Service was prompt, music was solid, and the coffee was incredible. I got a standard iced latte with oat milk (they don't charge for alt milks, yay!) and it was perfectly balanced. Indoor felt spacious, with plenty of room between tables allowing for privacy and potentially getting work done. Prices were fair given 3rd-wave coffee and ambiance. Would definitely return!

Always have wonderful drinks and a wonderful time! I’ve never been disappointed and go almost once every other week! I hosted a journal club and the team was so accommodating. Everyone absolutely loved their drinks and food, cannot recommend Holsem enough for brunch, a coffee date or a place to do a bit of work! Will be back again next week!

Google
Im not usually a fan of flavored coffee but the orange late was just enough flavor without being overwhelming and added a nice twist to it. They also had a bunch of different cold brew options which I think I will give a go next time. The only downside that I was a bit bummed by was the lack of mugs and glasses. the staff was pretty friendly with great recommendations and was pretty quick for a long line. The atmosphere was pretty nice as well with a modern minimalist look that has a decent amount of natural lighting.

I walked in expecting some nice third wave coffee, but sadly was met with medium-dark roast stuff that was not that great. I walked into the shop, met a nice lady, and I ordered the espresso. I asked what roast they did, and the lady didn't even know. I ordered the espresso, and sat in what felt like an empty hall with minimal decor. They didn't call my name with the espresso, and gave it to me in a to-go cup(I didn't ask for it to-go). It didn't taste great either. Good equipment, but it was heavily over extracted, tasting like the temp was also too high.

Google
When inside at 7:05 when I'm assuming the place is not crowded. The server/cashier had the biggest smile and seemed genuinely happy to be there. I ordered the Rose Dusted Vanilla Latte- who would have thought eating flower would taste so good. I enjoyed every sip of that latte. I would have wished since I ordered my food to dine in they would have serve it in a mug rather than the paper cup. But, the late was still good. I also ordered the avocado toast with egg. It was your average avocado toast would not ordered it again. I would go back to the place and try something different. I enjoyed my time at coffee shop, I drank my coffee, ate my toast, read a book and felt warmth and cozy. I will be visiting this spot again.

Google
If you’re looking for a cozy spot to relax, get some work done, or just enjoy a good drink, this place is worth checking out. I stumbled upon it and was pleasantly surprised. It offers plenty of indoor seating along with a few outdoor tables. The space is clean, well-organized, and has a great atmosphere—definitely a solid choice for studying or being productive. The service is friendly and welcoming; everyone I interacted with was super nice. The menu features some creative drink options, like a banana cold brew, which I tried and really enjoyed—it was perfectly balanced, not too sweet or too strong. I’d definitely come back!

Google
I went in for a quick coffee the other day and the place had a really relaxed vibe. The cappuccino I got was pretty good, not too strong, and the pastry I grabbed was warm and flaky. Staff seemed friendly even though they were a bit busy at the time. I liked that there were plenty of spots to sit and the music wasn’t too loud. Overall it’s a nice little cafe to chill for a bit or get some work done. I’d probably come back again if I’m in the area.

Google
Holsem sure is WHOLESOME - from its simple modernized interior, creative coffee menu, and friendly team! Admittedly I do wish that the shop had more outlets to charge ones devices, seeing as it’s very much so “first come, first serve” but if you’re popping in for a to-go order or checking in with friends to unplug, this is your spot!

Yelp
I love love love the banana bread cold crew but feel the opposite about the 8.25 price for a large and the fact that they don't have a rewards program. The banana bread cold brew is super refreshing and tastes of fresh banana. The default is oat milk but you don't even miss the whole milk.
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
Was in need of caffeine and heard great things about Holsem. Parking was easy in the AM and it's easy to find. Employees were friendly and welcoming. I went with an iced strawberry oat latte. Prices are on par with all other coffee shops. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy your drink and food. My coffee was great, espresso was smooth, flavor was on point and I would stop in again!

