Drinks and food were delicious. We had a raspberry lemonade and a martini and both were excellent. We got the pretzel bites and they had beer cheese (not on the menu but we asked if they had any). Steak tips and the patty melt were both delicious. Great service and atmosphere. Can't wait ti come back!

Great Place. Good food. Outstanding Service. Great Beer. Large Bar, large dinning area. I enjoyed 'Hold my juice box' , an Imperial IPA 8.5abv. A delicious fruity Hazy NE IPA. Grabbed a few 4 packs to go. They also have a tasty room 11 miles south on RT 16.

The place looked amazing from the outside. Place well taken care of. We opted to enter the tavern instead of the loft upstairs. Greated and directed toward the bar promptly. Bar tender greeted us with a warm welcoming greeting. On looking over them menu, although small, which I didn't mind but it raises the expectations on the food. Poutine was a great portion size. Almost didn't have room for the meals. Shrimp tacos were good, not great, but the portions were more than expectation. My girlfriend ordered the steak and cheese, although it was more bread than filling but solid flavor. The beer was phenomenal. Tucan may be the best Hefewizien I've ever had, and my girlfriends black IPA was very smooth and creamy, not the normal bite you get feom that style. Loved it. The Toast QR payment made the payment process quick and easy. Overall, it was a great experience. I'm looking forward to another visit.

The atmosphere was awesome! We started with fried cheese curds and steak & cheese egg rolls. Delicious and huge portions. My kid ordered chicken fingers as usual, lol. Rest of us had steak tips and meatloaf. Potatoes and green beans were delicious. Steak was cooked just right. Meatloaf was good but heavy. We took our dessert to go. So good and rich. Definitely recommend!

It would seem we might have hit Hobbs on a bad night—but it wasn’t exactly the experience we had hoped for. We knew right up front that something was off when we arrived at 5:10 (10 minutes after opening) and were told it would be a 10 minute wait to allow the waitress to “catch up” despite the many open tables. Our first contact with the waitress was when she came by to deliver water (we had been sitting for awhile already) and tried to her immediately. We literally had to detain her to order drinks and apps. She talked us out of ordering clam chowder as it would “come out at a different time than the poutine” she said—which we had ordered while she was still standing there. It was odd. Not sure if the waitress was pinch hitting (that was our guess) or just new but her behavior was odd and erratic. When the flight of beer was incorrect (which we self remedied by going to the bar as the waitress was no where to be found) the waitress threw the bartender under the bus, stating she didn’t put it in wrong, they poured it wrong. Ordering dinner was interesting—we weren’t asked which salad size we wanted, how we wanted a burger or our salmon cooked. Shame on us for not speaking up about it—but she did ask about how our son wanted his kids steak tips cooked. After our food arrived the waitress swung by once and asked about how throngs were but didn’t really seem interested in our answer…then she literally backed away from the table while staring at us. It was rather awkward and uncomfortable. My dad asked for more tarter sauce for his fish and it wasn’t until the rest of us were done that the waitress remembered to bring it. Prior to leaving I overhead the waitress telling the people behind us she couldn’t serve them water as they had no ice….huh? Then eventually she did but told the patrons not to put their lips on the glasses but to use straws but didn’t say why. As for the food—it was underwhelming and mostly overcooked. The poutine was a heaping pile of fries with a scant few fries cheese curds and the gravy was really really salty. The quinoa salad was bland with little flavor and the piece of salmon on top was fishy smelling and over cooked to where it was nearly inedible. We didn’t attempt to send it back as the wait time for the food had already been painfully long. Our daughter’s burger was over cooked and served on a burnt bun. The chicken on the other salad was dry and over cooked. Our son’s kid’s steak tips were the only shining star. The wait for the check was painfully long—but ironically no issue with quickly running the credit card. All said and done from the time we walked in at 5:10 to walking out it was close to 2 hours. I hope for the sake of the establishment that this was just a bad night for them—we won’t be testing the theory on that any time soon however. For the parents who read this: bathrooms are clean, there are high chairs and booster seats, the general restaurant is a bit noisy so your kids will likely blend in pretty well. There is kids menu with standard kid foods.

