Everyone was so nice store was super clean and they had some really cool handmade candles at the front that I picked up. Such amazing scents and colors.

For such a small town, this grocery store delivers. I've heard some others say the prices are high, but I've shopped the regular grocery stores in towns within 100 miles of Chester and for the most part they are standard. They also are well stocked with fresh deli and bakery items, and have a gas station with competitive pricing

Good grocery store with wide selection of goods. We traveled through Chester and stopped by and found everything we needed. There is a gas station behind the store that was very convenient

The place even being under construction was very clean. I like how big the store is therefore offering more products to the people. The staff were very friendly and helpful. And yes, even tho they’re doing construction to the building they are still open. Cant wait to see what it’s going to look like when it’s done.

I heard the store inside is very nice very clean and the people there are nice and sweet and they they will do I mean they will walk your groceries out to your car they will do them for you they tell you good advice I mean I mean awesome place the people that are just so awesome.

People are nice and the place is always clean. We make it a point to get a sandwich from the deli when we come to Chester!

Great little holiday market with a big gas station. The staff was super friendly and there were plenty of self checkout kiosks. Everything is reasonably priced and the bathrooms were really clean.

I Purchased 1.5 lbs of hamburger meat Christmas eve day. Have shopped at Holiday in Chester for many years. Before now, I would have given them 5 Stars. Today I got out my digital scale to make 6 1/4 lb burgers with the "1.5 lb." package. I got exactly 5. I was shorted 1/4 lbs. Pretty surprised. I hope those brown bags I paid for that should go to folks in need are really going for that. Anyone else getting cheated at Holiday? Maybe it's the new Starbucks culture? Or, hopefully, a one time error.

Not too many options in Chester so I was really happy to find this grocery store in town. They have pretty much any food items you're looking for, and as an added bonus a small section of local souvenirs! I noticed some handmade soaps and bath bombs as well as stickers featuring local landmarks. There was a full service deli counter as well as a station to refill large water bottles. Plenty of parking, open late and pretty well stocked, make sure to come to Holiday Market for your picnic needs before adventuring out for the day. Was relieved to have this near our hotel since there's not many places for supplies in the area.

They have the best priced gas in Chester, so give them a visit. They are along Main St but inside past their parking lot. The busy spot is the deli sandwich shop. Seems like a steady flow of patrons. We thought we had to stock up before we headed out to our boat/cabin resting in the area, but their variety, freshness and prices makes it easy to relax and bring things home cold/hot and fresh items. I like their spice collections, chips, fancy soaps and overall selections of stuff.

Always stocked with great products and prices. The meat selection is extra good and at a great price. Open early to late, with gas prices that are also great.

Local market in Chester. I've driven past but not really stopped in until this recent visit to the Chester area. What a nice little market with plenty of home town charm. According to locals the best value and taste in hand made sandwiches. Plenty of local foods and flavors perfect for this local market. Delicious looking pies, fresh bread and baked goods. The liquor section had lots of deals which required a "store frequent buyer card", which was easy to get and free. Most choices you need in a local market but it is not a warehouse store so it does lack everything. Bring your own bags or be charged a fee for getting one on site.

Just your friendly neighborhood grocery store, near the shores of Lake Almanor. It's friendly. Folks were seemingly very Covid cautious as well. The bakery had a decent selection, but for some reason we couldn't find any hamburger buns. We did try the cinnamon rolls, which were just ok on their own, but it made great French toast! We picked up some ground beef for burgers and they turned out great. We also noticed the Deli was slicing boars head meat and found all the staples we needed, and some novelty ice cream sandwiches. Prices were reasonably. Staff was friendly and helpful. Selection all around was more than adequate. Pretty impressed overall!

Sign upon entry says masks are required, but mask requirement is not being enforced. Even some staff not wearing them. Sad!

