Find all that you crave and more on its large menu that features soups, salads, sandwiches, and Mexican comfort eats. 15 of the Nerdiest Restaurants and Bars on the Planet

"At the end of a peculiar L-shaped turn off Houston’s bustling Richmond Avenue sits the nerdiest neighborhood gem in town. The Hobbit Café—so-named for its impressive array of Lord of the Rings memorabilia—is a piquant pitstop for anyone interested in a sandwich based on one of the most successful fantasy series in history.  For nearly 50 years, the Hobbit Café has served its hefty gastropub fare and diverse beer selection smack in the middle of Texas’s largest city. Vegetarian for the first four years of its existence—a notable feat in longhorn-and-barbecue country—the menu, which opens with Tolkien’s iconic description of the Hobbit species, now also serves carnivores. Unceasingly, the cuisine is served in the same hobbit-sized (that is to say, huge) portions as before. The restaurant plays host to classically Tex-Mex cuisine, with a Tolkienian twist. From nachos to fish tacos to their Balrog burger, the Hobbit now serves something for everyone. A favorite of some celebrities and beloved by Houston, the café offers a haven from the hubbub of the city, with outdoor seating bedecked by holiday lights year-round. Of course, that’s if you don’t want to sit on the sheepskin throne just inside the door." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Houston’s 16 Most Iconic Restaurants - Eater Houston

"One of Houston’s first vegetarian restaurants, Hobbit Cafe is still serving up fresh veggie-friendly eats almost 50 years later. Alongside dishes like The Gandolf, a cheesy mushroom and avocado sandwich, Hobbit now boasts an impressive menu of burgers, including the Fires of Mount Doom, topped with chorizo, hatch chile queso, sliced serrano and cilantro. The restaurant, located in an old house with a tree-shaded patio, has also become known for its extensive craft beer menu." - Megha McSwain

Google
Was lucky enough to find a parking spot in the front so I can’t speak on ease of parking. Immediately you can tell it’s a hobbit themed restaurant. There’s plenty of seating outside but inside is visually pleasing. No wait time on getting seated. Staff was very friendly and even took our picture on the character cut out they have near the entrance. Food was good and has plenty of options to choose from. Their beer was delicious as well. Definitely a must visit if you like the hobbit even a little. Dr. Pepper rating is a 9/10

Google
Food was tasty. We got to the restaurant early Sunday morning and a line was already forming so if you get here, I suggest coming early due to limited parking. Food was tasty with larger portions. We each had a burger and had a chocolate cake for dessert. I would recommend this place alone due to their extensive menu of meads and food.

Google
Such a cute place! I loved the service and the food as well. I got the unsolicited mead, elk burger and chocolate cake. They were all delicious. The interior was LoTR themed, which is super cool. The staff was really friendly too.

Google
This place is so cool and nostalgic for any Lord of the Rings fan. It has super cool and captivating memorabilia of the lord of the rings books and movies. Every room is interesting and there is so much to look at. The food names are based on the books and are fun to read on the menu. The food itself is really tasty and they give you really large portions for the prices. They make the lemonade fresh and it’s really good. They have merchandise to purchase which consists of shirts, cups, and other things. They have a large patio area and great drink specials.

Google
This place is worthy of the journey. The food is amazing, the Mead is cold and plentiful and the staff was loving and kind. I'd recommend this place to anyone. (Side note I had a vegetarian meal...... My first every.,. It was amazing) Be careful of the portion size! Everything is huge, I would suggest sharing if possible.

Google
Been awhile since we went, but this place was pretty good I had to review. The place itself has a good amount of seating but we went on a busy day so there was a wait of 15-30 minutes depending on party size and the parking was a little more packed. The decor was really nice, especially if you like the Lord of the Rings and had both inside and outside seating. The host people were nice and informative and our waitress was also nice and adorable, the food itself was good and with amusing names. Next time I return I'll most likely buy The Morgoth Burger since this time I wasn't too hungry lol

I ate here way back in the 70's when it was strictly vegan and it was great, and i've never been vegan. Now they cater to everyone. Even better! My wife and I decided to try the beef and chicken fajitas with lots of grilled bell peppers and onions and a side plate of rice, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, pico de gallo and black beans. I picked flour tortillas to go with these goodies. We were amazed at how good this was and plentiful. I had to get an a la carte shredded chicken enchilada with mole sauce...this was another 5 star menu item. We shared a glass of Eureka Heights Buckle Bunny beer...yum! We'll be back and I won't take as long this time. Great service by Gabe, he made us feel welcome.

