This place was magnificent for the vibe but a bit pricey for the food. Really, isn't that the case anywhere these days though? I think the entrees were worth the price but the appetizer was small for what we paid. Service was great with our server having great knowledge of the menu and beers. We went to the restaurant and sat upstairs. Beautiful place! Pictures show some of the garden area as well.

Google
We had a large table reserved in the top floor yesterday and had a great experience! Leading up to the event, Lucy was very helpful and communicative. She helped me with a custom cake order from their in-house pastry chef which was absolutely beautiful and well worth it! I would highly recommending ordering one for a party or event. Our server was great, very attentive, and extremely accommodating. The entire staff was very kind to us. They are very good at handling large parties, separate checks, different orders at different times, etc.. everyone did a great job and we felt very well taken care of!

I’ve been to Gralehaus before for breakfast and it was fantastic, so I was eager to try this place. The ambiance was fantastic, as it’s in an old chapel with high ceilings and stained glass windows. The outside seating area is nice too. I went for the reuben sandwich and was very pleased. It had all the traditional ingredients and was quite good. I sat at the bar and the service was fast and friendly. I’ll be back for sure.

Google
Can’t give it higher praises! Service was friendly and attentive from the start and throughout. Original idea was to get drinks and snacks but the food was PHENOMENAL. Best I’ve had here and in awhile! Their burger was ahhhmazing, the fries were god sent, but if you want a Beyond experience add the curry ketchup and/or the spicy mustard if you can handle the heat! Amazing. Top marks all around, highly recommended!

Google
Very unique in a very good way! Popular place; friendly staff; nicely repurposed chapel with interesting decor. Beer is primarily sourced from Belgium and Germany; however, beer from US and other countries, too. Schnitzel was a winner!

I've always wanted to go to a Beer Church! Great atmosphere. We sat upstairs, which did not slow down service. Our server was quick and very knowledgeable about the extensive beer selection and the building. I didn't get a full menu picture, just one of a great Italian pilsner. I'm not usually a pilsner fan, but i followed a server recommendation and found a new favorite. I had the pork schnitzel. It is huge, and paired well with fruit, veggies and sauce. My wife had salmon with little tasty potatoes and the best asparagus I've ever had. The patio area looked cool, but we didn't get the full experience. Thanks for a great dinner, Holy Grale!

Google
We love coming here for dinner and drinks! My husband loves the large beer selection. The back patio is gorgeous, it’s great to hop over to the wine shop next door and grab something to take home.

Google
This place was awesome! We came on a slow Monday night for dinner. They don't allow children in the main area, but you can go outside (too hot) or upstairs, which was perfect. We were the only ones up there for most of the meal. The venue is a gorgeous converted church and they lean into the vibe with an excellent selection of beers, mostly Belgian and German. The food menu isn't too extensive, but there was something for everyone and all the options we tried were delicious. I forget our server's name, but he was incredibly chill and knowledgeable. Highly recommended and would love to return if I find myself back in Louisville.

Yelp
Very cool restaurant... love the old church vibes! The menu is small but had great vegetarian options, the Frites are a must! We had to try all of the dipping sauces personally loved the malt vinegar dipping sauce. Our server was super friendly and very knowledgeable with all of the different beer options and pairings.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in town. The patio on a nice night is special - informal but surrounding but a nice garden and insulated from the noise of Bardstown. Indoors is funky as they lean into the old church vibe. Upstairs is a bit noisy but still a very pleasant, if cozy, spot for a meal. Indoors is terms of food, most options are a bit heavy with so me European traditions - spatzle, schnitzel, mussels with frites, etc. I think their smash burger and fries are great, including the ZZ fries that had a really cool, zesty spin on loaded fries. Their beer list is extensive and includes lots of Belgian and European brews that are hard to come by. The staff has good recs as the drink list can be overwhelming. Overall, one of my favorite spots in town for a low key but good meal.

