This restaurant feels like home to me. I grew up with a Korean mother and grandmother who married my father in the military. I love their food. It's always fresh and traditional. I hope more people come try it. It's slightly more expensive then the average Japanese cuisine place but it's worth it because it's actually Korean. They also carry Cass beer 🍺. I couldn't be more happy with them and my experience. I've been here 6times now every other Saturday waiting for a mishap, but they always give best quality of service. They also have grilling at the table with a griddle. The meat quality is outstanding and as fresh as it gets. I didn't realize there were so many people upset that this place has a different name then before. I think it has a new owner and it really isn't their fault since they don't speak English and mainly Korean. They're incredibly hard working and it's a shame so many people are inconsiderate to this unknowingly. I will express this to them and try to bring it to their attention since they seem to be unaware of it. I would also like to address that in Korean culture just like in Japanese, they can seem cold or distant but really they're very respectful and just introverted in most cases. Please try to be understanding to another cultures ways and not just their food when exploring outside of our normal realms of culture. Thank you for reading. I hope more people can give this place a chance in the future.

🤮 this place is a complete mess and I won't be back. I do not recommend a visit. 1. You get there and can hardly find the place because it's under a different name. Hola Seoul had no exterior sign and is INSIDE a kbbq sit down restaurant, except guess what? The hola part is carry out!? (Or maybe just carry out for ppl who look like me? 🤦🏾‍♂️) Um...ok? 2. Next, the menu price they post on their window and on Google are completely off. They deceptively increased the price by $2+ dollars on all their items without saying so or changing the menu to reflect that, so that you order and are left holding the bag. Other reviews have also written this and it's true. Also check my reciept pictured below. This is unacceptably deceitful. 3. Service at the counter is cold. Server/cashier is rushed and makes sure you don't feel welcome. Atypical of a Korean establishment. 4. Food is hit or miss. The kimchi fries were cold but the popcorn chicken was pretty decent which is the only reason I'm giving it above one star. Bottom line: there's plenty of Korean restaurants in the area. Save your money and safe your time -- don't bother ordering food from Hola Seoul. 🤮🤮👎🏼

Google
I’ve only ever ordered the veggie giant dumplings and the Korean corn dog. Dumplings are fantastic! The corn dogs on the other hand are literally just fried cheese no meat. Ordered a second time giving benefit of the doubt that maybe bad shipment/order if it isn’t done in house. Nope still. I’m sitting here eating friend cheese on a stick covered in sugar 😂 It’s good don’t get me wrong but I want a corn dog not fried cheese.

Google
Beware of online ordering. Ordered online and it sent a confirmation stating the Ann Arbor location. Called 5 times to cancel and no answer, this location in Novi was reluctant to help.

How did I not know about this place? Really great Korean Fried Chicken - the wings are decently sized. Had a 20 minute ride home and they were still crispy. Quite easy to order online, and when one item was unavailable the owner called to let me know and immediately refunded the difference. Just wish it were closer to me!

Google
*UPDATE* When they remade my vegetarian/glutton free tacos, they threw in the special surprise of a small dead fish. Will not be ordering again, this is wild and beyond disappointing.. I order food from here regularly, but today they made my order incorrectly with flour instead of corn tortillas and proceeded to fight with me about the ingredients of the tortillas (as if I can't tell the difference between rice/glutton/corn tortillas?) Not great service, but I do (normally) love the food.

Google
I had not heard of Hola Seoul before and tried it on a whim - it was delicious! I will definitely order again and I plan to bring some to my friends! I used GrubHub. I had the Seoul Giant Vegetable Dumplings, Red Bean Buns, and Duk Bok Ki.

