yelp
Shrimp Wonton noodles combo (A+B) with hk style pineapple bun for $10.99! Last breakfast combo this weekend until 11/1/2023 they will no longer serve breakfast combos with only lunch @11am glad I came to enjoy one last breakfast combo!

Yelp
So we've passed by this place, numerous times and it looked kind of nice, so on this evening, the wife & I wanted to try something new and this is our opportunity. The interior was nice & clean, servers were nice, helpful, but attentiveness could use a little work. Ordered 3 dishes, stir fried chinese broccoli, fried squab and some kind of chicken dish, the breakdown is as followed- Fried squab - 5/5. Great taste, crispy skin, moist and tender on the inside. Kind of pricey for the amount of meat you get. Chinese broccoli- 2/5. Lacked seasoning, no flavor. Chicken stir fried- 1/5. Salty as hell, could only eat 1/4 of the dish. Had to drink a lot of water. To be fair, we'll give this place another try, one day, hopefully the cooks just had an off day, we'll see. For now, 2 and 1/2 stars

Chester C.

Yelp
Haven't been to this location since the pre-pandemic days. You can make it a casual meal with your classic wonton, duck leg noodle, porridge, fried rice, chow fun. They do offer family style dishes and if you're in the mood to splurge with the family they offer a meal for 10 between $400-$3600, progression of price just better luxury items. If you're not in the mood for that regular HK style cafe food is available

Alex D.

Yelp
I've been here many times. This is the first time I really remembered to give a review. Even compared to my other visits, everything was so consistent. 1) The food was piping out and made fresh. I had the crispy noodles and the beef noodle soup. Beef noodle soup had tender chunks of beef. The beef and the soup were aptly seasoned and not too salty. The vegetable was nice and crispy. The flavor of the broth was spot on. Light and tasty. The noodles, were crispy and the seafood wasn't fishy at all. The consistent y of the gravy was just right. 2) The place was busy but the service was still good. Many Chinese people come here, but the staff can understand English and they are friendly unlike some authentic Chinese establishments. 3) The restaurant is clean. Not dirty at all. Well kept.

Anne L.

Yelp
The service was meh...they had about four or five servers but everybody is busy doing something. There was a lady, she saw us sitting there with our menu closed signifying we made up our mind and ready to order but didn't ask us if we were ready. We had to flag down a waiter to order. But then when we were ready to pay and leave, she was so eager. Even offer us dessert. Ordered the wonton noodle, half of a roasted duck, and beef tomato rice. The roasted duck was good, crispy skin. The wonton noodle had a heavy taste of lye water. The beef tomato rice looked like chef was in a hurry. Sautéed a little and pour in the sauce and we're done.

Mary L.

Yelp
I've been here multiple times in hopes the experience will get better. They are usually not busy, one or two tables max but majority of the time it is pretty empty. The younger taller waiter with glasses is so nice. The big face lady with the glasses has a pretty big attitude and would take forever to serve. If you ask her over, she would be severely inpatient and slap the menu and remind you to tip since she provided service. The worst part is the short stubby waiter with glasses who is super loud. He's always yelling and he can definitely escalate to screaming at times in the kitchen. One time, after he woke up and came out of the room after sleeping, he started yelling at everyone. Perhaps he is the manager, but it really hurts the ambiance of the restaurant. Plus, I don't appreciate him pocketing tips himself. I notice every time I tip in cash, he would pocket it. Literally puts the 20 in his pocket. As for the food, it is a hit and miss, if you come here consistently enough, you'll know the flavors and quality of food is very inconsistent. It is very unfortunate.

Nelson H.

Yelp
When you feel like to have classic roast bbq pork n duck ... this is the place to have a quick lunch!! Plus I've a coconut pudding for dessert!!

Vanna T.

Yelp
Service: ONE OF THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! DO NOT GO HERE! They will ignore you when you enter the restaurant, take a very long time to ask what you want to order, and make you wait to get the check to pay and leave. All of their utensils and plates/bowls are dirty and looks contaminated. It was one of the most awful dining in experience we ever had at any restaurant. Food: We ordered the bbq pork fried rice and diced filet mignon. Both had no flavor and was super greasy and salty. The bbq pork rice had only tiny pieces of meat and the rice had a spoiled scent to it. We couldn't even eat it because it was so nasty. The filet mignon had a bunch of fatty meats and the sauce had a weird sour taste to it. We couldn't eat it either because it was not appealing. We were super hungry when we came here for dinner, but couldn't eat any of the disgusting food and went to get tacos instead which is way more appetizing.