Yelp
I wanted to like Holy Grale more but unfortunately it's a 3 star for me, with the caveat being I wish I had ordered different things. I wasn't super hungry, so my husband and I split the pretzel with beer cheese, with the optional mustard upcharge, and the beef bourguignon. We had a group of four, including two friends, so we were seated upstairs, and we were the only party there... Downstairs is the bar and mostly two-top seating, although I did see a group of 3 there too. We started with the pretzel, which was good but I wanted it to be better, it's made with challah bread. I did really like the beer cheese even though it had a little kick (habanero) at the end. I feel like we made a bad choice splitting the beef bourguignon because I didn't think it was that big of a portion... It was served in a large bowl but didn't have a lot of beef. My second choice was the schnitzel and now I kind of wish we ordered that instead. Our friends ordered four dishes off the snack menu, including poutine, sauerkraut balls, the trout dip, and the beets and burrata, and enjoyed all of it. The best part of the meal for me was my cocktail, the Holy Ghost, which is their seasonal cocktail, and this one was apple cider-centric. Overall I wanted to be wowed here but unfortunately wasn't. Would definitely be willing to come back another time to try more of the menu, though, as it's a cute place. We had breakfast at Gralehouse yesterday too, and kind of the same deal - my meal was good but not super special (burrata toast).

Yelp
Holy Grale never disappoints. From amazing food, a diverse beer selection, and top notch service you really can't go wrong stopping in for a visit. Don't be intimidated by the small appearance of the building. Once inside there are quite a few tables and ample bar seating, in addition to a spacious outdoor patio.

Yelp
We are in Louisville for the week and actually staying at The Grale House B&B. The Holy Grale is a part of the establishment. We arrived late Sunday afternoon, weary from our travels. We went to the Holy Grale before checking into our room to get some much needed sustenance after a five hour drive. Their beer selections are unique. I had a couple of delicious beers and also had the tavern steak with fries. The fries were good, but the steak was a little too chewy for me. Hubby had the burger and said it was super good. We went back two days later for a pretzel with beer cheese dip. The pretzel was good, but the dip was a tad too spicy for me. Bartender said they use habanero peppers in it. My hubby ate it and said he liked it. We will be here for a few more days so we will definitely go back for a beer. The inside area is small, but there is a big beer garden area where most people sit and drink. Staff is very friendly.

Yelp
I had one burger. It was very unbalanced flavor. The pretzel bun covered up the taste of everything. For the price it should not be that way.
google avatar

Alice R.

Yelp
Incredible selection of Belgium ales. Sadly they were out of the Farmhouse Ale. The BBQ carrots and the Matilda Sandwich (homemade trout pate) were delicious and my husband enjoyed the Schnitzel platter. A very unique little place and I would totally return to try their other menu items. Complements to the attentive staff and chef!

Yelp
My friend and I stopped in here after a tattoo appointment up the street, and it was exactly what we were searching for. We only had a couple hours to spare before driving back home to Michigan, so afternoon cocktails and snacks were the perfect way to end our trip to Louisville! We ordered some drinks and shared the "Cone of Fritjes" with 5 of the dipping sauces. It was so tasty and fun to watch each other's reactions to (then discuss) the interesting "flight" of mustards and dips! They were all delicious, and we seemed to keep changing our minds on which was our favorite! (Pro Tip: Mix two together for all new flavor combos!) We also decided to share the spinach salad, which was a fresh light escape in between bites of the warm and salty fritjes! Our bartender was fast and efficient, and knew how to make and serve everything on the menu. It was probably a 3-4 minute wait on the food, which is outstanding, considering it was pretty busy that day. The atmosphere here is so cool and inviting. Very spiritual with good vibes and all the decor & style you'd expect from a place named "Holy Grale." It was a bit chilly when my friend and I were there this past December, so the outdoor area wasn't being utilized. But I will make sure to snag a patio seat next time I'm in the area! It's beautiful! I highly recommend popping in here if you're close by! Grab a drink, try some fritjes!

