"Those seeking a hit of nostalgia can order an ice cream cake at this colorful Westmoreland bakery, but these aren’t your typical Baskin-Robbins rounds: Holler’s rocky road comes with chocolate candied hazelnuts, the chocolate chip cookie dough uses a vanilla-scented genoise, and the chocolate peanut butter is a nutty trifecta of peanut butter ice cream, peanut brittle, and peanut butter swirl. Holler also sells ice-cream-free cakes in flavors like s’mores and red velvet. Cakes start at $35, which people can order online." - Michelle Lopez, Brooke Jackson-Glidden

This place is part of the bigger restaurant that is attached. We sopped by for a quick frozen dessert treat and ended up with some of their made in house ice cream. I had the split scoop of coffee and vanilla bean ice cream. You definitely can't go wrong with ice cream. They do have some other desserts including both regular and ice cream cakes that I may need to try next time.

This ice cream restaurant does not simply serve ice cream. It has a gaming room with pinball machines, two basketball shooting games and more. There is also another section that serves food. As I walked along the interior, it just kept going and going. Oh yeah, there is a little shop inside too. They also have a nice outdoor dining area that have many picnic tables with umbrellas! Super fun place to eat when the weather is nice. I think this place is a great place to bring the whole family to have some great food, dessert and some fun at the gaming center afterwards. I had their ice cream cones and they are very good. I will have to try their food next time.

I was so excited to finally try Holler Treats, so maybe my expectations were too high, but I was disappointed. The slice of funfetti cake was beautiful, but the buttercream was absolutely tasteless - albeit perfectly silky and smooth. The cake itself was too moist in the middle and too dry towards the edges, and the primary flavor came from the strawberry jam, which initially was very sweet but then tasted not quite right. I ended up throwing away about half of the slice, which is a shame at $7 a pop. The toffee chocolate chip cookie was better, but again, the cookie part of the equation was fairly flavorless - there was just enough chocolate and toffee that you couldn't tell. I'm sorry to leave a poor review because I had been so excited to try this spot, but if I'm going to splurge, I want it to be worth the calories. Maybe the ice cream is better!

Google
Bring some Metformin because this place is SWEET!! Try the homemade drumstick, or the rice crispy treats with lucky charms in them! Also available are the awesome Texas style kolaches, and they serve Good Coffee!

Great service and delicious food! I am a big fan of spicy food and damn this sandwich is SPICY! Plus the Treats are delicious! National ice cream day so they were giving away scoops!

Google
I went here to try their ice cream and it wasn't bad. The texture was great but overall just average icecream. I would however give this place another go on the full restaurant side another time. The place is huge, the food smelled great and theres a large play area with video games for kids. Three stars for now since there's Better Icecream to be had in Portland.

We loved having our baby shower here! Wonderful service and a beautiful space. The cakes and cookie decorating were perfect.

Easy online ordering, exceeded expectations in decorating request, lovely presentation, easy pick-up, delicious cake and frosting (6” yellow cake with chocolate frosting). Thank you!

Yelp
The decor is where it's at. Lovely Terrazzo tables, plants, retro style and arcade games. They have coffee, ice cream, cookies and other treats. I'd def come back for the everything cookie. The employees are also friendly, which is a plus. It's a good place to chill and study, as there are outlets on the wall. More plants would be nice, but there isn't room for that. They're going for the kids and treats vibe, but if they have a better espresso machine and more homemade coffee shop pastries that'll put it over the top; considering people in Portland are health conscious, so sweets wouldn't be their go to.

Yelp
There wasn't many people for a Friday night and not sure why. It's a lovely space. Lots of room for sitting indoor and extra space on the side with arcade games. There was a small bday party heading out when we walked in (great venue for small bdays). This side space has about 9 arcade games and a quarter exchange machine. Each game was .50 to $1. Games: Basketball, pac-man, claw, etc. The sweet treats were delicious. There's not many places around the area open (which surprises me) with dessert. But happy to stumble upon this space. Many options for delicious treats- we got a lemon bar, chocolate crumble cookie, chocolate cake!! Yum yum!! Friendly staff, very helpful! There's a water station and plastic spoons next to the check-out table. We can't wait to go back!

