Come onnnnn, everything is perfection! Are there a zillion people here? You wouldn't know, because the spaciousness of this seating area is excellent. Kid friendly, but not annoyingly, if that makes sense. Comfortable, friendly, and delicious. Excellent menu of foods and brews, and super fun Sunday menu for both, too! The outdoor seating area is twice the size of the indoor area, and the Raw Bar for oysters and the like is incredible! Blown away by the options, pairings, suggestions, and space of the place.

Might be my new favorite brewery! Something for everyone. There is a large field for kids to play, including putt-putt, corn hole, arcade and basketball. The food was good. Just a heads up the pretzel tastes more like a donut, which I personally enjoyed lol. Wife not so much. Great beers of course!

Google
The place looks and feels welcoming. They did a great job with the decorations. The staff was very nice. The food was good and it came out quickly. I had the beef n cheddar with fries. It didn't seem like a lot of food, but it was filling. I didn't eat everything. The sweet tea was good. A little sweeter than I prefer, but the melting ice fixed that. Overall, I think it's 5/5. If it wasn't for company lunch here I would've never gone here because I thought it was just a brewery, and I don't drink.

Google
I can’t speak to the beers but love the hard soda, homemade NA root beer and lemon blueberry bomb. The food was freshly made (the pretzel dough was way too sweet and not a classic Bavarian style) but they have homemade sauces, delicious pickle chips and a size-able menu. The parking lot was packed when we came but plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with bar service outside as well. Really cool place to bring family, friends, or celebrate a special occasion.

Google
Fun place. A beer for everyone, regardless of the style you like. Very friendly servers and bartenders. Lively atmosphere, good food selection.

Google
Such a great, fun atmosphere! We stopped in over a weekend trip to the area. Food was great, beer was even better!

Great brewing ! If you want to have good brewing, this is the place. Try the fried tomatoes!

Google
Spacious place with friendly staff. Stopped by recently for happy hour and it was great! There was only one kind of cider but it was refreshing and tasty! I especially liked the pretzel with cheese dip that was warm and had just the right amount of crunch :)

Yelp
It has been really neat seeing Holy City morph throughout the years into what it is today. It's definitely not the same tiny brewery with a very intimate feel, but i think the overall net change is positive. The brewery is now enormous with an impressive beer list. It's a place you can go and find something for everyone, including mead, seltzers, cocktails, and non alcoholic beverages. Their food list is also quite expanded with some really great appetizers. The pretzel is great. Despite the large size and being basically constantly busy, I've never had a wait here. There's always parking to be found and you can walk right up to the bar for a beer. I really like the varied seating options. There's indoor seating, a covered patio, an uncovered patio, picnic tables, and a field that slopes down to the marsh which is excellent for kids. Don't sleep on their happy hour, which is Monday-Thursday and one of the best in town!

Yelp
My very favorite neighborhood spot. They have everything! Great food, friendly service, fun atmosphere, natural views, and a fun collection of rotating drinks. I personally enjoyed a ton of their frozen drinks over the summer and sampled several of them. I was a huge fan of their chicken fingers, which they just switched to "chicken dippers." Guess what? I'm a huge fan of those too. They have awesome seasoned fries - always crispy and you HAVE to have them with the fry sauce. Whenever I get chicken dippers, I go for the fry sauce. Savory, sweet, tangy sauce that always hits the spot. The main reason I go every single week is for trivia. Dick puts on a great trivia session every time, and the timing is perfect for an old soul like me (6pm-8ish pm). We always get a drink or two and dinner when we're at trivia. If I've had a big snack before coming, I at least grab a crispy pretzel with their tasty mustard. If only my husband had the foresight to know he will always want to split with me, I'd take advantage of their 2 pretzel deal where you get a discount. Love you HCB.

