"The Hog's Breath Saloon The Hog's Breath Saloon on the corner of Duval and Front Street in the heart of Old Key West has been in business since 1988. The Saloon was a hit from the day it opened. It's a place to enjoy lunch or relax after a day of swimming, fishing, or sightseeing. The menu offers typical Key West fare: conch fritters, conch chowder, wings, salads, fresh fish, and raw bar. There is an Annual Hog's Breath 5k Hog Trot. After the race, there's an award ceremony at the Saloon."

If you are visiting in Key West – Hog’s Breath Saloon should be put in your itinerary of places to visit. I have been here at least a dozen or so more times. It is completely laid back, away from all the craziness on Duval Street. When you walk in it is completely unpretentious but full of personality. Just cold beer , strong drinks and live music. Food Wise, it is what you what expect, Bar Type Food – all good. Hog’s Breath Saloon has a nice outdoor area that is where you will find Local Bands performing. The Gift Shop has all the Fun Touristy Clothing you can purchase. Hog’s Breath isn’t trying to impress anyone, and that’s exactly why it does. It has that authentic, no-frills character that is increasingly rare—and in Key West, it fits right in. This place has been in business since the late 1980’s, and there is a reason for that.

The atmosphere was fantastic, right down to the roosters/chickens and the waitress chasing them out with a spray bottle of water. The shrimp tacos and ceviche were delicious. The only critique would be the ceviche could use more shrimp. But the flavor was spot on. We got lucky and parked in the lot right next to Hog’s Breath. It was as worth the $30 to park since we were right by all the shops too.

We stopped in for an early dinner based on the excellent reviews and were not disappointed. Between the open concept design, the first responder patches all over the walls, the live music, and the laid back vibe, it’s a great place to unwind. But even better was the food! We had the brisket roll and the burger minus letttuce and tomato (blend of brisket and short rib). Quite possibly the tastiest brisket we’ve ever tried. Be sure to grab a Goombay Smash along with whatever you get!

Google
Delicious food. Friendly service. Loud live music. The charm of the atmosphere is very welcoming and feels fitting for the area. The lobster roll was packed with succulent cold water lobster that was cooked in clarified butter. The fries/potato wedges are out of this world. My friend thought the BLT was one the best they've ever had and my other friends loved their fish and pulled pork tacos. The blackened fish tacos were slightly better with all the taco ingredients itself, but the meat in the pulled pork.

Love this place! One of my go to places to have a great fish sandwich and listen to some live music

Google
There were 4 of us, and nobody was overwhelmed with the food. It was bland. It came out super fast. It was hot and filled us up. We will not recommend this to our friends for food. The live music was nice. The service was fantastic 👏 great job.

Google
The food was very good and the service was amazing! There was live music that was very good. I would say that the potions are a bit small for the price though!

Google
Great music. Both days singers were great. Had Mac n cheese burnt ends. Amazing. Fun place to stop at.

Yelp
We go to Hog's Breath a couple of times per month because some of our musician friends perform there so we like to go watch them. Hog's Breath has pretty good food for a bar, and their drink prices are adequate compared to the other touristy places on/near Duval Street.

Yelp
Came here for a quick night cap and we were not disappointed. We had been told to go here for the key lime pie shooters, so we did! The server was amazing, super knowledgeable (I'm allergic to some alcohols that are frequently put in this type of drink) she was able to rattle off the ingredients of the shooters without hesitation. We also ordered and split the lobster roll which she confirmed that we knew it was the one with butter, not mayo, but thats exactly what we were after. The shooters were yummy and the lobster roll was amazing. Definitely will be coming back here on one of our next trips down!

Yelp
We saved the best for last. We were here 30 years and the Smoked Fish Dip still tastes the same. This is the only place that makes it better than any other that I've had. The he Key Line Pie Cocktail s worth another shot, but I'd be the butt of some videos if I tried.

Yelp
Definitely one of my favorite bars in Key West. The live music at night is great. Probably my favorite establishment to listen to music. The dance floor is cozy and fun. Bartender was friendly and quick. Drinks are good, too!

Yelp
You have to visit this bar/ saloon when you are in Key West. They offer live music, reasonable drink prices and good food. The atmosphere is lively and fun.

