In Praise of The Florida Project’s Food Scenes | Eater

"A hotel breakfast dining room centered on a granite buffet laden with fresh fruit, muffins, assorted pastries, bacon, overflowing bowls of grapes and potted orchids; in the film it functions as an accessible abundance for non-guests, where a mother and young daughter sneak in to gorge, experiment with flavors, joke about candy forks, and share a joyful — ultimately final — communal meal before their lives unravel. The scene highlights the buffet’s role as both a rare treat and a temporary escape for people living in nearby long-term motels." - Garin Pirnia

First off, I’ll admit I’m a bit of a hotel snob — I usually stick to Hilton or Hyatt brands. But a coworker recommended this place, and since I know he’s pretty picky about cleanliness, I decided to give it a try. I’m glad I did! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The lobby was spotless, and overall the property felt well cared for. Parking does cost extra each night, but it’s convenient. Our room was very clean and the A/C worked great — it got nice and cold. There was a bit of a musty smell when we first walked in, which I think could be avoided if the A/C ran more consistently (it uses a motion sensor). The bed was absolutely amazing — one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in at a hotel. The shower got hot quickly, which was great, but the water pressure was on the weaker side. I really appreciated that they stocked Dove shampoo and body wash instead of cheap hotel brands. The mini fridge also worked perfectly. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise! There were bagels, bread, muffins, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal with mix-ins, and a good selection of cereals. They also had both turkey and pork sausage, two types of scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, and even a pancake machine that made fresh pancakes at the push of a button — they were delicious. I heard they sometimes have Mickey waffles too, though they weren’t available the day I stayed. Overall, I was impressed and will definitely be staying here again. A great value, clean rooms, friendly staff, and a breakfast that actually delivers!

I had the genuine pleasure and luck to find the holiday inn lake buena vista to spend some time here in the Orlando metropolitan area and to visit some of the famous attractions nearby. During my stay, I had a fantastic experience and this is genuinely thanks to Laura! Laura was a fantastic service host and was always welcoming and outgoing towards her guests (including me!) she would always check up on me and ask how I was doing and we eventually became good friends during the time of my stay. I would always encounter her checking in on not only the guests but her team of staff too making sure they are working hard and proficiently which I admire and really goes to show you how dedicated but yet how much she loves her job! Laura is a fantastic person with a genuine and sweet personality that makes any person feel welcomed and valued at the hotel. Her and her team of staff are all phenomenal and I really do think they deserve recognition for their fantastic customer service alongside the welcoming and amazing hospitality they provide! Keep up the fantastic work Laura! And most importantly I will definitely be coming back in the future to visit!

We were checked in by Armando, he was wonderful and very professional. He explained everything to us clearly, seeing as though this was our first time staying at this location. Be prepared and reading for the overnight parking fee, because as stated to us. The parking lot is privately owned, and thus the hotel charges guest. The breakfast options were great and changed daily, though for us we don't partake much being that all our meals are plant based. We were able to find a few things to partake of, thankful I was that they had almond milk for cereal 🥣. We appreciate the effort that they are trying to meet the different growing needs.

Google
Nice hotel good rooms and great location. Only issue, they run a complete scam with their parking. They charge you $30 dollars a night for parking that you pay at the front desk but have to register with a sketchy QR code with a very glitchy website. We payed as we knew we were in a tourist area. The charge was fine, however to our surprise a month later our rental car company was contacting us for a parking ticket issued by the hotel for not paying for parking. I contacted the hotel and they said contact the parking company as it is third party and they only take the payments and do nothing else. I called the parking company they say to call the hotel. I go back and forth and end up paying $1203.00 between paying the hotel, parking company and rental car company for the ticket. So unless you want to be triple charged for parking and ran in circles I do not recommend staying here