While Holiday has upgraded the Chester store, adding additional food choices their prices have soared! Makes it difficult in these inflated times

Friendly service. Clean n well stocked. I ran in to get something to cook for my wife and I our 1st night in town. The Stake Kabobs we're outstanding. Fresh vegetables and a good tender cut of meat. The Deli Turkey was very good as well. Like all small town shops you are going to pay a little more BUT I do not mind when you get good fresh produce and meat. SUPPORT Small town business

Wide selection of healthier produce than say a bond or Ralph's they even have a deli for all your sandwiches and my favorite capri cheese salad !

Checkers were not wearing masks. Over half in the store not wearing masks. They said they (employees) are 'medically exempt'. Very disappointing. Holiday's continued statements that some cashiers are 'medically exempt' does nothing to alleviate the situation in terms of medically protecting customers from interactions with these employees. There are several neighbors here who are now moving to shopping for most items via Schwan Deliveries. Update around Labor Day. The checkers who we're stating they were 'medically exempt' from wearing masks were actually wearing small clear shields during the Labor Day weekend. With that we can assume they are able to wear shields and will hopefully do so to protect the local community going forward.

A shout out to the Holiday Market in Chester. I have been self isolating in Lake Almanor for a bit and made a few trips into town as needed for provisions. They seem to be keeping stocked as best they can and there was plenty of meat and produce. They are requiring masks and I appreciate it (come on is it really that big a deal to throw one on for the few minutes you are shopping until this all settles down?). They also instituted one way aisles which most people are observing. The staff here is friendly and given they are the only full service grocery store within 30 miles their prices are reasonable and even better if you join their loyalty card. I really appreciate the clerks and cashiers here who are still on the job despite the obvious risks.

Holiday Quality Foods has worked 2 ways for me. My first time in Chester was as a guest at a private home on Lake Almanor. There were grocery costs to be shared, a variety of tastes and food restrictions, and a few particular wine preferences. This Grocery passed the test and with a couple of sweet rolls thrown in for Breakfast. The second time was a Family trip up to the Warner Valley and Drakesbad. We needed ice, microbrew, and snacks for the in between times. Again success. I would also expect that the campers and fishermen out there would do equally well here. Plus I like the convenient hours and the local howdy that I receive each time I walk through those doors.

Love this market! They have added staff so long lines seem to be in the past. They have wonderful variety of cheeses, meats, crackers and of course wine. Employees very helpful and friendly. Great assortment of fruits and veggies too. Also have organic. Great store!

This is such a great market! For serving such a small town, it rivals larger grocery stores in more populated areas. The deli is terrific for grabbing sandwiches for a day on the boat and the alcohol section has all you could ask for!

Perfectly adequate market for such a small town. It reminds me of a Safeway or Lucky but they also carry some great alternative products; health foods, vitamins, etc., so props for that. Nice produce section. I was pleased to find lots of plump corn on the cob so late in the season. (The stores at home had run out.) They have a deli and they appear to sell plenty of delectable looking baked goods. I wish they sold coconut bliss, though. We all wanted some and ended up getting it at the little corner store near our resort.

I'm not even from Chester. Last night January 20th 2019 around 9pm me and my family stop by this little town to spend the night. went in to holiday market to buy some stuff and liquor. And I couldn't even buy the liquor because my boyfriend didn't have his Id and I was buying the liquor and I had my Id on me plus they wanted to Id my friend too when he was doing a separated transaction. I was so disappointed because we drive five hours away for this bs. Like the employee literally refuse to sell me the liquor when I'm over age. Very disappointed that's why I going to give you guys no stars just for that.

Good store, but management does not seem to have any interest in having employees wear masks (I hear the "medical exemption" BS, see staff with mask on their chin or dangling from an ear, silly face shields), and make absolutely no effort to have customers wear masks. Sorry, I just want a store that does not mix politics with business, so I will do my shopping when I am out of Chester.

