The Best Restaurants In Lincoln Park - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Each dough ring from Holy Bagels is a worthy competitor in the ongoing battle for Chicago bagel supremacy. The crust has a satisfying bite while the center has an airy squish. And these bagels have range: they’re sturdy enough to support a bacon egg and cheese or some lox, yet soft enough for a little “rip and dip” action with strawberry or chipotle cream cheese. Just know that this place only has four counter seats, but if it’s nice outside you can enjoy your bagels on their small picnic tables with a side of fresh air." - sam faye, adrian kane, john ringor, veda kilaru

The Best Bagels In Chicago - Chicago - The Infatuation

"The bagels from this tiny Lincoln Park shop have a satisfying bite to the crust and an airy squish in the center. And while some bagels are stars because they’re tasty all on their own, these bagels are like the NBA all-time leader in assists, John Stockton—they're true team players. They’re sturdy enough to support a bacon egg and cheese or some lox, yet soft enough for a little “rip and dip” action when paired with strawberry or chipotle cream cheese." - veda kilaru, john ringor, nick allen

Google
I’m a huge bagel fan, so I couldn’t resist checking out this new spot in Lincoln Park – and let me tell you, it’s a gem! It’s a cozy little place, but it gets surprisingly busy, and I can see why. The wait is definitely worth it! 🤤 I ordered the 2 eggs and cheese breakfast sandwich with avocado on a plain bagel, and my friend tried the Lox sandwich on a jalapeño bagel with avocado. Both were incredible – packed with flavor and super filling! The staff was so friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Definitely coming back soon!

UPDATED: This was my first time visiting, and I was really excited to try it out. I ordered a ham and egg sandwich on a toasted sesame bagel. Unfortunately, when I got home, I realized they gave me the wrong bagel, which was really frustrating—especially since there wasn’t a phone number to call and let them know. However, the owners reached out afterward, refunded my order, and even offered my next one for free, which I really appreciated. As for the food itself—the bagel sandwich was absolutely delicious and reminded me of the ones you’d get in New York. The outside was perfectly crispy, the inside chewy, and the balance between the egg, ham, and bagel was just right.

Google
I purchased two bagels early this morning. They must have been from what was not sold yesterday. They were hard and dry. I asked for fresh, they took the dames one's back and placed them in the microwave and tried to give them yo me AGAIN . THE SAME BAGELS. Asked for a refund, the ladies were very pleasant, I wish I could have tasted the bagels. Maybe next time.

Google
I stopped into this shop and was delighted at the freshness of there product . Made in house and you can tell the difference right away that this is a real bagel. Quality is like nothing around the state street area . I encourage everyone to rry this place you will rerurn. I have been there everyday since opened. Cheers HHW

Google
Ordered a Bacon, 2 Eggs & Cheddar on an Egg Bagel. It was pretty bland, not much flavor.

Google
didn’t expect anything from this place. turned out to be a yummy bagel supplier. ham + 2 eggs + cheddar is my go to. not much place to dine in, so be ready to take your food for a walk. saw they’re serving group orders pretty fast which is rare these days

Google
Really delicious bagels! Friendly staff! To my understanding, this place has the same owners as the previous establishment here so they still sell cookies in smaller batches. I’m very excited to have a good bagel spot so close.

Google
$7.50 for a bagel and cream cheese is criminal, but one that has loose runny cream cheese and a stale bagel is repulsive. I hope this place closes soon and we can maybe get a real bagel spot

Yelp
I live right down the street and this place is a go to whenever I'm craving a bagel sandwich. It's so cute inside and the servers are always very friendly. Love the tiny picnic tables to sit outside at on a nice day. I usually just get a sausage, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel which is really good. I will say if you aren't a huge fan of melted cheese I would ask for it without it. It's a very cheesy sandwich.

Yelp
As a bagel lover I was excited for this place to open so close to my apartment in lakeview east, especially because they claim to be New York style and quality which I'm only lucky enough to have a few times a year when I go to NYC for work. The service was extremely slow (not set up like a NYC bagel shop whatsoever) and when we finally got our bagels they were pretty unmemorable. The bagels themselves were lacking in flavor and on the thinner side, and the cream cheese was also thin and watery. Overall, they're better than a bagel and cream cheese you'd get at Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts, but don't compare to the other most established bagel shops in the area.