Yelp
Holy City Brewery is a cute brewery in downtown Charleston, the Holy City itself. I went on a summer Sunday. The inside of the brewery was well-lit and spacious. There were tons of available tables because most patrons were on the outdoor patio. The patio has several tables and a ramp that lead to the lawn, which has cornhole games set up and an ice cream truck on premises. I had the creamsicle mimosa (an orange juice mimosa with vanilla vodka) which I did not enjoy. That's what I get for trying something new I guess. The service was amazing and everyone around seemed to be enjoying their drinks and their food. The food looked amazing - I saw people with burgers and large meatballs all scarfing them down.

Sarah B.

Yelp
We still love the beer at Holy City although the intimate friendly brewery it started out as is long gone. I can't blame them for wanting to make real money but I also miss the old days. Still they managed to create a family friendly beautiful marsh-side spot (the old place was family friendly but hardly beautiful!)

Angel M.

Yelp
I love the location. The food is good for bar food, with healthier options than you usually have at a bar. The staff is friendly. It is huge with multiple places to go. I love going down by the marsh under the trees.

julie t.

Yelp
Happy hour oysters are so good and the service was awesome. Everyone is super nice, kid friendly, chill place to hang out and eat good food.

Lauren W.

Yelp
Just visited Holy City for the first time to check out southern screams haunted house. We had a blast!! The speciality beer was awesome, and the food was great. We got the soft pretzels one regular and one cinnamon sugar. I love a good soft pretzel! The wings are smoked and then fried. Probably some of the best wings I've had in a while. The honey old bay flavor was my favorite. The gentlemen working at the outdoor bar is in the right industry- super helpful, friendly, and just overall fantastic service. We will definitely be back!

Robyn S.

Yelp
THE BEST WINGS IN CHARLESTON. I can't even begin to tell you how amazing these wings were from the cook, to the quality to the sauce. Carolina gold sauce is a personal fav, but I'm sure the others are great, too. I find myself craving them at home and wishing we lived closer !

Craig S.

Yelp
Wow what a different experience that last time. Service was very slow. She was pleasant but painfully slow. The deal breaker was the wings. They were terrible! They are huge wings but they were cold and undercooked. The skin was cold rubber in consistency. The burgers were good but I would never get the wings. Beers were great but at this price point there are much better options. I won't be back.

Abi B.

Yelp
I grew up in Charleston and went to CofC, and have been a witness to the beginnings of Holy City Brewing and their moves up the local brewery ladder. They are one of the top breweries in CHS (if not the top) and even though I'm not a beer drinker, I have enjoyed my visits. They have a great selection of cocktails as well as wine and mead and cider, so if you don't like beer never fear! Their food is pretty great as well, my experience is limited mainly to apps (oysters and pretzels are yum!) but I hear good things about the burgers too. It can be a little hard to get a bartenders attention when they're busy and the seating situation is a little confusing but it eventually works itself out. The inside seating is spacious but gets loud quickly. Outside however they have a lot of tables and chairs and cocktail style tables and a large lawn with activities for adults or kids. They even have some seats and tables along the marsh edge, which ended up being the perfect place to take our toddler so he could run in the grass while my husband and I had a moment to breathe and enjoy a drink. Their happy hour deals recently really impressed us, so I know we will be back many more times to come!

Madison G.

Yelp
4.5/5 stars Service was wonderful here! This a place is a great no-fuss brewery with wonderful servers, good beer, and solid food. Our table was sat right away and after browsing the drink menu, I was thoroughly impressed with all of their options! Beer, cider, hard seltzers, mixed drinks, wine. You are sure to find something to drink here. I started off with the Spruill Spritzer - which had blueberry infused vodka, lemonade, pomegranate juice, and soda. It was so delicious! The next drink I tried was their house cider and it was very good as well. Everyone at the table has the same consensus - the beers here are great! For our food, we ordered a BUNCH of appetizers. I was shocked at how fast everything came out. The soft pretzels were delicious and airy - not thick and doughy like most places. Everyone LOVED the bologna burnt ends. The wings were great - I loved the hot garlic Parmesan flavor, and the buffalo flavor was actually very hot and flavorful. Pimento crab dip was delicious and is served with Wonton chips which was a great touch. I also appreciated that our server brought over orange slices from the bar when we asked if they had any fruit on their menu for our toddler. Unfortunately they did not, but it was very sweet of her to bring some orange slices over for our little one. Overall, you get where I'm going here - you can't go wrong with this place! I would definitely return here.