The food was decent and the beer was amazing. The bartender we had was one of the best I ever had. Very on top of it I think her name was Riley. She was pretty busy and I appreciate that she at least acknowledged us when we sat down. It's Nice to know you're not just waiting for no reason and they didn't notice lol. All in all the great experience and definitely recommend it.

Google
The food was great, the steak tips were tender and flavorful. The mash potatoes were good, however I am don't care for peppery potatoes. The French fries were great as well as the fried haddock. The service was great, food came out quickly. We enjoyed eating outside on the deck. Our waiter was also attentive and great. Highly recommend this place.

The review I was going to write before having our wedding there is different from what I’m going to write now. We picked Hobbs to have our wedding because the venue is truly unique and intimate. We had a great experience from the beginning with the Event Coordinator, Nicole. We booked over a year in advance. It was great. As soon as we were 6 months out, it went down hill. And we were informed in some changes that should have been communicated with us sooner instead of being ghosted. HOWEVER, with all the annoying things that can put more stress on the bride, we had a GREAT TIME at the wedding. Rob, the general manager made sure we had the PERFECT day and it was truly the best. He was attentive and answered all my 1000 questions and requests. The servers, bartender, and other staff were so friendly! The food was amazing! We got steak tips and chicken Marsala, perfect for a wedding. We were able to set up the day before and the Hobbs team generously piled our things so it made packing up easier. They completely earned their 5 stars after having a little speed bump in our planning process. Also the beer is always amazing.

Yelp
Always looking for a quick and tasty stop on our way home from North Conway. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and were seated right away next to a cool vintage carousel horse. I decided to get a flight and our waitress gave talked me through some of the beer options I was between which I always appreciate. My flight came and I LOVED the IPAs, they were all super hoppy and my favorite two were actually Hobb's own (HiJack and Jacked up, which are meant to be "brothers" so they're similarly tasty) and my partner really enjoyed his margarita. Then the food came... we were blown away!! My partner at his meatloaf so fast I only got a picture of his empty plate. My one complaint is that there are very limited vegetarian entrees, (although there were a few veg appetizers). Nonetheless, I got the veggie burger with Cajun fries and also cleaned my plate! I'm usually skeptical about /veggie/ burgers (as opposed to the "meatier" alternatives like impossible and beyond) but I quite liked this one. The Cajun fries were also beautifully seasoned and perfectly crisp. We throughout enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back!

Craig J.

Yelp
Met up with three friends. The server ( Ella) brought menus and waters. Ask us uf we'd like something to drink and we ordered flights. Ended up ordering 4 appetizers. Which were delicious. Ella kept tabs on us and kept us hydrated. A excellent place for lunch or dinner. Nice not too expansive menu. Something there for everyone. Ella , our server epitomized what a top notch server should be. A definite asset to the tavern.

Yelp
It was a busy evening in this area, with other local restaurants not more taking reservations, so we took our chance at showing up here and we sat at the bar. Glad we did! Excellent drinks $$$ and food $$. The southwest schnitzel was sold out so I ordered the steak and cheese egg rolls and southwest bean sweet potato soup. Delish. Staff were friendly!

Robert P.

Yelp
This is a place to go for drinks and maybe an app. My previous review mentions food, but we only had drinks during g that visit and I guess I assumed wrong that the food would be good. We were a large group and ordered dinner items. Half of the steak sandwich had very little meat, the tartar sauce and sundae brownie dessert both had hair in it. Others in the group were not impressed with their food. Beware that the gluten free (GF) advertised meal came with blue cheese dressing that was not GF. The waitress, Christine, was not the most attentive waitress. She was busy, but it should not have been so difficult to get her attention when we needed something. Will not be returning for meals.

Angeliah C.

Yelp
No stars for customer service!!! We had Christina as a waitress and she was extremely rude. We asked to if we could split the check at the end as a mistake and she very rudely said "um that's something you do in the beginning." I was honestly taken back by this comment because i was extremely nice and she said it in a such a rude manner, if she said it nicer i would completely understand but she did not. ALSO when she came to collect my plate I moved so she would have room to grab it and when she grabbed it she did a "pff" which I thought was also extremely rude. I understand if she had a bad day but you are in customer service please keep the comments to you self until you walk away, coming from someone who works in customer service. I just want to add she did not check up on us once which would be fine if she wasn't so rude. Thank you.