Google
I hate to leave this hotel a 1 star review because we have stayed here twice and the rooms are always clean, employees are always friendly, great gym! But this time I am to say the least, extremely angry. We arrived very late at night to check in and I knew there was a $26 fee for parking as it said on the hotel website, so just like any other hotel, I thought they would take it out of my bill. WRONG. They have a third party parking company that NO ONE told us about at check in or check out that you have to scan a bar code outside to pay. I thought the signs looked fishy so I didn’t pay attention to the signs. I’ve never seen signs to pay for parking at a hotel. If I need to pay for parking at a hotel, the hotel usually charges my bill. Well we got home from our trip and we had a letter from the parking company saying we were in violation of not paying to park and we now owe them $75!! WHAT?! Absolutely not! And it continues to say that if we don’t pay the $75 they will seek legal action. We were at this hotel for less than 10 hours. This is the craziest thing I have ever seen. I am so disappointed because I love this hotel and I always sing its praises to friends and family and encourage them to stay here when they’re at Disney, but I can’t do that anymore. I don’t think that we will be staying here again either. If someone at check in would have just TOLD us about the third party parking company, it would have been fine. But now I feel like I was tricked into giving this company an outrageous amount of money for parking for less than 10 hours.

We were looking to spend a couple of days in Florida for vacation, and we happened to stumble apon this holiday inn! The moment you walk through the doors, the staff treat you as if you were apart of their family! The Customer service is phenomenal and an employee that stood out to me was Nicole who was a clerk at the front desk. She was above and beyond and would always go out of her way to help us with any question or concern we would have during our stay and was the one who helped us have an enjoyable and excellent stay at the hotel. Any question we had we would ask her and she would gladly answer it with the most optimistic and helpful attitude always making sure that we were able to have a great stay. I have never seen this level of customer service and dedication towards the customer in any hotel I have stayed in during my years of traveling and Nicole surely stood out and went above and beyond and I really look forward to coming back in the near future for my next holiday and being able to have the highest and upmost quality of customer service provided by Nicole and the entire hotel staff. I’m very grateful to have stumbled upon this wonderful hotel and I am very appreciative of Nicole and her team of staff that help ensure the hotel is running smoothly and that all guests (including myself) have a great and positive experience! Thank you to all the staff and the Holiday Inn company for the amazing service and like I said before, I will be back very soon!

The staff are friendly. The hotel is clean. The bed is comfy.||These things may help you decide:||The hotel room doors slam loudly day and night. Also the ac unit in the room goes on and off with no obvious way to keep the fan constant. I don't recommend that you choose this place if you are a lite sleeper.||The free breakfast is convenient and saves a ton of $ over eating at a park. The buffet was very similar every day that we were there.||They have a shuttle service but none of the times worked for us. We used Uber/Lyft to get to and from the Disney parks for about $15 each way.||The people who work there are all friendly and helpful

Google
First of all I would like to thank the excellence of the employee Nicole for her exquisite attention, she left me extremely enthusiastic and satisfied for her sympathy as we were treated, I say this as a company executive when I see this type of work that nowadays is becoming increasingly difficult to find, I could not help but write this message. Congratulations to the hotel management To be able to have an employee of this level.

Yelp
By far the best hotel near the Disney area! Everyone is always smiling and super nice! Hotel is very very clean!

Yelp
We stayed overnight in Orlando and chose this hotel last minute for the night through Booking.com. The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating which made checking-in and out easy. Our room was spacious, but the water pressure in the shower was lacking which was a bit disappointing. The breakfast was decent with scrambled eggs, sausage patties, sausage links, waffles, and a few other options. I do wish they had bacon, though bacon always makes breakfast better! One downside is that parking isn't free. It costs $27+ per night which you pay by scanning a QR code. Since we were only there for one night, it wasn't too bad, but still costly. I can't imagine paying that for a longer stay. Yikes!

Phil M.

Yelp
The good - comfortable pillows and very good eggs for breakfast although it's lacking otherwise with just the basics. The bad - You have to pay for the parking which is a joke because many hotels in the area that are just non-resorts don't have parking fees. Never any clean towels in the gym. I was told there were no animals in this hotel but yet my asthma was bothering me. There was obviously an animal in my room previously and the room wasn't cleaned properly. The carpet was dirty in my room.

