Holey City Bagels

Found this shop by accident walking through Charleston while on vacation. Best bight of food we had here!!! The pimento cream cheese was fantastic. The staff was so kind and welcoming. Made great recommendations! The bagels had a great crunch outside and soft chewy inside. 👌 perfection

Came here to get some bagels on vacation, I didn’t love that the menu wasn’t that easy to see, just little laminated paper on the counter and the bagels are pretty far back to see them. The guy helping us was nice. I got a sesame bagel, I liked that it had sesame seeds all the way around it, most places only do the top. I also got the rosemary salt bagel and didn’t love the rosemary (sensory thing), wish I could have seen them up close, I probably wouldn’t have ordered it. I thought the rosemary was going to be ground and inside the bagel and salt on top. Not rosemary sprigs and salt on top. My husband got an Asiago bagel. He found a hair in his. Pretty gross. He didn’t want to make a fuss of it, and I mean, what can you do when that happens? It just sucks. Not many places to sit inside and eat and all the spots were taken so we had to eat outside.

I had this spot saved to try while in town and luckily it ended up being a block away from our Airbnb! Coffee was great and so were the bagel sandwiches. Don’t be intimated by the line because it moves pretty quick and the food only took about 10-15 minutes for a busy Saturday morning. We tried the cinnamon raisin bagel with honey nut peanut butter and strawberry cream cheese and the holy moly (Taylor ham, bacon, sausage, egg and cheese) on the jalapeño cheddar bagel. Delicious!!

Holey City Bagels was my go to for two weeks straight. I could not get enough of the jalapeño cheddar bagel with chive cream cheese or even just regular cream cheese. Get there early because there is typically a line, but it is absolutely worth the wait. So good and definitely worth it.

Stopped here during my Thanksgiving road-trip rescue mission for snacks and ended up walking out with five different bagels—because self-control is for weekdays. Thankfully it wasn’t busy, so I got my carbs without a battle. My only suggestion: maybe pack the bagels in a zip-lock instead of the classic paper bag. By the time I got home, they looked like they’d been on a roller coaster. The veggie cream cheese? Elite. The kind that makes you forgive any life decisions. Didn’t get to try the coffee because I was sprinting back to the car, but the bagels alone were a win.

My husband and I went to the bagel shop with our infant daughter and ordered two Holey Moley breakfast sandwiches. The bagels were fantastic, I got the egg bagel he got the jalapeño cheddar, and the sandwiches were incredibly filling. This set us up perfectly for a day of walking around the city and we weren’t even hungry until dinner. The shop was busy so we were expecting a long wait but I walked down the block with our daughter and we only made it a few blocks before my husband said to head on back.

Awesome bagels and spreads. They have pork roll sandwiches and the usual offerings of coffee and soft drinks. The food is really good and the bagels were still warm when we ate them. The only downside is in the apathetic service at the bagel counter. Additionally (see photos), the garbage was stacked full for the 45 minutes we spent there. Customers were relegated to stacking stuff on top to avoid a trash avalanche. Staff was not busy, but failed to even notice the nasty trash bin or the struggles every customer was facing when leaving. This place is a gem in Charleston, and I would hate to see it close due to these "easy" mistakes that plague many unsuccessful eateries.

I recently had my bachelorette party in Charleston and we stayed right down the street from holy city bagels. These are some of the best bagels I’ve ever had. This place gets busy fast so make sure to get there early and be prepared for a line. However, totally worth the wait and staff is super friendly. They have gluten free options too that is great! 5* and totally recommend going here!

Local bagel shop in downtown Charleston! The wait was out the door when my family and I arrived. From when we got in line to ordering at the counter and getting our food, it took a little over 30 minutes. I ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel with peanut butter. The peanut butter is made in-house and has a hint of honey in it. I wish I could have a jar of their peanut butter because it was amazing. Additionally, peanut butter to bagel ratio was also the perfect amount. The place is somewhat small with a 3-4 tables inside if you want to dine in. I would recommend taking it to go because it gets noisy in there with people waiting for their food. They also have online ordering available. Personally, 30 minutes would be my limit for waiting, but I wouldn't blame anyone waiting a tad longer for how good the bagel was.

Rosemary Salt is next level! Cheddar Jalapeño second fave! The line was quick, the help was really friendly Glad they have a little parking for picking up.