Yelp
This review is based alone on the bar and nightlife! We had a blast at hogs breath saloon while visiting key west. While we didn't eat anything there, we hung out at the bar for quite a while. The live music and bands are unlike anything else. Super talented musicians play all day and into the night. Drinks were fun and delicious! The key lime cocktail is like drinking sunshine.

Yelp
Best and cleanest men's restroom of any venue I have visited in Key West so far. This becomes more important the longer you stay.

Yelp
A Key West must. Good drinks and food is good also. Live music and lots of people!! Gotta go!!
google avatar

Lawrence U.

Yelp
The place is alive and vibe is relax and friendly people. They have local taps and at 3 in the afternoon, on a rainy Sunday- place is packed. Live music. Did not order food.
google avatar

Christina S.

Yelp
Hog's Breath was probably the best food we've had in Key West. Plenty of food for your money and so delicious! Live music was playing and our server was on point. I highly recommend the BBQ nachos from the appetizer section. The drinks pack a punch also and you get a souvenir cup. Don't miss out while visiting!

Yelp
If you're in Key West florida. You have to stop into Hog's Breath Saloon for Key Lime shotters and Rum Runners. The service was outstanding , and the ambiance of being in a Grass hut bar on a hot day was very relaxing. Music was very tropical, just right to put you in an island state of mind . Never tried the food, sorry to report it was way too hot to eat .

Yelp
This restaurant bar is located at the far end of the Duval strip in Key West. If you are looking for hamburgers or a variety of chicken wings this is the place to go. They sometimes have a one man band playing classic music at the front next to the full liquor patio bar. They also have a secondary bar in the restaurant. No frills here on the decor, its strictly an original Key West theme. They have a large apparel store attached to the restaurant. Tourist prices for most items - but most customers here are tourists. Plenty of stores and bars nearby. Great location here.

Yelp
Pulled Pork? More like "Pulled From The Freezer" Quite possibly the worst meal I've ever had. The bun was hard and stale. The "so-called" chunks of pork had NO flavor and were pale in color, obviously frozen and reheated several times. It was drenched with white liquid that resembled baby-barf, which they claim was white Carolina BBQ sauce, but had no flavor. The fries had pieces that were too hard to chew. My girlfriend had the Brisket Roll, which was more like a Rubber Roll. The bun was rubbery and the "meat" was flavorless and tough. The night we were there Zack Seemiller was playing, which was the most annoying and lame music I ever heard. Hey Zack, learn the correct chords to the songs! The restrooms were filthy and the floors were sticky. I don't know how this joint has such good reviews. Stay away!

Yelp
Had to visit Hog's Breath Saloon, a Kew West icon, with some friends who were visiting for the first time. My snapper sandwich was delicious. It had just the right amount of blackening season. Our server was great and attentive and the live music playing made for a great atmosphere. Definitely a must go to place while here.

Yelp
Service was impeccable. Food was delicious and plentiful. Ambiance was interesting with live music entertainment while we ate. Great bathroom facilities, clean and plentiful. Highly recommend to stop in for a beer and lunch.

Yelp
Nice beer selection and AMAZING live muscle on the Tuesday we visited. I think they booked the Glass Cats band. Phenomenal musicians. Enjoyed the vibe!

Yelp
Believe it or not I have never eaten here although everything I've ever seen come out of the kitchen looks absolutely fantastic. It is definitely island style pub food so you can get your desired island standby's. French fries look amazing cocktails are fantastic. Staff is amazing and they always always have music just be patient. It can get a little bit loud in there cause it's a pretty small place, it's very dog friendly air so please don't expect air-conditioning that is just not the way we do things in Key west. I am a local and come here often. The other other thing that is really nice is that their drink prices are extremely reasonable as some of the places in Key West can get quite pricey. They also carry a really solid variety of upgraded liquors.

