Hollywood Grill

I’ve been a customer of Hollywood Grill for many years, and today’s lunch reminded me why I keep coming back. I stopped in and was pleasantly surprised by their $12 menu. Considering the cost of food in the area right now, this is an excellent value. I ordered the chicken kebab, and it was absolutely outstanding. The flavor was amazing, especially for the price point. The meal included a generous portion of chicken kebab, rice, a fresh salad, pita bread, all the trimmings, and even a cup of soup. Everything was well prepared and satisfying. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend this special. It’s well worth it and tastes great.

I came here on a Thursday morning around 11am, it was New Years Day. We waited about 10 minutes for a table and there were three of us (2 adults, 1 child). There was a very long line which felt intimidating but it moved fast and there were a lot of big parties. The service was okay, it was busy. However I did feel rushed to order and then it took a long time to get the check. Although again they were very busy. I got a traditional Breakfast plate, bacon, wheat toast, over easy eggs, and hashbrowns. They also have Tabasco as their hot sauce. My child got a chocolate milkshake, the Mickey Mouse Pancakes (comes with pine apple and cherries), and a side of bacon. He liked it and loved the shake. My partner got the Caprese Omlette without bacon, hashbrowns. He liked it a lot. The adults got hot coffee, which was nearly impossible to get a refill. The vibe is a traditional diner, good food, fun and busy environment. Definitely recommend for a tasty breakfast.

Chicken fried steak amazing, hash browns amazing, eggs were not good, didn’t eat pancakes because big portion.. Portion was great but when my girlfriend ordered she asked me to check prices and they charge people extra for ordering ahead of time. Ordering ahead of time online is beneficial to the restaurant and apparently doing that with Hollywood grill should cost the customer more money. Will definitely not order online again in the future but yes the food was delicious but price gauging people is unethical.

This place is exactly what it should be. A no frills diner that is great with kids or a late night meal after a few drinks. Everything we've ever had here has been great.

This place is a reliable stop for classic diner food any time of day. The menu has something for everyone, from hearty breakfast plates to burgers and late-night comfort food. Portions are big, service is quick, and the laid-back vibe makes it easy to settle in. It’s a solid choice when you just want a simple, satisfying meal.

This place had the old timer feel for sure. Our waitress says she been there 20+ years. The guy at the counter looked like he been coming there 40 years. & let's not forget the retired Chicago police department officer who stared me down. I looked at him like he was looking at me and said "how's it goin" x2 then he finally replied yup. I debuted yup is your awsner old man, you can take a photo if you like" he didnt but it was entertaining for me none the less. Food was great, service equally great & it is close to the spot!

I really enjoyed their breakfast burrito, and my friend's meals looked good as well. The aesthetics are cute and the restaurant didn't get too noisy while we were there. Our waitress was attentive and friendly even though we dropped two forks over the span of our 45 minute meal.

I had a grilled cheese ..cole slaw .. scrambled eggs ..coffee .. everything was fresh and tastee .. its open 24 hrs a day ... OQ

This is a nice place. The foods good, the service good. And the overall atmosphere is inviting. But prices are a little more than I would prefer though. And now with the crazy egg prices, they have a 50 cent charge per egg. That's kinda crazy. I get 50 cents per plate, but per egg??? Nah that's crazy

Great Customer Service! Affordable Prices with Good Quantity Sized Portions. The noodles were a little overcooked but the chicken noodle soup was still flavorful. The ambiance is old diner vibes.

In the modern world of aspiring chefs trying to push the limit on culinary innovation, sometimes a person just needs a good reliable American diner -- and that's what Hollywood grill is. It's become a family favorite for us for multiple reasons including family friendly service, delicious pancakes, never ending coffee, and that homey and reliable neighborhood spot. Plus it won't break the bank and it's open 24 hours a day. :)

This overpriced basic breakfast food I paid $54 for breakfast for me and my daughter for a skillet and a Denver omelette wow never again

Staff was very friendly. Love the ambience. I had soup and it was really good. Only giving a 4 because I can't say how the rest of the food is. Service was great and the staff all seemed friendly.

