Uber Eats. The salmon roll was definitely impressive with the amount of fish that they give you and the calamari was different but good.

Very small and limited seating but absolutely amazing! Everything made to perfection! The young lady who took our order was great, so friendly! Probably some of the best sushi I have had in quite a while, not to mention the presentation just stunning.

Order a takeout order an hour before closing ( which is rude for anyone out there who has never worked a food service job in their life) and Ada checked me out, she was extremely overly nice and kind. Need more people like her working with customers. Great food. Great place. Amazing service, thank you Ada.

Ordered the veggie ramen with tofu, roasted seaweed, and chilli paste. I will say without the paste the ramen is bland but with the paste it's DELICIOUS. I wish the tofu was included as well vs paying additional. Also ordered the Lychee Japanese soda which is so good and tough to find.

Loved the hibachi here! The springrolls are also great. Everything had great flavor. A lot of veggies. The portion sizes were generous.

The rudest, most unintentionally funny people in Charleston! Don't take my word for it - Look at their reviews!... beyond horrible! Bland food and nasty people... especially that woman that runs around on the floor - now she's funny (and not in a good way). If you want a good laugh, save your comedy club money and go here instead. Just order the $3.50 miso soup and watch the show (please don't eat the soup). No need to tip, because the service will be lousy anyway. But for $3.50 you get to watch the greatest clown show in Charleston! And if you're lucky, you may even get yelled out by that crazy-eyed woman racing across the floor like an escaped lunatic. Don't waste your hard earned cash on the food! Seriously! Go somewhere actually decent to eat. Just stop by this place for the laughs that will keep you rolling for weeks! Stories to tell your grandchildren!

I decided to order soba noodles with chicken. It has been my go to dish. The chicken was fresh and the portion size was great for the price. I typically order on a delivery platform. I have called a few time to get clarification on the menu and the staff is very pleasant.

I had the pink lady roll and shared a side of veggie fried rice with a friend. It was a short walk from our hotel. The service was quick and the food was good. It's a cute restaurant. Most people were doing takeout.

I didn't get a chance to order cause the lady with the glasses was so upset! I asked for a menu, she huffed and threw one my way. I decided on yaki soba noodles. I asked could I pay for extra veggies and she said no cause the container is too little to add extra veggies. I told her i never been here before . I asked for hibachi with no sweet carrots and she walked away. She came back and I told her it seems like my presence is making her more upset so ill keep my money. I walked out.

I really enjoyed my dinner. We planned to dine and would've loved to eat at the restaurant, but when we got there we found that they only do to go orders. I ordered the hibachi chicken & thoroughly enjoyed it. I really liked the containers the food comes in BUT both our containers were cracked. The food leaked in the bag but that wasn't a big deal because it happens from time to time when ordering food. However, when I sat down with my food to eat, it poured out from the bottom ALL over my clothes & the floor. Which is the reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. So be sure to check your containers! The meal also came with a miso soup or salad. I picked the soup, which I didn't enjoy. Other than that, the food was good! I would definitely go back.......in not so nice clothes lol.

I really enjoyed their food! I loved the containers the food was served in. If you're looking to dine in this isn't the place. They are take out only. We were a bit bummed to learn this but after driving back to our hotel, the food was still a desired temperature. Their shrimp was cooked well and although the picture does no justice, there's a decent amount of shrimp added. They're priced pretty reasonably. Quick service. They had several take out orders which was a green flag! We'll definitely visit again when we're in the area. Oh! And I like the way their veggies are sliced. Big,'long strips. I'm not a fan of having hibachi with little to no veggies... they don't skimp you!

After getting my haircut, I planned on dining at the Sabbath but when I went in and they asked, tell me I help you I said I'd like to sit down to eat because I said you don't want to. I think you need to take out. So that's why no one was dining in there because they don't really want anyone dying in and the lady was very rude. She was wearing black frame glasses I assume she's one of the owners but she was probably in her mid-30s and very rude to every customer that can so if you like the food in customer service skills don't matter to you then definitely eat here.

Visiting with family for a few days, wanted some good hibachi. Was not disappointed. Great food, big portions. Definitely with it.