Yelp
Second go around and this time I brought a small group with two being from Japan. In town for the scrap show and needed somewhere to get an adult beverage and some food so I chose here. The beer selection is awesome and the bartenders knowledge is equally awesome. The menu had four pages of beer and one of food. We had reservations for the upstairs but opted to eat outside as the weather was spectacular though I do wish I would have gone up and taken a look. The beautiful stained glass is breath taking. The building is a work of art by itself. The food was very good but portions are down and prices up due to the economy. The schnitzel was very tasty but needed spatzle or kraut to make it perfect. We also had the fries and dipping sauce. To our surprise the curry ketchup was delicious. Great meal in a neat old building and a great selection of beer so all is good.

Yelp
The food was really good - I'm not a huge fan of burgers but OMG the holy grail burger was amazing.

Yelp
What an amazing and unique venue with absolutely amazing and delectable food! I had previously been to Gralehaus, but Holy Grale is a step up into a more formal and breathtaking venue - the building is a formal church and full of charm and nods to its historic past. The food is phenomenal - the schnitzel may be better than what I've had in Germany or Austria! The spaetzle wasn't quite as life-changing, but I blame that on my own dislike of breadcrumbs (and I ordered knowing this, so this is absolutely not a reflection of the chef). Extensive collection of cider and beer, and the staff is friendly and more than willing to point you to a great choice. My cider was fantastic! Great place for date night, or just to meet other cool people in the know.

Yelp
Seating inside and outside, which is great in nice weather. Large selection of beer. Decent cocktails - for the "Son" which was a fun drink. Mostly went there for dessert and it did not disappoint. The dark chocolate torte specially was delectable!

Yelp
Top notch. Food is outstanding. Great atmosphere. Tables are very small for those of us that like to eat a lot and with a variety. Service is top tier. Pork schnitzel and the saurakraut balls were our favorite.

Yelp
am giving you my 9.5 year review...you read that right, I've been going here for roughly 9 years. Overall it's kinda gone down hill. Pre-covid it has THE BEST food and atmosphere. The inside was somewhat dark but had a lot of character and avoided the cookie cutter "upscale beer and food" look. They had a chef that made ridiculously good vegetarian AND burgers. This chef ended up moving to Chicago per the waitstaff. I asked because a few months after their departure you could see it and taste it in the menu so I knew something changed. Their peak was 2014-2019 for overall creativity and menu execution; meaning not only did the menu read amazingly but the execution on the menu was perfect. Flavor and texture didn't hint to being overcooked or over seasoned. Covid came and went and now the inside is light mauve with an over indexed "holy" look. The music is ....not sure, random aged pop? Food is disappointing. It's not bad by any means but it's not as good as it could be. Pasta dishes are overcooked, drenched in oil often, and too salty. Flavor comes from the food not kosher salt solely. We don't go here often especially after our last visit a few months ago but I hope their cooks and chefs continue to improve with experience. If you're a newcomer you might not notice and that's fine because blindfolded, it's not that bad. But if you knew you know, it's not anywhere close to where it used to be.

Yelp
Went for Kolsch night with friends, stayed for the beer garden vibes. One of the best outdoor dining in town! It's always busy especially on Kolsch nights but it's worth it. Luckily a couple friends arrived early and snagged a table. Along with the Kolsch, I had steak frites for dinner and my goodness it was tasty. Cooked perfectly and served with a decedent butter sauce. The fries paired with the frites sauce took it over the top. The curry ketchup is also worth a try. I will say the steak frites is fairly pricey and in the future I'm more likely to order the juicy, mouth watering burger. My sweet tooth got the best of me and I ordered one of each dessert for the table. The chocolate torte was out of this world - everyone was fighting to grab a bite. The crème brûlée was solid and was devoured as well. If you're not into Kolsch, their beer selection is extensive! You're sure to find something to quench your thirst. I'm also a fan of their NA selection and have tried their Italian sodas on occasion.

Yelp
Holy Grale is such a vibe. They are most well know for their Belgian beer lists (with a curated local craft beer list snuggled up behind it). That says a lot about the beer when the staff is superb, the locally sourced menu is consistently well executed, and the bar seating feels like home, but better, because you aren't expected to pick up after yourself. Also this last round I had the best steak tartare that I've ever had. I shared with others, and my server hooked me up with more crunchy bread wafers so I could savor it longer. I stopped myself from licking the plate once I had scraped all the bits off. The room (choir loft) upstairs is especially cozy. I would definitely take a date or out of town guest that I really like here.