Hollywood Grill was open super late, so I ordered takeout here. There is a huge menu selection, the food was tasty (it's diner food), and I was surprised at how many people were in the diner when I went to pick it up around 11P. It was more expensive than some of the diners that I've been to, but it was great service & had lots of options

I really like the service, decor and ambiance. Classic diner feel. The meal was not good. It wasn't bad either. The chips in the tortilla soup were a bit on the stale side. The veggies tasted canned but the mash potatoes were good. The meatloaf was okay. The portions are large. They also have a credit card up charge which is a huge turnoff for me. I might come back to try breakfast items.

Great diner food with great service. I enjoyed an egg sandwich and sampled the waffle with bacon. Yummy!

This place in consistently awesome blasphemy to have a low rating. Grab soup and/or a deluxe breakfast and all is exactly the way a diner meal should be and at any time of day.

No frills but it's exactly what you expect it to be. Is the food outstanding? Definitely not. But it's good and it's cheap and they have a huge selection for literally anything you're in the mood for. The service is 10/10 and they have free refills. It's hard to find a good old school diner in Chicago but this is it!

I can't believe I have been blessed to live near this place. Staff is all so nice and welcoming:) i love the decor and the food is pretty good. You cant beat 24 hours!

I wish I had pictures but the food was great!!! I had French toast, eggs, & bacon with a side of Ham off the bone.

One word comes to mind: MEH. I wasn't impressed with the overpriced food, the poor service (even though we sat right at the bar), and the staff all on their cell phones rather than attending to patrons. The manager woman is usually found outside smoking (I presume cigarettes). It's got free parking, which is a plus, but you pay for it in your bill...believe me! Don't rush here.

The place is apparently well known by locals. The place was clean, the service was quick and the food came out quick. Not fast food but it had to be under 10 min for a party of 5.5 (1 kiddo) The food was decent. I wouldn't say outstanding but tasted good. We went for breakfast l, which is a lot more generic. They may excel more on other meal menus. Idk.

Simply outstanding. Probably the best old school diner experience in the city. They even pay attention - and deliver - when I ask for my hash browns to be a bit well done and crispier, lol. They even ask you BEFORE pouring the coffee if you want a refill. That alone is worth the price of admission. Eggs over easy, cooked to perfection. Sausage links very nicely browned in all the right places. Toast was nearly Texas Toast size, and great. Coffee? Shockingly good. Bravo. Places like this need our support, so stop by!

Best French toast I've had in a while. Came here after I went biking on the 606z The staff seem to be very close and always joking around and laughing. Seems like a nice place to work! Will come back one more time for their amazing French toast.

Always had a great meal and service until last visit. Server brought my soup right before my sandwich came- not a big deal, but should have been brought beforehand- had to remind her. Ordered a club sandwich- menu said INCLUDES soup and fries. When the bill arrived, there was a 70 cent upcharge. We asked the server, and she said that I ordered a "deluxe" sandwich there was an extra charge EVEN THOUGH THE menu specifically states INCLUDED. Now, it's not the 70 cents- it's the fact that the server and the manager, after looking at the menu ( there us actually a picture of my sandwich with the "includes"wording) continued to agree with each other and did not offer to take it off the bill, as a courtesy, for the miscommunication. That, on top of the service fee for credit cards, is enough that we will not be returning. This is really unfortunate- we've lived 3 blocks away for almost 20 years, but the attitude is unacceptable. Again, not the 70 cents- but the manner in which it was handled.

