Hollyhock Vegetarian Fairtrade Cafe

I love the Hollyhock generally - it's beautifully located, hidden away but with beautiful views of trees and the river. They've actually asked people to stop taking photographs because so many people like to take excessive photos for social media! The service was good, and there is a fire and blankets for people to use. Indoor and outdoor seating. A lot of different food and drink options. All over, very good. One negative is that I had a raspberry and pistachio cake and it had a horrible aftertaste. It was as though someone had put in too much bicarbonate of soda or something like that. It was genuinely awful. I'm not sure if it's just that cake, or that batch, but I wouldn't recommend that bake. Everything else seemed good.

Its a fairytale vibe, Terrace Gardens , rustic, and cozy atmosphere, offering stunning views of the Thames. Primarily vegetarian/vegan, with organic and fairtrade options like quiches, pasties, and vegan cakes. Its a hidden gem.

A really sweet spot in Richmond, to take a break and enjoy the views of the gardens and river. Loved the vegan options. I had a vegan apple pie. It was very busy when I went because it was the weekend so you had to wait to get one of the more coveted seats but worth it. It's dog friendly, so lots of dogs spotted there.

Popped in for the first time while out walking the dog. Everyone working there was super friendly. Tried a few of the pies and quiches from the counter — all of them were absolutely delicious. The cheese and potato pie was especially good. They even gave my dog a little treat — so lovely. Definitely need to come back for more!

Lovely little cafe hidden in the Terrace Gardens of Richmond. Visited with my aunt and uncle for a weekday lunch. The staff were really friendly and the place has a nice feel to it. Only reason for dropping a star is the prices in my opinion are slightly high and the tables outside could probably do with being updated or have a panel beater reshape them. The one we sat at had a slope and I nearly lost my coffee! That said, would I recommend or return, definitely!

It’s a beautiful hidden gem! :) it’s got an absolutely beautiful view over the park and river. Lovely friendly smiles always welcome you! Nice food and as I am vegan, you can find a few nice things on the menu.( not much variety of food though) pastries and cakes are always delicious and fresh. The cafe has a nice vibe in summer and also winter. It is definitely one of my favorite cafes.

Feels like a secret hideaway with spectacular views. It's an oddly chilled cafe, just off Richmond Hill. We've not eaten there but there's a good selection of teas and coffees and the staff are always friendly. Most importantly, it's dog-friendly.

The food here was great. Long line, but hang in there, you will be rewarded with a luscious view of the park and grounds. Very civilized!

View is excellent, great outdoor seating area which is perfect for a sunny day. Was able to get a table easily on Saturday lunchtime. Food on the other hand was expensive and disappointing. I had macaroni and cheese for £5.95. It looked like a small child's portion. I think there must have been around 12 pieces of pasta, and it didn't taste of cheese. My husband had a pie which looked ok but again for the same price doesn't come with a salad or anything. To add a salad would have cost another £4. Please can you offer better value for money and give enough mac and cheese to satisfy an adult. I will probably only go back for a coffee.

Good but not that good. I was nearby and gave it a try. Good bits: Location - overlooking the river, set within a park (it's not accessible by road!) Food was tasty Atmosphere is chilled Outdoor area to sit and eat is large with great view Bad bits: Selection of food is limited Food seems a bit expensive - I had a salad plate: that is bean salad, salad leaves and some chopped cucumber and feta which was £4.90!!! Seemed a bit steep for that. Plus I had to supplement that with a goats cheese tart to make it a worthwhile size meal.

The setting of this cafe has to be one of London's finest. Look down and you see the riverside sweep of Richmond, beautiful whatever the weather; look around you and take-in the elegantly sculpted Terrace Gardens. It's a great place to go to escape the crowds or to take a break from your long, if blissful, walk. This fairtrade cafe has a good range of juices, herb teas and coffee. Snack choice varies. Not as cheap as you might have hoped but there are surprising bargains to be found on the second-hand bookshelves.

I used to walk past the beautiful Hollyhock cafe everyday on my way to work, on my 10 minute strolling commute! Sadly, I've not lived in Richmond for a while, but if you are visiting, it's well worth stopping here. Tea and cakes were the order of the day, and a perusal of the fantastic second-hand books for sale. I still have my copy of "The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner" picked up for 50p!

Place is heaven on Thames, although slightly halfhearted hippie food. Coffee surprisingly good though. Seven stars for the whole experience, two for the food, but still highly recommended.

My last collision within the Richmond rift crash landed my Tardis into this intergalactic fair trade coffee in the terrace gardens. Great place to enjoy a tea overlooking the Thames.

A really chilled and beautiful cafe, makes you feel like London and all its trappings are a million miles away

An idyllic little spot for a coffee, overlooking the newly restored gardens and the river. No sense of being rushed and the coffee is good. I liked it so much I put it into a story I was writing!

This place and its companion cafe, the Tide Tables at Richmond Bridge (closed Nov to Feb) are brilliant. I often come here to refuel after kayaking on the Thames. The filter coffe is very weak and disappointing (free top-ups on weekdays though) but the Americano is one of the best strong but not bitter coffees I've ever found. The chocolate biscuity things and croissants are good. Pity it's vegetarian though - I could do with a bacon sandwich after a good workout. The staff are pleasant. The surroundings are really cute - trees, sloping gardens, a brief view of the river. It's a bit like Little Red Riding Hood's grandma's cottage, but without the violence.

Great place with awesome view. Last time I was there I was with a friends and we just stood there and relaxed for one whole hour.

Beautiful cafe set in a perfect, peaceful location. Lots of veggie food.
