We’ve been coming to this little Japanese spot in Chinatown off Bellaire for almost 18 years now—basically since before we got married and had kids.
The setup is simple: order at the counter, grab a table, and help yourself to water, utensils, and one of my favorite touches—the complimentary miso soup. They keep a pot out for everyone, and it’s always a nice way to start the meal. Prices are very fair and the value is excellent.
Food here has always been consistently delicious. I’ll admit the sushi rolls aren’t always perfectly proportioned, but they never miss a beat flavor-wise. On our last visit we spent just under $50 for myself, my wife, and one of our sons. I had the shrimp tempura entrée with rice, while my wife and son enjoyed a mix of sushi. I don’t personally eat sushi, but judging by their smiles, it hit the spot.
The only downside for me are the napkins—they’re those super thin ones that don’t really do the job. But that’s a small gripe in the big picture. Overall, this is one of those tried-and-true places that keeps us coming back again and again.