Yelp
Back in September 2022, we celebrated Grandparents Day with my Mom and my brothers + family. I wanted to try a new restaurant this time around. So I went on Yelp and searched for restaurants with 4-5 stars ratings. I found Ho Kee Cafe in Arcadia with 4 stars at the time... great! Most of the reviews were good, but obviously I didn't pay attention to the below 4 stars rating. Higher stars don't mean diddly folks!... excuse my french LOL. It's just one's perspective on their own experience. SERVICE was the WORST I have ever experienced as a customer at a restaurant. We were in one of the individual private rooms. The staff was friendly at first, but then they drifted off to no where's land. After they delivered all the dishes... they never returned to check back on us to ask if we needed anything else. We had to wave them down every single time. And when we did get their attention and asked for what we needed, it took them forever to get back to us with the items. I ended up walking out of the room to get the bowls, containers, basically anything we needed... myself... I wasn't shy about it. UNBELIEVABLE!!! FOOD was mediocre in taste and flavor overall. There were a few dishes that stood out, but I have eaten better. Prices were very pricey. Portions were small... the dishes could have been in bigger portions especially at them high prices. 1. Chicken black mushroom porridge was bland. 2. Salt and pepper chicken wings were decent. 3. Filet mignon french style was good. 4. Stomach boiling (kidney) was overcooked. 5. Salt and pepper squid was not bad. 6. Chinese broccoli with dried fish was tasty. 7. Sweet and sour pork ribs were okay. 8. Beef chow fun black bean sauce was very tasty and probably the best dish! 9. Yang chow fried rice needed more wok flavor. 10. Pule ribs had a distinct taste maybe because it was plum sauce flavor that we're not used to eating... we normally get the black bean sauce. 11. Something chicken... don't remember... we were debating if it was fish or chicken because it was debatable LOL... verdict is chicken per receipt LOL. 12. Honey walnut shrimp was very good. 13. Singapore style house fried rice vermicelli was flavorful. Total bill came out to be over $230+ after tax before tip. I just rounded it up to an amount that I thought was fair for the lack of service they provided. A gentleman who works here had the audacity to ask me to give at least 10% tip. I said NO... you're kidding me... not when we had to service ourselves. They should be giving us a tip for saving them a trip and some effort! They were lucky they even got a tip from us... 10% my you know what (excuse my french again! LOL)... my goodness! LOL Just as a side note, they weren't even busy at all. I don't expect 5 star dining type of service all the time... the standard service will do... we just need some bowls so we can eat our porridge LOL. Lack of or no service is a NO NO in my book! I'm not the type to make a scene or make a big fuss about it right there and then... but when I don't return to your business, then you know you have lost a customer for life LOL. When you run a business, RUN IT to keep your customers not stir them away! Here's a tip for you... serve others the way you want to be served yourself! WE WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE TO EAT AGAIN! Not even at another Ho Kee Cafe. If I can give them a negative 5 stars rating, I would... you know I would LOL. Anyway, you're more than welcome to give them a try. You may get lucky to receive better service and better foods. I guess the reviewers who gave 4+ stars rating got really lucky or they just don't care for the bad service and just focused on the foods. Anyway, GOOD LUCK! P.S. Funny, this place currently has an overall 3.5 stars rating. Per a Chinese celebrity, he says always go for the 3.5 stars rating restaurants because bad service and great tasting foods balance each other out, hence, 3.5. Never fails. My 1 star review may have put this Ho Kee Cafe over the top at 3.5 LOL. You're welcome! LOL

Yelp
Visitation Rights: Been here a handful of times to eat in or order take out. Parking/Location: A decent amount of parking spaces and is located near Nest Tea. You'll be able to see the restaurant when you're drive on Las Tunas Dr.. Ambiance/Decor: Neat decor with modern furnishings. You can dine in, but most be people order to go. Service: Service is good and the staffers are friendly and attentive. Food comes out at a decent time also. Food Of Choice: Recently, we got the family meal (3 dish + 1 soup). We ordered A. Pretty good portions. Westlake beef soup: Westlake beef soup. 1/2 duck: Ducks is tender and in my mind it's better than Sam Woo. With every duck, their should be some "crack" sauce (plum sauce) in hand. Stir fry choy sum: They are part of their garlic/sauteed seasonal veggies. It's quite flavorful and crunchy. Ching du pork ribs: Absolutely delicious. Tastes like sweet and sour. If you don' like the fried stuff, you can painstakingly take them out on every single piece. Food For Thought: Would love to come back to try more food items.

Yelp
Authentic Chinese Cuisine. You cannot go wrong coming to Ho Kee Cafe if you craving some Chinese food. The interior aesthetics are quite nice, but may need a little revamping. The service was good, with them checking up on us occasionally. Food was tasty, but comparing to other restaurants, the portion size here is a little smaller. But the quality of food delivers.

Kevin W.