Yelp
The new outdoor seating of Holsem really brightens the place and feels inviting. I love the natural wood table plus the olive green seats. When you walk into Holsem, it feels bright and modern. They have multiple seating choices and usually I don't have any problems asking someone from the bigger tables if I could sit with them. The menu is displayed on the right side of the wall as you walk in. It's more minimal than it used to be. Even my favorite, the strawberry malt latte, wasn't on there the day I went. But worry not, it will be coming back! They also have cold brew, specialty lattes, coffee, pastries, cookies, sandwiches, and tea! The worker greeted us upon walking in and was really nice. I ordered the Iced Orange Vanilla Latte (for here) with Whole Milk. Unlike at other coffee shops, the orange flavor in the latte didn't remind me of drinking orange extract. The flavor was subtle but went well with the latte. I would recommend this drink. I love the ice cubes they had, they were very clear and rectangular-- keeping the drink nice and cold. My friend ordered an espresso, for here. And a hot americano. The espresso didn't come with seltzer, but the ceramic cup it came in was beautiful. It had a nice grip and rim width. The espresso had a lush layer of crema on it. It smelled amazing, I could only imagine how it tasted. I'm usually not the one to order espresso, but seeing that-- made me want one for myself. After finishing the drinks we brought them inside and placed them in a black bin below the counter. Since I've been here before I knew where it was, but for my friend they didn't realize the bin was even there because it kind of blended into the backing of the counter. Overall, Holsem Coffee, is a wonderful place to come to in North Park. The parking spots are usually 1 hour limit in front. I love the specialty coffee choices and even the banana bread cold brew! They have great sandwiches if you're hungry and I'd even recommend snagging a cookie if they have them available. Swing by and try Holsem!

Yelp
After almost a 10-year hiatus, I decided to come back to Holsem and give it another try. This time it was redemption! I got the rose vanilla latte and I loved how rose-forward the drink was with the right amount of sweetness. I esp liked the pink rose dusting on top that made the drink more aromatic with each sip. Overall a super clean and simple cafe with friendly staff. It seemed like a good spot for wfh as music wasn't too loud, sufficient seating, and outlets for your laptop.
google avatar

Elizabeth J.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place after seeing so many good reviews but it really fell short my expectations. I ordered the vanilla rose latte which wasn't bad but had a strange bitter aftertaste - I think it may be from the rose dusting they put on top. The service also was not good. I know it was very busy but my friend ordered a toasted croissant that they forgot to give to her until she had reminded them twice. She also asked for her mocha to only be 25% sweet but they gave it to her full sweetness and told us it was the less sweet version. I won't be trying this again because it's also a big hassle to find parking in this area and not worth it in my opinion.

Yelp
Thank you Tiktok for a wonderful coffee shop suggestion. I was on the hunt for a banana bread flavored coffee in San Diego, and found Holsem in North Park. Parking was a little challenging, but we ended up finding some 2 hr parking a few blocks over. The coffee shop has seating out front, which is nice if you want to bring your pup. The banana bread cold brew was really good, and hit the spot!
google avatar

Yelp
Very cool and well designed minimalistic coffee shop. Simply delicious coffee options and great service.

Yelp
My friend and I popped in before going to the street market. We both got a Matcha Mint Latte--OMG it tasted like mint chip ice cream. So refreshing! The staff and ambiance was very inviting too. Will be back for sure!

Yelp
Inside the store is really clean & there is a good amount of seating. The service is kind & the drinks came out quick. We love how they offer complementary oat or almond milk options! We got the Banana Bread Cold Brew & The Woods Latte. Banana Bread Cold Brew - 10/10 (this tastes just like a banana bread w/ real banana bits. this is the one drink we love coming here for. this is a solid cold brew that is not bitter at all. you must try this one!) The Woods Latte - 7/10 (this does not taste like there was any maple syrup in here. it just tastes like a normal latte that was lacking sweetener. however, their espresso is really good. next time, we would just opt in for a different latte)

Yelp
This is a great spot to work or study. I ordered a latte and an everything bagel with cream cheese--both were solid. The staff is friendly, and the overall vibe is relaxed and laid-back.