Google
Hola Seoul offers some great takeout options -- prices are reasonable and the food quality is good, it presents a great value for the cost as well. The portion sizes are solid and I'd say 2-3 tacos would easily fill up the average person. Their Kimchi fries are decadent and honestly probably a bit too rich for my palate, but still packed with great taste, and make a good option to share with a large group. The restaurant itself seems to be just another name for (or perhaps inside of) Dae Jang Keum, but packaged in a way that's more appealing for the online ordering market (Grubhub, ChowNow, Yelp, etc.). When you go to pick up, you'll enter Dae Jang Keum and just mention that you're there to pick up -- on my latest visit, staff was wearing masks, but you'll note they've opened up indoor dining so there will be people inside the restaurant without masks. Overall, it's really nice to see another option for Korean takeout in the Novi/ Farmington Hills area, and Hola Seoul doesn't disappoint in bringing a menu of great options with it!

Yelp
We were so excited to carry out Korean tacos and fries. Unfortunately, this place has completely gone down hill. The quality of food has completely deteriorated, their service is absurdly rude, and it is a total and utter SCAM! I know some places are lacking workers, they are family run so it can't be excused that they are horrible. Their menus are completely wrong that what they show as prices and what you order do not match. Items have gone up $2-$3 a piece compared to what is shown, so you don't know until after you get home ordering carry out that we were not only charged for what we ordered. They also charged us for what we didn't order! So they They accidentally charged me $6.00 for literally nothing. The 2 rice/radish/glaze was for the taco sauce that should have come with the food. They forgot to put the kimchi in the kimchi fries! PSA - always check your receipts before taking your carry out all the way home. I WILL NEVER COME BACK. I would recommend you don't go there either.

Yelp
We were a bit taken back by the cost of the menu items. Not much was below $30 there for an entree. Not a casual place by any means. We left before the server had a chance to take our order.

Yelp
I was in the mood for Seoul food and remembered this restaurant the last time I was in the area. The sign might have said Dae Jang Keum but some online sleuthing pointed me to Hola Seoul to check out the menu. The online ordering system was simple and even though I had intended to go down the bulgogi route, I ended up with a sample of good-for-the soul food. I'm talking about chicken wings, dumplings, Korean corn dogs, and Bulgogi and spicy pork tacos. Yes, I was in for a feast. The chicken wings in soy garlic sauce were phenomenal and rivaled any offering from wings-only places. I loved the large, meaty, crispy wings. Had my friend and I stumbled across this place as part of our Fried Chicken Odyssey, we would have been truly satisfied. The tacos were outstanding as well. The flour tortillas were a perfect foil for the tender beef and spicy pork fillings. The sauces complemented the meat and veggies; I would definitely reorder them in an instant. Now, for the less stellar parts of the meal: the vegetarian dumplings were more like baos. The bread part of the dumplings was okay, as was the filling. The Korean corn dogs were missing the sausage. Instead, it was only the cheese that was lightly battered, deep-fried with a sprinkle of sugar. I do want to emphasize that the corn dogs were well-prepared, crunchy, and well-seasoned - but I was really looking forward to the sausage. I was heartened to see that take-out was brisk. The staff in the kitchen was working furiously and quietly.

Yelp
Best Korean fried chicken in Michigan. The wings/drumsticks are big and juicy. The double fried method leads to crispy chicken without too much grease. Best of all, their soy garlic sauce is my all time favorite! I could go on and on. Make sure you also try their Korean tacos! Yum!

Yelp
This is the Korean wing and Korean fusion company that's part of Dae Jang Keum, similarly to the one in Troy. The Dosirak box, tteokbokki, veggie japchae and spicy salad are pretty good here. The last two items are from the main Dae Jang Keum restaurant menu. The tteokbokki was spicy, sweet and the rice cakes were nice and chewy. The japchae was all nicely seasoned. The BBQ chicken Dosirak box was okay.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. I am a huge fan of Korean food and Korean/Mexican fusion ( thank you David Chang) is usually amazing. This visit fell short though I will visit again to try the Kimchi fries. My main complaint is with the bulgogi taco. The bulgogi was dry and stringy. How is that possible? I love bulgogi and make it at home. The kimchi taco was better (a four on its own) but still ..... An indifferent staff does not add to the experience. I will come back and give it another try. I like the concept. It's close to me. Note that it is inside of Dae Jung Keung and there is a little sign for it in the window. Stay tuned for an updated review.