I'm so glad this place is back to 24 hours! Looking forward to late-night dinner and fistfights

Just not what it used to be. Food is same basic fare, nothing fancy, but fine. Staffing is low, but I'm patient. Great parking options. I ordered a Western Omelette and asked to add some jalapeños and some ranch dressing on side. I expect to pay for both. Charged nothing for the ranch but whacked $1.99 for a single sliced jalapeño. Seriously? The "manager" just sits up front and tells guests to "grab a seat in back" wherever you want. The food is fine. But they need to fix some things.

Truly, the best thing about this establishment is the free parking next-door. That helps justify their outrageous prices. The food is very average. The service is OK. The ambience is relatively cozy. It's a comfortable place and it's convenient but don't expect a great value. The menu is basic diner, food, and there's nothing special about it. I'm used to people walking around with full coffee pots offering to fill you up and I had an empty cup for most of my meal, as did most of the other diners around me. The waitress finally came around and said she had to make more. This is a little crazy isn't it?

Ordered takeout and the food was bland and contaminated with pieces of hair. Delivery was reasonable and I always wanted to try this diner since I always pass by.

I love Hollywood Grill! Cheap eats diner style that are delicious & really great service? I'm all about it. The menu is huge so I don't see how I could ever get thru it all. This last time I was in my meal was under $10 for soup, fries & a huge sandwich. I had a ham & cheese that was packed with meat. Loved it. Hollywood Grill which has a dedicated parking lot which is nice if you don't live in the 'hood! It's a diner you're guaranteed to get a seat at 24/7 and have a good meal at a great price.

This is a true no-frills diner experience. The food is good. It's served reasonably quickly. Great fast service, parking lot. Big selection, open early.

Charming diner with run-of-the mill breakfast items. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the city. The fact that they have parking is a big plus! Nothing overly exciting to rave about, the old Hollywood theme is cute. If you're looking for fancy pants city fusion brunch cuisine that costs $50 a person this is not the place for you, if you're looking for a quick easy and cheap breakfast that'll fill you up, go here!

I went to Hollywood Grill on Sunday, 1/15/2023 I walked in and ask to sit somewhere other than the counter by the front door where a draft comes in as people enter and exit. They let me wait 15 minutes as others came in and took seats then told me that I either had to eat at the counter or they could not serve me! In essence I would have to leave! I will never go back there again and I find it very interesting that I saw two African Americans sitting at their own booth alone! But I'm white! So white people do not matter anymore!!

Not the same food like before changed much more higher prices, and lower quality food

On my 48hr visit to Chicago stop at the this place with friends. The food options are plenty. Didn't get a chance to take photos of the food. We were a party of five, all the food ordered seemed great, no complaints. The service was okay, nothing that stood out as great. I ordered a loaded skillet, I believe it was called, Countryside. It was definitely loaded! This skillet can easily be shared with another person. Enjoy!

I have eaten at Hollywood Grill many times. It's a Chicago classic. Each time, I have been very satisfied. Breakfast options are plentiful. Omelettes are huge, bacon is crisp and pancakes are fluffy. I really enjoy their lunch options too. BLT or tuna sandwiches are always a good choice. Their salads are always fresh and crisp. The servers are friendly and seem to know their business. They are fast on their feet and remain friendly even if they are busy. Our order took a long time on our last visit. It seemed like a mix up in the kitchen. While it was a bit annoying, I could tell the server was on top of the situation and really cared. If you are looking for a basic diner with tasty food give a Hollywood Grill a try.

I am so glad I took the long walk from my hotel to this late night oasis. Everything everyone in my group order looked scrumptious. I ordered things I had never tried before. I had the sausage smothered in beef, peppers and onions. The well lit spot serves massive sized portions. You will leave here full with a giant doggie bag! The only problem I am having now is trying to figure out how to walk with full of a tummy! In the Chicago Wicker park area be sure to find the 24 hour spot of Hollywood Grill!

I truly enjoy coming here from Brookfield, however parking around here truly sucks. But if you can get a good spot, everything here is delicious from, the breakfast, to the waffles, to the sandwiches. It's all good.