Ray S.

Yelp
Perfection. Review is years overdue. Service is outstanding. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Food is consistently outstanding. Beer selection is second to none in the city. Simply can't heap too much praise on this establishment.
google avatar

Kathryn M.

Yelp
Best salad i've ever had in my life, accompanied by THE MOST UNIQUE and exquisite ambiance of a restaurant I've seen in a long time. Very unique, very flavorful, don't miss the experience of this place.
google avatar

Juan P.

Yelp
The beer selection is top notch! The ambiance is awesome with the church details contrasting delicious beer. And the food is just as high end as the beer selection. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for and I'd happily pay again. It's difficult to find good dark beer and Holy Grale delivered, yet there was something for all tastes. Highly recommend. The service staff is friendly and very knowledgeable.

Yelp
Holy is right. An extensive list of craft beer, especially some great imports. We had the sauerkraut balls, frites and a burger. My phone did not eat first, hence why I only have a picture of my drink posted to this review, because we were starving. Incredible ambiance, the decor is intricate and creative with its theme and I appreciate the coziness and intimacy of bar seating and tables.

Yelp
I am a Louisiana girl with a traveler's heart. I saw this restaurant and had to stop in for a bite. The location was excellent, near downtown Louisville, KY. Everything I ordered was prepared perfectly. While each thing my husband ordered was not. We didn't make a reservation to dine tonight. There was not a wait to be seated. This 1905 former church was converted into a petite restaurant. We ate inside this gastropub because it was raining. I was very excited because of all the great photos. If you plan on dining here flip to the very back page of the beer menu. Our server was proud to be employed here. He is a kind person. Wow the bar was beautiful. I did not request a cocktail to test the mixologist skills. No this is a beer night. What an exclusive appetizer it tasted lovely. The Cheese tray was brillante a must order dish. The duck confit poutine was horrible. I believe the duck was bad. Shame because I really enjoy duck. The fish looks good in the photo but a bit over cooked. The pork Schnitzel is one of my favorite dishes here. The chef was hustling in his kitchen. I encourage you to look at my photos.
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
This place has good food and service. I like the environment and the beer. There is a lot to pick from.
google avatar

Greg D.

Yelp
Fairly overpriced for what you get. $19 for a burger without sides. the burger was good, but not $19 good. I would assume that you're paying for the ambiance, but other than an impressive stained glass window, the only other decor is a hodgepodge of crucifixes and religious iconography placed haphazardly on the walls around a VERY cramped bar area. Compared to the surrounding highlands bars I suppose this place is impressive, but it didn't impress me enough to make me feel like i wasn't getting fleeced. I really wish this overpriced "gastropub" trend would die already.

Rebekah M.

Yelp
Great service. Food and drinks were creative and well presented! This location was convenient to stop on our visit to the highland neighborhood
google avatar

Claude S.

Yelp
The menu is very high end- pretty yummy too. Expansive and worldly beer selection and crafty complex bites to eat. However, the ambiance is completely incongruous with with this. With drunk frat boys ambling around (even in the pics here on Yelp lol- it's clearly a fave spot for that crowd), it's chaotic and has the vibe of a sports bar. Additionally, I would recommend staff reconsider their practice of calling out folks by the name on their debit/credit card without asking. I was really loudly and publicly called my deadname for no reason when being brought the drinks I ordered. All you had to do was ask my name.
google avatar

Nate J.

Yelp
FYI, didn't try the food. But the beer menu and choices were amazing. Beers from Belgium, Denmark, Germany and holland is unheard of and not your commercial European beers. I think they stand out in service as well, the bartenders were patient and explained the whole menu. Very impressed.keep it up

Kristin F.

Yelp
sat upstairs - food was great - schnitzel and burgers fantastic but please note there are no sides with any of the food - you have to order those separately - they really could expand on their wine offerings- bar was fantastic/beautiful
google avatar

Usu I.