Holey city bagels is located conveniently right off king street. The interior is quite spacious with a couple tables and chairs off to the side. It's a walk up and order stop, service was very fast. My bacon egg and cheese was delicious, the egg was a little runny, the cheese melted perfectly, and the bacon was crispy. My only complaint would be I felt the bagel was over toasted and a bit hard. My friends enjoyed their sausage egg and cheese, and the turkey sandwich. I also got a cold brew, it was very tastey. However one coffee and one egg sandwich was about $20 so keep that in mind. I'd recommend holey city bagels if you're looking for a good BEC bagel after a night out on long street!!

Our Uber driver recommended this bagel shop and he was spot on. We've lived around the world and have eaten a lot of bagels over the years and this has to be the BEST bagel we've ever had. My husband had the everything bagel w/lox. He said the smear was perfect. I had the avocado toast with tomato and added the hashbrowns on jalapeño cheddar. They are not chincy on portions Amazing. We ate WAY too much but couldn't stop ourselves. We have an 8 hour drive ahead of and I honestly think it will last me the whole trip. We will be back and definitely recommend you all. Oh get there early. We arrived around 0730 and by 8 there was a line outside. We can understand why now!

I had the best gluten free bagel here I have ever had. I got the egg and cheese on an everything gluten free and it was so good!!

The bagels are wonderful. Seasonings on both sides of the bagel! Try the Jalapeno cheddar or the everything bagel with plain cream cheese. Soo good. They don't have many hot coffee selections, but the juice options are great. Really friendly staff here.. the kindest in all of Charleston. They have tables inside and outside to sit at. You will wait in line if it's a busy weekend :)

Always on the hunt for a yummy breakfast sandwich when I travel and this was spectacular! I recommend ordering ahead as the line can get long and it's super easy to order online. There is parking across the street but limited. Everyone in there was so friendly and greeted you with a smile. I ordered a ham, egg, and cheese on their rosemary salt bagel. We took them to a beach on Sullivan's island and enjoyed them for a picnic. They were still hot when we arrived and so delicious. These bagels were so good we went back at the end of our trip to pick up before heading the airport. Asiago bagel is also delicious. There is a coffee shop connected that made a great honey latte and chai tea latte. You can order the coffee at the bagel shop but then head next door to pick it up. There's a few tables inside and a few outside along the store front. Overall, highly recommend stopping at Holey City Bagels if you like a good breakfast sandwich.

I decided to try Holey City Bagels after snagging a deal on Goodie Bag. I got there and the line was out the door and halfway down the block! Thankfully they had a note when I ordered that said to skip the line and go to the deli counter. It took a while before anyone helped me, but they were so kind once I was noticed. The bagels are so large and absolutely delicious. As someone from Jersey, I was so excited to see actual Taylor Ham in the case and can't wait to go back to try their breakfast sandwiches! They do have a very small lot across the street for parking, which was nice. I got lucky to get a spot, do be prepared to park somewhere else and walk.

Objectively a good bagel! Don't get the vegan cream cheese. Service is great, definitely a show face type of college town joint.

This place had a long line on a Saturday morning, but it was well worth the wait! The bagel sandwich I had was super yummy and the coffee was also AWESOME! the service as friendly, especially the barista! It's definitely worth checking out!

My husband ruined me when he took me to Long Island to have "real" bagel sandwiches. Holey City Bagels is the only place comparable to the "real deal" in Charleston! This establishment is owned by a former teacher, so their food, service, and northern deli-style ambiance is well-organized and fit for the masses. They even have free parking across the street! We recently found Holey City on the Goodiebag app, so now we competitively vie for bagel bags when they're available! These

3 words: GLUTEN FREE BAGELS. I have been craving bagels ever since I went gluten free a little over a year ago. One desperate (slightly hungover) morning, I Googled gluten free bagels in Charleston, and lo and behold: Holey City Bagels has them! Even better? They delivered!! So I obviously can't say a lot about the location itself since I ordered delivery, but I will definitely sing their praises on the bagel front. I had the gluten free sesame bagel sandwich with sausage and cheese. They asked specifically if I picked gluten free due to an allergy or preference, which I appreciated, as they take extra precaution with cross contamination for allergies. The bagel was way better than I expected for a GF option- great consistency and flavor! My husband and brother had regular bagel sandwiches, and they were both impressed by the bagels as well. I will definitely make the trip to Holey City Bagels next time I'm in Charleston to get my gluten free bagel fix!!