Yelp
On my quest to check off another Chicago bagel spot, I decided to give Holy Bagel a try today. I ordered an iced latte with milk and an everything bagel with chive cream cheese. The bagel itself was pretty solid, I appreciated that they didn't skimp on the schmear (respect for that). Being from Jersey, my bagel standards are definitely higher, but honestly, this one held up well. It's not the biggest bagel you'll find, but it did the job especially if you're hungover or just need a solid morning pick-me-up. Better than average, especially for Chicago. The iced latte was also really good, bold, strong, and flavorful. All in all, I'd say Holy Bagel is a solid bagel shop and worth checking out if you're in the area.

Yelp
I finally returned and was genuinely very impressed by this bagel! I took my friends visiting here (one of them is gluten free) so it was a great spot for a quick breakfast! We ordered there and the wait time wasn't too long. I think what holy bagels does well is the cheese pull - the ingredients are all perfectly combined!

Yelp
3.75 - this is a grab n go joint and the service was friendly and relatively quick. The bagel itself was nothing spectacular but it was a decent bagel sandwich. Wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to go again but it wasn't bad.

Yelp
this little entryway has seen many attempted businesses, I'm interested to see if this sticks around - it really is a cute little takeout spot. I just worry about winter weather when people are less happy to grab and go. - the bagels themselves were average. they lack the thick chewyness that a REAL bagel has. no outer crunch either. solid 1 inch height. sigh. at least a solid array of flavor is plus a gluten-free and a rainbow option. - an odd detail is that this was the first time I've had something with sesame where it was really nutty. Maybe it was the amount of sesame they put on this, but there was a very strong nutty flavor in the bagel. not a good or bad thing just a fact! - the chipotle cream cheese was absolutely delicious. on a warm bagel it caused quite a yummy drippy mess. it had a real kick to it and a little bit of smoky flavor came through that calm mild normal cream cheese flavor. - the eggs were clearly scrambled in the back and folded over one another. I actually do believe it was 2 eggs - the lox bagel was loaded with lox so that's a huge win - I can't say that these bagels were great, above a grocery store level bagel but below something I'd want to spend $10 on. good toppings and cute place.

Yelp
As a Chicago bagel aficionado, I was really disappointed in the bagels here. They taste like theThomas's bagels you get in the grocery store. I ordered 6 bagels and couldn't understand why it was taking so long. I then realized that the bagels were each wrapped individually in paper. I guess they don't get many people ordering more than one bagel..

Yelp
Super excited about this newest edition to the neighborhood! The hype is high! The inside is very small, so the line was out the door when I went, but moved at a decent pace. I think I was in line/waiting for around 35 min. I got the bacon, egg, and cheese on sesame and it was really good! The bagel itself was awesome and there was a lot of gooey cheese and crispy bacon. I wish it came with a bit of cream cheese on it, but I'll just have to ask next time. All in all, a solid new bagel shop with fun flavors and offerings. Excited to try more!

Yelp
Taking the place of Brun Cookies, Holy Bagels Co. is new to the street. They also sell coffee and what look reminiscent of the Brun Cookies. We tried the Sesame Seeds Bagel and it wasn't bad for $3. Definitely check it out if you're in the mood for a bagel.

Yelp
Holy Bagel opened this week and I was super excited to try it! The space is very small with the line out the door. There is a few chairs but no space to eat inside. The line moved very slow it was about a 40 minute wait over all. They have many cream cheese options which I was intrigued by. I tried the sweet mini pepper cream cheese on a sesame bagel. The cream cheese was super flavorful and I definitely will have it again. Because its so new I do think they were rushing and they cut my bagel very weird but it wasnt the biggest of deals. I will say it is a little expensive for what it is but it was tasty!

Yelp
Such an exciting add to the neighborhood! Holy Bagels is a must visit due to their large menu and friendly staff. We ordered two egg sandwiches and they were delicious -- I recommend the jalapeño bagel! The bagels came out quickly and hit the spot. The omelette on the bagel was really fresh and not greasy which I liked. I will be frequenting this spot for sure!

Yelp
Bacon egg and cheese bagel was good! Two outdoor picnic tables for eating. Good for a quick bite.

Yelp
As I live near Holy Bagels, I've attempted this cozy spot multiple times. Unfortunately, the service has been bad every time, and the food is fine. It won't blow your mind, but if you're not in a rush, it's ok.

Yelp
I saw a lot of hype for this place when they first opened so I wanted to stop in. Overall I thought it was just okay. I just got an everything bagel with cream cheese. The bagel was really dough-y which isn't necessarily my cup of tea. I thought the cream cheese to bagel ratio was perfect though. I'm not sure I would come back but it's nice to know there's a bagel option around the area.