Yelp
Ordered online for takeout. Order was ready ahead of expected time. Customers are allowed with masks only. Had sanitizer near the entrance. Staff was also wearing masks and gloves. Ordered deep fried dumplings, wings (spicy) and popcorn chicken ( half and half). I liked wings very much. It was juicy. Dumplings was also good. One less star for pop corn chicken as few pieces were hard. But the portion size was generous. Would sure try other items in the menu next time

Yelp
Came here early on a Saturday right at opening. Was sat quickly and able to order. Order a little bit of everything because well everything just sounded so good! We ordered the popcorn chicken half and half and both sauces were delicious will order both again. The kimchi fries were flavor packed loaded and topped with spicy Mayo. The duk-bok-ki was good would've taken more of those instead of fish cake but that's neither here nor there. Can't wait to come back and try the tacos and Bibimbap!!

Yelp
Tried Hola Seoul today and I will definitely be adding them to my list of go to places. I ordered the bulgogi taco, deep fried dumplings, Seoul dumplings and wings. The taco and wings were delicious! The wings are huge(full drumsticks) and so crispy, but not heavy in grease. I went half and half with the sauce and it was perfect in spice and sweetness. The taco was also really tasty with the bulgogi meat. The dumplings were just okay, not bad at all, just not on the same level as the wings. I was looking forward to the Seoul dumplings, they are like a pork bun, but the flavor was just okay. Maybe they will add pork buns to the menu at some point? All in all super tasty wings. My mouth is watering thinking about them.

Yelp
Loved this place. We ordered the kimchi fries, one of each of the tacos, and the fried chicken wings and it was all so good! My favorite were the kimchi fries and my dad loved the chicken wings. The wings were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The tacos were decent but if you had to choose, get the fries and wings!

Yelp
Wow what a great surprise! I ordered some kimchi fries the order was huge! Covered in sauce and bacon and the fries were still crunchy! A bit spicy but really tasty! I also got tacos, spicy pork and chicken, they were excellent! I got all of this delivered on DoorDash and the food was hot and fresh when it arrived! I will be back 5 stars for sure!

Yelp
So this restaurant is Daejangeum with different name and different menu. When you call they will answer as Daejangeum so same Daejangeum food. Not too impressed since food had a piece of hair on it..

Yelp
Delicious! We ordered Korean tacos (several of each) and the fried dumplings for takeout and a Korean corndog for the kid...not realizing it's basically a donut on a stick (which she was thrilled to have for dinner, haha). The flavors were complex, and delightful, the service was super quick. I look forward to checking out the dine-in experience, hopefully soon.

Yelp
Delicious!!! Very impressed with our delivery today. Portion size is very generous. The fried chicken was excellent, we tried both sauces. The bulgogi bento box was awesome. The meat was high quality and had great flavor. The fried dumplings were not super greasy and also had great flavor and a yummy sauce. We will definitely be going back to try more menu items!

Yelp
Really good food, but trying to figure out what days they're open and not is too confusing, that it's easier to just find a place that is consistently open.

Yelp
This place was amazing. Chose it randomly because we were in the area and hungry. The Kimchi fries, bulgogi taco, and bulgogi box were all amazing. Exceeded our expectations and good sized portions too! The bulgogi box even had a piece of fried chicken and a wonton in it which I wasn't expecting and they were amazing! All of the sauces were so good, especially for the salad. Overall perfect meal!

Yelp
Chicken was just ok here. Meat itself was good. But the batter and sauce threw me off. The sauce tastes artificial and had a weird off taste and the batter was very thick and hard, almost stale like. Dukbokki and kimchi were forgettable.