Yelp
Ho Kee is a chain resturant in SGV. This location is on the border of Arcadia/TC next to the Big Lots plaza. Located in a small plaza, with a small parking lot. Very busy during breakfast time. It was packed and they have good amount of seating inside. Ordered over the phone and food was ready on time. Breakfast Combo - $10.99, Brisket Noodle Soup & Chow Fun Supreme Breakfast Combo - $10.99, Wonton Noodle Soup & Chow Mein Supreme Breakfast combo is a great deal. You build your own combo with the choices they have. Basically a soup and side dish. The combos above were huge portions. Very good, well made, cafe dishes. Will be a go to going forward!

Mandy W.

Yelp
On a random weekday, my mom shared her craving for roasted duck and Ho Kee delivered. Their roasted duck is freakishly delicious, and makes for such an incredibly satisfying meal with paired with rice. We enjoyed it for several days to come. Highly recommend their fried tofu and walnut shrimp as well. The sauce the fried tofu comes is tasty with a bit of spice, and their shrimp is quite large with walnuts with a bite! Excited to try more from Ho Kee.

Ash Y.

Yelp
this place is pretty good for their hong kong style food and i would recommend it if you're looking for some solid comfort food. the service is good and they're generally not too busy. there is plenty of indoor seating and it's decent looking. my favorite thing to order here is the beef udon because of how flavorful it is. they also have really fresh shrimp on occasion which comes with shrimp eggs as well and they're huge and juicy. i'll definitely be coming again as it seems generally clean and the food is good.

Denny L.

Yelp
So damn yummy! When I have that craving for HK Cantonese food, I want the food to come out hot, looking exactly like what I know and full of the dragons breathe essence. That was my exact experience when my food arrived! Also, the lemon iced tea is sooo good, but wait. They give refills!!! Parking is super easy and the place is clean with good service. Stop in for a meal asap!

Lucy Z.

Yelp
We have been there at least 10 times . This time it was hard to get a waiter or waitress to take our order since they were kind of busy. The male waiter charged 50 cents for a Milk tea to go cup without telling me first. It is so weird that I have never experienced this kind of charge anywhere. I wont return for a while.

Alfie L.

Yelp
I thought they were famous for the roast duck, unfortunately I was super disappointed. the skin was not crispy and meat was lukewarm and unflavorful. service is slow and inattentive. I guess the reviews are mixed, so this place is a hit and miss. definitely don't bother with the roast duck, you will get better quality duck elsewhere.

Whitney W.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my experience with my visit. They have 2 menus, one with all the expensive ingredients like abalone, birds nest etc. the other one has the usual everyday dish. Of course I went with the later one. We ordered thousand year egg and pork congee: 5 star, very delicious, they make it the traditional style, meaning the pork were cooked as a whole Chunk, then later spread out after it's fully cooked in the congee. Some other restaurants now precut the pork and put it in the last to make sure it's still tender. Some people like it that way, but I like how it's made from Ho Kee. Duck drawl: 4 star, delicious Beef rice flat noodle: 4 star, clear but flavorful soup. Chicken and ginseng soup: 5 star, sweet and delicious traditional Cantonese style soup. Clear broth with good ingredients Vegetable in broth: 4 star, very good flavor, a little bit oily Roasted Pigeon: 5 star, loved it Portion: 5 star Service: 5 star, friendly and prompt service, get things done fast Perfect place for family or friends gathering since the portion of their dishes are sooo big.

Yelp
-- at Ho Kee Cafe (Arcadia, CA).

Fried Tofu - SOO GOOOOD. This brings me back to my memories in HK. Perfect crisp on the outside and silky smooth on the inside. Good shape and puff. Not deflated like others I've had in the States. The sauce was great. Not too salty, not too bland. Not too oily, not boring. It was perfect. The green onions on top just brought the whole together. I would come to this restaurant again just to get this dish again. Duck - It was decent, but definitely on the drier side. I've had better and probably won't order this again. Wonton Noodle - Simple and good. The wontons were a little saltier, but I didn't mind because the broth helped balance it out. Tung Vegetable dish - Decent veggies. You really can't go wrong with this dish.

Yelp
Craving roasted duck??? Come here, NOW (: what an unexpected surprise. The half duck portion was generous and had that delectable crispy skin. We also had minced pork with green beans for our veg', lolz. And we also had hot and sour soup. All of it very good. The servers were very helpful. And they generously topped off our meal with a lovely red bean and tapioca dessert soup. Soooooo good and satisfying.

Yelp
We visited around CNY and you can tell a lot of "regulars" dine here. The customers would be giving the workers red envelopes so I see that as a good sign. We had just returned from a trip from Ecuador and we were totally craving Canto food. We've visited this location before, but definitely 1st time dining in since the pandemic. We ordered: char siu, west lake soup, bok choy veggies with crab meat, kung pao chicken, and walnut shrimps. They were out of roast duck that night we visited, so I was a bit bum. Alas, the food was great and our tummies were happy. Lotsa leftovers because don't cook so we always order extra. From seeing other reviews, I see many complaint of bad customer service. I know it happens often with Canto restaurants, however we've never experience it here and they are always attentive.