Google
Totally whimsical and absolutely love this place had a big fan of the Lord of the rings and love that there’s a hobbit Café with healthy options and regular ass hamburgers for people who eat omnivore style. Each of the item seem to be a reference to something either from the hobbit or the Lord of the rings and really love all of the little ties and decoration around the whole building some of the staff is rude, but some of the staff is awesome. What are you gonna do humans or humans and hobbits are hobbits.

Yelp
If you're looking for an upscale place with white linen napkins and waiters in black tie then this is not your joint. If you love an old school Hobbit themed menu and staff that have pointed ears and are very friendly then this is your vibe! They were very nice and did their best to absolutely help all of the diners on a Saturday evening to be seated and served as quickly as possible. While we were there for a little longer than we normally would be, that just gave us more time to take in the scenery, and chit chat amongst ourselves. Unfortunately with the gemrification of this area I cannot imagine that these little restaurants will last more than another 5 years so do everyone a favor and go get yourself a great carnivore or vegan burger today!

Yelp
Don't come at me hobbit fans, but I was pretty disappointed! Maybe if circumstances were different, we would have had better experience. We came in with a party of 8 for a Saturday lunch. We waited about 20 minutes to get seated in a little back room with no other tables. At first we thought that was great! that was until we realized that we were easily forgotten back there. It took a while to get our waters and for the waitress to take our appetizers orders. In hindsight we should have ordered our main courses at that same time. The appetizers were ok, the chips and quest were good, the quest was hot when we got it. The Jalapeño poppers were hot too! Those were actually pretty good too. I ordered the egg salad sandwich and it was kinda dry. It came with more guacamole than egg salad which was super odd. I got my sandwich last which was weird too since mine didn't actually involve any real cooking, it was a cold sandwich. My friend's cheeseburger was so cold that the cheese had actually already gotten like congealed on it, and the lettuce and tomatoes were soggy from sitting under the meat patty. On top of all of this they did legit forget about us back in that room. I know there were 8 of us, but this meal should not have taken over 2 hours like it did.

Yelp
The place itself is very cozy. Everything is based on lord of the rings which I appreciate cause it's actually one of my favorite movies. Even the glasses has hobbit cafe on it and movie posters everywhere. The food is decent. Just a regular burger and fries with chili sauce. It lacked seasoning and all it showed for was the size. I tried the mead flights and it was mid as well. I thought it was overpriced for how much they poured for. The server was very nice and attentive though. It was cool to say I tried to place but I wouldn't recommend unless it's their favorite movies of all time

Yelp
LOTR fangirl here!! Can't believe it took me years before dining here. The decorations did not disappoint! Our waitress dressed like one of the elves; super friendly. Great service; food came out quick on a rainy weekday evening. I ordered the Meadle-Earth burger (caramelized mead mushroom & onions w/ goat cheese and arugula). Also added sweet potatoes as a side. The burger was super delicious. Wish the fries were more crispy but still enjoyed them. Definitely will come back at some point!

Yelp
We had a nice patio weather day so we enjoyed some time at the hobbit cafe. The menu has a large variety of food. We had The Dwalin with the Balin upgrade, the salad bowl with curry chicken and chicken fajitas. From the kids menu we got the cheeseburger and it was a good sized meal for my nephew. Service was fast and the music was enjoyable. We even got some hobbit merch from their store inside.
google avatar

Terra S.

