Yucatan-style seafood: ceviche, tacos, grilled fish

"It’s hard to fathom how delicious some of the bites are at Holbox, the most affordable Michelin-starred restaurant in Los Angeles’s history. Last week my colleagues and I did a three-meal team bonding day with Holbox as the lunch pick. This smoked kanpachi taco, filled with runny queso Chihuahua and folded on the griddle, was my favorite dish of the mid-day meal. This is one of those dishes where the sum of its already excellent parts ends up in a multiplicity of flavors. We ended the meal with grilled kanpachi collars and head-on shrimp swimming in garlic butter, but this smoked kanpachi was the clear winner in my book. — Matthew Kang, correspondent, Eater" - Matthew Kang

"Situated in a Los Angeles food hall, Holbox was cited as an example of the more casual spots included on the list, illustrating that voters embraced restaurants beyond traditional fine-dining tasting menus." - Matthew Kang