Yelp
The lemonade was really good, and the service was also good. I recommend Hobbs Tavern & Brewing.

Deby C.

Yelp
Nice local people and friendly staff. Good beers and several to choose from. Thursdays food trucks and band if they show up...

Yelp
Always a solid spot for a good dinner when heading through the area. They carry many of their own beers which are good, and the food is fresh and varied. Service is friendly, surprisingly good marg

Matt M.

Yelp
Went in for some apps and dessert. Bar was full so we sat at table. When ordering with waitress she promptly told us that our order was not appropriate for table service and we really should be sitting at the bar, but she would let it slide this time. Apps were mediocre at best but the dessert was good. Not impressed, one and done for me. YMMV.

Yelp
Food was great A little slow but a great atmosphere The cheese curds were delish Great stop heading from North Conway on the way back to Massachusetts

Yelp
I'm not sure how busy this place can get, but stopping here at 4pm on a Monday (during day 1 of our official honeymoon) proved to be promising & there were only a couple customers at the bar. The rest of the place was empty. My husband & I were immediately seated with a view of the back of the restaurant/deck. I have to say that the fried cheese curds are bountiful & the sauce they come with adds something extra. I had the fried haddock sandwich with an upgrade for sweet potato (waffle) fries. My husband built his own burger (which he had fun with, haha) & could hardly finish it. The coleslaw has a bit more of a pepper taste, but it's fresh & good. The restaurant was clean & inviting. We may stop by in our way back home from our honeymoon for lunch. The service was prompt & efficient (which may also be due to the fact it was quiet). P.S. Most of the beer options have a "hoppy" taste or are close to an IPA. I personally dislike it, but just giving a heads up for those like me. Their cocktails are $12.95/ea. which is pretty steep.

Yelp
I ended up driving up here on Labor Day weekend. I figured it would be busy, but when I pulled up there was parking in the front so I was optimistic. I am a big craft beer drinker, and was excited to try a number of their brews. I went and found a seat at the bar immediately and was happy. Unfortunately you took about 15 minutes for one of the two bartenders to actually come over and greet me. They didn't seem overly busy, just overly incompetent. I ordered a flight and an order of boneless wings based on what the people next to me were eating. The beer was OK. It wasn't anything special. The wings were very overpriced and very under flavored. I thought maybe I should've gone to the taproom instead of the restaurant, but I wasn't about to take the chance at spending way too much money again.

Madeline H.

Yelp
Don't have any pictures to include because we inhaled everything in minutes. Whiskey maple wings and steak and cheese eggrolls are an absolute must. The house brewed beer was also great, I had the Hi, Jack IPA and my friends dad had the Toucan wheat beer and both were phenomenal. Great spot if you are in the area! Seems like they have a lot of great live events as well.

Rachel C.

Yelp
We had a large group today for lunch and they accommodated us perfectly. The food was perfect and the speed of service was sufficient. Our server, Brittney, was phenomenal and kept our drinks filled and delivered the food promptly. Would definitely recommend and we will visit again!

Yelp
Wow the nachos were amazing. The winter salad delicious. The chicken and waffles were huge and yummy. Service was insane. Highly recommend this place.

Gerald K.

Yelp
There were 6 of us that stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for drinks. (It is a tavern, right?) The host greeted us in a very lackluster manner after we said we just wanted drinks and said we could go to the bar but there were not many spots open, then checked and said only 5 spots. We asked if we could sit at a table and was told they prefer to keep them open for customers ordering food. (The place was more than half empty) after a long pause she said she would have to go ask her manager if we could sit at a table. We were allowed a table, and we ordered drinks which were fine. When we left there was still over half of the tables open. I'm sure the food is great here even though we didn't eat any, let's just hope it isn't as cold as the way we were greeted at this place.

