Hollywood Diner

Came here for a lunch work on a Monday around noon. Was a little busy but our party of four were seated right away. The menu features the usual diner fare with a good variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches, platters and meals. I got the buffalo chicken wrap with onion rings. The good - the onion rings were outstanding. Great batter flavor and the right amount of crispness. The so so - the wrap was nothing special. Breaded chicken on a wheat tortilla with cheese and some buffalo sauce. I really did not care much for the buffalo sauce, it was not spicy or tangy at all. The sauce was kind of dried out and more of a robust almost paste to it. The service was adequate from our service, not very friendly though. The food did come out very quickly and the staff at the counter was very friendly and chatty when we went to pay. Overall, not a bad experience but not a place I would go back to with so many other choices in NYC.

Had an amazing time! Food was delicious. Hollywood burger was perfect and the hot chocolate with whipped cream was so good on such a cold night. We were a small group that kept getting bigger and they accommodated us with smiles and great service. Can’t wait to go back! Thanks again.

It's a factory. Drop the food at the table as quickly as possible and drop the check. Food is unremarkable at best. I Know that restaurants need to flip tables quickly, but it shouldn't be at the expense of food quality or service standards. Location is convenient. Dining room was warm on a cold day.

The food and coffee were pretty decent: lovely fries, solid BLT and pastrami on rye. However, the sandwiches were advertised on the menu as served with coleslaw and pickle—got neither. Ambiance is cute, classic diner vibe. Service somewhat inattentive. Be advised that the prices listed on the menu are for cash payments; with card there's a 4% surcharged. We ended up paying over $70 for a couple of sandwiches with sides and coffee—kinda steep, probably won't be going back.

The sandwich and mousse were great! The pie on the other hand, i doubt was ‘homemade’ as the menu stated. I was so excited for that pie but it was honestly a pretty dissappointing slice. The crust was completely devoid of taste and even texture. Oh well. The vibes were good and the music was fantastic! And the people and service were fun. But dont get the pie. (Or note to diner Update your pie!)

"Hollywood dinner" had a special ring to it - that's what we thought when we first saw the name. First; We tried the French onion soup! It didn't make me want to order anything else!!! The soup tasted bland and had a watery texture, no flavor -I would say water was added or cooked with instead of broth - with and different types of chopped toast thrown in earlier . It said it’s served with melted mozzarella cheese so can’t complain about this part. My partner also had pastrami sandwich and ring onion and he was ok with them BUT based on his words ( it used to be better ) Also when the receipt came, they also made us pay more for the onion rings as it says ( substitute / switch to onion rings for $3.5 and they billed us the original price)

Small to medium sized diner on the corner, right by the subway. Fairly empty at 1PM, so we were seated right away. Good service. Coffee hot and delicious. Eggs up were okay, as was my wife’s breakfast sandwich. Our milk and sugar scraps were picked up right away, and our coffee cups refilled just as quickly. Tiny, old bathrooms. But the diner was just what we were looking for on a rainy day after a doctor visit; good service, good food, and a place to relax without being rushed. Plus, the bill was remarkably inexpensive for these days.

Great spot with delicious breakfast omelette and home fries. I ordered an avocado and spinach omelette that came with a side of home fries and toast. The omelette was made with three eggs and was well made. The home fries were fallen apart but had the golden crispiness and delicious flavor. My husband ordered the turkey bacon croissant sandwich and he absolutely loved it.

Among your fancy coffee shops in the area, this is your no frill New York style diner that you see in the Seinfeld episodes. Now when opening the menu be careful on the "weekend brunch" because that comes with the cocktails and if that's not what you want and you just want the eggs, meat and toast then flip over a page or two or just order off the menu. So if you like the greasy spoon type of diner this is it. If you want something fancy then go somewhere else. New Yorkers like me sometimes just want some "home style" diner food.

Favorite late night big group hang in the neighborhood! They're always open, and willing to put tables together for 10+ people. They even allow separate checks! And they're not grumpy! Are we even in NYC? They keep your water glass full, everything is clean, and the menu has just about anything you could want. The pancakes are really good and full of fresh fruit. I'm not as big a fan of their desserts (the tiramisu is heavy on the sponge cake, and the homemade apple pie has a chemical taste to it). All in all, excellent service, good menu, lots of vegetarian options if you want real food.