Yelp
Great place. Been wanting to try it for awhile. We came early, wasn't too busy yet. I ordered a banana bread cold brew and it was yummy. Bf got a hazelnut cold brew. He loved it. We both wished we ordered larges. Just means we'll have to come back. Bagel and cream cheese was good. My bf loved his breakfast sandwich. It was a pretty good size. The he bread it was on was delish. We'll be back!

Yelp
Such an amazing place for studying!!! Parking can be a bit challenging especially on weekends, there's some street parking around the area but mostly for 2 hours max. The service here is so great! Front worker was so sweet. I ordered the banana bread latte which was delicious and they have such unique specialty drinks! For studying, it's amazing!! They have natural lighting with huge windows allowing the sun in. I hate studying at places with harsh fluorescent light but the lighting here makes it feel very cozy even though it has a more modern feel. There's plenty of seating with plenty of outlets. WiFi is free and fast too and they have some food options available if you get hungry!

Yelp
The latter was well crafted and my breakfast was delicious. The staff were friendly and polite. It was a lovely place to meet up with my family.

Yelp
5 stars purely for the matcha mint latte. If you like mint, you'll love this! They sell the powder of it for $14 (I think it's 5 servings) and I will be back to buy it, I'm obsessed. I hope to come back and try the rose dusted latte but not sure I'll be able to forfeit the matcha mint latte I went right when they opened and they seem like a good place to work or yap at , big windows allowing a lot of natural light. Staff was quick and attentive!
google avatar

Ilima-Lei M.

Yelp
I never order matcha but for some reason I decided to try something new. I ordered a hot matcha latte with oat milk, but it came out iced. The barista probably knew me better than I know myself because it turned out to be one of the best things I've ever tasted. Now I am on an iced matcha kick, but still have not found anywhere that compares to the one I got at Holsem!

Yelp
Dropped by for coffees and breakfast at a cafe we knew had ample seating and WiFi for our work from coffee shop morning. We enjoyed sitting for a few hours with our coffees while we got some work done. The ambiance is relatively quiet and spacious. Many people were at tables on their laptops as well. I've been loving the Mediterranean eggs which is a labne topped with spicy pepper flake oil, two eggs and toast. It's filling and rich with protein.
google avatar

Erika T.

Yelp
Parking can be tough to find during peak hours/ days. Inside of shop has decent amount of seating but can also get busy. I've been here a couple times before but forgot what my experience was each time so I went this past weekend to give it another try and I liked it! I ordered the Woods Latte which was a perfect amount of sweetness. The espresso wasn't overly bitter either- although the drink itself had a lot of ice. I'd come back again
google avatar

Yelp
The space itself was absolutely beautiful -- a really thoughtfully designed and welcoming environment. Unfortunately, the coffee was a major letdown. I ordered the banana cold brew, which was recommended to me by both the barista and my waxer. I had high hopes, but the drink just didn't work for me. The syrup had an overwhelmingly thick banana flavor that completely threw off the entire experience. It was so strong it actually started affecting my palate. As someone who truly loves and savors coffee, it was disappointing to toss the drink after just five sips -- but I genuinely couldn't finish it. The flavor was that off-putting. It was such a negative experience that, sadly, I don't think I'll be returning to give them a second chance -- even though the ambiance was lovely.

Yelp
This was another one of the coffee shops recommended by few of my coworkers who attended UCSD. Holsem Coffee (opened in 2015) is a third-wave coffee shop located in the heart of North Park. One of the co-founders, Salpi Sleiman, previously co-founded another coffee business ( Roast Coach Coffee Bar - https://www.yelp.com/biz/roast-coach-coffee-bar-san-diego-9 ) that operated with mobile coffee carts. [Parking]: There are few free parking spots directly in front of the coffee shop with plenty of street parking options available in North Park if you come in the morning. There's also a public parking structure (not free) located behind the coffee shop. [Atmosphere]: A vibrant and cozy spot - perfect for a casual date. Dog-friendly shop with four small outdoor tables available. [Menu]: I asked the cashier for popular drink recommendations and she suggested Orange Vanilla Bean Latte or Banana Bread Cold Brew. The third popular drink option according to the online menu is the Rose Dusted Vanilla Latte. *** Orange Vanilla Bean Latte (oranges, vanilla beans, cane sugar, double espresso, milk - $6.75 tax included): The hint of orange aroma was absolutely spot on. Sweetness was also on point and it was an excellent flavored latte. *** A solid 4.5-star latte and the ambiance pushed the experience to a 5-star rating. P.S. - Don't forget to use the Yelp check-in offer for a 10% discount.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite study spots in North Park due to its location & drinks. I usually will study here for a bit before walking over to yoga. My favorite drink is the matcha mint latte. It's a wonderful combo and does not get me wired. It can get crowded indoors on rainy days since they remove the tables for outdoor seating. Being in north park, parking can be rough but definitely worth the visit!
google avatar