Yelp
When was the last time you ate something and said to yourself... this is a really well thought out dish with layers of flavor and complexities that are so subtle yet delicious?! That's what happened when I ordered the Grale burger. I was hesitant about the pretzel bread because they're usually so heavy but not this one, it eats like bread and is soft in texture. And it's not your average potato fries, these were so tasty and not your typical potato behind the curtain, it was awesome. Choose whatever sauce u want, I had to go for what was the equivalent to spicy Mayo, delicious . Beyond the food there was a fun and relaxed ambiance in a converted church , so I very much enjoyed the feel of the place and to top it all off... the service was just right, thank you I ordered as a skeptic and left as a believer , it's just amazing to experience something you didn't expect to like all that much and it impress you on all levels .

Ryan A.

Yelp
Very, very expansive beer menu -- much smaller for food and other beverages. I'm not a big beer guy and wasn't able to drink during our visit, which left me with very few options--not surprising, but I was hoping for a little more. The idea of the place is really neat and probably the biggest draw for me, keeping a lot of the original church decor but adapting it with the bar and seating. Staff was super knowledgeable and friendly, staying patient with us and our many questions. We got the pretzels as an appetizer which was very good, and I got the Orvall burger which was delicious. No one at my table complained about the food, they were really happy with the choice to eat here. If you're into beer this is a must-visit, for sure!
google avatar

Tony T.

Yelp
It was a good burger, a little too oily, and the pretzel bun was too salty. Burger was NOT worth 19 dollars. The pretzel appetizer looked nothing like the pictures other people posted, and there were no other pretzel items on the menu. What we got looked like a pretzel you get out of the frozen section at Kroger that they warm up in the toaster/microwave. The "large frietjes" were god damn french fries that were a very small portion size - the fries were good but very annoyingly small for 8 dollars and they called it a large portion. Corn canestri was good but again 26 dollars and very small portion size. The waiter was nice. The ambiance was lame: congested, uncomfortable seating, and pictures of holy figures on a "gender neutral" bathroom. It was too much of an annoying experience to return for a burger that was just decent but way overpriced.
google avatar

Bridget W.

Yelp
Great atmosphere! The food was delicious and the beer selection was vast! Our server was very attentive! Their outside area is so pretty! You have to check out the u shaped table upstairs and don't forget to walk next door to check out the wine bar.

Yelp
Holy Grale is finally reopen and I'm overjoyed! The remodel turned our great, and my first visit back did not disappoint. Ordered the roasted beets, asparagus, pan roasted trout, and the steak frietjes. My only complaint was that the asparagus was a bit over cooked, but the flavor was amazing, as was everything else I ate. Servers are very knowledgeable about the beers and ciders on their menu, and very friendly and attentive. This is place is one of Louisville's gems, and I can't wait for many more happy returns.
google avatar

Lara Z.

Yelp
3 really good beers. We enjoyed them all. The Tripel was a great dessert!! Pork Schnitzel and their amazing fries with sauces really hit the spot. The outdoor area was very nice.
google avatar

Brooke C.

Yelp
Sat outside in the Biergarten where there are umbrellas and a fan. Love the vibe out here. Order at the Biergarten attendant. Lots of gluten free options! The Grale burger was fantastic. As my friend said, "no notes". I appreciate the thick slice of bacon on it. Beer cheese & pretzels came with 2 pretzels breadsticks. Don't be scared of habanero in the description in the cheese. It was super subtle & really good. Curry ketchup & freitz sauce is where it's at for the fries/freitz.
google avatar

Maddy B.

Yelp
Loved the overall vibe and aesthetic. The burger was insane! The fries and the different sauces were also delicious. It was raining so couldn't sit outside, but would love to go back!

Carlie C.

Yelp
Burger was mehhh compared to most I have had. Expensive. Fries add on, with mediocre sauces. Vibes are really cool though.