Food was awful, you are better off getting Shake Shack or going anywhere else. This place needs an inspection. Also, the quality of the food is just terrible, I don't even remember school lunches being this bad. To top it all off, the workers were watching inappropriate videos on their phones in front of customers. Indecent diner in every aspect.

Oh my dear Greek neighbors with the best Matzo Ball Soup and homemade Spinach Pie...THE NEIGHBORHOOD MISSES YOU...but GREAT NEWS...after a terrible fire, it seems that HOLLYWOOD DINER is going to try to open up for the Halloween Parade!!! That's the word from the Management. Let's wish them the BEST! GO HOLLYWOOD, GO! Yasou!

I've dined many moons ago at the Hollywood Diner.. I ordered a grilled cheese with tomato and had fond memories. Today I really had a craving for a turkey burger and tomato soup. Thus I ordered delivery for the first time. Simple, turkey burger with a packet of each: mustard, Mayo and ketchup. The order arrived on time and I was glad that my receipt showed my note to include utensils and condiments. Well to my dismay there were none. You know when you get delivery you search at the bottom of the plastic bag then the brown paper bag ( I'm unsure why we still use those) and .. there... is.. absolutely.. nothing.. No condiments, no utensils.. nada colada. The positive, the turkey burger was hot and very tasty, very naked. At least a pickle came with the burger. The tomato soup was on a whole different level. The soup tasted like Parmesan Tomato soup, rich, velvety and delicious. I'm hoping to order again and the $3 perk for orders $20 was a nice perk. But.. if no condiments arrive a second time then that delivery will be my last.

Very cool little place that's opened 24 hours. I had Robert De Nero platter. It was very good. The service was great and the place was very clean. They also have a little bar area. Check this place out if you are in the area.

The Hollywood Diner is a staple in its neighborhood. The diner has been consistent over the years as many others have come and gone. Their breakfast omelet is substantial so you will not leave hungry after eating here. Staff are nice if you speak with them. You can get the NYC diner ambiance by going here for sure.

Excellent customer service. Best fresh brewed iced tea I've had in a long time. Very nice workers there. We'll definitely be back soon.

They have been closed for a month, with no updates, but I've always had a positive experience there. Food is fine, however I do the usual omelets, soup and sandwiches. Nothing fancy. Pricy, but for the area understandable.

Has anyone noticed the lack of heat at The Hollywood Diner on 6th Ave.? I bemoan the post-fire loss of Arturo to Gramercy Kitchen; but Julio is doing a good job as a replacement. Jaime, Blanca, Manuel, Ruben all still there.

I was looking for a place to have breakfast and an Irish coffee. This was the closest place to me, so I decided to go in and check the menu. When I looked at the menu, I decided to stay. I sat at a booth. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and an Irish coffee. The Irish coffee was filled to the top. It was hard to drink it at first. The breakfast sandwich was good, but my bagel was toasted more than well done. I was hungry so I decided to eat it. I did like the decor of the diner. It was an okay experience.

Cramped but lively diner of a sort that is quietly vanishing in NYC. Reasonably priced diner staples with hurried, but efficient service. I think they're open 24-7.

RUN! Unless you love burning money, this place is robbery. It's $20 for a bad omelette. It's pretty cool that they're open 24 hours, but you could literally get a hotel room for the same price as really average food here....and it's not a clean place...There are so many other nearby late food options that are 10 times better and not trying to rob you. The McDonald's across the street is literally 24 hours and somehow much more clean than this diner that charges 50,000 times more for worse food. Yes, it's worse food than McDonald's.

Meh. It's a diner with standard diner fare and exactly what you would expect. Nothing extravagant, and rather lower-middle of the road.

It's 2024 and they do not carry any milk alternatives. Food is very poor quality and the service doesn't exist. It's a shame because this place has been around a long time. Honestly I could not find any reason I would return.