Yelp
Great hotel for a quick stay in Orlando. Breakfast was included. Not a lot of options but the food was ok. The hotel was pretty clean and the rooms were pretty big. Parking has to be done by scanning a QR code which is not the most convenient and rather expensive. There is not a ton of parking in the front and during the evening, they close every entrance except the main one. That's a big issue if you are coming in late after walking the theme parks, carrying a sleeping kiddo.

Yelp
Stayed for two nights, up from Miami. I have zero complaints about the room, service, breakfast. My only little complaint is that one of the elevators was out of order and it made it slow to go up and down. But other than that, our stay was great! We're a family of five, a big kid, a toddler, and an infant, and we were comfortable. The room is spacious for the kids to roam around and play. The room has a nook with a midsized fridge and a microwave and that's exactly what I needed to prepare and store snacks. The breakfast was really great and convenient. Staff kept everything clean and stocked. Honestly a great experience. Would absolutely stay again!

Yelp
Do not recommend! We always stay at the Hilton just across the way but it was $192/night so I booked here for $144 well what they don't tell you is the elevator is down prepare to wait 15-20 minutes to be able to go up and down. Also parking for 14 hours was over $27 the pool is freezing not heated. Hallways are dirty don't look like they haven't been vacuumed all week. After you add in the additional parking fees it's much closer to the $192 I would have just stayed across the road and been at a luxury resort with a nice outdoor area.

Yelp
Check in was quick and pleasant. We were recognized for our elite status, and given a bag with two waters. Parking was pricey, and if we hadn't had to pay, we'd give this HIX five stars. This Holiday Inn Express was comfortable & quiet. The bed was terrific and we slept well after waking 6 miles at Disney. The room was clean and the temperature was perfect. Breakfast was good - the eggs were fair (overcooked scrambled eggs). I love that they had cranberry juice (my favorite) & Mickey Mouse pancakes (cute and filling). Check out was quick and pleasant.

Yelp
Very nice hotel! First time staying here. Check in was easy. Plenty of parking in a lot. The room was bright and spacious. It had a nice entry way that allowed space between the bed and the door and the bathroom. We had a king bed. The room also had 2 nightstands, a coffee table, a pull out couch, a chair, a desk, a desk chair, a dresser, TV, a bench (we used to put our bags on), a mini fridge with freezer, coffee maker and coffee, a microwave, ans ice jug. The bathroom was also huge with a walk in shower and nice counter top. The lighting was great. Crisp clean white towels and sheets. The room was very clean and quiet. They provide a hot breakfast buffet. They had waffle and pancake batter along with a pancake maker and Mickey Mouse waffle maker. They also had cinnamon rolls, bagels, toast, yogurt, bananas, Turkey and pork sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits, sausage gravy, muffins, juices, milk, hard boiled eggs, cereal, oatmeal, coffee, tea, and an assortment of cream cheese, butter, and jelly. Very good! Lots of seating too! We paid $5 for parking a night. The pool was not open unfortunately but they said we could use the pool at the hotel next door, Aloft. Only issue we had was that online when booking it stated they offer Disney Annual Passholder discounts and First Responder Discounts. My boyfriend and I are both passholders and first responders. We were told the discount didn't apply to this location but a location closer to the parks. Online didn't state that information or difference unfortunately.

Yelp
Atmosphere: Clean and relatively new/fresh in appearance. Family friendly with the Disney theme spread across the hotel. Service: No problems. Not outstanding, but not terrible. Food: Typical free hot and cold breakfast foods in the morning with the Disney theme extended to the waffle iron in the shape of Mickey. Accommodations: Room was clean and comfortable. It would be nice if IHG properties added at least a handheld bidet feature as an option to bathrooms. It's close to Disney, shopping, and restaurants. Recommendation: It's a yes from me, dog.