Uber eats/takeout review: GREAT FOOD HUGE PORTIONS!! Not much to say about the restaurant or service itself since I ordered on Uber eats but wow that hibachi was GOOD. I got the hibachi steak and shrimp. It was ENORMOUS. The container was SO heavy. I also asked them to swap rice for veggies and they did and it was DELICIOUS!! It comes with miso soup or salad and I got the salad. It also came with 3 sauce cups of yum yum sauce! Everything tasted fantastic and there was so much food. I am so happy with it and will definitely order from here again

This is not a Sushi Bar or a Restaurant. It is take away only. Bad experience as I'm from out of town, walked there, and there are tables. I asked do I just sit down and the chic behind the counter said no. I told her it would be nice if they updated the website to say, "dine in only". She says I should have called, and it's been two years of takeaway only. I walk out with her yelling at me. Classless. How hard is it to update your website and remove "restaurant" and "sushi bar." You are misleading your customers!

Hokkaido is one of the new restaurants that opened on the WestEdge neighborhood. The restaurant and decorations are all new and cool looking . I visited during lunch break and I tried their affordable lunch combos which have two traditional maki rolls with a miso soup. I also ordered a hot tea to go with it. The tea came on a beautiful cat tea set that made everything more joyful and happy. The lunch rolls were a good portion and all the fish used (ahi tuna) was fresh and super yummy. The service was quick and the staff was really friendly and nice. I love to have more options in the neighborhood for quick, affordable and delicious meals. Visit Hokkaido, you will not regret it!

Perfect price point (rare in CHS) for FRESH sushi and hibachi. Hokkaido's small, intimate nature is what really sells it. Service is chill, friendly, and efficient. Where Hokkaido really excels is their sauces, seasoning, and garnish. WOWEE. From the soup to the rolls to the hibachi, the flavors are on point. Specifically, the chicken hibachi was so flavorful and distinct. They allow customers to punch up their own dish by including side dipping areas with ginger and wasabi. We enjoyed all our menu choices and will definitely venture outside of our "go to's" next time. We look forward to our next visit!

The shrimp inside my sushi roll was still wrapped in plastic. Really off-putting. Definitely took a second to realize what I was biting into...

Chicken Hibachi Chicken and Vegetables! This is so good! Another review recommended this and it does not disappoint! It comes with a salad or soup. I got the salad. I ate the salad first and can only get through about a third of this. I asked for no rice just veg. They are super nice. Order online. The dining room isn't open. Super nice people!

Wish there was a 6 star button for this place! I love Sushi and I love Japanese culture. They atmosphere of this place is so relaxing. It's a great place to bring your family for a nice meal and enjoy each other's time. The food is amazing no doubt about it. Possibly some of the best Sushi I've ever tried. The Godzilla Roll is awesome. The wait time is not too long either. Even if in your own experience if it takes a while it's still worth the wait. So go enjoy yourself some good food and good times here. Such a chill vibe this place has and I'll definitely be back

We came here after a festival in brittle bank park. It was a long day and we were looking for something nearby to eat. We have a usual constant to go to Asian and sushi by default, so this place was destined to hit the spot. We were very impressed with the food, The sushi was extremely high-quality, and on par with some of the best we've ever had. You can definitely tell the sushi chef knows what he's doing and takes pride in their work. We also got a lunch plate which came with sautéed vegetables, meat, rice and a spring roll. It felt and tasted quite authentic because it came in a cafeteria style tray, like you can get if you were eating on the other side of the world. We will definitely come back, one of our new favorite sushi places!

I have always loved eating here. We only ever order uber eats. Fish is fresh.. etc. However, my experience is completely ruined. I dont know in what world people expect RITZ CRACKERS with tuna tartare. Made it not worth eating. Why the **** would ritz crackers be with tartare?????