Yelp
Very fast and friendly service. Good drinks as well! The food also sounded delicious, although my friend and I had just eaten beforehand. The inside is nice and clean, but a bit cold feeling to me. This is a great place for people to work though, as there were lots of people working on their laptops! We ended up sitting outside on their small patio which was nice, but a bit loud with the passing traffic nearby. Someone working on their laptop outside next to us had to keep covering his earbuds from the loud buses in order to hear his zoom call. Overall, would recommend coming here to get a yummy beverage and get work done (specifically if you sit inside). Would also recommend this place just for a quick coffee to-go!
google avatar

Julianna M.

Yelp
I ordered the matcha latte and was pleasantly surprised. The latte was good but I wished the matcha flavor was a little stronger. The coffee shop is big with seating and space to complete remote work or any studying. I was gifted their mint matcha bag per sale and was extremely disappointed. Their for sale powder mint matcha does not taste like their signature one's made for you, so I would not recommend buying them. Their service was great and overall a cute place for a little coffee stop or remote study/work place.
google avatar

Cindy N.

Yelp
We loved the coffee here! I ordered the banana bread cold brew, and I loved the bits of banana bread in it. Sooo sweet and delicious. My partner ordered the London Fog, which they drank within a couple minutes because they loved it so much. The cashier / barista was a bit cold and unfriendly, and parking isn't easy as this is North Park, but those are small things and I'd still love to come back! It looks like a good spot to study as it's quiet and relaxing.
google avatar

Charlotte B.

Yelp
When I first moved to San Diego, this spot became an instant favorite. Whenever friends visit, I generally take them here. I always need a coffee shop with food and I enjoy their baked goods so that is a huge plus. Their cinnamon mocha swirl and spinach artichoke danish is a common order for me. It can get busy inside with customers working from their computers there. There are not enough seats for people who are working there and people who are just coming for a quick coffee date or friend time. I enjoy the ambiance inside and the service is good. North Park parking is always harder.
google avatar

Mimi L.

Yelp
Pretty busy. The Organic Chai Tea was pretty good, as was the Smoked Turkey Avocado sanwich.
google avatar

Ginger P.

Yelp
The banana bread cold brew with oat milk is sooo good! It really tastes like banana bread, and it's not too sweet. My husband's hazelnut chocolate cold brew was good too, but I preferred my drink & would definitely get it again since it's such a unique offering. The service was friendly and there are a lot of seats available, though it gets busy. I thought the prices were rather high ($7.50 for the cold brews) but you can get alt milks (almond and oat) for no extra charge. Would not mind revisiting here in the future!
google avatar

vanessa c.

Yelp
The banana cold brew is enough to give this place 5 stars!! What a nice spot to come by and do some work as there is plenty of seating inside and out and I love their menu offerings as well! Love telling people about this spot :)
google avatar

Hanna O.

