I really wanted to enjoy my stay here more than I ultimately did.
First, the good. The whole aesthetic of this hotel was beautiful. Gorgeous, historic building with an intoxicating leather/cologne scent in the stunning lobby, complete with a chic bar and restaurant. Aesthetically pleasing hallways and rooms with enormous bathrooms and a fantastic shower. The door staff were friendly and attentive, always ready to welcome you back or wish you well on your way. Food at Tenn, the restaurant was great both times I ate there, though there there's no shortage of places a few blocks down the road on Broadway, I appreciated the convenience. Shout out to Josh for a great experience. I appreciated the mini fridge and safe and the Victrola radio was a nice homage to Nashville's musical roots. Housekeeping does an excellent job.
The middling to bad- just about everything else. Staff hospitality was inconsistent (ranging from friendly to indifferent) and the amenities simply did not live up to the level this hotel is trying to play in. The rooms, reminiscent of an AC by Marriott, were very pretty, but not functional or particularly relaxing, even as a solo traveler. The bed was one of the most uncomfortable I've slept on in recent memory, the pillows were flat, and the barn-style sliding bathroom door would make privacy secondary if you have a companion. The lack of an any seating other than the mini desk chair and bed in the standard King room was noticeable. There were no ice machines or vending on any floors, nor notepads or pens in room. Also absent was any information about hotel amenity hours or room service that I could find, either. While many of these things are easily accessible online, it'd have been nice to have everything at hand. A personal irk- the exposed closet/drawers a la AC by Marriott is a trend I would love to see go away.
Two [very slow] elevators for the building were insufficient and very crowded and the street out front on 7th, which my room regrettably faced, was unbearably loud all four nights of my stay, with muscle cars roaring up and down at full throttle with their music at max and party buses slowly crawling along regularly with bachelorettes who were a White Claw away from getting their stomach pumped, making it impossible to sleep for more than an hour at a time, even with noise cancelling headphones in all night. I expected some noise given the location, but it it was truly miserable. I live in downtown Minneapolis and it was on another level- the worst night's sleep I've ever had in a hotel- bar none.
The rooftop bar and pool seemed nice but it was closed with no notice all several times I tried visiting and the lack of mid day food for a tired traveler/businessperson wanting a quieter experience was nonexistent between breakfast and dinner service. The convenience shop in the lobby was also lacking any staples, so stock up elsewhere if you want snacks.
Overall, this hotel was very pretty but lacked the functionality I needed during my stay and some amenities I expected from a hotel of this vibe. If you want a bougie hotel to party in while feeling classy, this is your place. If you want to sleep at all or are here for work, look literally anywhere else. This hotel costs far too much money for the poor beds, spotty service, and unbearable noise.