Yelp
This place is so bomb! Especially if you love LOTR but even if you don't you'll love the mead! So many flavors to choose from I got a flight, but I had the waitress help me pick a few! Her choices were better than mine! Great service! Me and my friend split the appetizer platter with quesadillas, jalapeño, poppers, fried pickles, chicken, wings, etc. So good! Love all the decor with the movie posters and gollum! Throne is fun too! Love the dragon on to as well! Next time, I'm in town, I'm definitely going back!
google avatar

Christa C.

Yelp
This place was a neat find for lord of the ring fans! We had a group of 10 and it took about 35 minutes to be sat outside. Staff was friendly and the general feel for the place was very chill. They have an extensive menu, but burgers seem to be their speciality. Most of the menu items have a reference to a character in LOTR. The purple drink was not good (tasted like sunblock), but everything else was good. I wouldn't say anything was outstanding, but it wasn't bad either - just your typical American cuisine.
google avatar

Katrina M.

Yelp
My experience here was mixed, but the Lord of the Rings decor and huge mead collection makes this a fun place to bring out-of-town friends. There's a realistic Gollum statue, a photo-op, and other fun decorations immediately upon entering the cafe, but we didn't get a chance to enjoy the ambiance during our meal. Even though we were seated "inside," we ended up in a small room that looks like it used to be a patio, just off the main dining room. It felt cramped and sticky in there with barely any LotR decor, so eating out there felt somewhat disappointing. The food also isn't the prettiest sight, but my cousins really enjoyed the soup and ended up ordering seconds. I loved their huge mead collection and we enjoyed making our own flight. My personal favorite was a mead that tasted just like peanut butter and jelly! Our poor waitress was the only server on the floor for a full house of customers, but she still did a great job and was prompt with everything. I'd come back again for the mead. - Ambiance: 2/5 (sticky and cramped) - Decor: 5/5 - Food: 3/5 - Mead/drinks: 5/5 - Service: 4/5 (quick but understaffed)

Yelp
The Hobbit Cafe offers fresh dishes including stacked burgers; huge, hobbit-sized sandwiches; nachos; seafood, like shrimp and fish; and a variety of stellar breakfast and brunch options. They have a large wooden deck and a giant oak tree and claims to be one of the best places in Houston to enjoy a brew. They have an ever-changing list of Hobbit-approved beers and wines, and you're guaranteed to find something you'll love. We did!!!! If you're into brunch, The Hobbit is the place to be on the weekend. Some of their celebrity guests over the years have included Mama Cass (formerly with The Mamas & The Papas), Peter Max, Neil Young, Governor Connally, Jack Nicholson, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Depeche Mode. We've even celebrated a birthday with Woody Harrelson. If food, friends, wine and good times are what you're looking for, The Hobbit is ready to deliver -- what are you waiting for go and experience Tolkien's Shire for yourself. Tell them Dena Blue sent you and be sure to wink when you say it.

Yelp
I just threw portion control and my diet into Mordor and I'm not mad at it. The Hobbit Cafe is a quaint spot that's been around for years. Toilken themed characters inhabit the menu, the menu is expansive and the portions are Sauron sized. One small quibble, read the menu closely. A few extra charges that I didn't expect but overall, i'd return to the shire.
google avatar

Rachel B.

Yelp
Very fun-themed cafe located in an old creaky building. We were very impressed by the quality of the food. We ordered a mead flight, both blueberry and strawberry lemonades, Fellowship platter, and onion rings. Everything tasted fresh and like the ingredients were selected for quality.
google avatar

Paty T.

Yelp
We only went for coffee and dessert, so we haven't eaten the rest of the menu. Their Key lime pie is one of the BEST I have ever eaten! My daughter and husband got carrot cake and have the same opinion. Their hibiscus cold tea was superb! We'll be back to taste their main menu. Yummy!
google avatar

Courtney W.

Yelp
Fun little themed restaurant! Lots of cool decor if you're a Hobbit fan. Workers are nice, food came out after a reasonable amount of time. They've got a lot of different types of mead, which is fun to try! For food I got the fish tacos. The tacos themselves were decent, I liked that it came with salsa and a mango pico. The rice was very dry and the black beans were nothing special. My friend got a burger and fries- her fries were super crispy and a nice portion. There are many burger options, including vegetarian options. There's a parking lot and I was able to get a spot on a weeknight.
google avatar

Sarah T.