Yelp
Our dinner at Hobbs Tavern was a very popular experience. Yes, being a Friday night it was crowded, and we had a 20-minute wait on the front lobby benches with other folks in the same situation. It was actually an enjoyable wait as we gabbed with the friendly folks and passed around a menu. When our name was called, we were escorted to a table behind the bar and dove into the beer menu. We saw four IPAs, a dark lager, two light lagers, and a Saison. We both went for their Wet Hop Community Wheat Ale Lager (5% ABV) and $6 for a pint. The price was right and the beer was refreshing and very drinkable. We shared one of their appetizers - a nice bowl of Pretzel Bites served with an IPA Mustard $8.95. They were hot, salty, and perfect for sharing. We were going to an all day wedding the next day and figured we'd be overfed for lunch and dinner, do we took it easy for the Hobbs Tavern dinner. We both got a $6.95 salad (Tavern for my wife and Caesar for me) and added on $6.95 Grilled Chicken (her) and $10.95 Maple Bourbon Steak Tips (me). I gotta tell you, the steak tips were excellent. I ordered them medium and they were delicious -tender and juicy with an amazing sauce. I don't eat a lot of steak, but I was so glad I ordered these beauties tonight. Overall, it was $54 for a big beer, a small beer, an appetizer and two salad with a side of chicken and steak. I think that was pretty reasonable.

Yelp
A CRY FOR HELP I'm sorry to say but I was totally unimpressed with this place. Four of us came for dinner and no one was satisfied. I ordered the Vegetable Primavera. I have attached a photo of what a typical restaurant may serve versus what I received. It was a soupy mess without many veggies. As they say, a photo is worth a thousand words, You be the judge. Enough said.

Yelp
We enjoyed the food. Service and ambiance is nice. If we are ever up in that area again we would go there to eat.

Yelp
A bit of a wait to get in, just like any good restaurant! Good food, and lots of space! Service was average! Nice staff, and nice menu as well! Highly recommend the Blueberry Jalapeño Mocktail! It sounds like an odd combination - but it's great! Nice restaurant in the heart of Ossipee, I would come here again!

Yelp
Had a nice relaxing dinner on the deck one recommendation would be to have citronella candles on the deck to help deter mosquitos. Otherwise food was delicious!

Yelp
----- Concise Review Great family lunch ----- Longer Review We traveled to South Tamworth, New Hampshire, by way of Boston, MA and then North Conway, NH, for the wedding of our niece to her husband. The trip was brief - Thursday evening to Sunday, but filled with family and fun. Those of us not in the wedding party met for lunch before the ceremony, at Hobbs Brewery. The 12 of us really enjoyed... Appetizers: - Loaded house made potato chips - Cheese curds - awesome! - Pretzel bites Meals: - Chicken Caesar salad - Fish & chips - Burgers More The server was great and kept glasses filled and delivered all the orders accurately. Thank you! ----- ----- -----

Yelp
The chicken and waffles were amazing! The cheese curds were also so good. I got a flight of beers and there wasn't one that I wouldn't get again!!

Yelp
We loved it here! We called about outdoor seating and they said they had a limited number of seats and Saturdays were crowded so we might need to wait. I appreciated the candor and we went on Sunday instead. I ordered the Mahi Mahi and it was really good! My husband had their lager and enjoyed it. Chicken fingers for the kids and the staff was so sweet to the kids. We went back the next night and 2 of the staff remembered us and we so kind again. Highly recommend good food and good service.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years. Always enjoyed the food. My issue wasn't the food or drinks as both were fantastic. It was the service- the host squawked at us for having children... as we were a multi family coming in to have dinner together- didn't offer kid cups and was told they had to drink out of glass- the server was rude- first thing she did instead of a friendly greeting was commenting, "you must not be from around here" when she first came to our table. In fact we are locals and that shouldn't matter- as a server your job is to take care of your customers, be kind and courteous, which is absolutely the opposite of what we received. I am a server in the valley have been for years. It's extremely disappointing to go out and spend a lot of money dining at a place where the service is terrible.

Mindy Z.

Yelp
We love Hobbs! Have always had great food and even better service. The atmosphere is pretty cool too!

Seth R.

Yelp
Post hike spot for a beer and a bite that didn't disappoint! Waitress was very friendly and helpful with the menu. Will be returning.

Darby W.

Yelp
The food was great, it had so many gluten free options! The service was outstanding. Our server was very personable.

Jed C.

Yelp
Great food and ambiance, service was awesome. Owner told us the story of the place. I got a fish & chips dinner. Fish was haddock and huge, placed over what looked like3 or4 potatoes hand cut french fries. Cathy had onion soup and a salad that was good and a glass of their porter. Nice place to go, just a bit of a ride but worth it

Paul M.