Katherine C.

Yelp
Love this place for an outing with friends or a date night. My first visit the food wasn't anything too impressive- I ordered tacos, can't quite remember what kind but they didn't stick out. My last visit it seems like we tried everything- The wings were so flavorful and crispy, the fried goat cheese balls were to die for. As a fan of goat cheese I would love to see these on top of a salad or with some veggies. The sliders were one of my favorites- the sauce was delicious I would've liked to have more sauce- maybe will ask for an extra side next time. The chopped cheese was nothing too special but it was good drinking food. You can tell we were hungry as it was just the two of us and it all sounded so good.

Yelp
First time visitor to Holy City Brewery. The haunted house by Southern Screams got us there but the poor service ensures we won't be back . After we did the haunt we sat at the outdoor bar to redeem our beer ticket and order food. It was two bartenders behind the bar , a male and female . Any questions we asked were met with short , snippy replies . When I attempted to engage with them and compliment the specialty beer crafted specifically for the haunted house they both ignored me . My partner and I were the only ones at the bar and they were both standing around doing nothing and we were literally right in front of them . After 15 seconds of no acknowledgment , I asked if they'd heard me . ONLY then did the male bartender acknowledge me by saying "thanks." Totally weird . We then ordered food and waited . And waited . And waited . And waited . Right as my partner was initiating canceling the food order and closing the tab , someone brought our food out . It took almost an HOUR before we received our order . The bartenders never gave us an update on where our food was nor apologize for the delay. As we were waiting for our food , another couple sat down at the bar . We were surprised that the bartenders were friendly and engaging with them and their food came out before ours . We have no clue why the bartenders treated us the way they did but they made us feel totally un-welcome. Because of this , I don't recommend this business and we won't patronize Holy City Brewery again .

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Waiter was great and attentive. Service was extremely fast and food was fresh. Everything was delicious. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Many years ago, I went to Holy City Brewery when it was on Dorchester Rd. I've been to this location a couple of times before tonight for other events. This was my first time in the taproom. Large, spacious area inside and out. You place your order at the bar and your food is promptly brought to your table. The food and drinks are reasonably priced. I ordered from the foods special menu and had the grilled mahi tacos. Two for $9, not a bad price. The Honey Bee cocktail was right up my alley. Made with gin, elderflower liqueur, chamomile tea, honey, lemon juice, and a splash of soda. This is definitely someplace I can see myself getting with friends again soon.

Teddy W.

Yelp
Favorite brewery of all time. To be fair I don't like IPAs or hoppy beers. I like pilsners (Holy City Pilsner is great). The service has always been good and the outdoor grounds of this place is unmatched. Check out the wings you must.

Frank P.

Yelp
Had a great time at Drag Bingo along with the themed cocktails. Their burgers and fries are great, wasn't disappointed. The servers and event staff were fun despite being slammed with orders.

Jillian N.

Yelp
This brewery is a cool spot! Lots of spacious seating and a selection choice for everyone. Service was friendly and pretty quick for a Friday night! Food and drinks were pretty tasty. Sandwiches were on the smaller portioned size (sides were additional charges), but still flavorful. Friends of ours got the chicken tenders and those looked like the showstopper. Would definitely return when we're back in the area.

Payal P.