Yelp
This place is a tourist trap. We came with friends from out of town. The decor is fun but I wish there was more of an ambiance to it but it's just some LOTR decor around. It seems like the decor and the names of the dishes is what makes it the Hobbit Cafe? We enjoyed the decor. The food was decent. Nothing amazing that stood out. There were a couple of things the server missed and when I asked for one of them, it was met with indifference. My toddler never got the order of fruit we asked for. It just seems like there wasn't a lot of care in the service we received and the food was mediocre at best. Worth a stop once to say you've been there but we won't be going back.

Yelp
First off; adorable place decor wise!! You really are in the shire! The service was amazing and so friendly! Now the food. W.o.w. My husbands word was "phenomenal ". My son scarfed down his boudin burger before I could get a picture. The menu is vast with a great selection for herbivores and carnivores alike! The selection of meads available was crazy! The only downside if I have to say is the really loud ladies next to us. And that's not hobbits fault. lol We can't wait to return to this unique eatery in Houstons montrose district :)
google avatar

Yelp
Restaurant is super cute. You definitely feel like you are eating inside someone's cottage and it is Hobbit themed. This restaurant does not serve alcohol but you can get sake and wine. Staff was super friendly. And the food was pretty good.
google avatar

Elizabeth A. H.

Yelp
The outside eating area was the perfect spot to enjoy a nice dinner. Our waitress was helpful. she was able to answer all of our questions and make great recommendations. The Mordor Hummus platter was huge, great and tasty. The Tolkien bowl with curry, chicken, salad, and grilled vegetables was huge and tasted great.
google avatar

Roma B.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a weekday. Really cute cafe! Easy parking out front too. They have a bunch of options. Got the burrito, was stuffed well. Hash browns added a nice crunch. Portion size was huge too. Will be coming back to try their mead.
google avatar

Yelp
no matter how busy they are, the wait is short! the food comes out fast! i had dinner with a vegan and he said the fellowship appetizer was the best greek food ever! i loved the boudin burger.....but breakfast is worth my 50 minute drive south into houston! special thanks to demi and ari! these keepers of the restaurant were among the best i have experienced in the city! tell all your friends to try the hobbit "hole" cafe!!!
google avatar

Natasha K.

Yelp
We were in town for the weekend and my friend wanted to stop here. I'm not a LOTR fanatic so it was less fascinating for me but she seemed to enjoy the decor. We came for some smoothies on a hot day and they were just okay, nothing special. Prices were good and the patio looks like it would be awesome on a cooler day, definitely not in the summer though. Interesting situation at the end of our visit. We went to the front to buy a shirt and the cashier couldn't ring us up and had to find a manager to do it. Apparently you're supposed to buy the merch when you're ordering your food? Odd. Seems like something that should be addressed.
google avatar

Moriah H.

Yelp
Warning: Hobbit Cafe uses styrofoam for takeout boxes. Cute dinner spot with good food and special ambiance for the nerd in your life. The staff is super friendly here. The bathroom needs some repair work done. I ordered the falafel wrap with fruit and several pieces of fruit came out with aged/moldy spots (not really mold but brown/soggy). Wasn't a huge deal - I just cut off a corner from a couple of strawberries. I got free refills on my hot tea. My family really enjoyed this meal overall.

Missy W.

Yelp
Great food, nice people, and I love the ambiance. Favourites are Lonely Mountain Fajita Nachos, Lake-Town Shrimp Rolls, Mirkwood Black Bean Burger, and Radagast's Mushroom Burger. The soup is always vegetarian and always delicious.

Yelp
Place definitely gives nostalgia feel. Food was good, little overwhelming but nevertheless was good. Ale's and ciders were phenomenal, and service was attentive and knowledgeable. Some things to consider: this restaurant is not as immersive as I would like as a Tolkien fan. I would make it look like a grotto or bilbos hobbit hole as in the movies. They should be serving the food on plates and things that give you that Middle earth feel. It was a little underwhelming because I want to pay for the experience. If it had more to see and experience I would go back, but it's definitely something I'd really only go once to say I went. This place would be insanely successful more so if they brought the middle earth life more into your time there. Also, parking is a bit on the terrible side, but not much you can do being in that location. I have 4/5 stars because even though it's a wonderful idea in theory, and my service was to be expected dining out, I could've used more immersion and less crazy burger joint with Tolkien sorta sprinkled in the top.
google avatar

Teri N.