The food was so cheap for being so expensive. (oatmeal was 8$) And my yogurt tasted awful

The most recent visit was horrible. Upon finishing our food there was a baby cockroach that emerged from somewhere and was crawling on the table. The prices of the food significantly increased while quality decreased. The diner was overstaffed , everyone was just kind of standing around. Beware, they immediately asked if we wanted a glass of OJ or coffee , it was $6 for supermarket OJ, small cup - DO NOT order. A 4% charge was automatically added to our bill. We are not returning, around $70 for two people no thanks. I give one star review. It's too bad. There's no option for no stars. They would receive it.

The most overpriced diner in NYC. Diner's should not have omelettes for $22 or sides of sausage for 8.95. Come down the realty.

A cheese omelette for $16? Are they kidding?? An egg costs 20 cents and less for them wholesale. A bowl of oatmeal for $8? Ridiculously overpriced. I had a burger that squirted liquid all over my shirt when I took a bite. What do they inject into the meat? I had to run home and soak the shirt to get the stain out. They need a total overhaul if they are to stay in business. Never going back unless they lower their prices significantly.

Order from here often, food is always tasty delivered quickly and hot. That said it's pretty pricey, but I guess that's Bidenomics!

Stopped in for a quick bite. Got a Philly cheese steak wrap with fries. Daughter got a chicken avocado wrap with fries and hubs got a chicken noodle soup. Service was quick and our waitress was on point. Water was brought to the table. It looked like slightly rusted water. The cups which were clear hard plastic were unbelievably dingy causing the water to look that color. I couldn't bring myself to take a sip. I was so turned off. My cheese steak was blander than bland. Peppers, onions and cheddar could not save the meat. So what did I do? Doused it in ketchup. Slightly elevated the dish. Really disappointing. Fries were spot on delicious though. I never finish my fries. I did today as I left more than half the wrap. Daughter enjoyed her wrap/fries. No complaints. Noodles in the soup were mushy. Broth was okay. Chicken was dry. How chicken can be dry swimming in broth is beyond me. It wasn't the worst. It just wasn't on par with a $60 price tag. I will not be going here again.

Quick quick service in this diner just leaving the titanic exhibit and looking for a nice warm soup and this definitely hit the spot. Split pea soup was delicious it was not salty. It was just right . matzoh ball soup also Was pretty good. Follow this up with a chicken avocado wrap, which also was delicious. And failed to take a photograph. My bad. But it was so good to heck with the calories. I even eat the french fries!

The Hollywood Diner has been around for as long as I can remember. And there was a time, maybe 20 years ago, when it was one of those classic New York diners that served up great diner fare with good service. But like many things it has not aged or gotten better with time. It has simple skirted by purely because it's one of the few relics in the 'hood serving the basics, even if those basics aren't particularly tasty and even if the service is nearly nonexistent and rarely friendly or pleasant. Even a burger was blah, lacking flavor and disappointing. It's definitely not what one expects from a true classic diner. But what was lacking in taste was only over done by the unpleasant service by people who clearly wanted to be anywhere but at this diner, which I get. Cause I didn't even finish a quarter of the burger before I asked for the check and a box just to leave. Save your money. Buy a hot dog from the cart outside.

Our server was super nice and accommodating. We originally ordered the calamari, but it was super tough to chew. We talked to our waiter and he got us mozzarella sticks instead. As I said, super accommodating. The portion sizes were pretty good, maybe a little overpriced for a diner. Glad I went once. Super busy and great music.

Not a bad diner at all and a bit better than the overall rating others give it. On a cool rainy day I was hungry for some lunch and sat in the outside seating hut they built in the street. Service was terrific and my guy took good care of me. Decided to have breakfast for lunch so why not? Diners are good for that. Had their Slim Line Omelet with a baked potato and toast. Prepared well, and my coffee and water were constantly filled. Hit the spot. Can't ask for much more on a crappy rainy day.

At the corner of 6th Avenue and West 16th in Chelsea. Flawless and quick service. I had the corned beef hash on a Friday morning and the joint was buzzing with people. Typical NYC prices, but hey! Location, lication!location! They also have covered sidewalk tables right on 6th Avenue.

