Yelp
I decided to visit Fredericksburg one weekend and found, through internet research, that this B&B was one of the very best. I arrived after their scheduled check-in time but called a week prior to give them notice and was given alternate procedures for check-in which was great. Upon arrival to the room (Texas Bunkhouse), which was cozy and the largest room for my particular price point, I would describe it as upscale rustic. It seemed to have a majority of the basic amenities you would find in a hotel room. It had a mixture of modern and antique furnishings and of course polished concrete floors. This is in a newish building, so you have the rustic atmosphere without the rustic smell.
For an upscale B&B, I thought the room should of had the following items:
- Laundry bag
- Slippers (for walking on cold flooring on cold winter nights).
- Soaking tub (only had a stand up shower)
- Better shower head with more than just a single setting (and better water pressure)
- Consistent, faster internet
One thing I wasn't really fond of were the flies. Maybe there are a lot in the hill country or this particular town, not sure. There were at least 3 in the room when first arriving and I managed to kill two of them before leaving, but they are annoying and landed on everything.
BREAKFAST
Saturday morning breakfast was brought to the door shortly before 9am as promised. I didn't think this particular breakfast was all that. It was simple to say the least, compared to the website which seems to portray a more gourmet experience using local ingredients when possible. There is nothing special about scrambled eggs lightly seasoned with pepper, sausage links that tasted just like frozen jimmy dean from the grocery store, an apple struedel in a bowl, a slice of orange and a strawberry.
Sunday morning was a little better but still keeping it simple. They gave you a lot of patty sausage, a fruit cup, egg casserole, and a homemade blueberry muffin.
I liked the layout and size of my particular room, but Id be open to try other rooms if I ever returned.
I tried to pick out some movies from their library in the great room but found most all movies are older (2008 and earlier). This is 2018, they could use a little updating of their collection for sure, to cater to the younger crowd.