Yelp
Holsem Coffee is one of my favorite gems in North Park. Anytime I visit, the seating area is always filled with folks that are remote working, hanging with friends, or whatever else they may be there for. Staff are friendly, seating is ample (as long as you get there early enough to snag a table!!), and the ambience is chill! One thing for certain - the specialty lattes and flavor combinations here are DELECTABLE!! The first time I visited, I had the banana bread cold brew and it was SO GOOD. Nothing better than a well balanced cold brew with the perfect amount of flavoring. So refreshing and tasty! I've also tried the orange vanilla bean latte, which is my favorite latte in the menu. The aromatics and harmony of the orange and vanilla makes this SUCH a yummy choice for anyone looking to sip on a brew that goes beyond the standard "vanilla" latte. Today's visit, I decided to delve into the unknown and try the strawberry malt latte. It was enjoyable, but I will say, that I highly favor the orange vanilla latte and always end up comparing most things I try to it. I also purchased the banana bread instant oat milk latte, which I am SUPREMELY excited to try at home. This is a great spot to visit whether you've planning to get some work done, meet your friends, or get a darn great cup of coffee. Highly recommend to all folks that are in the area!
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place for a while and I loveeee it! I tried the banana bread cold brew which already comes with oat milk so no need to worry about a milk substitute for this drink, woo! What was wild is how it actually tasted like banana bread--definitely was taken aback by that. Although I think the drink would be much better hot than it was iced, even tho the iced was amazing. Large space with plenty of seating, mostly of people reading or working on their laptops. Seems like a good study spot but I did not pay attention to see if there were outlets or not. Baristas were nice & service was quick! Overall great place and def would be back!
google avatar

Elisa L.

Yelp
Came around 10:30 am on a Sunday and we ordered right away. Pretty spacious inside with a clean and modern interior and we were able to grab a table. Service was fast. I ordered the banana bread cold brew and it was nicely strong and not too sweet! You can taste the banana flavor and it doesn't taste artificial.
google avatar

Allison L.

Yelp
Came on a Sunday morning and there was no line to order. I got the matcha latte with oat milk (~$7); I like how there's no additional cost for alternative milk. The matcha is good quality but I would've liked it a little sweeter so I added some syrup
google avatar

Sam T.

Yelp
A cozy spot, perfect for studying. The Orange Vanilla latte was solid, but not as strong in the Orange Creamsicle flavor as I had hoped. I got it half-decaffed which was a really cool option. Overall, a standard cafe! A little crowded, but eventually a table will open up.
google avatar

Bill T.

Yelp
Holsem is a great cafe. Its big windows and deep, cave-like space makes it a refuge from the heat or wind. Excellent playlists, kind baristas, plenty of seats; it's everything a cafe should be The coffee is really good too. I like the things with rose or mint.
google avatar

Austin W.

Yelp
Holsem Coffee was the first coffee shop I visited on my recent trip to San Diego. I just had some coffee at home so I skipped buying a beverage and opted to get their pastrami croissant instead. My wife ordered a banana bread latte and also their Mediterranean Morning Eggs -- organic free-range poached eggs, labne, zaatar, fresh cut chives and chili crisp on sourdough country loaf. The banana bread latte is spectacular and has all the flavor notes you would expect. For the morning eggs dish, the labne base provides a nice tanginess that's cut nicely by the rich running yolk of the eggs and perfect for dipping with the toasted sourdough bread slices. Inside there's plenty of seating and from what I observed, it looks like Holsem is a great place to get some work done as well. Wifi is available if your phone doesn't have hotspot capabilities. Definitely would stop by again for their latte.
google avatar

Azadeh B.

Yelp
Every time I visit San Diego, I stop at Holsem (many times)! Great coffee and wonderful work space or hangout time with friends. They're constantly wonderful and I love that!
google avatar

Zaydian A.

Yelp
Banana Bread Cold Brew.... Words can't describe how amazing this drink is, but I will try my best. This drink had the perfect balance of flavor without being overly sweet. I believe they top the drink off with a pinch cinnamon, but you can really taste the banana in the drink. Easily one of my favorite coffee drinks in San Diego. Service and decor is also a solid 10/10, I do see a lot of people work here as well. Would I go again? I might be considered a regular now, but absolutely!
google avatar

Justine A.

Yelp
It's been a few years since I've had Holsem Coffee so I decided to stop by while back in town. 10/10 as always! Clean storefront with indoor and outdoor seating, large selection, and great drinks!

Julia F.