Yelp
It was my first time here and it is a bit pricey. My partner and I said we would definitely go again but special occasions though if we are back in the area. I ENJOYED the burger. My sister and my partner both liked their burgers also. Service was good for us. Ambiance was alright.

Yelp
Had a nice time here. The place was clean, staff was friendly and food was good. Obviously my favorite part was all the hobbit theme
google avatar

Jonathon G.

Yelp
I haven't been here in over 6 years. But till this day I'll continue to say that you'll definitely get the moser bang for your buck here. I can't fit my mouth around this burger. I can't finish that plate of fries. Realistically if I were indeed to be trekking to Mordor I would need a meal this big. You don't have leftovers anywhere else you go! Wheat bun for those wondering, and that pattie doesn't have a hollow spot in it. Perfect for your your relaxing times at the prancing pony or an afternoon in the shire. As Gandalf once said. A burger is never finished all at once. It's finished simply when it is time to be finished. I love this place. Always have and always will.
google avatar

Yelp
Visited on a Saturday and the place was pretty busy. First time inside, and I'd love to visit again for drinks. The lamb burger was really good! Fruit even better, definitely enjoyed the pleasant mixture of the feta and mayo

Demi F.

Yelp
Loved coming to Hobbit Cafe ! Came for dinner & got The fellowship platter which was really refreshing. My server was very helpful & suggested me a mead that was delicious! Can't wait to come back with my pup & enjoy their dog friendly patio!! If you ever get the chance to visit you should!

Yelp
If you can believe it, I just recently watched the LOTR (extended edition) movies all the way through for the first time. So obviously I had to check out this restaurant that has been around since 1972! I was surprised this place was so busy. I guess their Sunday brunch is a popular time. They have a small parking lot, but luckily got a spot! We had a 15-20 minute wait but we're able to hangout at their bar to kill some time. All the bartenders and waiters were super nice and informed on their menus. They have a wide variety of food. Highly recommend you check out the hundreds of photos here to see what the food is like as their menus do not have photos. We got seated outside since it was a nice afternoon. If you do too, don't forget to go inside to see all the movie collectibles and spots for photos. The bathroom has some surprises too. Haha.
google avatar

Tim R.

Yelp
Food was great! Large portions at a decent price. The only downside is we had a bit of a larger party, since seating for larger parties inside is limited our wait was pretty long. The large group tables had finished eating but wanted to stay and visit so that was definitely a bummer for us. Wait was about an hour so that could be a possibility for anyone with a large group. Other than that, the drinks were fantastic, food was great, and atmosphere was awesome! Will definitely be going back again.

Yelp
My foodie friend Brenda asked where I want to grab something after the matinees. I was clueless in the area. Since she has been dining with the Hobbits, she suggested Hobbit Cafe. The place is hard to find on GPS. The building was cute. It feels like hobbit will show up. Parking lot is wacky. I ordered 2 fish tacos. The rice was not much, but the fish tacos we're something worth going back. I took one home and the day old taco was tastier than the one at the restaurant.

Yelp
We went for my birthday and 50th anniversary because my friend had never been there but yelps. She got homemade chicken salad and I want to say almond salad that I think were secret menu items you have to request. I got the balrog burger which was delicious and 10/10 recommend. I've been here like a million times and have never had bad service until this visit. The waiter was very rude to us and weren't really sure why. We will be going back of course