Clare Q.

Yelp
5 stars alone for the lucky charms marshmallow treat. This place is delicious and a huge help when you want to include a fun local treat in a basket or grouping for a visitor, new employee or friend. Great place!

Jen V.

Yelp
If you want a break from the overly sweet-too decadent ice creams this is perfect! This feels like a perfect blend between rich flavors meets soft serve (which is what I prefer). The malted milk chocolate and s'mores was so delicious! And it's great that they have a mini arcade attached - making for a fun family friendly vibe. Such cute decor too!

Brooke H.

Yelp
I have always wanted to come here, and I finally made it happen when I found an available Too Good to Go bag available! They're usually so quick to go that I never get it in time. We went half an hour before close to pick up our treats and the interior is so cute. I love the colors, the patterns, the way the treats are displayed. I want to come back and spend more time checking the place out. The service was great. There were two employees there and they were friendly, kind, gave us an extra treat we said we were interested in, and helped me decide what kind of hot cocoa extras I wanted. In the box, we got a few cookies, a lemon bar and a slice of cake and all were fantastic! I'm a sucker for baked goods and these all had me totally satisfied. And the hot chocolate with peppermint syrup was delicious. It wasn't overly sweet like most hot chocolate is, truly focused on the chocolate flavor. I'll be back for more from this place in no time. Thanks for being kind of having delicious sweet treats!

Sarah C.

Yelp
Holy cute treat shop Batman! From the brightly colored murals to the terrazzo-style tables to the plants and disco balls adorning the shelves, I love the vibe of this place. With mostly indoor seating and a few outdoor tables, this is a great place to stop in for your ice cream or grab something to go. (If you are staying, you can pop over to their small arcade area for some fun games -- or the adjoining Holler Bar when the clock hits 5pm. ) As for the treats themselves, I enjoy their ice cream. It has a good texture and they offer some fun flavors. I've tried the coffee, the basil, and the strawberry shortcake, both in scoop and and sandwich form. The cost is a little pricey, but I enjoy taking the pints to go and rationing them at home. I'd love to try some of their baked goods in the future. Service has always been friendly. Street parking only.

Erick S.

Yelp
So many fun and unique ice cream flavors in the rotating menu. I do get sad when flavors I really enjoyed are retired but there's always something new that immediately catches my attention!! The small arcade in the shop is awesome too and I love the decor overall!

Linh T.

Yelp
Cute place where you purchase or wanna hang out on a coffee and/or dessert date. It is bright, trendy and fairly spacious. Although the prices are on a higher price range the quality is superb. The lemon pound cake and coffee scone are amazing! I highly recommend it. Next door is small arcade area and is connected to Holler. (Ordered the family meal from Holler and it comes with a pint of ice cream from Holler treats. The cookies and cream is delicious!) Will definitely come back and try other desserts they have.

Charlie T.

Yelp
Ice cream was delicious. A mixed texture of icey crumbly and creamy! Very different in a good way! I got the rosemary it was very delicious. Daughter got the ice cream cake which was also delicious! Cool arcade and happy 2 year anniversary the guys at the front gave us a slice of cake rich was amazing!!!!

Ploy N.

Yelp
Dropped by for a dessert after dinner. Ice cream had great consistency and sweetness. Not too many flavors to choose from but seriously not a drawback. The shop is part of a larger arcade/restaurant. Great energy and ambine, plus super friendly service.

Tim S.

Yelp
Great product and superb service. They have reasonable prices and a great selection Would love to try one of their icecream cakes! We'll be back!

Kari C.

Yelp
This place is really cute but they seem to be remodeling or closing down part of their space. They were out of a few items we tried to order & the staff wasn't overly friendly. Was really hoping to let the kids have a treat & enjoy a nice coffee but they only have drip. It was a rainy Sunday so it wasn't super busy. Happy to have visited but likely wouldn't be back.

Melody I.