Yelp
I've been wanting to check our this place for some time! I came on a Friday around 6 and it wasn't quite busy yet, inside or outside. I paralleled parked nearby with no problem. I walked maybe just a block to get to the place. It's dark inside but it's got an interesting tavern feel with all the wood. But it's hipstery and somehow, kinda low key. You order at the bar and then take a seat. We decided to sit inside to take in the atmosphere. My friends and I shared the simple salad, a pretzel bun with beer cheese, the poutine, and the 3D valley farm burger. Simple delicious! The items on the menu seem a bit pricey but the ingredients seem to be quality. Maybe it's locally sourced too? Not sure, but I support it! There's a lot on the menu I'd like to go back and try! We all tried different stuff off the menu. My sister got a sour beer while my friend got some sort of fruity one that reminded me of wine. I got the Orval, which is their house beer. It was light and fantastic! The staff was amazing! They're all very nice and friendly. They had some good recommendations for drinks and were attentive to customers. They took plates as soon as they were empty and cleaned up as soon as they could. Can't wait to hang out here again!

Yelp
This is such a great little spot. It's very popular in the summer for outdoor beer drinking on their beautiful patio. The venue is an old church transformed into a unique beer garden with rotating drafts and unique and hard-to-find bottles. They also serve great German-inspired food from a rotating menu. Their outdoor space is lovely and covered in greenery, but they also have indoor seating and additional seating in the upstairs "choir loft." Just because this place is normally considered a summer spot, don't count it out in the winter! They make a different beer ramen every Sunday that will warm your soul on even the coldest days.

Yelp
UPDATE: I've been back to Holy Grale numerous times since my last update. The place never disappoints and it's definitely one of my favorite places on Bardstown Road. Holy Grale doesn't make their own beer but if any beer fans visit and need recommendations, I always send them to the Grale. It's an absolute must! They constantly add beer to their menu. You'll find good beer that you normally can't find everywhere. They also have special beer events so there's usually something to look forward to when it comes to Holy Grale. I'm keeping my review at 4 stars. For me, the only thing lacking is with the food. Don't misunderstand... everything they serve is delicious. A lot of people rave about their burger. It comes down to price vs what you think things should be worth. I'm sure that old church space isn't cheap and that's why things are a bit more expensive than they should be. Unfortunately, that prevents me from eating here as often as I would like. Everything else here remains the same. It was an old church converted into a bar/restaurant. The garden back patio area is still one of the best in the Highlands. If you don't want to sit outside, have a seat near the bar. If that's not comfortable, go upstairs to the loft(they have different beer up there). One other thing to mention is what they started doing recently. They started having a Holy Happy Hour from 4-6 through the week. During that time, they have a $10 burger. Each week, they put out something new. Keep your eyes focused on their Facebook page because they usually post the Happy Hour special there. It's always drool-worthy. Overall, Holy Grale is a must-visit destination. If you're entertaining visitors, this place should definitely be in your list of recommendations. .

Yelp
Holy Grale is a truly incredible find! First up, the venue is both cool and unique - they've actually taken a church and turned it into a beer pub. Service is friendly and fast and the prices are quite reasonable. The selection of available beers is huge, with some truly outstanding choices. They've also got some really good food. Last visit, I tried their pretzel bread with beer cheese - it was excellent! I can't wait to return to check out more of their food and beer choices :-)

Yelp
I was brought here by Emily H while I was in town for dinner and absolutely loved it. First of all, any church turned bar is going to be a super cool venue but they've really added some unique charm and stuck with a theme. I think my favorite was the men's bathroom being plastered in The Last Supper spin offs. We dined upstairs in their version of the Sistine Chapel which seems a little more intimate and brighter than downstairs, but not in a heaven vs hell sort of way. We starter with the beer cheese pretzel and a beer menu to review. You'll have a lot of great beer to choose from so take your time with the good book. The beer cheese pretzel was more like a loaf and the best I've ever had. I think I ate more than my fair share but Emily and her hubs were cool with it since I was a first timer. For my entree I had the Spaetzle and added the schnitzel. Unless you're vegan/vegetarian then do not... I repeat, DO NOT skip out on the schnitzel. Typically I hate krout so I got it on the side but it thiers wasn't bad and I ended up mixing some of it in to the dish. If you're also not a fan, I would still recommend it on the side so you can add to taste. All in all, this was not only a great meal but a great experience. If the Holy Grale is looking for disciples, I'd join this religion any day.