Yelp
I came here with some coworkers during a company trip to Houston, and really liked this place, even though it wasn't exactly perfect. It had sort of a dingy feel inside, though I can't quite put my finger on it, it just seemed kind of old and dusty... like the LOTR posters on the wall were cool, but I wouldn't touch it because it looked like they don't clean those things. I opted to sit outside instead which was much better, it was a nice spacious patio, with large tables, so it worked. Besides, most of the LOTR-themed items and decor were in the entryway of the restaurant, when you walk in before being seated, many of it in a display case behind glass, so we weren't really missing much regardless of where we sat. I absolutely loved how diverse the menu was, with cute and clever LOTR names for the various foods and drinks. I didn't order drinks while I was here, but they have so many options for beers, meads, and other beverages. To eat, I ordered Dori's Salmon Burger and chose salad for my side. The salad was the same spring mix that was inside the sandwich, and the caesar dressing was not very good. But the salmon burger was amazing, so delicious, all fresh ingredients, and a perfect balance of flavor with just the right amount of sauce. My vegan friend got the Mirkwood Black Bean Burger with vegan modifications, and she pretty much cleaned her plate and enjoyed her meal as well. Our server was friendly and provided sufficient service during our visit. Other things to note, their menu says they charge a 10% packaging fee for to-go orders, and two split checks max per table. They also have a parking lot for convenience.

Yelp
The food selections and themes are top notch and they don't skimp on anything. The hostess was a little overwhelmed but every table was seated. The wait staff were fun and full of the requested information. The ambiance is a 9.8/10! The film and book memorabilia is well lit, well labeled, and there it is everywhere! (Even the bathrooms) *I've taught this book for over a decade, I'm slowly becoming a Tolkien and C. S. Lewis researcher, and I'm very critical when source materials are not transferred to other mediums effectively. The Hobbit Cafe would make Mr. Underhill a very happy Hobbit! See you at second breakfast!

Yelp
Amazing variety of food. Everything so far has been delicious! If you like Lord of the Rings, then you'll love this place.

Yelp
The food was very good! Love the ambience and atmosphere, the service was a little slow but we were sitting on the patio so that might have been why...

Yelp
So positives first, I am a huge Tolkien fan so that is what brought me to this place. The queso fries were absolutely amazing by far the star of the show. The hummus platter was huge, so definitely could be shared by several people. Now negative - The burger was OK I think maybe I was just way too full by time I got to it the one thing that I really kept me from giving this a five stars was the fact that the decor just seemed a little lacking like I was expecting more, and it seemed a little ran down Overall, I did not have a complaint the food was OK queso fries the best. The main thing if you're coming because of the themed restaurant this is the place to go. If you're coming for the food I've had better.

Yelp
For the record, I was not expecting to love this place so much. Additionally, I did not know until moments before I left my house for my pilgrimage to Hobbit Cafe that it is a Houston institution and has been around for decades. I arrived, fully prepared for corny, tacky Lord of the Rings accoutrement, which I was not wrong about. I was also expecting completely mediocre food. I was wrong about that. First off, their fried pickles may just be the best I've had because they are seasoned so well and super crispy. I love the sauce they pair it with. Moving on, their hickory burger is all I need and more. I have a long-lost restaurant, the late Mason Jar, in a special place in my heart because of their hickory burger - I had resigned to the fact I may never get to enjoy it again. But y'all, this is about as close as you can get. The wheat bun, the perfectly cooked patty, the hickory sauce, cheddar, and raw onion KILL. That burger is absolutely tops and as a bonus, it can be served next to easily the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. This restaurant could stand on its own without the gimmick, so being able to look around at the Shire is just a bonus. Friendly staff and good food make this a solid choice in my book and I'll be back.

Yelp
First visit here because my brother loves Lord of the Rings! I tried mead for the first time too, I prefer its sweetness over beer. The waitress was very friendly & attentive, and there was plenty of seating on Tuesday afternoon. We had jalepeno poppers, & mushroom quesadilla, with a cheese filled spring roll looking appetizer. It was Tuesday so we had to have the fish Tacos which barely had any fish, so we ordered shrimp Tacos as well, which were better. Overall I wasn't a big fan of the food. The mead festival was an interesting experience & the carrot cake was pretty yummy in the end. Happy Yelping!