It's been a few years since I've stopped in here, and I was reluctant to go on a busy Saturday morning, but it was just the pit stop that I needed. Seated right away. It did take a few minutes for the waiters to decide who was going to handle us, but once we cleared that hurdle the food popped out promptly. I got the French toast which was an ample 3 pieces and filled me up nicely. When I get syruppy dishes at a diner, I usually like to wash it down with a nice tall glass of cold milk, because diners usually have those "cold king" containers that keep it super cold. This was on point and topped it off nicely. Overall, prices continue to rise, but for Manhattan.... this is a good spot. Everyone seemed to be enjoy their food and the atmosphere. I would definitely return.

The food is alright, but the waitstaff seemed really tired at noon on the Friday we were there, as they seated us and everyone else towards the back of the restaurant (near the kitchen); apparently to save walking back and forth. (;o)) It's not that big of a place, mind you. It also took quite a long time for the food to arrive; at least twenty minutes? Noisier than I would have liked, which was made worse by seating the customers close together, when there was plenty of seats. Not coming back if I can help it.

Interior: old and dirty; food: cold, stale. Do not support. Tried to explain my disappointment and suggested I should not be charged for such a horrible experience. Manager acted as if she did not understand the English language and demanded payment.

It's your typical NYC diner. They check for vaxx card at the door & comply with COVID regulations. Staff is attentive , food is ok. French toast was cold but coffee was good. Try to seat at one of the booths if not you will be in the middle of servers traffic and their changing station where they dump dishes and silverware. It's quiet loud during brunch time so if you want to enjoy a quiet brunch find another spot perhaps the French toast will be pleasantly warm.

Over priced. Waffle was fine. Boyfriend didn't like his burrito. My sandwich was fine. It's a fine late night diner choice, but I probably wouldn't go back.

Delicious food and fast service! The French toast was served in three thick slices of challah bread generously topped with fresh cinnamon and powdered sugar. The sunny-side up eggs had great flavor and were surprisingly seasoned. Pricing is very reasonable for such good quality food in the heart of manhattan. Dress is casual.

Really just so-so. There are plenty of better places to eat in the area, but sometimes you just want to go to a diner. My burger came out well done and it was at that point that I realized that the waitress never asked me how I liked it cooked. My companions ordered omelettes from the weekend brunch menu, and the same waitress never asked them about their choice of beverage. Mediocre food and not particularly effective service means the three I'm giving them is quite generous. My fellow diners told me that the omelettes were decent.

To start off, this restaurant did not check my vaccine status when I entered. Second I received the smallest, skimpiest Ruben sandwich, for which I was charged $15.95. Never again

I was warned that if a menu is huge, the food will suffer. It did. The bacon on my BLT was very overcooked and sparse. My partner had a dish with eggs, ham, bacon, sausage and Challah French toast. The eggs and, ham and sausage were OK but, again, the bacon was overcooked. I'm done with this diner.

This used to be a decent place a few years ago prior to covid. But it has definitely become a mess. They hadn't delivered for quite a while but I recently ordered from them after about two years being that I am only literally half a block away from them. I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken. along with it came a side of rice and a salad which had French dressing. I also asked them in a note to send a honey mustard dipping sauce for the chicken which they did not. To begin with the chicken was pretty awful, it was a bit overcooked and tasted old. the wing was not edible by any means whatsoever and had to be thrown in the garbage. The other pieces of chicken were quite stiff and hard. not juicy one bit. Secondly the rice. It was a good-sized portion but it was hard. all of the grains were stiff and it tasted like it may have been the bottom of the pot or way undercooked. Now five stars for the salad as everything in it was fresh and that was very edible. The bill came to a little over $27. The chicken itself was $20, a $5 tip plus tax. Oh I forgot to mention that the food came a little bit cool even though I am literally half a block away from them. I don't know what happened to this place but it's gone very much downhill and I don't think I'd be ordering from them anymore especially after going over the reviews here. Eat there at your own risk guys.

If you're looking for old school diner comfort food, this is your spot! Don't expect upscale dining if you come here, burgers, grilled cheese and fries is the vibe. I had the French onion soup which was pretty good. I also had a grilled cheese with bacon, pickles and coleslaw also served with this dish. Good. Good for quick lunches or if you don't want to spend $30 for an individual lunch.