Yelp
Beware of manipulative pricing structure! all sizes have the same amount of espresso... totally understand a price difference for a 16 vs 20oz latte since more milk is a fair cost to upcharge for but to have a 16oz Americano (two shots of espresso) priced at $4.50 and a 20oz Americano (still two shots of espresso) priced at $5.25 is just taking advantage of the customers that order without asking questions. Literally charging 75 cents for 4oz of water which in my opinion is just shady on the owners/managers part. Service was phenomenal, and the barista laughed when I was asking about the shots in each size because it's objectively ridiculous to charge that much for 4oz of water. Coffee was made quickly and was pretty good!
google avatar

Sean H.

Yelp
This has become one of my favorite North Park cafes! I really enjoy the decor, especially the marble and gold. It's very fancy feeling, with views of murals across the street. Their cappuccinos are very consistent and if you're in the mood for something fruity or sweet try their orange peel or strawberry malt lattes. If you're more of an iced coffee drinker you are missing out on skills of these baristas! Great foam consistency and frothiness.
google avatar

Gideon T.

Yelp
Cozy place with 80Mbps WiFi and street parking. There are power outlets at every table so you don't have to worry about where you sit. The servers are friendly and the drink menu is decent. I ordered the Cinnamon Swirl Mocha and it was pretty good, and the drink came in this pretty fancy cup which was pretty cool.
google avatar

Anh H.

Yelp
I can't believe that I have not left a review for Holsem!! This is a long overdue 5-stars. I have frequented here for the past 2 years and it has never disappointed me. I always get the Matcha Mint Latte hot. Sometimes there's seasonal ones with roses or strawberry. It's a great spot if you can find good seats with charging ports. Otherwise it's pretty cramped or uncomfortable.

Yelp
Recently visited this wonderful coffee shop in North Park. There was a public parking garage close by that made finding parking easy. It was free the Sunday morning I went. Seating was little hard to come by, lot of people working while enjoying their coffee and breakfast. A table opened up outside not too long after arriving so we enjoyed the sunshine and nice breeze outside while we ate. I ordered the Nutella cold brew and sunny side breakfast sandwich. The cold brew was good but very rich. I like sweet drinks but this was even on the rich side for even me. I enjoyed it but not sure if would order it again. The breakfast sandwich was delicious! The English muffin was so soft, prob the best breakfast sandwich had in a long time! I will come back for sure for another breakfast sandwich but will try something different drink wise.

Yelp
Delicious coffee. Cool vibe. Best of all there is parking right in front! The space is super open with indoor and outdoor seating. My decaf oat milk latte was the stuff dreams are made of. Smooth, strong, and creamy. Yes!
google avatar

Kristin M.

Yelp
Cute & cozy vibe, friendly service, unique lattes. Was highly recommended by my stylist at Raven & Sage salon around the corner and he was not wrong! I ordered the orange vanilla bean latte w/2% milk. I have never heard of an orange flavored latte, so thought I'd give it a try. Had no idea what to expect & was leaning toward this could go horribly wrong. When I inquired the gentleman at the counter assured me it was a very well liked latte...and I can see why. Very well balanced, essential a vanilla bean latte with a subtle hint of orange. It was sooo good! I have already recommended it to other coffee loving friends and will definitely visit again. Side note, I just purchased a few of the San Diego Cafe passports for stocking stuffers for the coffee shop lovers in my life and Holsem is featured! So fun to get to write my notes about Holsem in the this cute little passport too and will definitely take its recommendation to order the Nutella cold brew in the future.

Yelp
North Park has some of my favorite coffee shops and Holsem has been added to that list! I love that they had unique latte flavors and fun food options as well. Their pastries looked really good too so I'll definitely try one next time.

Yelp
Holsem Coffee is a neighborhood coffee shop that seems to be popular with the locals, judging by the amount of people present when I went. The cashier was nice, service was fine. The interior is gorgeous, very modern. I ordered the salted caramel latte with oatmilk. I LOVE that the milk alternatives are complimentary! Definitely recommend.
google avatar

Erika D.

Yelp
Love their banana bread cold brew and cookie! Tables are limited (8 tables maybe) so come early if you're trying to study/work They sell instant banana bread coffee mix too but it doesn't rly compare to their cold brew
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
A pretty solid place if you want to grab a beverage and chat with friends or study. I don't feel like I would go back unless I was in the area.