When you are looking for typical 24 hour diner food this is the spot to go! They have their own private parking garage which makes it so much more enticing at all hours of the night and day. I pass this place all the time and one night on our way to dinner in Wicker park we got sick of the traffic on Ashland and decided to flip a B and head over to the always lit up Hollywood Grill. Its a typical diner with bar and booth style seating, a juke box, and a homey type feel. Its a pretty big place, we decided to sit in back. We were starving so sitting and ordering immediately was perfect. We ordered a Bacon cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and a side salad which was made to order and classic; as well as perfectly cooked vegetable soup, and the Hot turkey sandwhich (which I didn't expect or maybe just didn't know it to be tons of fresh but turkey over 2 slices of bread and covered in gravy) with a side of fresh real mashed potatoes with gravy and caned cranberry sauce sliver. The turkey and mashed potatos were good, and the gravy was super tasty. Definitely a hit the spot diner food that we needed to cure our Hangryness ha.

I'm a New York born & Jersey raised Chicago transplant. I've been going to 24 hour diners my whole life and thought that I wouldn't be able to find one out here, but Hollywood Grill totally scratched my itch! Bustling yet cozy atmosphere? Check. Huge menu with breakfast all day? Check. The classic table set up with the jams, ketchup, Tabasco and spiral bound menu? Check! There is something so comforting and familiar to me about going to a greasy no BS diner where you can get pancakes and chicken parmesan in the same meal and then a slice of cake from the front afterwards. We went for brunch and got two of the loaded skillets - Tex Mex and Veggie. Both deceptively large and delicious! While not quite as inexpensive as the diners back in the northeast, it was certainly more affordable than many brunch spots around. And hey, it's right in the city. Service was super friendly to boot! I love that I finally tried this place and eagerly look forward to returning when I'm homesick for diner food.

This is a five star late night decision for my fellow insomniacs. Sure, it's just a diner, but in all my days of late night eating after a night out on the town, Hollywood Grill was beyond satisfying. Ordering the Corned Beef Hash skillet has been one of the greatest decisions I've made in 2018 so far (it's gonna be a good year, y'all). You know a spot is good when it's so packed at the 4am hour with fellow late night revelers that it's hard to find a seat. Hollywood Grill is now my late night North Star (or solid brunch back up option) just like that friend that always accepts you no matter what you get yourself into this time. This is also a 5-Star people watching spot during the wee hours of the morning, come see why I'm right on this one.

Typical diner menu and ambiance. Service was ok. Very friendly, but not very organized or trained. The price is high for what it is, so the value wasn't there for me. It wasn't bad food. I just think you can get so much more for your money somewhere else.

Last night i went out and was hungry around midnight. Was close by the area and saw this diner. Decided to go in. Their menu are huge serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. From pancaked&Sausages to wraps and sandwich to burgers. The diner is very nice. Interior design is very warm and welcoming. I would definitely come back here to try their breakfast.

Honestly there is nothing special about this diner. Came here on Saturday and since there was a good amount of people here I thought the food was going to be good. Boy was I wrong. I ordered a burger with fries and it also came with soup. I picked the chicken noodle soup. When I got the soup it was just noddle didn't see a piece of chicken in sight so that was disappointing. The burger tasted like a frozen burger. The fries were bland. My boyfriend got an omelette with sausage and hash brown. He said the omelette was good but the hash browns were a bit cold and didn't taste good. I tried the hash browns myself and they were terrible. Definitely not the diner for me.

I'm a fan because everything I had was quite tasty. Pancakes are delish, waffles had that malt-y goodness, the skillet was flavorful and hearty, and bacon was crisp.Service was attentive, and to top it all off, they're open 24 hours! Does it get any better than that? Now, I just have to see what they're working with for dinner...

We saw this cute diner on Facebook and had to drive into the city and check it out. It's Great! I highly recommend the Strawberry Banana French Toast, OMG delicious! Angelina, our server, was so perky, happy and attentive, she made the trip worthwhile. We will definitely come back.