Yelp
Went to the local brewery in Charleston while on vacation. Not the biggest fan of the beers (but I'm very picky so I won't rate the beers here). I got the pork slider while there. It was delicious. I loved the use of their sauce (there was a good amount of it on the bun). The bartender said she got mixed opinions on the pork bun because of the sauce but I really think it was the perfect amount on it. The bun and pork were both very savory. The pork was super juicy as well. There was ample seating inside and out of the bar. There is also a to go area for beer. It was kind of annoying that people who sat outside had to order food and beer at the bar. It was nice the food was delivered to the table (I loved the clever animal names for the picnic benches outside).

Evan N.

Yelp
This place is really really cool! The vibes are awesome and can be a place for anyone of all ages and groups to come hang out! The place is huge and has a great outdoors and indoors area! They had so many options to choose from for beers that it took me a while to choose because there seemed to be such great options. The beer itself ended up not being my favorite compared to a lot of breweries but the place is so great I 100% would come back because the beer was good enough. The pretzel with beer cheese and mustard were absolutely incredible and fully reccomend! Service was quick and Efficient! Defintely make your way here if you haven't yet!

Morgan-Emilee A.

Yelp
I wish I could say I loved this place or even liked it. Everything I ate wasn't good. Kind of sad I spent money on the food and I'm still hungry. I got the dirty rub wings they were so salty, I let my friends try them and they agreed it was way too salty and said it wasn't good. My salad was filled with just rotten lettuce. I hope I don't get sick :/ it was so soggy and rotten. I didn't get beer I can't say anything about the beer

Antoinette G.

Yelp
Attended the Post & Courier Now Open! tasting event in the Porter Room. Nicely decorated event space. Great food from local restaurants. The staff at Holy City is always very friendly and accommodating! There is ample parking. It is such a beautiful setting and relaxing environment. Great selection of beer, wine, & cocktails.

Chrissy F.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't done a review yet!! I love this brewery - its vast outdoor space, variety of seating, offerings of beer, wine, mead, kombucha, nonalcoholic drinks. It's great for groups, mini parties, families with kids of all ages running around playing. I like to bring my puzzle here because the picnic benches are a'plenty so can usually find one out in the back area where you don't need to wait on an attendant. My friend got us some coconut shrimp and juicy mozzarella sticks. I tried the s'mores stout and f..fruit the pain away a tribute to the singer Peaches (RIP). Love the atmosphere here and ability to find a seat amongst the vast crowds!! The marshland views are also a treat.

Michael H.

Yelp
I love breweries that have good beer, a fun vibe and welcome families. At the end of the day, Brewing is a family activity. Holy City has it all. What a great experience. Get some great beer, the Sparkly Princess is special, hang out on the patio and either play putt putt or shoot hoops. They bring in live music and great food trucks. This is the namesake brewery and WILL NOT disappoint.

Harry B.

Yelp
Since 2011, I have been a customer. I have driven from NC all the way down to the brewery just to pick up a couple of growlers of Pecan Dream. This beer is on the level of Westvleteren 12 which is like drinking Jesus' tears. Give this place a try, you will not be disappointed.

Courtney C.

Yelp
The place comes out of no where on the street if you're unfamiliar with the area. The building is beautiful and has a nice atmosphere. The hostess and bartender were very nice, but our server just about ruined the whole experience for us. It seemed like we were bothering her for eating there. No greeting, only gave us 1 menu and told us to scan the QR code, she was just cold the whole time. Any table she "greeted" gave the same reaction to her demeanor that we did. It was Labor Day lunch so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. The food was good so it made up for it, but the experience could've been great if we would've had any other server.

Felicia C.

Yelp
Ya'll know what this is. Another 4.5 star review. Had a ball at this place. Our sever Milk was a delight! The beer is excellent! You have a choice of the bar or what I call in and out seating. While we were inside under a roof; the patio was right their with wide open access. The food was amazing as well. Bae was in love love with the fries. It was a "no ketchup" needed affair. Which for Bae is the chef's kiss. He crushed the sandwich too! The spinach dip! Hella flavor. Better than your average. Worthy of getting if you wanna nosh. I wasn't really hungry. I ordered wings. I forgot the flavor. Lemon? Herb? Something. I liked the sauce. Bae didn't. This particular batch was over cooked for me but still edible. Just short of being too dried out. Wasn't too noisy or crowded this particular day. Great place for a group.