Yelp
Sat at the bar. Ordered a beer, got ignored for 30 minutes. Then ordered our burgers. Then our meal sat at the other end of the bar for 10 minutes. This place needs more help. I would not recommend this place.

Doreen F.

Yelp
The atmosphere at Hobbs Tavern is incredible. That's the reason I gave it a 2 stars. Our server was very sweet. I ordered the fish and chips. Because I have stomach issues, I needed to order a different starch and vegetable. The server told me it would be an up charge but since I didn't want just the fish, I agreed. When I received the bill the up charge was $7 extra. This was totally ridiculous since the rice and green beans were cold and very small portions. Most restaurants allow a different starch and vegetable without an up charge. Never again will I visit this restaurant. It wasn't necessarily the amount but the principal of the matter. Rice and green beans are inexpensive and not any more than French fries and Cole slaw. It made my dinner very expensive. The alcoholic drinks were expensive and small. There are many other restaurants with better food and more realistic prices in the area. So, never again will Hobbs see me.
google avatar

Douglas M.

Yelp
It's one thing when the food is mediocre but when they add extra tip for themselves it's criminal!!! Went for some beers and food after a hike in the White Mountains. Thought this place looked nice. The beers were pretty good but the food was poor at best (2 stars). The problem is the bill came to $242.42, we added a generous tip of $48 (~20%) however our credit card was charged $317.44. That's over 30%!!! Cheating your customers is not a way to stay in business long-term. Stay clear of this shady business!

Yelp
Amazing staff, super attentive and helpful. The food was also so tasteful, I ordered the burger with Cajun fries and it was so flavorful.

Yelp
We arrived for our reservation for 2 at 8pm. First impressions was great, atmosphere was nice. Men's bathroom was clean but woman's had tp on floor and overflowing trash. Waitress came to our table to take our drink order but we had not received a drink menu. She returned and we ordered drinks (1 flight 1 soda and 2 waters) also ordered an appetizer of cheese curds. She drops off our drinks minus the water. When we are finally able to order (beef pie & chicken parm) we remind her about the appetizer and waters that had been forgotten to put in. She apologized for being short staffed. Comes back after a few minutes to tell us both of the entrees we ordered are all out and did not bring menus. She returns and we order a second time (burger - medium well, with fries and coleslaw & the steak tip special, was then also informed they were out of coleslaw) She returned a few minutes later to tell us that they were also out of the steak tips. (Keeping in mind that the limited menu has only 6 entrees, burgers & sandwiches. Lisa does not eat seafood so there is basically nothing left to choose from) Again without a menu we waited for the waitress to retrieve one and ordered an appetizer of chicken wings and a salad. Defiantly not what we were looking for and because of the time we couldn't leave to eat elsewhere. One hour after seating; 9pm, just now getting our appetizer of cheese curds which were great aside from finding 3 pieces of some kind of seafood mixed in. (Not a big deal for us, but a great way to kill somebody that is allergic to shellfish) When our meal arrives, the burger was over cooked and cold, it was clearly fired before they had our entire "new" order. The fries were also cold. We requested water for the 3rd time as well as the sauces that we asked for when ordering. With a now diminished appetite we ate half of our meals. I expressed the burger was overcooked and cold when sending it with the server. The bill came and we were charged full price for everything. I expressed again that our visit was unsatisfactory and hoped they were not planning on charging us 100%. The only apologies for the poor service and food was sorry were shorted staffed. After speaking to the manage the burger was removed from the bill. There was high hopes for this place as the building both out and in is beautiful with a great atmosphere. I do not recommend and will discourage anybody from visiting Hobbs. If anybody from this establishment wishes to contact me about this visit they are welcome to email me at jody@cakesplus.biz. ****While writing this review I have also realized that we were charged $8 for an entire basket of fries, when we had only ordered a side which should have been $2...

Yelp
Hobbs Tavern has some beautiful grounds with a cozy, rustic feel within that is perfect for a private functions or a "north country" wedding. The waiting area is illuminated by a large hearth and leather couches with the warm smell of brewing beverages, tavern foods and the rich woods inside the restaurant. Though Hobbs is known for its entrees and beer, my partner and I chose to sample their cider and mead which was equally as good. We did not order food during our visit, though the fried cheese curds were truly calling my name. Hobbs Tavern is the perfect little place for a hot meal by the fire on a cold day in a small town,

Yelp
Beer tasty- interesting. Food just mediocre - sort of what you would expect from a chain. Staff lovely- with exception of our waitress who seemed to have challenges interacting- actually sort of impolite- which would be ok if was competent.