Christmas Eve in Chicago, a night out on the town, no snow in sight. It's 3 in tha-mornin', with 2 drunk ladies at my side, one American Idol-wannabe. We were in the mood for some grub, eggs sounded optimal, these 2 were insistent we stop at Hollywood Grill for some grub to soak up that ethyl. They were having their Employee Christmas Party but it was business as usual, the place had several patrons hanging out. The steaks they had laid out for the employees looked really good. I knew that cuz my friend Cathy walked by with her tongue dragging the floor. I nearly got one (should of) but instead opted for some omelet that had veggies and hash browns mixed in, my friends got the Country Skillet and Fried Mushrooms for starters. Our waitress was really nice, she had some interesting art (Geisha girl tats), forgot her name but she was very patient and helpful, as were the other waitresses who were all in the Christmas spirit. The Fried Mushrooms were solid, my omelet / egg dish came out and it didn't look appetizing at all. It tasted okay, but a lot of cheese embedded as it got more greasier while you dug into it. I should have went for the Steak and Eggs. Their Country Skillet looked good, I tried it and it was just okay, the gravy was luke warm and wasn't good at all. A bit on the gelatinous side, almost like it becomes a solid in a short period of time if not eaten right away. I was expecting more of a spicy / peppery kick to but it was more on the bland side. There are so many choices on their menu, prices seemed pretty reasonable, I'm sure there's bound to be something really good there - we just missed the mark on this visit. The service was really good and attentive, so I would go back and try other options if I'm ever in the area that late and looking for some grub or good company.

Ordered the Avocado Benedict with hash browns. Hash browns were pretty good but the Benedict was drenched in the worst hollandaise sauce ever. It tasted like just lemon juice. Made the whole thing totally inedible. When asked how everything was I mentioned that the hollandaise was far too lemony. The host said it was because they make it fresh. That makes literally no sense. Hollandaise doesn't keep, which is why almost everyone "makes it fresh" which is why lots of places stop serving it after a certain time. Anyway TL;DR, the food was shit, the service mediocre, and the host straight up tried to make up bullshit to cover for terrible food.

I love a solid classic diner. We were sick of yolk and their mediocre food and crowded restaurant and we thought, gee where is there a diner in wicker?! Well then we realized, Hollywood grill!! I've now had breakfast and lunch. Lunch is a great deal. Soup and fries with your sandwich! Breakfast was good too, big skillets! Service kinda depends on how busy they are but it's friendly at least even if it's kinda slow. Prices are more than fair for the area and there is free parking! Have never had to wait even for Saturday morning breakfast. I think we might just become regulars! Also they serve beer and wine!

Great place to stop in and get breakfast food. Rest of the menu is a bit more than they can handle. Huge bummer it's not 24 hours anymore. That was the best part.

Eager to see what the buzz was about Hollywood Grill, I ventured into Wicker Park. Busy and teeming with people, I found a seat at the counter instead of waiting for a table or a booth. It was a while before I got a server, and seeing how they were all in constant motion, I understood why it took so long. I ordered a skillet of eggs scrambled well with mushroom and spinach over hashbrowns. Hello! Add to that a stack of two fluffy pancakes that were light and airy. I was quite satisfied after it was all over. Since it stays open twenty four hours, I may find myself at a counter one late night after hanging out downtown and hungry before going home. During the day on the weekends, it appears to be a bit too busy. But I am sure I can get food there any time. It will just have to be later than earlier.

I absolutely love this place, we had breakfast here twice and dinner once. The ambiance is very friendly and seems like everyone was a regular. Janet was very nice and friendly something about her tone of voice makes you feel comfortable and right at home. She really is an example of great customer skills. The owner also talks to everyone that comes in as if he knows him from before which is really nice for business. I will definitely come back next time we're in town.
