This has been a long time coming!
I live down the street from this gym, obviously was a member of the previous one located here. I tolerated it because of how close it was until it closed down. Once it was announced that Hollywood Health Club was taking over, the countdown was on!
The wait was suspenseful, I decided to keep my other gym membership, which is also cheaper, just in case. They were showing pictures on Instagram and Facebook of them cleaning the very machines I used to work out on, like I'm talking thick layers of skin cells - ewww.
Finally this past weekend they opened up. I downloaded the app and opened up my account with the pre-registered membership. Upon coming in, I was greeting by bright fresh colors, a clean open space, and friendly (and some familiar) faces.
So let me highlight some of my fave things:
-The weight room (my fave room) is opened up more, it's spread out. There are more options for squat racks, the free weight area is large, and there's actual room between machines. Yes they still have old equipment, but it's clean and is ACTUALLY functional. They have mentioned that they ordered more equipment, excited to see what comes in (maybe a BC booty bench?)
-There's a functional training space with the turf AND some sweet new machines like the assault runner - still trying to figure out how not to die on this-, assault bikes, and awesome ski machines things. These are all machines you see in professional functional training gyms - like the kinds you pay lots of money for.
-They have reservable private rooms with Pelotons and the MIRROR. So you can do different types of instructor led classes privately (spin, barre, cardio boxing, stretching, dance, etc). They're also painted perfectly (see my picture. The owner told us everyone will get a Mirror membership so they can track their progress - that is worth so much in itself.
-the cardio machines are separated in a way that makes you feel safe and they all work! Plus they're finally clean.
-And finally, this is a local LB gym. It feels like it inside, it's very familiar, friendly, and community driven. This is a place that will make you want to come workout-perhaps come watch me face plant on the Assault Runner.
I can't wait to get my lift on again in LB!