We came on a Saturday around 10:30 and it really filled up after we arrived! There is a menu when you first walk in, but the menu next to the register is marked if they have sold out any bagels. I got a rosemary salt bagel with chive cream cheese. My only complaint was there was not quite enough salt for my taste but would probably be plenty for anyone else! Service was quick and good. If you order coffee, you go across the hall to pick it up at another counter.

Best veggie bagel sandwich I have had in a while! It's hard to find sprouts so that was a win and the chewy texture of the bagel was to die for! Would recommend to anyone visiting!

Super amazing MUST STOP spot!! I am a bagel LOVER! So I had to try this place. And I sure wasn't disappointed!! I ordered a blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese, and an iced honey lavender latte. The bagel was perfectly crisp on the outside and perfectly soft and chewy on the inside. And when I tell you it was LOADED with cream cheese!! I am a barista and have my own "fancy coffee machine" so it's not super often I find a coffee I love. However, this honey lavender latte was really darn good! The honey was an excellent sweetener and it wasn't so overwhelming that I couldn't taste the espresso!! Speaking of the espresso, it was quite good, not bitter at all. I also ordered a sea salt bagel untoasted for a snack later, enjoyed that in the car a few hours later, incredibly delicious even without cream cheese!! So good and cute with sweet employees!

Be prepared for a long line, but the bagel is so worth it. I love a good NYC bagel and cream cheese and am super picky about the ones I eat. These are legit and their everything is covered in toppings. The garlic was okay and would not get again. All of their food are clearly labeled so you know about dietary restrictions. Staff is as quick as they can be given the long lines, but it is worth it for the food. Just got to go, but it seemed like a few people were hanging around and chatting so good place to sit down in the future.

Wow! Super fresh salt bagel (my fave) & delicious bacon chive cream cheese! We went inside to order, then sat outside in the bistro seating. Didn't see much of the inside but it was a bustling business for sure! Would definitely come back. Recommended for sure!

Best angles in Charleston, hands down. The morning line is well worth it! The Ambience is pretty much downtown Charleston and has that college area vibe going on. I'm an old dude but I love college towns, especially for the food choices.

Bagels and coffee are amazing. The coffee is some of the best I've ever had, I got the influencer and it was quality! Bacon egg and cheese was very good. Would recommend.

Holey sh*t these bagels are good - my first time at this spot on Cannon & it did not miss! Walked up to a line poking out the door at around 9AM on a Sunday Went with the bacon egg & cheese add avocado & hot sauce & it was genuinely top 3 bagels I have ever had Service was amazing - front of house managed the line effectively & very hard - I'll be back to this fine establishment in the future

I'm a big bagel fan, and until now felt like Charleston was missing a solid, high quality bagel place! It was a rainy and muggy Saturday today... which meant I was craving bagels! I easily placed an online order and it was ready 10 minutes later. I got two items: 1) BEC on everything: the BEC part was great, with crunchy bacon and melted cheese. The everything bagel was almost perfect- it's just slightly over salted, in my opinion. I don't tend to be salt sensitive, so I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this or if it was an "off" batch. The other seasonings were well balanced. 2) blueberry bagel with plain cream cheese: shops tend to make fruity bagels sweet, and I was so happy that wasn't the case here! Sweetness only came from the blueberries themselves, without any obvious additional sugars added. The cream cheese was a thick, large serving (as it should be, in my humble opinion). When you do a pick up order, you do not need to enter the main entrance but the side entrance on Cannon street. I didn't get a chance to check out the decor in the main area, but will be sure to return soon so I can sit, check out the space, and give their coffee a whirl!

Staff is so sweet and the restaurant itself is adorable. I ordered a poppy seed bagel with chive cream cheese and the cream cheese was delicious! I found my bagel a little too thin for my liking but it was so fluffy. I also got an iced chai and it was super sweet and hit the spot. Def recommend checking out this cute spot!

What I got: Salt, Asiago, and Everything bagels. Plain bagel w/ butter. 1/4 cup Bacon Scallion and Chive cream cheeses. Taylor Ham, Egg, & Cheese on Asiago bagel. Sausage, Egg, & Cheese on Salt bagel. Thoughts: Didn't expect this place to be so delicious. Wow! NYC quality bagels in Charleston. The Bacon Scallion cream cheese is super tasty. Really pleasant folks behind the register as well. The breakfast sandwiches, which I had on a visit two days later, were out of this world delicious. I love this place so much.