K Y.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place because I love Korean fried chicken (kfc), however, this place just doesn't do it correctly. The chicken itself has nice crunchy breading, which is exactly what you want from kfc. And the flavors are quite good. However, they add way too much sauce to the chicken. It's absolutely drowning in sauce that the breading quickly gets soggy. I'd prefer if they just lightly brushed the sauce/glaze onto the chicken instead. In addition, a few of the larger chicken pieces were not fully cooked all the way through. I took a bite into a drumstick only to find that the meat on the inside was still pink and bloody. Gross!! I gave this place a second chance because I simply love kfc, and was extremely excited to see a place open up near me. Also, I wanted to see if they fixed the issues I had with them from my first visit. Sadly, on the second go around, they still had the same problems (too much sauce, undercooked chicken). I will not be coming here again. If you want good kfc, Seoul Street in Ann Arbor is much, much better.

Yelp
I found this one day looking through different delivery places and ordered the Bento Box with Bulgogi, and it was amazing. The food was sooo good and it was a solid value. I had both lunch and dinner in this meal! Then a friend of mine ordered the fish tacos. I do not even want to tell you how good they are because I don't want them to run out of them ever. But they are soooo amazing! They are quite possibly the best fish tacos I have ever had. My friend who turned me on to them said the only ones she has ever had better were in Puerto Rico. At my workplace, we have all become sold on Hola Seoul and it's amazing. Keep this little place alive and order food from here now!

Eric B.

Yelp
Probably the best take out I've ever had. The kimchi fries are extremely complex and flavorful. The bulgogi and spicy pork tacos were some of the best tacos I've ever had. The Korean fried chicken was crunchy, sweet, spicy, and juicy all at the same time. We got the drums and they were amazing. We're liking forward to trying the popcorn chicken and dumplings next. I can't wait to try everything on the menu. Spread the word. ONE THING TO NOTE: the restaurant name says "Korean BBQ" in big red letters, and not "Hola Seoul" so that was a bit confusing. Even with the confusion, the flavor made up for it.

Yelp
so delicious i loved this place! my fav things were the fried cheese, all the tacos, and the popcorn chicken. Highly recommend this place if you've never been!

Marilyn D.

Yelp
This place was really good! Got the bulgogi, it was super tasty! Highly recommend, big portions for the price. Got it through pick up, the staff seemed very nice.

Yelp
I did go back, but the "face people" speak almost no english and screwed up my order. Best order on the web and not in person.
google avatar

M W.

Yelp
Some of the best takeout Korean ever. A little bit of everything included with the meal and super yummy.

Holly E.

Yelp
Wanted to love this but unfortunately the food is just mediocre all around. Ordered one bulgogi, one chicken, and one pork taco and only the bulgogi was edible...the other two were full of fat/gristle and the pork had an unappetizing color and appearance. Ended up eating my single taco and getting a second lunch elsewhere (a bulgogi "sushi roll"), which just highlighted how much better bulgogi can be. Also, for those who care about health scores, the parent restaurant's is only 57. It could be such a great concept if the execution was better!

K R.

Yelp
The fried chicken is excellent. Not a fan of much else. I have had the kimchi fries (said bacon but I didn't see or taste any) corn dog ( made with a mini sausage?!!), and the Kalbi Box ( meat tough and no sauce?), tacos (flavorless). With that said the fried chicken is addictive, just wish it came with rice and ban chan

Esha L.

Yelp
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I placed an online order and paid and was told my food was being made. I went to go pick up my order and after waiting for 15 minutes in the most unorganized restaurants I had ever seen was told that they do not take online orders. Why was I able to place and pay for an online order when they do not accept them? Absolutely ridiculous. The staff did not even care or try to make my order and just proceeded to tell me they do not accept online orders. I will never be going back to this place!

Carly L.

Yelp
Holy moly this was delicious --such a tasty fusion that I wouldn't have thought of. The kimchi fries were delicious and the tacos were so good. Loved it and we will be back!!

Jung P.

Yelp
Ordered korean tacos fried chicken with garlic soy source. The chicken was so dried and tasted like rancid like as refrigerated long time and micro waved, I think that it was not freshly fried to order. Tacos was not too bad.