A R.

Yelp
Ugh thank god - a real bagel shop. Like a New York bagel shop, but tiny. Iced strawberry matcha latte was also so nice, and they offer non-dairy milks. Only complaint is that they don't have non-pork options for meat.

Yelp
Very good bagels. I can't wait to try the bagel breakfast sandwiches. The staff is so nice and welcoming.

Yelp
Hey! This used to be Brun Cookies, remember that! I had one of the menu items. They only have a couple of seats. The staff and service are holy.

Leigha C.

Yelp
We ordered pickup and it was ready within 10 minutes, everyone was super friendly, and the food was so delicious! We needed a good bagel spot close to home.

Yelp
I was very excited to have a bagel place nearby. My first visit was just so-so - bagel was ok, service was terrible - but I gave them the benefit of the doubt because they had just opened. Went back for a second time recently and it was even worse than the first time. I ordered two bagels warmed up and a side of cream cheese. Pretty basic order. After waiting 15 minutes and seeing multiple people come and go, I asked about my order. The person working the front asked me what I ordered, then looked through a series of bags piled up, finally found it, and shoved it across the counter to me. No apology for the wait, nothing. They seem to be very disorganized and pay more attention to online orders than people who go IRL. The bagels were ok. For the price and service, I would go elsewhere.

Prince R.

Yelp
The service here is bad for even for the low standards of a place run by teenagers. The bagel is fine...assuming you ever actually get it. Don't assume the wait times are accurate because it seems they pick and choose which orders to do with no rhyme or reason. Go to Chicago Bagel Authority, HERO Coffee, or literally McDonald's if you want something. Colectivo is right down the street and offers food that is arguably better. Avoid this place like the plague.

Yelp
Was giving this place a second chance after not a great first time and they messed up my order again. Forgot to add butter and hot honey, plus I ordered and sat there for almost 20 minutes waiting for my order and watched multiple people come and out. finally asked and they had it sitting behind the counter and never called my name, so i was left with a cold and not correct order.

Carson H.

Yelp
This place is horrible. Below average bagels, below average service. I have now ordered from here 3 times and they have yet to get my order correct. Every time there is something wrong whether it's forgetting the drink, putting the wrong cream cheese, or not toasting the bagel when asked to. I will not be giving them another chance and recommend you find a different place if you are in the mood for a bagel.

Oviya S.

Yelp
I went in this morning and ordered an egg and cheese sandwich on an everything bagel which was about $10. I then asked if it included any cream cheese and requested to add scallion cream cheese on it - making the total about $15. Let me know why I came home to an everything bagel with cream cheese but no egg and cheese. It feels absurd to have paid $15 for that! They have no way of contacting them, so it is what it is, but just be aware that you may need to clarify exactly what you want and check your order before leaving. Also, they messed up the guys order before me and gave him a refund in front of me. Should have been my sign to double check...

Julia K.

Yelp
This place is unbelievably chaotic. They're taking on more orders than they can handle and the quality of bagels is not good to justify the price. I placed an online order and had to wait an hour and a half for it to be ready. I got to the store when it said it was ready and it took an additional 30 minutes to prepare. Everyone at the store was frustrated and their orders were late. I will truly never order from here again. There are so many better bagel places nearby this is a complete miss.

Kailey B.

Yelp
Waited 30 mins to get my order. Standard bagel options but very limited specialty sandwiches. Good for a classic cream cheese bagel or BEC, but not much other variety. I got an everything with Chipotle cream cheese and bacon, added my own avocado at home because of how expensive every topping was to add. It was just fine- if you want a bagel and don't wanna go all the way to Gotham or somewhere else that's pretty good, Holy Bagels can be an option. Don't see myself going here again other than to get the actual bagel and then make the sandwich myself at home. They gave us free cookies for the wait which was nice. FYI they also stop taking orders at 2 even though they're open til 3.

M O.

Yelp
This place was definitely worth the hype, I live nearby and have been waiting to go and finally got a chance today and it is SO GOOD. So happy to have this in the neighborhood. Service was super friendly and apologetic/quick once they realized my friends order had been switched around and got it to her quickly. It's a bit a of wait in a smaller space but it's because they're giving you real food, not pre-prepared eggs in the shape of a circle or frozen like Dunkin etc. but you can't knock them for the size constraint that's just the size of the shop - just be patient. Their coffee was also really good, I asked the brand and she couldn't find the bag but it is good to know that it's a local brand. Highly recommend, come on a weekday if you can to avoid waits/lines. :)