I have managed I retail store similar to the holiday it's a very hard job to keep everything running smooth even if you have the best employees available. I would like to say Emily Joy, Debbie and please forgive me for leaving anybody else's name out do a wonderful job with customer service, the lady with the short blond hair in the produce always smiling always able to answer questions even though I'm 56 I think I know a lot about food, however she always answers my questions with kind words I haven't received my calendar for a while due to I'm going to assume my error on putting the wrong address I called I think I got it the next day or the following day very quickly and they were very kind about it corporate is very very professional and kind so for a small City a large city and medium City holiday is a great store thank you Emily for all you do

Great market with plenty of selection for anyone on a budget, looking to splurge for a special occasion, eating vegan or gluten free, and everything in between. Need a snack? Stop! Need a sandwich for lunch? Stop! Need dinner ingredients or milk or snacks for the drive home? Stop! Nice people working here too. Be sure to grab a quick member card and save.

I usually grab a sandwich from holiday for my lunch break. The past few times I had grabbed a sandwich they had not followed my order and put mayo when it was never marked. Since I'm allergic to mayo this is upsetting. HOWEVER! I called to express my frustration and the manager went above and beyond. She made me a new sandwich and delivered it to my work personally so that I would not be hungry while teaching. Talk about GREAT customer service.

Went in the day before with our dog, everyone said hi to us, even the workers. Then the next day this blonde female employee kicked us out. Didn't bother to ask if he was a service dog or not, so I didn't even bother

This is the only store I have been in over the past year that has demanded that I remove my mask in order to buy alcohol to check my ID. Due to work I have lived in 3 states and shopped in 5 over the past year and this is the only place that has done this. Keep in mind I have a large beard that hangs 5 inches below my mask. In a call with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control they confirmed that they do not require anyone to verify IDs by asking them to remove their mask and their undercover agents do not penalize anyone who does not ask masks to be removed. Multiple employees have done this on several occasions. After two complaints a representative called me back. During our conversation the the representative (I was told the president of the company would call back but he didn't identify himself as such if he was) said that it is the responsibilities of the cashiers to verify the ID matches therefore it is okay for them to require customers to pull down their mask. He dismissed that there was any risk involved in such an action because there is a plexiglass partition. This has been shown to be ineffective. There are also plenty of maskless people in the store including employees who where very small, and ineffective, plastic mouth guards. He also mentioned that "the TSA makes you pull down your mask." That wasn't passive aggressive or condescending... This representative didn't once apologize for an inconvenient or express sympathy. He simply called me to explain why I am wrong. I am not. Truly deplorable customer service. It is my opinion that Holiday Market is more worried about accidentally selling a 20 year old beer than exposing their customers to a deadly disease (if that's what this lotacracy is really about). It feels to me like they have a total disregard for the health and well being of their community, based on their terribly misguided policies. I recommend you shop elsewhere and keep yourself safe from being infected by COVID at Holiday Market.

From my experience, this is a really good place to pick up some deli sandwiches. I stopped by this grocery store to pick up supplies for our day in Lassen Park. I expected to get the typical pre-made, plastic-wrapped sandwich that leaves so much to be desired, but what I got was delicious, fresh, and made right in front of me. When the hunger settled in later in the day, and when we found a picnic table not buried beneath 20 feet of snow, those sandwiches were such a satisfying lunch. Two were turkey. Two were avocado. Everyone agreed they were good to the last bite.

Every person I turned to was so professional, polite and truly and genuinely nice. They were all so knowledgeable and courteous. The deli is incredible. The sandwiches are delicious and you'll have plenty of everything you ask for. I must also say that the people of Chester are some of the kindest and most welcoming people we've met throughout all of our travels through California, the US and overseas.

Wow - open on Labor Day Sunday until 9 or 10 pm? Late enough for us to make one last booze & food run. Thank you Holiday Quality Foods. Thank you.

This place is mediocre at best. It's a grocery store without the high quality food and wine that I look for when shopping at home in the Bay Area. The staff wonder around avoiding helping you and the prepared food should be avoided. If you're going to grab groceries for your holiday, head into lake almanor and hit up peninsula market instead.

This is 2 star experience today for a sandwich from the deli! PLEASE if someone reads this there from the market: Quality control! Do NOT make sandwiches with 2 star stale sliced sourdough bread! The other stuff on sandwich was fresh, but having to spit out or not even eat the stale bread really was a downer on a sandwich for 5.99! I hold high standards for this yuppie gourmet type market, please do not serve stale bread! I bumped up my rating to 3 stars as you have organic milk in quarts! Bravo!