Yelp
So extremely disappointed with management of this #Ing property. It took me over three hours to check in because the forms for a company credit card wasn't sent to our company at time of booking. They even ran one night on card. The front desk (after checking with her supervisor) would not allow me to have a key to get to my room. They told my company to fax form back, then an hour later when I went back in to the front desk, the woman at the desk said " Oh I'm sorry, the firm needs to be emailed. I flew in from Philadelphia to this location for work, afterwards I was going to meet my family for dinner and go to Disney. Three hours out of my day because of they were irresponsible doesn't give me much confidence in #HolidayInnExpress in the future.

Kathryn R.

Yelp
Beware, this hotel charges $28 per night for parking! It's not obvious on the website unless you look carefully. Unfortunately we did not. This is an okay hotel but certainly not worth spending that much for parking. Absolutely ridiculous! Greedy people taking advantage of people coming to Orlando to have fun. Shame on them.

Yelp
Love this hotel! Great costumer service and great breakfast. This hotel was the cleanest hotel we stayed at this trip, they must have an amazing team ( I am very picky about the cleaning, I see everything) and this one gets 5 stars for that. Comfortable beds, quiet, and nicely decorated. Highly recommend and will stay there again.

Yelp
Wonderful...the hotel is very clean and there is plenty of evidence that the staff is doing a great job of sanitizing. Rasheed, one of the owners was in the lobby during breakfast talking with and checking on many of the guests. That one act alone proves that this is a great and safe place to stay. A+ We also got a great price! Try this location out...I'd wager your experience will be the same... Highly recommended!!! #holidayinnexpress @holidayinnexpress

Yelp
Stayed here for a week and it was the most hospitable stay. The hotel was new, the bed was amazingly comfortable, and everyone was super friendly. The shuttles to Disney weren't worth the hassle (they took close to nearly an hour extra because of all the stops, and the waits). But the hotel being just a short distance from Disney Springs (less than 3 miles), taking a bus from the parks to Disney Springs at the end of the night and than an Uber to the cut costs by more than half. But the hospitality and value of the stay more than made for a delightful stay.

Vikas J.

Yelp
The staff was least helpful to the extent of being argumentative. Housekeeping services are provided at request which means if you miss it, you miss it. They will not provide your house keeping service. We asked for towels and they only provided 2 sets for three people. Told us very curtly that that is what they have. Then lady at the front desk on Mar 10, 2023 morning at 8 AM started arguing saying it was not her shift previous day when we asked for towels. She never said what she can do to make it right. You expect hotel staff to be courteous and help resolve guests problem. This lady was like as if this is hotel's problem and not hers. She works for the hotel and this makes her problem too. She started literally arguing, the least expected from a front desk hotel staff.

Yelp
After some rushed summer vacation planning I found Holiday Inn on a travel website. The location is close to every park you come to Florida for and the rates are extremely fair. When we got here the place was immaculate it was spotless from the lobby to the rooms and everywhere in between. The woman at the front desk was extremely nice and very helpful and she told us this Holiday Inn had just opened this past June so it was brand new. The room itself was everything you'd want out of a hotel room. It was spotless it was accommodating and it was just all around perfect. This hotel is 10/10!

Myriam K.

Yelp
Stayed at this hotel December 25th. I by mistake left my credit card and license in my room. The front desk called me and let me know that they found it and I was SO GRATEFUL! They told me they if I email them a mailing label they would mail it out to me. I sent the label the next day and It has now been 2 MONTHS and I cannot get a answer as to where my items are. I left countless messages and called so many times. I finally spoke to the manager Rachid who said that he will take care of it and call me back that same day- it never happened. I called again, left multiple messages but no response. I am so frustrated and not quite sure what to do anymore!

Yelp
Beds are comfortable. Rooms are clean. They have the big dispensers of J.R. Watkins in the shower. AC is slow to turn on. Took 5 min after it was set. Fire alarm went off at 10:15 am for about 30 seconds. I'm curious to see if that's just a mistake or a forced wake-up call seeing how the IHG hotels down here in South Florida audibly despise late check outs. But hey, I'm just a lowly Gold member (five nights away from platinum at this moment) why should I get special treatment? If the alarm didn't go off suspiciously I would give it 4 stars.

Laurie J.