Yelp
Stopped by one Saturday night around 8:30p. We were seated right away and the staff were super kind! There are private rooms on both sides of the restaurant for large parties, and us regular patrons in the middle had a good laugh at some of the muffled karaoke emanating from the rooms. My friend and I had been craving Peking Duck and had to call a few restaurants to make sure they had some available. Ho Kee Cafe let us get a half order, which was perfect, and we also got the minced chicken and corn soup. Delicious! The duck was surprisingly juicy. We washed it all down with huge refillable coffee milk teas. Love this place, and would come back again soon. Parking was also super easy. They have a small lot; there's a huge parking area for Big Lots next door but it is not connected.

Yelp
Rude staff: tried to order over the phone and the man who answered barely spoke & understood English. After repeating a dish 3 times, he mumbled something and hung up. I had heard about this from others before but I now know for myself. Maybe the San Gabriel location is better.

Yelp
Definitely some good eats here. I'd recommend everyone to get a prefix menu for your large group of 10 or more as everything is a tasty treat. We came here for my annual dinner white elephant and we got a party of 30 for the event but at the same time we had picky eaters and people on a tight budget so it made it hard so we broke it down to three tables. One table was prefix with all the seafood dishes and it came out to roughly $45 per head then we had a table that was family style which had mainly non fish or shellfish and that came out to $22 per person then our last table it was individual bill for each person. Nobody shared and each ordered paid for whatever they wanted for themselves. Personally I'd go prefix or family style but I wanted to appease everyone. I was too busy that I forgot to take any photos really but everything was good and I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
I've been to Ho Kee before and the food is always solid. My review this time is for the roast duck as takeout. I ordered through Uber Eats for pickup. The restaurant was very fast to prep the food and the half roast duck had a very excellent amount of meat. Some places may try to pass by with boney parts but they gave a reasonable number of meat for $20. The one downside is that the duck is pretty oily and lots of sauce/oil at the bottom of the box for a roast duck but you gotta give it to them for making it tasty despite the greasyness. Note the half duck doesn't come with rice so make sure to add to your order if you need.

Yelp
I went to HoKee at lunch time, service here was kinda inattentive. I tried wonton noodle soup, rice roll and a roasted duck. All the food was good. I will be back to try something else.

Yelp
If you're looking for some tasty food, and you want it delivered to your table with an unbelievably short waiting period, AND you don't want to worry about insufficient parking availability when you arrive to receive said tasty food ... this place is for *you*! On the other hand, if you're looking for a restaurant that has comfortable seats and is not quick to rush you out with the check (despite only 1 other table actually having diners sitting at it) ... you *might* want to consider patronizing Sam Woo or May Mei instead.

Yelp
We chose this restaurant for a gathering with friends. After being on cruise for nearly a week, we were missing our Cantonese food. We arrived for an early dinner with no wait for our party of 6. This location is much more spacious than the original one in SG. There are more tables which are able to accommodate large groups. They also have a private dining room. The staff was attentive and friendly. They checked on us periodically and offered refills on our lemon teas. We ordered several dishes amongst our group to enjoy family style. The menu is extensive with so many options. For our entrees we ordered: ****West Lake Beef Soup - a good starter with beef and cilantro. The broth was very flavorful. ****Family Style Tofu - crispy bean curd with light soy sauce. Healthy and delicious. ****Stir Fried Choy Sum - sautéed in garlic. One of my faves. ***Braised Pork Belly - savory and tender pork belly braised to perfection. Delicious! ****Shrimp Chow Fun with Egg - classic dish that never fails. Flat rice noodles stir fried with shrimp and topped with egg (wet style). So good! *****Roast Duck (whole) - the best! The duck is prepared in house so it's definitely fresh. The meat was tender and juicy. The skin retained a nice and crispy texture. Dip it in the sauce - excellent! It was our first time dining here and we thoroughly enjoyed every dish ordered! We will be back again!

Yelp
Came by tonight and really enjoyed their fish and their shrimp. And an extra star for having a very clean and sanitized restroom.

Yelp
We found this on yelp as we were looking for a Chinese spot near home. I'm so happy we found it. We ordered green beans, walnut shrimp, orange peel chicken, Mongolian beef, bbq pork, half roast of duck, bbq pork fried rice, war wonton soup, and steamed rice. The green beans were really garlicky. The other dishes were delicious and devoured. It was ready pretty quickly to pick up to go. It was still warm when we brought it home. I definitely want to try other items as well.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite joints in SGV for quick and delicious traditional HK style food. They are friendly staff, efficient, and clean. The food is packaged neatly when you order togo and they provide all the fixings. Very affordable as well.