Firstly, if you are coming from somewhere like the San Francisco Bay Area, L.A or Portland and are expecting quality, gourmet food shopping in the Chester/Lake Almanor area, forget it. It's just not going to happen here. But, if you need a Safeway or Lucky's type grocery store, this is the place. We're from the SF Bay Area and came here for a week's vacation. I had low expectations for the food shopping in this area and lugged up a lot of food items from my local grocery stores. Needing a few basics, we headed over to the Holiday Market. I was shocked as we started to wander the aisles. The selection of food items was just as good or better than Safeway stores (though I'm not a fan of Safeway...lol). We ended up buying some Boarhead lunchmeats at the deli that were decent, along with basics like eggs, milk, sour cream, etc. The prices were really good and even lower than what I find in the Bay Area. In fact, this grocery store carried our favorite brand of granola called Kind. Not only did they have a bigger variety than our grocery store back home, but the granola was a $1 cheaper per bag. We bought some Crystal ice cream for the week. It was good. The fruits and veggies were decent. We found some local corn and flour tortillas that were to die for. Service was friendly and fast. Very hometown. When we return next time, I won't be lugging up as many staples as I did this time and will do more buying at Holiday.

During our Christmas travel the fiance and I stopped at Holiday Quality Foods for some lunch. Holiday is a small independent grocery chain. It got a lot of the basics that you need. I pulled over and visit their deli section. While small, it does offer the basic. I decided to a sandwich for $4.99 and filled out the card with all my choices. I have to say, I was impressed. For $5 I got a pretty big sandwich with turkey, ham, and roast beef all thinly slice and made from the real stuff not processed, fresh provolone cheese, plenty of lettuce, peppers, onions, and topped off with a nice touch of honey mustard on a freshly baked dutch crunch roll. Came out around 8 inches long and stacked high. One of the better sandwiches I've had in a long and well worth $5. You could feed 2 people with 1 sandwich. They do offer some indoor seating which is nice for the cold winter days. Prices here for grocery is about 15% higher than in the suburbs, but you have to expect that coming to this store. The people here are friendly and wish you a Merry Christmas and pretty speedy too. Overall, if nothing else, stop by the deli and get a delicious sandwich, it's well worth the $5.

Absolutely love the store and the service. Great bakery and excellent meat department. For a small town it's a big time grocery store Sorry store is getting some flack about mask use. If the people wearing masks are offended they should ask themselves what's the big deal if there own mask is working.

I try very hard to not shop here anymore when i'm in town. The produce is not good. Half the time it's either rotten or not even ready to be eaten. Not to mention its way over priced. I've found going to the market on the lake has better produce. The manager is rude and doesn't like being bothered with complaints. She really should find a new job if she can't treat customers with respect.

This market is the best! Great selection of meats and produce, the employees are super friendly and do everything in their power to assist you. Great market for this mountain town.

I had a great experience at the bakery here so I had to write a review. We went camping at Lake Almanor for the Memorial Day Weekend and while there we celebrated my daughters 3rd birthday. Not being anywhere near the area I called Holiday a week in advance to order a birthday cake. All I knew was that my daughter wanted a Winnie and Tigger cake...The woman I talked to took my order without skipping a beat and helped me make decisions since I was couldn't physically see any examples. I was so thoroughly impressed when I picked up our cake on Sunday! Even down to the colors she chose the cake was beautiful and exactly what I wanted/needed. I just wish I knew the name of the woman who helped me! On top of that great customer service, my father said he thinks it may be the best cake he has ever had. I highly suggest the marble cake w/ bavarian cream filling and better cream icing.

Holiday Market in Chester is what every grocery store should aspire to be. Employees are always pleasant and helpful. And I appreciate their cheerfulness even when working a busy holiday! They stock standard grocery items but carry specialty items as well. The wine and liquor aisle is top notch too. I have never been disappointed when shopping here

So glad there is a good place in Chester to get sandwiches for a trip to Lassen. The sandwiches were very tasty, made quickly and reasonably priced. I took a peak at some of the staples I might get at home and pricing was similar, a happy surprise when away in a rural area.