Yelp
This place is amazing!! It's small, it's themed, creative and most importantly GOOD! Not only do they have a fun LOTR theme in every aspect but the food is good to match the creativity. On top of that they specialize in Mead! The drink of the Vikings (of which is my heritage)! So this place was basically my own personal heaven. The only con for me was that it's a little too vegetarian heavy for my taste. They have meat options like the mount doom burger (which I had) and are delicious however I do not think a dish named after a dwarf of middle earth should be vegetarian. As a fan of LOTR I am a bit of a purist in that I would tailor it all to the lore as closely as possible in this regard. BUT it's their right to make the food how they wish. They proved to be worthy of being an eatery themed after LOTR despite the slightly heavy handed vegetarian tones. I can't wait to come back and try more Mead and take on mount doom again!

Yelp
The Hobbit Café has been around for quite some time. I've been coming here off and on for years, way before I even saw any of the LOTR movies. It is a themed restaurant, but not super tacky as one would think it would be. It was once strictly vegetarian, but has a mixed menu presently. It shares a lot with another restaurant, so parking can be tight at peak times. It's a small restaurant and there can be a wait at times. I've been here quite a few times and customer service has always been great. Alot of items are made in house and the food has always been great. I'm tend to like some sort of meat with every meal, but I always like their Black Bean Nachos to start off with. It a shareable size and oh so delicious. I've made my way through a few of their burgers and sandwiches and they never disappoint. My favorite part of the menu is the South of the Border items especially the Verde Chicken Enchiladas. The tacos are a solid choice as well. I've never had the brunch but I hear it's pretty awesome. Do not come here and not get dessert. Their Key Lime Pie and Carrot Cake are really good. Save room for this! This little hidden gem is a solid choice and I will definitely keep coming back!

Yelp
This place has a unique ambiance and a broad menu with both healthy options and classic bar food. They offered a $3 beer bucket and generous portions. Service was solid, and the food was good, though not exceptional. This is a great place for Lord of the Ring fans.

Yelp
Some good, some not so good. First time visit last week (December 2023), and we ordered the bacon cheeseburger, queso fries, and mixed meat (beef and chicken) quesadilla. The burger was fine, more towards the well-done side, but certainly a substantial size and good taste. The queso fries were crispy, and held up well in the bowl of queso. The quesadilla was, however, disappointing. While the filling was tasty, the tortillas themselves came out limp and soggy. I'm not sure if it was the heat/moisture of the fillings, or the juices from the cooking itself, but the tortillas had a wet texture . We ended up peeling them away and only eating the fillings. I know the restaurant has a very good history, and one dish does not make a menu, so I do plan on returning again soon - but, I'll skip the quesadilla.

Yelp
Delicious food but pricey. $9 for a sliver of pie. And I mean a sliver. Two inches at the wide part. We won't do that again. But the meal itself was divine! And the mead! They have the largest selection of mead in Houston. I chose the Viking blood and it's 19.00 a glass. But that's the sweetest mead I've ever tasted! I would buy a whole bottle of that. The waitress was helpful in my mead selection because I prefer a very sweet drink. She was attentive to our needs and wants. The decor and menu has the Hobbit theme and they could actually do more with that theme on the menu if they wanted. By all means come here for lunch or dinner and be patient. Parking is a challenge. And I suggest backing into your parking space otherwise leaving is a bigger challenge. But the food is worth it. And I hope someday the dessert pie slices get larger if they are going to continue to charge $9.

Yelp
Really good place that is obviously themed LOTR but it's cute and not tacky. The service and food were good. I wasn't blown away by the food but the burger was solid that I would come here again. We also got mead and a smoothie and it was all good.

Yelp
Amazing!!! The Rivendale salmon was the best I ever had. Cooked perfectly, the coconut bits on top were crunchy and delicious and the sauce was delicious!!

Yelp
I went here several years ago with my mom. I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan. It was incredible. Everything was themed so well. They sell the cutest tshirts. I honestly don't remember much about the food because I was so excited about the atmosphere. The menu has several themed dishes and seems to have expanded since I went there (about 5 or 6 years ago). I think I liked my food though. The cashier was happy to answer questions and told me more about the history of the restaurant!