Fred w.

Yelp
Wow about 6 years since we went there, so I figured it's about time to update. The wife and I were invited by friends to meet-up at Hobbs, so we definitely were "in". My wife had the steak tips ($28) and I had the Ol' smokey 1/2-pound burger ($20) along with a couple of draft beers ($7 each). My wife enjoyed the tips thoroughly and I have to say that my burger was excellent. The food is better than it was the first time we went there. Total bill with Tip: $87. Some down-sides are still evident. As has been said by others, the waitress didn't seem to know anything about the menu items or beers. She may have been new, like others have been noticing. She was also over-worked, as has been the case lately with a lot of restaurants in this area after the Summer-season staff leave the area. She also brought me a second beer that I never ordered, but I of course drank it. I say this only to ask - are they having issues retaining staff as others have asked? Second, the beer is still only OK, like it was 6 years ago. Not great and not bad. Third, and also like 6 years ago, it was still a little sparse in there, despite being a Friday after 6PM. A sign that it's not a first-choice place for people to go to. In the end, good food, OK pricing, iffy but OK service, great atmosphere. Could do better for restaurants in the area, and definitely could do worse.

Yelp
I was in town for work and drove past this place many times and finally decided to give it a try my last night here. I am so glad I did! The French Du Jus sandwich was amazing! It was just the perfect amount for myself. The sirloin was so tender and so good. The service was good and there's locals that go here, so that says something. I opted for sex on the beach, but next time I will definitely try one of their brews!

Brian W.

Yelp
The interior is pretty rad. Exposed beams, nice hardwood, and all that. I liked the beer much, and the food was decent. the only issue was the food was a bit on the pricy side. I know inflation is real, but 20 bucks for a sammy still hurts a little.

Yelp
Traveled some ways from our hotel in North Conway to visit Hobbs. The beer was very good. Totally worth trying. The establishment is beautiful inside very lofty and decorated nicely. The service was good we sat at a night top at the bar. What I found strange was when ordering my sandwich I tried to make an adjustment (hold he pickles) and the waitress Informed me they make all of their sandwiches in advance so it might taste like pickles ? Huh. .... not a huge menu to choose from and I would say it was mostly sandwiches so why not make them to order ? Kind of strange. I ended up getting the "special" a cheeseburger sub. This had to have been the greasiest bun I have ever put my mitts on. I mean after removing them from the sandwich I needed like 5 napkins roughly to get my hands ungreased. The cheeseburger ..... probably pre frozen due to its lack of flavor and puck like consistency. My boyfriend had their version of an Italian and he didn't have any complaints but wasn't impressed by any means. Overall Hobbs is a great place for grabbing a drink and maybe something small but if your looking for a great meal don't count on getting one here.

Yelp
Amazing! Every item in fryer is gluten free Food was a Ten! Service folks were great. Decor is cool with large family tables

Yelp
Had lunch was great. Fast friendly service was great. Priced fair was at work so I couldn't try the beer had a burger that was awesome. Friend had turkey pannini big place lots of space.

Yelp
My entire meal was too salty! I used to visit when this was The Whittier House restaurant ... the interior has much improved altho the inner seating area acoustics need some toning down, sitting on the inside porch was much more appealing. Our server was very lovely altho she had her hands full with covering the whole seating area alone (even tho other wait staff stood around the end of the bar area) therefore was unable to check on us. So at 1 point I had to go to bar area to ask for a water refill due to all the salt on the food. i ordered the gluten free haddock dinner, the coleslaw was so salty I spit out the forkful I tried (very disappointing, the fries were crispy altho another over salted portion. The fish was crisp & had it not been for the chefs over zealous use of salt it would have been perfect. I'm not a salt user & wound up with a headache before leaving the restaurant due to the overdose of salt I took in. Mind you I only had 2 fries, a taste of the coleslaw, 1/2 the fish & w glasses of water. When I told the waitress upon her clearing us ... she said they are trying different recipes with the coleslaw - I told her having cooked in a restaurant - I found it best to allow the guests to season their own dish. We did order the chocolate torte & thankfully that was excellent. (No salt on that menu item!)