Yelp
OK, how cute is this place?? The party goods are overpriced for my taste but they sure make for some cute store decor, not to mention the amazing plants and retro paraphernalia (disco balls! Roller skates!) draped everywhere. The cuteness and pastels drew me in; what can I say? I'm a sucker for mint green, disco balls, and plants. In my family, we all have different dessert preferences, so it's pretty rare to find a place like this that serves us all. We got the sprinkle doodle cookie, vanilla ice cream with sprinkles, raspberry lemon bar, rice crispie treat (large enough to eat in two sittings), and slice of pecan pie. We all left full and satisfied, with the one suggestion being that the pie slice would've been better warmed up. We didn't realize the dessert parlor is connected to an arcade connected to a restaurant, so we enjoyed some video games to work off the sugar high. This is one place I'd like to return to so I can try the rest of the menu!

Yelp
WE pre-ordered the Bourbon Pecan Pie for Christmas Eve Dinner with family. The process was really approachable and easy to manage. And, it was painless and easy to pick up on 12/24/2021. And, the pie surpassed all of our expectations, it was really well executed. It was sweet and moist (not overly dry). My hubby and I scoped out this place in November and got some pastries and coffee. The staff has been really helpful and positive. I also like that they do the $3 special for coffee drinks as well.

Bob K.

Yelp
Really great ice cream spot with a variety of flavors, homemade waffle cones, great shakes and a cool attached arcade. Wish they had a few more flavors but super great staff and a fun ambiance.

Dana H.

Yelp
Dropped into Holler Treats for dessert this evening. Big space with very cute branding. They have ice cream, cakes, ice cream cakes, pies, cookies and beverages. We had a drumstick which was giant and delicious for $10. The $12 creamsicle float was fine but pretty over priced considering it was just ice cream and Fanta (menu says it includes orange blossom water, but that subtlety was overpowered by the artificial orange of the Fanta). Lots of seating outside at tables which was nice. Excited to come again to try one of their tasty looking cakes. Happy to have this cute dessert shop in the neighborhood!

Marcia L.

Yelp
The cake is weird. We had the yellow cake with chocolate frosting. The sponge was very dense and had a flat overly-frozen taste. Not delicious. The frosting was good but wasn't light and fluffy like you'd expect. We got a yummy cookie for free cause they were closing. The peach pie ice cream was good.

Tannu S.

Yelp
Neat place with good flavors. We tried 4 of their flavors and and all of them were good. They do have vegan friendly sorbets that does taste great. Don't hesitate to ask. Their pistachio and strawberry shortcake is great. They do offer other desserts, shakes and floats as well. Visit them, you won't be disappointed.

Andy L.

Yelp
Absolute fire! Bummed that Holler next door closed, but Holler treats has everything you need. I love their ice cream sandwiches, just need to go when they have the non-standard flavors available. Definitely becoming a weekly stop for me.

Julia S.

Yelp
For ages I've wanted to stop here! The bright colors and inviting atmosphere got the family and I interested and swung by after a "meh" lunch next door. We weren't super impressed with the offerings on this Sunday afternoon, and wonder if there were more selections in the baked goods area on a different day. We got a few coffees and a mocha while ordering a slice of pecan pie (menu had offered banana cream but we were told they were out), and some pumpkin cookies. Again, I think I have a knack for picking the wrong menu items. The pie was fine, just seemed a bit old and a bit small for the price. The cookies were also OK, fluffy and sprinkled with some butterscotch chips. These cookies were yummy but not enough to "wow" me. I think this place has it down with getting people interested, the decor, staff and environment is wonderful. All it needs is some better tasting treats

Tera E.

Yelp
Found Holler Treats because they popped up on my IG one day and so we finally made it in. Went on a Sunday, which I'm not sure I would recommend because it's only street parking but we were lucky and found one right in front after circling the block once. It's really clean on the outside as well as the inside. Fun and happy decor with a few arcade games in the room beside them (wish the arcade accepted debit cards, cash only). We weren't greeted when entering (only customers in there) and the employee there didn't really seem excited to be there either. You would think that with the happy decor the attitude of the worker would match? She was polite but not very welcoming if that makes sense? I went in for ice cream and opted for the Lucky Charms which was also dairy free so it's nice that they have dairy free options. We also picked up a pint of the POG sherbet (will need to update once we dig into that), but the Lucky Charms was okay, don't think I would get it again. My daughter ordered a Vanilla milkshake (the worker made chocolate, we just took it anyways). Milkshakes are $12! How? Why? Everything else was a good price point. Also ordered a sprinkle doodle cookie which looked very delicious but turned out to be a bit dry. They have a small selection of sweets and had two different pies to choose from. Overall the decor and display of sweets were cool, customer service and the taste of what we had was meh. If you want more flavors of ice cream I would recommend Cloud City.

Erica M.

Yelp
No milkshake is worth $12 - this one included. I tried the peanut butter brownie milkshake. It was fine, just fine. The storefront is bright and colorful. Customer service was appropriate. I think it's a spot where you pay for the aesthetic more than the quality of the food.

Joe N.

Yelp
I really wanted to visit this place in person but wasn't able to make it. So, I got a mystery slice of cake on door dash. When it arrived, I was a little disappointed that it was red velvet. It's not my favorite cake, usually. But I committed to the mystery! So, I grabbed a fork and dug in. Man...let me tell you...this was instant happiness in my mouth. Soft fluffy cake and cream cheese frosting. It was sweet but not overwhelmingly so. Plus it was packaged well and wasn't a horror show when it arrived. Anyway, you should go here if you want something sweet. I hope to visit in person someday, myself.

Andie B.

Yelp
Y'all don't sleep on Holler Treats! We stopped by after lunch at Holler next door and picked up their ice cream sandwich and vanilla dream cake (not pictured). Everything was so heckin good! The cake was perfectly moist and just the right amount of sweet. I love that it had a custard filling. The ice cream sandwich was lovely as well. I loved the sandwich cookie and how well it suited the ice cream. The textures were super nice as well. While it is a bit pricy, I do believe the taste justifies it! I'll definitely be back and I'm eyeing ordering a custom cake for upcoming birthday celebrations!

Sarah S.

Yelp
Holler treats is a cute, happy, and semi bougie ice cream spot in Sellwood Moreland. Wish they had more grab and go treats. I've cream pints are tasty and the decor is fun!

Dan G.

Yelp
Great dessert spot - we got slice cake and ice cream cone. All was delicious...we will be back!

Billy V.

Yelp
Get everything, but don't sleep on the crazy good ice cream, sour gummy bears, and s'more inspired crispy treats. Excuse me while I spend 30 minutes meditating about their ice cream sandwiches.

M A.

Yelp
So glad to randomly walk by this place. It's super cute with a fun arcade attached. I only had the ice cream, but curious about their cakes and bars because they looked beautiful and were on par with pricing I've seen for most boutique bakeries. There aren't a ton of ice flavors, but I got the banana caramel or something like that and malted chocolate with a waffle cone and loved the combo! Both were delicious and creamy with a fresh waffle cone. Perfect for a summer day stroll around Sellwood!

Ritu K.

Yelp
Picked up some treats pre Christmas as I really loved their baked goods at their tea pop up at Abigail Hall. The Holler treats, unfortunately, did not live up to the tea treats. I'm chalking it up to ordering at the last minute and being left with few options. Everything we got was kind of underwhelming. Ended up with peppermint ice cream, some sugar cookies and a slice of gingerbread cake. It was very random, but pickings were slim last minute before the holidays. I thought the gingerbread cake was dry and I didn't love the flavor, the sugar cookies were meh and the peppermint ice cream was decent, but not great. It was a little disappointing as they make one of the best biscuits I've had in a very long time (a delicious peppermint/earl grey biscuit) for Abigail Hall. I'm not sure if I would head back down here. I do have a terrible sweet tooth and would drive far and wide for a decent cookie, but this was a disappointment. Still giving them a 4 for their memorable treats at Abigail Hall.

miss m.

Yelp
My experience with both the restaurant and treats were pretty bad. Uninterested, snarky staff on both sides with subpar food. Too bad because it would have been great to have another cool family friendly spot in Sellwood. Holler will now be a hard pass after two visits.

R T.

Yelp
Bought multiple deserts for thanksgiving. One of the cakes was terrible (stale). Sent polite email to them about the deserts and got no reply. Don't waste any money here. There are better options for desert and definitely better establishments that know how to deal with customer service.

KC K.

Yelp
I'm so surprised it only has 3 stars. My family and I think it deserve 5 stars. We tried chocolate and strawberry cake flavors and they were sooooo good. Yes we thought price was little bit high for an ice cream but everything is expensive now so I guess it's fair. If you buy a cup of coffee almost everyday, you can afford this place. Lol

Keaton W.

Yelp
Do I want to love this place?...yes. Unfortunately their overpriced and bland tasting treats make my love fall short.

Karen G.

Yelp
Meh. Way overpriced for what it is. Ice cream was decent, nothing to write home about... the "strawberry shortcake" was 90% vanilla, maybe a couple flecks of strawberry, but couldn't really taste it. My "mocha" tasted like hot water, when I asked the guy working he just muttered something about "yeah, our drinks aren't supposed to be sweet". Maybe at a specialty roaster I can see that, but you're a flippin dessert cafe. If you're afraid to give your customers a little sugar, you're not gonna be around much longer. You want coffee, go to Starbucks. You want something frozen, go to Nectar. Both are a block away, with a better selection at a fraction of the price. You want "fancy" coffee, Fairlane is two blocks away... still pricey but at least they're drinkable. Not to mention there alway seem to be flies buzzing around (or on) the pastries. Not just fruit flies, big obvious house flies. Staff either don't notice or just don't care... gross.

Tim J.

Yelp
This coffee shop and dessert shop, is amazing. I know I already left a review, a combination review for both holler and holler treats, but now here is my review for holler treats. First of all, convenience. I love that this dessert shop, is right outside my door of the Meetinghouse apartments. This means I don't have to cross busy streets, if I want a dessert, or a coffee. I can just go right outside my door, and get my excellent chocolate fix, after a nice meal at holler. There chocolate milkshakes that they now have, are amazing. I had one last week, and for $12, it is an excellent deal. It tastes really good, and it is a lot better, than your typical milkshakes at Dairy Queen. So all in all, if you live in the meeting house apartments, and are looking for a built-in restaurant, and a built-in coffee shop and dessert shop, right downstairs on the ground floor of the Meetinghouse apartments, this is your place. It is like living in a hotel, that has a built-in coffee shop and dessert shop and restaurant outside the door. Which is exactly what I was waiting for all along. Oh if you want excellent dessert and excellent coffee, come to holler treats. you will not be disappointed.

Sophie G.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place, because the branding is so fun and I'll always welcome a new place to get sweets in the neighborhood. Pricing is uneven -- some things seem priced appropriately (I think $7 for a piece of a homemade cake or pie is reasonable), but some are absurdly high -- $12 for an ice cream float? $7 for a small seven-layer bar? I definitely think there's room for improvement in how Holler calibrates it's pricing. I ordered a slice of the vanilla dream cake. The cake itself was moist and delicious, as was the custard filling. The buttercream, however, left a lot to be desired. It didn't have enough sugar, so it ended up tasting bland and greasy as opposed to the sweet hit you expect from really good American buttercream (American buttercream is just butter and sugar, after all). Even my partner, who doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, remarked that the buttercream wasn't sweet enough. I think Holler Treats has a lot of potential -- I'd love to see more inventive cake and ice cream flavors (for a more experimental Milk Bar kind of vibe) and more thoughtful prices. I look forward to coming back as they work out the kinks.

Mareena M.

Yelp
I was so excited when I saw they were opening the treats side to the holler. Their drumsticks are the best thing they have for sure. The other treats never really seem fresh and the coffee is just not good. I've gone multiple times and ordered different stuff really trying to like it as this is very close to home for me. But sadly it's just not very good. Coffee tastes very watered down. Staff varies some are very sweet while others seem extremely uninterested in what they're doing.

Roxy O.

Yelp
My husband brought me home a pint of the chocolate malt ice cream and I've been dreaming about it the last few days. I don't even like chocolate ice cream but it was...unforgettable and delicious. I need more!