Even in the most remote mountain town where you just want to escape it all, it's nice to have a well-stocked and reliable grocery store for all your last minute needs. I was vacationing in the nearby little resort town called Mill Creek and needed a food selection that was a couple steps beyond the absolute basics. Holiday has all the selection and quality of my local Safeway down the hill, with big name brands, a lot of local goods you couldn't find anywhere else, a fabulous liquor selection and top-notch service. Overall, it's the best combination of small town charm and big city selection.

A great worker owned food store. They also have a great sundry selection, with the same soap and products you'd find a Whole Foods. They are open late, which was very convenient for me when I was craving peaches. They also have a hot bar, small buffet and deli, so we were able to get our picnic goods here. Also, this is where I bought my white High School Musical hiking hat, complete with rhinestones and Zac Efron!

Bro holiday is my favorite, they know what's good. Always a good time getting groceries at holiday. The employees keep it real, they even let me rap over the intercom. If you can't find what you're looking for, the chill employees will blaze the trail and take you to exactly what you need, from canned cheese to organic celery. Keep in mind it's a rather pricey grocery store because it's located far from any major city. Treat yourself to a holiday card and you'll get fatty discounts on your food. The girls at the deli craft them sandwiches so well that you'll never go to subway again. On isle 9 you can get some awesome smelling hand soap that'll have you sniffin yourself all day. From raw meet to local seeds, holiday has all of your needs.

Great store. Has everything we need when vacationing in Chester. BEWARE - they don't take kindly to outsiders. Make sure you get your Rewards Card before checking out. Customer service is less than par if they suspect you are not a local. All of this is very confusing to me since I'm pretty sure tourism is what generates business in this sleepy town. Just sayin'...

Love the store, makes Chester & surrounding areas livable. The attitude of the checkers is another story! Rude & the most unfriendly I've seen in a grocery store. If you want to stay in business, please do some customer service training & smile for pitty sake! If you hate your job that much...move on.

I seriously still love this place. I got some Heath bar cookies that were like woah. We inhaled them in two rounds of Yahtzee.

At least its clean !! Prices are higher than what you should have to pay in a small town. The employees more so the managers are a joke it seems like the only things they do are gossip about the shoppers and other employees (and yes I have heard for myself) and if you do need help they aren't the friendliest bunch to ask a question to either they are to busy to help or they just plain ignore you.... If you do want a good market to go to I would check out Peninsula Market THEY ROCK !

We found this market on Yelp and stopped in while on a road trip during our visit to Chester. The store was well stocked and clean. We were able to find quick meal items as wells as organic salad makings and other supplies. It might even be the only market of this size in town.

Chester/Lake Almanor is so lucky to have such a great store! For being in such a small town one might think that this store would be small and very limited in its selection but that would be totally incorrect. This is a large store with a deli dept., a butcher who can cut meat for you, a large produce dept. with fresh foods. The prices are very reasonable if you get a Holiday card-( like a Safeway card or any other card that other stores have). At Holiday you earn points and can get 10% off or discounts at other local businesses.

Cute grocery store and everyone there is incredibly friendly. We live in town avoid doing large shops and only go for little essentials. It's waaaay expensive since it's the only groceries around. If you live near Chester and aren't rich, I recommend going to Chico and stalking up at WinCO, FoodMax, or Costco. Pretty good wine selection but again, prices are high. The sandwiches are indeed a deal and huge. We still go regularly because we try to support local businesses but having been laid off for the season we need to save. Maybe we'll start being loyal again this summer.

The only big supermarket in Chester and surrounding neighborhood. Fruits are Vegetables are not that fresh. Otherwise you can come here to get your stash of alcohol and necessities for grilling/fishing.

Was on vacation and needed milk for our daughter and found Holiday Market. Super clean with a great selection, we even ended up getting pre-made food for dinner: which was AMAZING! Also super friendly and helpful employees. Highly recommend this market if you are in the area and needing groceries or even just want something hot and yummy to eat.