Michelle B.

Yelp
Not sure how to rate this place. When I think of brewery it's not someplace where I pictured a bunch of kids running around. You have to stand in line to order drinks. You have to scan code to order food. It's a nice place but not for me. Not into standing in line every time I want a drink.

Laura S.

Yelp
Super kid friendly. It's about 3 minutes from the new gigantic playground so it's an obvious post park lunch choice. The place is gigantic. Two floors and an outside area. They were slammed on a Friday lunch during school break but our table of 5 still only had to wait 15 mins. Great food and drinks. Amazing French fries. I enjoyed my beer and falafel burger, family enjoyed wings, sliders, and Italian hero sandwich. Kids had hot dogs and chicken fingers. Sports on most TVs and cartoons on others. Great atmosphere and service; would definitely go back.

Carey J.

Yelp
Good food, good drinks, decent service and nice atmosphere. Would definitely come back. The painkiller was amazing!

Ron W.

Yelp
Decided to check this place out while visiting Charleston. Huge place, good beers. Will definitely come back when we can stay longer.

Tim K.

Yelp
Hug complex! Fantastic beers! Fantastic food! We had the wings and they were awesome. Awesome, attentive service as well. Very clean. Guest departed, tables were bussed and cleaned. I had a Hazy Dice NEIPA and Washout Wheat and both were on point. Definitely would recommend and would return when in the area.

Alexa C.

Yelp
GOOD FOOD. I had the best and biggest Caesar salad and my partner had the wings and fried green tomatoes (a little too much breading but good). Huge selection of beer and lots of outdoor and indoor seating. Service was on point, it seemed like there were 50 people working but everyone was checking in and asking if we needed anything. The ambiance was solid, great playlists, games and things to look at.

Christian C.

Yelp
A park circle staple. Great outdoor seating, vibes, and the food was actually really good. I got the holy city burger, which was juicy and flavorful. Also shared the pretzels with a friend. Pretzels came out hot with two dipping sauces.

Kandace S.

Yelp
Holy city brewing is a great place for kids and families! The food specials were ok, the pork belly sliders were AMAZING. Fried pickles didn't taste like anything but the atmosphere and service was great. We will be back!

Sarah M.

Yelp
Always a good time at Holy City Brewing enough to make me want to come back every time. This place is spacious, both indoors and outdoors. Their seating system is very efficient and easy to follow, where you have the option to be with a server at a table or self-served outside in their backyard. Servers and bartenders are always in a good mood. Their selection of food and alcohol is wide and there's something for everyone! I ordered hard iced tea, hard citrus, Bacon Jam Burger, and Collision Fries. I love their 'hard soda' drinks, which include the hard iced tea and hard citrus. Although the hard iced tea is my go-to, I also tried the hard citrus for the first time and instantly fell in love with it. It tastes like Mountain Dew, but the alcoholic taste is still there. The Bacon Jam Burger is simple yet delicious. It doesn't have an overly greasy feel. Although it has jalapeno bacon jam, I personally did not taste any spiciness, which was fine with me. Collision Fries is a good shareable plate for 2-3 people. Generous toppings. If the burger didn't make you feel junky, then this will hit the spot. Be sure to check out their weekly events for some extra fun and entertainment!

Jacki B.

Yelp
We're always looking for good adult & baby-friendly spots when we travel, and Holy City Brewing was just that! The space is large and open, and there was plenty of room for our large group of adults and babies to sit together. We also liked that you could order up at the bar, so we could order food for the kids before the rest of us were ready to eat. They have a great selection of beers and wine, and I really enjoyed their sours! The food was good, too! We shared some apps and a few of us got sandwiches which were a great portion size.

Tasha F.