Yelp
Amazing place Ask for Jimmy at the bar will make you the best Key Lime refresher drink to start the day!!
google avatar

Yelp
HOT Lobster sandwich. Thought I was going to throw up. Got rid of a great Cuban Sandwich also

Yelp
Definitely a landmark tourist bar in Key West. It is mostly outdoors and the summer heat can be rough when drinking. The tourists pack this place full everyday but there is a parking area for the locals. While waiting to get in, there is plenty to look at outside while sitting on a few benches. Roosters also frequent the back area if you are looking for one.
google avatar

Yelp
The music of Reggae Lou and the Kind Budz drew us in from the street and kept us drinking and dancing for hours! Hog's Breath is a dive bar for tourists and locals alike. It has a small stage next to a small dance floor, and ample bar areas to grab drinks or a barstool when you need a break. The more restaurant-like area adjoining the bar serves the kind of food you'd expect...burgers, sandwiches, fries, onion rings. This place is FUN!
google avatar

Amanda O.

Yelp
Was very packed and couldn't get seating anywhere. Took a long time to get a drink. Very popular place so right now this review is more indifferent as we didn't really get to experience it except from the outside.
google avatar

Caitie O.

Yelp
A key west staple. I only ate the loaded cheese fries, but they were excellent. No skimping on the REAL CHEESE here. Service was phenomenal, but the live music was quite possibly the best we heard all trip. When were there, it was a nice lowER key bar with enough space away from the music to actually talk and hear ourselves.
google avatar

Eddie S.

Yelp
Nice laid back place. Good service. They seemingly always have a band playing. Food came out very fast and was better than expected.

Zeni B.

Yelp
This place was very good! The service was incredibly attentive and friendly. If I had to recommend any starter it would definitely be the Chorizo Queso Dip. I got the caesar salad. I would not get it again, however I would definitely come again and try something else on the menu because the food overall was really good. I tried the Mac n Cheese and Pork Sandwich and both were amazing, the Mac n Cheese was definitely my favorite. This is a great spot to come for lunch/dinner and/or grab a drink and enjoy the live band!

Yelp
It is post covid and my first stop after 1998... At first everyone seemed to be bothered to attend us. Our server finally came and saved the day, good people and good food make for a great experience.
google avatar

Jake P.

Yelp
We were only drinking on this most recent visit. I have eaten here before and the wings are great. It's a fun vibe and a classic KW stop. The live music was good, but so loud it was almost impossible to talk. I know some like that, but in KW part of the fun is talking to strangers! We had a blast at the side bar. The bartender was great and we had some fun folks around us. The outside seating is just cool. A big tree provides shade around a large center bar and it's covered in license plates around the world. If you've never been it's a must stop in Key West
google avatar

Adam R.

Yelp
Only go if you're not drinking. Great bands cool bar. Drinks charge in line with Key west. However barman are told and do only pour 1 1/2 count. Normal is 3 count for a good measure like Tree Bar or Sloppy's and Tree bars is cheaper. Pity to be so cheap for a good bar.
google avatar

Dara G.

Yelp
I can't say too much about this place. Only that Stephanie the bartender was pretty much unpleasant. After making a disgustingly sweet drink and asking her for a 7 and 7 and she said she won't replace it. Pretty bad customer service for a once that runs on tourism. If this is the bars policy I recommend making a change and if not Stephanie's got to goooo

gus l.

Yelp
They changed owner so decided to reduce the size of the food, snapper sandwich which used to be the best in key west , now is a mini fish burger. It sucks. Personal and employees are not happy with the new owners, Do not go there

David E.

Yelp
Worst pulled pork sandwich. Very dry with no taste The plastic silverware was useless
google avatar

Cindy M.

Yelp
Had such a great time at this bar last year , great pina colada's, went in on a Sat pm , bartender completely ignored our group of four , we left .... Gave it another try Monday night , asked bar tender if we could have a frozen pina colada , his response was "No" ..... idk what or why it has changed but rude service is unacceptable, what a disappointment, won't bother trying again.... Get it together Hogs Breath ...,
google avatar

Ken J.

Yelp
Stephanie the bartender outside here makes the best Pina Coladas. Rum floater, delicious. Past visits had smoked fish dip, very good. Food service begins at noon. Live music from noon till close.