One of the best bagels, definitely the best in Charleston. Crispy on the outside and the sausage egg and cheese are perfectly done. Always a long line on the weekend. A must get in CHS

Great Bagels ... Bad execution. Ordered 4 bagels to go, everything, plain, salt and cinnamon. Put all 4 in same bag. Didn't separate sweet from savory. Got home cinnamon/ garlic mix yuck

When traveling I always try to locate a local bagel shop. My all time favorite breakfast is a bagel & lox. So when I found this spot, I was very excited to try it. I ordered an iced cold brew specialty coffee that was so sickening sweet that I had to throw it away, even after adding an additional shot of espresso once I got back to my air bnb. I would for sure suggest telling them how many pumps of syrup to put in it next time, or just get plain black and add my own cream and sugar. I ordered the Lox Deluxe sandwich on a garlic bagel and although it looked so pretty, they put WAY to much cream cheese on it. Additionally, I would try a different bagel next time, once mine was toasted all I could taste was a burnt garlic flavor. I love cream cheese but when I took the first bite I almost gagged with how much was on there. I had to wind up taking the entire sandwich apart and wiping 3/4 of the cream cheese off of it. I literally think they probably used a half a package of cream cheese or more on my sandwich. Ultimately I was disappointed with my coffee and food and had to throw a portion of both of them away. Now I will say, I would go back and try it again, but HIGHLY suggest less sweet in the specialty coffee and WAY less cream cheese. Really, I plan to order it on the side next time because there was so much, that I'm not sure what they might consider if you were to order it "light".

These bagels were amazing! There was a bit of a wait after ordering but it was so worth it. The ratio of filling to bagel was exactly right with the breakfast sandwiches, and the bagels were so fresh and delicious. I wish I lived closer and could come more often!

The line is long and out the door for bagels, but well worth the wait! I got a bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and added the scallion cream cheese and I ate the entire thing in one sitting! Their bagels change every day and the cream cheeses are made fresh. I got a double chai and it was delicious. The coffee shop is on the other side and not as busy as the bagel shop so a great place to sit and wait while you're waiting for your bagel. It took about 10 minutes for the bagel to come out.

I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel and it was delicious! We also got The Influencer hot, but they werent able to steam milk so we got it cold which was still good. The cups were small for over $7 but at this day and age, everything is expensive. Overall, a very delicious place to eat!

Good cream cheese to bagel ratio and they have an actual spicy jalapeño bagel. Bagel itself was meh and they did completely forget one bagel in our order that we ordered the night before.

My bagel order is super simple, it helps me taste the best bagels but you may disagree. I had a plain bagel with butter . I liked it, it was tasty. Overall may try something different another time. Would recommend!

Solid bagel option downtown! There's a small parking lot right across the street - also you can grab street parking fairly easily. On a Sunday morning, expect to wait 20-30 minutes (line will be out the door but it moves fairly quick). It's worth the wait but not like blow you away. Noting you can either wait in the bagel line or pop to their coffee bar door and order both from there. They have tables inside and a few outside. Enough people take theirs to go so it's easy to snag one. It's pretty low key with some cute decor. The sausage, egg and cheese bagel is really good! Gooey and hot but not so big you can't eat it functionally. Noting that many of their bagels are vegan!

Highly recommend Holey City Bagels if you're looking for quality breakfast or lunch! My husband ordered the Deluxe Lox on a Rosemary Salt bagel. The bagel choice was recommended by the sweet cashier & it did not disappoint! He said the cream cheese was abundant & the max amount he would have wanted on the sandwich. I normally go savory when ordering bagels out and about, but I was craving a pb&j. So, I asked for peanut butter & jelly on a Cinnamon Raisin bagel. Wow. Both spreads were also abundant and overflowing. You won't leave without sticky fingers. The bagel bread on both were thick, making us both full-ly satisfied upon finishing! My husband is a sucker for coffee, so before leaving, he ordered a Nitro Cold Brew. He was very happy with his last minute pick up. So, between the food, coffee, designated parking area & kind staff, we recommend HCB to others visiting Charleston! Just make sure you get there before 1pm, when they close.