Walked to this restaurant to eat with friends and soon as I walked in the female waitress immediately said sit here sit here! I did not get to sit wit our other friends and when I sat down I had about 2 seconds to tell the waitress what I wanted to drink because she kept asking. She got our drinks quickly and then said you ready to order and we said no, she turned and walked away to the counter and then came right back and said you ready order now. We asked could we order something a certain way she said No loudly I then ordered chicken fried rice and before she left the table she said a box or dinner I said I don't know, because I have a brain injury and think slow. The waitress then said you need to tell me these things there is a price difference really loud and rude! I started to walk out but I just waited with the others, the food came right out in large portion. The food tasted good and looked good, but could barely make it around the corner before it made me sick. Should have went with my gut, rude service causes you rude behavior after wards !! She treated everyone this way.

I love this place! The food is always amazing and hits the good spot in my belly after a long 3 hour drive to the VA Hospital.

Today we decided on our vacation day we'd stop by and try their food , when we got there the lady was not very polite didn't greet us at all. Then instead of politely asking what would we like to drink she said it rudely. Then my fiancé had a question about the bento box wether you had to choose which meats because it was our first time there instead of politely answering the question she proceeded to scream at him and he then lost his appetite and he didn't order anything because of how rude she was. She was nice to the two Asians next to us she was really sweet to and attentive but was very rude to us could possibly be her racially profiling us because we're Latino. We own a restaurant and personally a bad attitude will be the reason a restaurant is unsuccessful. Because if you do not treat people with respect they will not want to eat there . She never apologized she thought her behavior was okay. I do not recommend going there .

Very terrible experience came in from out of town on vacation for maryland, waitress had an empty place and wanted to tell us where to sit mention that we need to be in a smaller dining area when we have people of a different ethnicity sitting on the same side we left didn't even get started advertise the place like they were high-end sushi place gave me a carryout vibe no thank you terrible place.

Delicious!! I got take out. They have a takeout window to minimize covid exposure, which I appreciated. They didn't give me the Thai iced tea that I ordered. I thought it was in the bag but it wasn't. Was really looking forward to that. The shumai was a little cold but still good. The Fantastic Roll is so delicious! It has a nice kick and it has good crunch from the tempura shrimp. I ordered so much food I'm ok with the Thai tea left out. I should have checked the bag before I left.

The location is not the most convenient, but the food is absolutely delicious. They definitely take pride in the food they serve. I have been there twice and was impressed both times! I would be so sad if they did not do well solely due to the location. Charleston definitely has a lack of food diversity since most of the people visiting would prefer to dine in a place offering the classic southern cuisine so it's great to have new non-southern options. Both times I ordered hibachi tofu. My friend has tried a few of the rolls, including the James Island roll which seems to be a favorite. The rolls are $10 during happy hour (starting at 4pm)! They also have a few drink specials for happy hour including $3 off hot sake. It's the perfect place to eat after work, especially if you work at or attend MUSC or the Citadel and park in the neighboring lots. Definitely give it a try if you're in the area!

Ordered from this incredible place via yelp delivery and wow wow wow I was NOT disappointed. Being from the east coast, theres a lot of great sushi around me and since I started living in Charleston I haven't been anywhere downtown that I truly love. Although it's a bit expensive this place is certainly worth it, and I am so happy I ordered. The fish was super fresh and I loved every bite.

I love this place! They have really good, quality sushi for good prices and their rice and noodle entrees are also very good. I've eaten here so many times and the quality is always consistent. My favorite is their lunch special because it's 10$ and it's for 2 rolls or a rice entree that comes with soup and sushi.

I go here maybe once a month since I live above. I'm not local to Charleston so the prices are higher than what I usually pay but I've never been disappointed here (except the steak hibachi - full of fat and inedible steak pieces, get the chicken and pay extra for filet instead). Portion sizes are great, easy to order online for pick up. They aren't doing dine in to my knowledge. I love the sushi pizza. The noodles are a little on the salty side but I love their chicken, idk what they do but it's tender and juicy! Sushi rolls are great too. Good specials for lunch.

The food was actually really good I'll give them that however the waitress was extremely impolite and cut us off in a harsh manner, we were being treated very much like an inconvenience. The place was small and cozy however it was hard to feel comfortable while being scared someone would spit in our food. I say that because there was a lot of tension while ordering and even afterwards. I understand being under pressure and a constant rush but I don't believe there's an excuse to lack manner and patience with your customer. Over all good food but if you want to have a sit down dinner with a group, you might want to consider somewhere else.