Yelp
I've lost track of how many times I've visited Key West and Hogs Breath has always been a favorite place to stop in for a quick beer and maybe two or three if there's good music going on. About a week ago my family and I (5 of us) stopped in after having walked around town all day. We showed up in need of everything - food, drink, and a place to rest. We figured we'd spend the next hour or two rehydrating, drinking beer and cocktails, and ordering whatever it took to fill everyone up. What we received was service and an attitude of a waitress that was nearly unfathomable in a tourist town or much less any bar/restaurant on the planet. We were given a table just inside the restaurant area, a few steps out from the bar, where we sat and looked at drink menus and I patiently waited while our party, famously indecisive and needing forever to figure out what combination of drinks and apps to order, figured out our game plan. So much time went by that I was 100% there was no waitress assigned to our table and that we must obviously have to go up to the bar to get our drinks started. I went up to the friendly bartender who started off by making a couple drinks and pouring a couple beers and as he was swiping my card my wife came to tell me the waitress had come by and asked if it was too late to cancel our bar transaction. The bartender and quickly done his work and no big deal I thought for us to settle up and continue on with whoever our server would be. Oh how wrong I was. When I brought the drinks back to our table my entire family said how pissed this girl was, how she complained that we had gone to the bar and had stormed off in response after my family had started to ask for waters. I went back to the bartender to ask for waters and he said if we had a table that he shouldn't serve us waters or anything else. I told him based on my family's reaction the waitress had no intention on bringing us water. He said she had to and, having trusted this nice guy from our previous interaction went back to the table. After sitting down for a few minutes and noticing there was a server frequenting the other tables around us, it was just as apparent she was ignoring service to ours. She even would occasionally scowl at our group. I ended up going to the outside bar to grab a couple waters and brought them back. We had finished our round of drinks and finished our waters when the waitress, a prolonged period of time later, brought waters to my family. The entire experience at this point was appalling and we decided we were done with Hogs Breath for this day with the unprofessional, immature attitude from the waitress having done in the entire experience. We thought we would try to make it up to her and as an apology (because she had entirely made us feel we had committed a tremendous crime that entirely ruined her day) tried to give her a straight $20 for having done nothing but bring us waters and treated us like absolute sh!t and the girl wouldn't even accept it. She was so pissed that she wouldn't even take a twenty from us after all she had put us through. What an absolute total fail as an employee and human being in general. Total fail for Hogs Breath on this beautiful January day. This one waitress needs to go. Despite having lukewarm fond memories of Hogs Breath from the previous 20 years I'll never forget this one experience that greatly sours any good times I've had there.

Yelp
Key West is known for its vibrant atmosphere, live music, and great drinks, and Hog's Breath Saloon perfectly embodies this. During my recent visit to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday, we had a great time filled with great rock music, good drinks, and a lively atmosphere. The highlight of our evening was undoubtedly the rock band playing that night. The energetic performance created an electric atmosphere that had everyone on their feet, singing along and enjoying the music. The drinks were good and fairly inexpensive. We were pleased with the quality. The bartenders were quick to serve and showed genuine friendliness each time we ordered. When it comes to food, the fish dip at Hog's Breath Saloon was simply outstanding. It was undoubtedly the best fish dip I have had in a long time. However, the nachos, while decent, didn't quite provide the same level of satisfaction. Overall, Hog's Breath Saloon in Key West is a fantastic place to celebrate, unwind, and enjoy live music. The rock band created an electric atmosphere, while the drinks were both satisfying and reasonably priced. The fish dip is an absolute must-try, and while the nachos were average, they still made for a decent snack.

Yelp
We always make sure to stop here when I'm key west. Fun environment with live music, excellent drinks and bar food. It's not my favorite place for dining, but it's a great place to throw a few back while you soak up some local entertainment.
google avatar

Yelp
Came on a Sunday night for the live music. We enjoyed the atmosphere, although it was busy. Our bartender, Jim, was fantastic. It's worth a visit!

Yelp
Famous dive bar in Old Town Key West. Good for some drinks and live music. Not my favorite but all the tourists like it.
google avatar

Sierra T.

Yelp
Considering what it is, it's great value. The food was really good for the price. Hog Legs 9/10 Like delicious fried chicken. Use mustard instead of the plum sauce Burger 8/10 No complaints, no compliments either Service It's giving over-worked under-paid, but I think our waitress did a solid job. It's right next to a paid parking lot so you don't have to walk far. Live music did not sound bad and it wasn't too loud.
google avatar

Christie A.