A bagel is like the Sun that rises every morning and makes your day better. Today I came across one of the finest bagels in Charleston. It's not so complex when you make a bagel so perfect so soft and easy to eat. They also have my favorite Jalapeño Cheddar ( can never go wrong with it). When you are in Charleston downtown find this awesome place and be happy you are here

This is by far the best bagel place I've ever been to! We went here every morning on our bachelorette weekend trip as the bagels had us hooked from day one since we could walk there from our AirBnB! I will say the bagels are LOADED with cream cheese, which may be too much for some people, but it's nothing a plastic knife can't help with. We got a range of things (e.g., sausage egg & cheese bagel, rosemary salt bagel, asiago bagel, veggie delight, cinnamon bagel, and blueberry) and every single bagel was delicious. There wasn't anything that let us down! Their coffee is pretty good & since the line gets pretty long there in the mornings, the coffee usually comes out first which holds you over until your order comes out. Be mindful that about after 9:30, that place is going to have a line out the door (very worth it) and there is super limited seating. Either place a to go order or be prepared to wait to order/for your food. That said, the staff there was great and they work really hard to be quick and precise during rushes! Overall, great place -- check it out next time you're in Charleston!

The line on the weekends is absolutely nuts, but the quality of bagels and customer service is top notch! We got a bacon egg and cheese bagel and a sesame bagel. My only complaint is that butter costs $4, which seems a little wild. I got an iced white mocha and it was absolutely delicious! Not too sweet with the perfect amount of ice. The BEC bagel was out of this world!! 10/10 for quality and taste. I loved how salty the bagel was, and you could tell it was super fresh. Lots of street parking and a small lot as well. Definitely place an online order the night before if you want to cut the line on the weekends! They do shut down online ordering when it gets super busy, but I believe they still honor the prepaid orders.

Amazing bagels!! New York style bagel is incredible. We got the rosemary and salt and the Asiago both with chive cream cheese and egg and it was so delicious. We brought a half dozen home to enjoy for the rest of our trip.

Holey cow this place is great ! Nice service and of course amazing bagels with lots of different varieties. A bit heavy on the cream cheese but that's pretty normal from what I've experienced (I'm not a bagel expert). They make their peanut butter in house - very good. I

As a jersey native, I was thrilled to see this place open up. On a Sunday morning, there was a line of about 20 people waiting outside. An employee was regulating the crowd and even offered us samples of cold brew. Once inside, there was a quickly moving line to order. An assortment of bagel flavors and special cream cheeses of the day. They had pork roll/Taylor ham options and even lunch sandwiches on bagels. I was excited that there were also vegan butter and cream cheese for us lactose intolerant people. Overall excited about this place, bagels were thin and chewy vs the oversized and fluffy variety. I will be back!

BEST BAGEL IVE EVER HAD!!! I am traveling from Chapel Hill, NC where I am obsessed with a bagel shop there and I never thought I could find a bagel just as good, much less being better!! The line was out of the door around 10:30am on a Monday morning so I can only imagine the weekends. The coffee was really great as-well!!

The best bagel breakfast sandwich ever! This place is amazing, crazy busy, but still able to get people in and out quickly.

Been back quite a few times - even met the owner Bridget, who took the time to know my name and chat with me! High quality bagels and kind people. Definitely recommend!!!

Neighbors, Bridgette and Greg, care about Charleston, our neighborhood (Cannonborogh-Elliotborough), and (you guessed it) bagels. HCB successfully filled a downtown breakfast gap where you don't have to wait an hour, sit down at a buffet, or (worse) settle for a mediocre sandwich. We're lucky to be able to walk to BOTH Holey City and Bodega. There's room for both breakfast sandwiches and both will do VERY well downtown. Bagels should be able to stand on their own (plain, untoasted, taking a direct bite without a schmear) and HC's bagels DO. We enjoyed HCB's crunchiness, chewyness, and texture. We understand the challenge of boiling and baking such a bagel in house and compliment Bridgette and Greg on their commitment to the perfect bagel. For our first bagel run, we tried the cinnamon, asiago, and plain bagels. The cinnamon sugar bagel has cinnamon chunks (similar to a cinnamon roll) and a wonderful, darker flavor. Wifey loved the asiago and the plain was immediately put to use as an egg and cheese sandwich. We look forward to working our way down HCB's menu and trying EVERY bagel sandwich!

Super busy for a good bagel; I wasn't too happy about the bagel price. Seating was limited and in the walk way of customers waiting to buy their own bagels. The coffee shop connected was good and convenient when waiting for your bagel order but the time to wait and the price was not worth it overall in my opinion. Was good, would have been better if it was great.
