Health Food Cafe Holiday Is Moving to Downtown Portland | Eater Portland
"I found Holiday to be a new-ish, plant-based health-food cafe opened by Stumptown founder Duane Sorenson that is currently closed on SE Division until it relocates to a new downtown space this spring, according to a sign in the window. The business began as the Roman Candle pizzeria and bakery and slowly transitioned into a health-conscious restaurant and juice bar last spring, publicly noted in a Portland Monthly story in May 2018. Sorenson told the Oregonian the new location will be downtown in the Heart Coffee spot next to Bistro Agnes, and he has leased the Southeast space to the Submarine Hospitality team (Joshua McFadden, who took over neighboring Ava Gene’s in 2016). The O’s story hints the space might revert to a pizzeria, but nothing is confirmed, it’s unclear when Holiday will reopen, and calls to the restaurant have gone unanswered." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden
The Woodsman Tavern Will Close in Southeast Portland | Eater Portland
"I noted that Sorenson’s current health-food restaurant Holiday reflects his switch to a vegetable-heavy diet and was a motivating factor in his decision to change up his cafe." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Here’s What Went Down with Roman Candle’s Quiet Transformation Into a Health-Conscious Cafe | Eater Portland
"Rebranded from Roman Candle under Stumptown founder Duane Sorenson, Holiday is presented as a reggae-pumping, jungle-plant-adorned vegetarian (not vegan) and gluten-free cafe focused on juices, "plant-based" dinners with collaborators like Danny Bowien and Andy Ricker, and foraged mushroom toasts by an in-house forager; Sorenson is reportedly sober, health-conscious, and working behind the espresso machine. Portland Monthly framed the change as giving new life to a place that had felt "adrift, burnt out," and critic Karen Brooks supported the shift, while some regulars remain dismayed by the loss of the pizza-centric menu and higher prices. Sorenson is also launching Puff Coffee, a mail-order roaster near Woodsman Tavern." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden
