Hollin Farms

My partner and I have been making Hollin Farms an annual trip. Only about an hour from Arlington and a great place to get away from the city and get into the mode of fall festivities. Beautiful views of the farm-filled countryside and excellent farm goods like apple cider donuts, honey, and other fresh produce.

Beautiful views and lovely apple orchard. Dog friendly and easy for children to navigate. Tasty fresh pressed apple cider and yummy donuts. Arriving as they open makes for a fun family outing.

We came here around the end of June for peach picking, and the experience was fun! Their peaches had great quality and was ready for picking. The apricot and plums were still a bit far from ready. There was no cherry anymore during that time. Overall, it’s a nice place for peach picking - just need to make sure that you stay hydrated when it’s hot out there.

Such a fun fall activity! We were pleasantly surprised they still had apple picking this late in the season (Oct 29). The options were limited but it was still fun! The pumpkin selection was gorgeous, and the apple cider and apple cider donuts were amazing. The staff was incredibly kind and the experience overall was a great one. We wish we had come a bit earlier in the season for prime time leaves, but it was still really stunning even this late!

What a fun day we had at Hollín farms! It was a nice warm 80 degree day! My son had fun picking out some lettuce and apples. We got some good apples from trees but don’t forget to check the floor, we got some good ones. We got a variety of apples including the green Granny Smith apples. I know $25 for the bag might seem pricey for some but you’re helping keep the farm running. And you’re paying for the experience. My husband bought the Apple cider donuts 6 for $8.99. We all loved them! They do have limited “lunch” options if you’re hungry. They also sell water, soda, sparking water and apple cider slushy.

A little farm in Delaplane VA that is well visited. A lot of families, single women and dogs. A few outhouses selling the regular apple butter, cider, and apple cider donuts. Hotdogs and various sandwiches for lunch. Pick your own apples are $25 for a peck...that is a small bag. You can do better at your local Wegmans. Not anything special, nothing for children to play on, no special displays. It is windy on top of the mountain. The best part of this trip is getting to the farm. Mountain scenery and bucolic views are lovely. This is our 2nd time in the last three years. It was better during COVID...not as many people with kids or dogs. It's OK, but definitely an expensive trip.

I didn't enjoy the expensive prices and the vibe of that farm. The prices were high and the atmosphere was unwelcoming. For $30, I received a small plastic bag of peaches. This is significantly more expensive than purchasing peaches from a store. Additionally, guests are not permitted to sample fruits or berries on the farm. Staff members closely monitor every guest to ensure compliance with this rule. If you purchase bags and fill them with fruits in your car, you will not be allowed to re-enter the farm without purchasing additional bags. The guards will repeatedly inform you that you must purchase more bags in order to walk around or take pictures. Overall, I found the farm to be an unfriendly and unwelcoming place to visit. I recommend that you consider visiting a different farm instead.