Due to COVID, the restaurant was only doing take out... as far as the sushi specialty rolls that i ordered, thery were delicious! Since this was my first time eating at this establishment, i felt that the waitress/cashier wasn't very friendly and didn't recommend anything, but if i come back and her attitude is the same, I'll have to train her on customer service!

Had a lovely meal at Hokkaido on a Saturday night. It was not packed at all. Easy parking, good food and friendly service. Location is at the Caroline, considered part of West Edge. I hope more people find out about this place and enjoy it as we had!

Cute little sushi place at the new Westedge development, downtown Charleston near bar E and a great looking fitness spot. Easy to find good parking and very friendly staff. I had tofu and mixed vegetables which came with rice and as my friend ordered a lot of sushi being the sushi glutton that he is I was able to sample and it was both fresh and delicious. I was just in the mood for something light and my mix vegetables tofu and rice hit the spot and they were very generous with the tofu. Please give these guys a try, I know you will enjoy it :-)

Wow! The food was so delicious. The edamame was fresh, hot, and well salted. Miso was delicious and definitely made in house. I had a spicy tuna roll, which was rolled well, fish was fresh, great spice, and the rice was good. Even the wasabi was distinctly better than other Japanese restaurants in the area! I also ordered the chicken hibachi. The veggies were freshly cooked and had just the right amount of "snap". The chicken was moist, I can't tell you how many times I've sworn to never eat hibachi cause of dry chicken. Finally the fried rice, I can't remember when I had fried rice that good. Overall impressed. The food was fresh and you can tell this place is definitely putting the best foot forward with their grand opening.

Hokkaido Sushi & Hibachi in Westedge is one of my favorite sushi and hibachi options in Charleston. I like to get sushi and hibachi in the same place and this restaurant works well for that. I like the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant as you can really relax and have a good time with a really good meal. The staff here is very friendly and cool and does a great job of getting everything that you need. I have had a really good time every time that I have been here.

We enjoyed a great meal here last night. The seafood soup was a favorite as was the John's Island roll. The service was wonderful. Small, casual place, not fancy for sure. Also had the haramuki which was amazing.

Excellent interior, excellent service, excellent food. The fresh spring rolls aren't on the menu, but try them!

We tried this place for the first time last night and had a great experience. It's top notch despite its casual atmosphere. It is very clean and located in a strip or retail at the base of a new apartment building. We started ordered the Gyoza which was flawless and came with a delicious sweet soy sauce. Seriously as good as any I've had. I got a hibachi dish which came with a fresh cold and crisp side salad with the requisite ginger dressing that was perfect. My wife also got a side salad and she was equally as complementary. She got several rolls which she praised and my hibachi was some of the best I've had in town. To top it all off the service was excellent. We will be back!

Service could have been better, but the sushi was great. The place also has happy hour deals everyday. Definitely worth trying.

The food here is fantastic. The sushi in Charleston is pretty darn expensive, but at least you get hour money worth here! If you live in this area, or drive through to go home, I find it so much easier to order pickup here than from the other spots closer to downtown. Everything tastes fresh, and I've only had great experiences when ordering takeout from her the past couple of months.

This place opens at 11 but you have to wait 30 minutes to cooked rice which don't make sense! When your open at 11 people expect your food ready by 11 poor service

I've tried many many Japanese places and this one is by far the best in the Charleston area. We've sampled nearly every roll and they are delish. Extremely fresh ingredients and always prepared quickly without sacrificing style in their rolls. We've ordered the chicken and shrimp fried rice and my young kids love it. I don't think you could order anything from here and be disappointed. We've been recommending to friends over the last nearly 2 years since we've been ordering from here. Once COVID is better, they may open back up for indoor seating, but only take out/delivery service for now.

I thought I'd stop in for lunch as I've had my eyes on this place (I park in the westedge building for work) and i'm really glad that I did! The service is great but what prompted this review was the depth of flavor in this food! I mean wow! Hokkaido stands out from many other japanese restaurants in town, only thing I wish is that it were a little bigger, but that doesn't mean a family of 4-6 couldn't enjoy. kudos!