Yelp
Wake up this morning and ants were all over my husband's clothes that were on a couch that was in the room. We informed the front desk and they sent housekeeping and then they sent engineering. We were offered another room which is right upstairs from the room we were and now it's ants all over in that room too. Then was told there were no more rooms available by front desk and there is nothing that they can do at this moment but sent engineer up there again. No one is being accommodating or showing concern. We came all the way from Phoenix Arizona to enjoy my 40th birthday , this is not how you handle customers or guests . At first we were told that the manager will call us when we asked for the manager number finally James Valle came to speak with us and put us in a room on the other side of the hotel. James was very accommodating and offered us a refund for two nights but definitely I think the staff needs to be trained more on customer service.

Yelp
I usually tend to avoid Holiday Inns, but I must admit, I had an excellent stay! This place is brand new, looks like it was just built. Customer service was great, I asked a few days before my reservation if I could have a king bed and I was able to get a king bed room as promised with no issues at all. The rooms themselves are nice and big. High ceilings, beautiful bathroom, nice big TV, and modern decorations. The rooms also come with a microwave, Keurig, and mini-fridge. I must say, this bed was probably the most comfortable bed I've ever had the pleasure of sleeping on in any hotel I've stayed at. I slept like a baby and woke up refreshed. This hotel also has free breakfast but I can't comment since I was unable to take advantage. But all of this plus free breakfast is an excellent value in my opinion. I'm already booking my next Disney trip with this hotel in mind. Highly recommend you give them a shot!

Richard S.

Yelp
I watched this hotel being built while I stayed at the hotel behind it. Gave it a shot and was impressed. Obviously clean, since it's new, and modern. Bed was awesome! So comfortable! Breakfast was free and fine. I'm a gold member. My only issue was I asked for a late checkout (4pm) and they said it would be a charge but 1pm would be the latest. I got back to the hotel at 1:05 and they were already cleaning me room. I would stay here again.

Yelp
So my girlfriend and I decided to drive from Port Saint Lucie to Orlando to go to Disney for our anniversary we arrived at 12 but called prior to ask if there was early check in and the lady said there was when we got their they didn't meet our request to be on a higher floor but that was fine then when we got in the room it was trashed from the people who had stayed there prior garbage on the floor blankets and towels all over the floor etc. Sadly didn't get any pictures. We went back to the front desk and she apologized but did nothing about it she said we had to wait until 3 to get another room because there were none available it wouldn't have been a problem if she had just told us from the jump that there was no early check in but we ended up having our plans pushed back its a shame we didn't get to enjoy our stay she said she would "try and get us an upgrade" and get us into a nicer room which I said would be okay but when we came in to see our room she did nothing we still had the same room again would've been okay if they had just not promised us anything then later I tried speaking to a manager he was away from his desk so gave my number so I could get a call back I called Saturday and it's Monday and I've yet to receive a call overall the new room was clean but the staff was dreadful mostly the manager who has done nothing about it they just didn't care about doing something to make the stay better WILL NOT BE STAYING AGAIN

Ally D.

Yelp
Found this hotel on a whim while eating dinner in Downtown Disney. Upon arrival the gentleman, who I assume was a manager, was very kind, funny and helpful. He was very accommodating for our request for a late check out since we where flying out late the next day. The room was very clean and seemed to be on the newer side of hotels I've stayed at. Another great advantage was we were about 5-10 minute drive from the outlets and downtown Disney. Would recommend for anyone wanting to stay in the area and be within driving distance of local activities but not in the center of hotel chaos. Can't beat the price for the quality!!

Susan W.

Yelp
We just stayed at this brand new Holiday Inn Express for 2 nights which just opened in June 2019. The hotel was immaculate and everything was great. The staff at the reception area were so friendly and helpful, and the general manager, Rachid is attentive to every detail in the hotel. He is open to all suggestions and comments about the hotel to make sure that everything is PERFECT! The rooms are very spacious and the beds are extremely comfortable. Breakfast was more than adequate for a jump start to the day. I would recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to be in the cleanest hotel in Orlando with the best service!!