The food was not good. Watery eggs, burnt bacon, and some bad potatoes. Not even the white toast was good. I will not return. Staff is nice and attentive but the food is not it. Bring cash, if not there's a 4% card fee. I didn't like this place, it's not what it used to be.

Food was nasty the pancakes was doughy they gave you 2 extra small eggs and bacon on top then put everything on a separate plate to look more appetizing just to charge you 20$. Won't be back here for sure

Piss poor service . Dogs are allowed to eat at the tables (yeah, I'm not into that and since they're not human it's okay . That's why they can lick their butts and not be ashamed ). hair on my plate . Oatmeal cold . No silverware until I asked . Owner walks around greeting people with no mask on (tidbit : Greece has one of the highest infection rates ). not worth the money .

Relaxing, comfort food, laid back, easy are the words that come to mind at this neighborhood diner. Friendly, efficient staff is patient with "out of towners " that can't decide what they want in New York minute. Food is simple, fresh and brought out quickly. Prices, well, inflation, COVID, national debt, war in Europe, whatever is going with the cost of eggs,....all priced in. 2 pancake dishes, 1 breakfast burrito, 2 coffees and 1 juice $64 before tax and tip.

Prior to Covid, this place used to be pretty decent. Now, it's absolutely terrible. Seltzer and sodas were flat AF. The diet "coke" tasted like syrup through a straw. Hell, even my diet lemon Snapple tasted funky! It took nearly 40 minutes for our food to come out. I ordered what was supposedly a 3 egg omelette (looked like it was 3 quail eggs instead), and rye toast w/home fries. All of it was warm, almost cold. Boyfriend got a chicken dish, that looked like it was precooked chicken slapped on a toasted pita with 2 slices of mozz cheese, and a handful of fries. Friend ordered a triple decker sandwich that he wasn't too pleased about also. The only good thing about the entire meal were the fries. To make matters worse, they tack on a 4% fee if paying by card!! Now you know when a business is suffering, they're gonna try to milk people for every little penny. The kitchen staff SUCKS. Our waiter told us they basically slack off back there when the owner is AND isn't around. No one, at all, gives a sh*t in this place except the waiters. Those poor guys have to suffer because of complete incompetence all around. Stay away. You've been warned.

I came here with a small group for lunch on Saturday and we were immediately seated in a cozy, comfortable booth. The interior was lovely with a warm, old-fashioned feel and there were old photographs of actors and actresses all around the restaurant. The menu is quite extensive but I finally narrowed it down to two choices: Lamb chops or salmon with pesto pasta. I decided to try to lamb chops which came with a choice of salad or soup, as well as vegetables, and french fries. The sides dishes were better than the lamb chops. There were only 2 lamb chops, even though the menu indicated there would be 3. They were served burnt and the meat itself was tough. It also didn't have much flavor. The salad was simple with one thick tomato slice, cucumbers, onion and shredded carrots. For my vegetable, I chose the peas and carrots, which were nicely cooked, but was a bit bland. I enjoyed the french fries though. Since the lamb chops were burnt, I asked if I could order something else and the waitress allowed it, so I selected my other option: Salmon with pesto pasta, which was so much better! The salmon piece was huge and there was tons of pasta, covered in creamy, delicious pesto sauce. The salmon was wonderful: Tender, well seasoned, perfectly grilled. This came with yummy whole wheat bread bun. The portion size was so generous and I ended up taking most of it home. It was just as good later on! Our waitress was pretty nice and quite accommodating, as we had several issues and had to send a few items back, which she handled with grace. Upon returning, she made sure we were happy with the new order. However, there was some staff who were a bit rude. Overall, I wasn't really impressed with the food so wouldn't come back.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. Very shitty management. Doesn't greet you at all. Doesn't seat you with menus. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a long time. Do not visit this place and expect the best, it's far from that. I will not be coming back ever again. I don't even want to look in the same direction as this establishment. DON'T GO

Pleasant staff. Food is great!!! I love catching a quick bite from here. It's always the Turkey Burger for me!!!