Yelp
Gorgeous space and delicious food in West Ossipee, NH. My friends, their kids and my husband stopped for an early dinner on a recent Saturday after my friends raved about this place. We arrived before the rush and were quickly seated in the upstairs loft - a gorgeous space that I am sure is used for private events. The seating was spacious (enough for our friends daughter to have the run of the place and burn off some energy). Our waitress handed our menus but we had to ask for a beer menu - which I found odd as they brew their own beer and I would have assumed they would be more than willing to promote it. She brought over a chalkboard sign - which was a nice touch and I placed my order for a DIPA that they brew. After a day on the lake - we were all pretty much starving - so we ordered an appetizer of fried Calamari, salads (to share), and some main dishes. The calamari was brought out but we were surprised to find after a layer of calamari - all we were greeted with was mixed greens - I felt that we were "had" - especially for the cost of the appetizer. Soon after we were finished - our salads AND meal were brought out at the same time - leaving little room on the table to maneuver around. I don't think I have ever experienced this before. I could understand IF the restaurant was crowded but it was not. On top of that I had to wait an extra 5 or so minutes for my meal (a delicious Cuban sandwich that was worth the wait). Again - it was another timing issue that I hope the kitchen got together before the dinner rush. Our waitress also never came back to check on us and also if we wanted a refill - we had to flag a bored looking bartender over to get a refill on our drinks. All in all the food was good but the service needs some improvement.

Yelp
My husband and I went here for a late Saturday night dinner, and we were pleasantly surprised to find a great steak restaurant in the Tamworth area. We started with the fried cheese curds, which is basically cheese crack, and the spicy ranch dip was to die for. My husband had a milk stout and the steak tips (rare), and they were amazing. I had the bison burger, which was delicious and perfectly cooked. I think it could have used a bit of salt to cut the sweetness of the jam on the burger, but it was otherwise amazing. Also, my husband loved the blueberry mead. Our waitress, Sarah, was prompt and super friendly, and we really enjoyed it overall. It's definitely on the pricier side - we paid $100 with tip - but we're happy to pay good money for good food.

Yelp
They've lost their touch! This was my second time at Hobbs tavern and it will be my last for a while. I ordered the Haddock Fish and chips. They've got some HUGE portions, they're must have been about a pound of fish on my plate. While the fish was plentiful it certainly wasn't good, flavorless, overly breaded, and clearly a frozen fish fillet. I'd eat the sweet potato fries again, but that's about it. The lemon slice clearly wasn't cut this week, dry as the Sahara, and leave the coleslaw as a plate decoration, it had a very foul taste. Certainly not a $17 entree. The wait staff was your average corporate serving experience, where they clearly had more tables then they could handle. We asked a few menu questions and didn't get much for answers other then she didn't know. I'm not sure if I was illusioned from the rest of the experience or not, but the beer was also not as good as I remembered either. Not bad, but not the same 'wow' as before. Let's get back to where you were Hobbs!

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon in the thick of snowmobile season, seeing a steady influx of snowmobilers coming in. The way things are at restaurants these days with frequent mediocre service and food, I was pleased to find that we had great service and great food. We did a beer flight and enjoyed them all. We got the pretzel bite appetizer and a burger. Beef quality was very good, not superb or anything, but cooked nicely and the homemade chips were good. Also, the pleasant host staff really makes a difference. Definitely would go back.

Yelp
My wife and I ate there this evening, my brisket was good, but my wife had a pulled pork sandwich that was dry and rubbery. She felt like it was days old. We waited for the waitress to ask if everything was okay, she never came and asked. Other people on the deck were getting good service from another waitress. Long after I was finished and it was time to pay, the waitress finally came. My wife complained to her and she said she would see if manager would remove her sandwich ($15) from the bill. The waitress returned and said the manager said she would give my wife a free dessert. Neither my wife or I eat sugar, so she passed. We had to pay the full bill for just one edible meal out of two. A. The cook should have never let that pulled pork leave the kitchen as it was. B. The waitress could have checked on us at least once. C. The manager obviously does not care. Martin Willis