Yelp
A dive located off the main drag in Key West, the Hogs Breath is a must try! It's nothing fancy and doesn't try to be- offering funky decor, a patch wall (walls, really), and a merchandise shop where you can purchase their famous sauces, tee shirts, and other items. We tried a bunch of appetizers as lunch one day. They were all great! We tried the wings, nachos, truffle cheese fries, and shrimp dip. The wings were nice and crispy but juicy on the inside. The buffalo sauce was a little spicy but not overpowering. The nachos were so good!!!! The bbq sauce on top was a golden, more spicy sauce than a traditional bbq sauce. They were loaded with goodies including amazing pulled pork, jalapeños galore and fresh tomatoes. The truffle cheese fries were also great and came topped with a black truffle salt! It was the first time I've ever had it and it was out of this world. They were also smothered in cheese and how could that be bad? The shrimp dip was also good but it's cold. I was expecting it to be warm so just a word of warning for all of you that aren't fans of cold dips! Overall, the drinks were good, the service was great and the food was wonderful. Make sure you give this place a try!
google avatar

CJ M.

Yelp
Such a fun bar! Huge space with live music. Friendly staff too. Definitely make it a stop on your Key West tour!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is happening so may not be the best if you're trying to avoid crowds. Nonetheless, everyone is here for a good time with live music and a dance floor. I got the Hog Snort which is their blue cocktail. A bit too sugary for me, but reminded me when they had a location in Destin when I was there a few years ago. Overall, just good vibes! Hogs breath is better than no breath at all!!

Melissa H.

Yelp
I loved this place. We went three nights in a row between 8 and midnight in December. The live music was great. The crowd was a lot of fun. The open air concept made it so that it wasn't hot in there and the bartenders were quick and friendly.
google avatar

Kelly G.

Yelp
Came for the key lime pie cocktail and it did not disappoint. The bar was busy but we were able to find a spot and the bartender was quick to acknowledge us and make our drinks in a timely fashion . The live band was fun and loud and patrons seemed to be digging the vibe here at this beachy dive bar . We left after one round of drinks but I enjoyed my key lime pie cocktail so much that we returned for round two not long after. There's lots of nightlife in Key West but Hog's Breath Saloon makes an awesome key lime pie cocktail so if that's your jam, make sure to stop by!

Frank S.

Yelp
In past years we have stopped in for a quick drink at the bar. On this visit, we didn't want a dinner but something light. We sat at a table ordered drinks and the smoked fish dip. First off, the waitress totally screwed up our drink orders and brought us the wrong drinks. When I couldn't get her attention, I went up the bar and they said the waitress would be with me shortly. About 15 minutes later she brought the correct drinks. Because my wife had taken several sips of the wrong drink, we were charged for it. Also, the smoked fish dip finally arrived and was one small dollop on a bed of stale taco chips, totally not worth the $13.95 it costs. This was a bad experience, and we won't be back. If you're hungry stay away from this place.

Yelp
When I think of freedom-loving Americans (thank prez DT), this spot comes to mind. It's like spring break for 30-70 year-olds. Fukn awesome AF. Live music smashing through the fun-in-the-sun sound barrier, tons of cocktails smashing through your liver, and tons and tons of ginormous raw oysters (the size of a catchers mitt) smashing through your stomach, in a good way. I will definitely be back. A must hit.
google avatar

Angelia B.

Yelp
Super stupid rule to not allow two tables to combine. I mean, the server could've said "I'm so sorry, we're not allowed" or offered some other bullshit reason but to argue with a customer and not be nice is f'n bullshit. Learn your craft, servers!!!! Srsly!!

Sasha A.

Yelp
Typical Duval dive bar with live bands. The night we went it wasn't very busy the band had stopped for a break. But when the bands are playing it can get pretty crowded. Service was ok the night we were there. Nothing distinguishable from the rest of the dive bars along Duval.
google avatar

Kyle H.

Yelp
I enjoyed a local band and a margarita. What a great time with friends. The bar keep was funny.