Yelp
Great values and options. Nice spot for happy hour. On Taco Tuesdays, they have $5 Margaritas ,which are delicious. Very large inside and outside space. Great for small or large groups. Even though I'm not a beer drinker, I love Holy City because they have a full bar, ciders, and wines. The food I've had has been good..wings, dips, and peanuts are all good.

Madison R.

Yelp
Super disappointed! The food used to be amazing and tonight it was awful. The bartender was incredibly rude and acted irritated to help us. I ordered the Japanese Chicken Bowl, which says it's chicken breast. I was literally given popcorn chicken on top of rice. NOTHING like the description I couldn't find a server and didn't want to deal with the rude bartender, so I will be calling tomorrow to see if they can refund my card. So nasty.

Paige D.

Yelp
LOVE Holy City Brewing- if not just for the ambiance alone. Food was good and came out pretty quickly. Everyone was kind and helpful. Perfect spot for a family and to bring kiddos to come and play. I really liked their sours beer menu and my daughter was a HUGE fan of the icecream truck!

Danielle J.

Yelp
I love Holy City and don't even drink beer. Great events. The outdoor area has ample seating and room to roam. Lots of TVs if you're watching sports. Talented live musicians. Decent wine choices. I do wish they'd knock the photo booth back to $1. Always a good time!

Sherri J.

Yelp
Started with some fried goat cheese fritters and collision fries which were both very good. The beer was great! Tons to select from. The burger was not good at all, it tasted like frozen burgers and it was very thin. The bartender was not very friendly, but the space and atmosphere was great.

Mark Alexander P.

Yelp
Great place, great beer and food and family friendly. Maybe the swamp coolers could be supplemented with some refrigerated AC as well? And the beer wasn't super cold but maybe that's by design? These 2 things wouldn't stop us coming back again though! Service was great as well!

Chip S.

Yelp
Loved it! Had the cheese fries appetizer, the Philly, the painkiller, and an odin's mead! All was so delicious! Service was great! I loved everything! I will be back! You should come too!

Melissa F.

Yelp
Love this spot + their beer! Seriously only knock is they don't allow dogs & I'm obsessed with my dog lol. Other than that, I cannot think of a negative. They have a range of beers, are very family or big group friendly and have a plethora of indoor and outdoor space. Staff is always so kind. One tip - if you're interested in food, the inside area has a full menu while outside is only abbreviated. Never mattered much to us but if you're interested in the full options; ensure you sit inside.

Calie H.

Yelp
BBQ Wings were smoked and fried. Wings were amazing and great variety on the drink menu.

Susan P.

Yelp
Very unnecessary and aggressive seating policy when the place was basically empty - wouldn't entertain us choosing to sit in a sunnier table - very controlling hostess

Rebecca A.

Yelp
My original review from 4+ years ago was for their original Dorchester Road location. They have since moved to Aragon Ave in Park Circle and have a huge piece of property and a gigantic bar. We love Holy City!!! From the Adult Easter Egg Hunt a couple years ago to Sunday brunch to trivia nights to a place big enough that can handle our 40 plus people work events. The team at Holy City rocks. We've been there over the past three months from 6 to close and it's perfect for what we need. They have two lines to order drinks and food from. One on each side of the bar. Even if the line is twenty people deep, you'll still get through in a timely fashion. If you're ordering food you give them your picnic tables animal name and they come find you!! Everyone can run their own tabs, eat drink and be merry in a perfect outdoor setting in North Chuck.

Erika W.

Yelp
Wow, this new location is amazing. I haven't been to HCB in years, since they were on Dorchester Rd, so it was really cool to see how much they've expanded and grown. They have lots of swag available for purchase, tons of seating, great food and, of course, beer. I tried the Holy City Burger and it was super tasty. I thought the burgers were a bit overpriced for the size (5 oz) but it was very filling so can't complain too much. The employees we spoke with were very nice and knowledgeable. Looking forward to coming back with my family at some point.
