**This review is based on a take-out order, usually which I find to be a very small factor in how a restaurant should be reviewed, but I wanted to chime in anyhow**
So after reading several reviews of Ho Ting from fellow Yelpers, I decided to order the Singapore Rice Noodles for lunch take-out. The restaurant is a little tiny, with the counter no more than 3-4 feet from the door, albeit slightly to the right. The gentleman at the register quickly took my order, processed my payment, and I waited for about 10 minutes before my order was ready. In the interim, I didn't ask for water or anything, but at the same time, I wasn't offered any either. =]
The noodles themselves were pretty good, (I got wide rice noodles) coated with a thin layer of yellow curry powder and sautéed with medium-sized shrimp, julienne BBQ pork, bell peppers and bean sprouts. The shrimp were okay if a little small, and it tasted like the BBQ pork may have been left over from a main dish featuring it, slightly dried out. The price of the dish was decent, but you usually have to remember that at most Asian restaurants, the dishes are meant to be shared, unless you get the lunch or dinner specials. Needless to say, I had a lot left over, enough to make it another meal - for dinner or lunch the next day.
I think Ho Ting is a nice lunch spot if you're in the mood for Chinese - you could get in, get out, and back to work within 30-45 minutes. It's one of the few choices for Chinese in the Pilot Knob/Yankee Doodle area, and fits its niche just fine. If you're in the area, give it a whirl, but I probably wouldn't make my way out here from anywhere farther than about 10 minutes away.
