"As its name suggests, this stall specialises in Hokkien fried noodles in a garlicky broth made with prawn heads. Besides the typical toppings of prawns and squid, you may order others, like egg or abalone, at an additional cost." - Michelin Inspector

Ordered small $6 hkm. Pretty fast around 5min. It's okay. The only wow part about this is how wet it is. Most wet hkm I have. Size is small for $6. But u will feel full due to the broth. Flavorful but not mind blowing zero wok hey. Chili was meh no kick and relatively little. Lard was passable. Sotong was good. Harmony wise I feel it has that hkm next door feel. Something I eaten when I was younger. Good for suddenly graving but not worth if u need to travel.

The food is good — the prawns are fresh, and the abalone is also fresh. The ex-Michelin restaurant chef is definitely a highlight. There was no queue during lunchtime, so it was easy to get a seat. I think if they could offer more seasoning or sauces for free (instead of can’t), more customers would be happy to return for sure. Maybe this is a local style, but unfortunately I couldn’t fully enjoy my meal...

Hokkien Man Hokkien Mee is run by a former sous chef from the 3-star Michelin French restaurant Les Amis—yep, seriously! He brought his fine-dining skills to this humble hawker stall, and the result is a Hokkien Mee like no other. It’s a classic Singapore dish you’ll find everywhere, but this version stands out with its rich flavors and refined technique. It had been a while since my last visit, but I was happy to see the chef and his wife still behind the counter, serving up the same delicious Hokkien Mee. The menu is simple—just one dish, available in three sizes ($6.50, $12, $18). Even though it’s located in quiet Toa Payoh, it’s totally worth the trip just for this! Still one of my top Hokkien Mee spots.

Hokkien man, hokkien mee. What a nice rhyming stall name. Located at a coffeeshop Blk 19 Toa Payoh Lor 7, is the workplace of Mr and Mrs Xavier Neo. Before setting up his stall at Toa Payoh, Mr Neo was the chef of michelin 3 stars restaurant Les Amis. So how good is his hokkien mee? Is it the best ever? I immediately ordered my food and was given a buzzer. Found a seat and waited for it patiently. Not too long later, the buzzer vibrated. Yay finally my food is ready. I have high expectations for it since it came from a sous chef. The presentation of the dish is already nice. Nice plate unlike the common kind we found at the famous stalls. One thing caught my eyes, the prawns. It looks like they came directly from the ocean. Wow i cant wait. Lime is a must. Thankfully they gave me one so i gladly squeezed them unto my food and gave it a good stir. Time to dig in! Oh my gosh. The food is soooooo awesome. I kid you not, the broth was well soaked by the noodles, making every mouth of the mee taste so umami. It’s sweet and savory at the same time, something i didn’t expect hkm to taste so good. The eggs go so well with the hkm but the best of them all is probably the prawns. As good as it looked, it tastes amazingly fresh. For a hawker dish below $10 i think this is really worth it. 一分钱一分货, i am in love with this hkm. This is one of my 2 favourite hkm in the world. If you have not tried this before, go and try it. No need to quote sek fan lo! Fb grp because there wont be any discount. I love this and i will go back again and again. #hkm

I must say the broth used is good. Garlicky and fragrant. However, i would prefer more wok hei. But this is just my personal preference. At $6.50, it is not as affordable as most but given that it is cooked well, it was still a good eat.

Taste okay, but lack of wok-hey. Not cheap as the $6 portion is quite small. Ordered a plate $6 and a plate of $10 for comparison. Chilli given too little, but dare not ask for more as hawker charge extra. Pork lard could be better if serve by placing at the side instead of mixing it together when cooking.

We ordered the $12 one. The Hokkien Mee lacks wok hey, but tastes pleasant. Good to try when you happen to be in the area.

Taste is acceptable but the noodle texture is off. Chilli is not spicy nor fragrant. Less value for money as it starts from $6.50 with 2 prawns.