Yelp
My husband and I visited here for brunch. We had a very pleasant experience. It's interesting that you can't even tell that it's a restaurant from the outside. Once you enter the restaurant, the atmosphere has a very cool vibe. Very small but it's nice that you can sit at the bar and either watch the espresso machine or chefs making your food. We shared the grilled cheese sandwich, smoked trout board and a biscuit with apple butter that we took home. Everything was very delicious and prepared with a careful touch. Just look at that cappuccino!!!

Yelp
Holy Grale. What can I say? Perfect beer. Perfect food. Perfect ambiance. Perfect servers. Perfect garden. This is a spot I die to come to for any date. I bring all my out of town friends. With COVID, their times listed on their website are inaccurate but correct on their Instagram. Currently Thursday-Saturday 4-9p. Carry out, delivery, outdoor dining only. As the weather is getting cooler and infection rates higher, things may change soon. All that said, I love this place. It's garden has twinkle lights that will have your Bumble date falling in love with you even though you're both freezing in 40 degree weather. As other reviewers certainly point out, the building is a repurposed old beautiful chapel and the theme continues to the garden with well lit stained glass windows. The garden is shared with Gralehaus which is directly behind Holy Grale. (Which btw, has several completely unique boutique B&B rooms to rent!) Can this place get any better?

Yelp
Holy Grale. Great spot in Louisville, KY with a great selection of draft and bottled beer. A nice menu and bar service - we chose to eat at the bar ( no surprise) but you could also sit outdoors in their patio area. This is a refurbished house of worship and still has a lot of architectural details and nods to that chapter in history. Parking is street parking. We walked a few block which was fun in this charming neighborhood. The food menu is limited but interesting. We shared an order of mussels eith an add/on of frites. Great flavor and perfect texture - the fries are Belgian style and very crisp. The mussels have a warm curry aroma and served with sliced jalapeños which were mild and enjoyable but unexpected. The steaming broth, sopped up with toasted French bread is a delight and you'll wish you had more bread but save room for another glass of beer. We tried 4-5 different selections of beer, barely a dent in their impressive menu. Great experience.

Yelp
Great service! Great atmosphere! Good food but VERY VERY small portions. If you're getting food understand it's very expensive and has very small portions. I ordered spatzle and it came in a regular sized bowl. It wasn't even half of the bowl. Best to go just for drinks and get food elsewhere. I stopped at the Wendy's to get food afterward.

Yelp
I used to be a Holy Grale hater, but now I am reformed. Okay, I didn't hate it, but I always felt like they were a little pretentious about their beer and offered little help when I've asked for recommendations. But my last few experiences there have been really great and I wish I had tried their food much sooner. It's perfect for a snack (a cone of frites or some pretzel bread), but it's also really good for a whole meal, too. I'm not much of a meat person, so I usually get a salad and a cone of frites with lots of dipping sauces (they are all fantastic but I especially love the green chile beer mustard). My partner loves their burger and I've been eyeing their spaetzle for next time. The last time I dined in, my friends and I were in a hurry to get to a play, and our food came quickly and we had plenty of time to get to our show. Lately, I have only been getting takeout due to COVID, but the takeout experience has been fantastic. They have online ordering, and right when I pulled up, they brought the food out within 30 seconds. Even though I am a beer novice, I am really glad I gave Holy Grale a chance. I'll definitely keep coming back, even if I still don't know how to pronounce the beer names.

Yelp
I'm not sure who could ever write a bad review of this place. We were referred to this place by a local - and man, it hit every checkbox. The atmosphere was quirky but interesting, the patio was beautiful, and the service was great - The food keeps both visitors and locals coming back - kudos to the kind man that suggested it to us - We have been suggesting it to anyone who goes to Louisville.

Yelp
Holy Grale is great. Enough said. A group of us came here during the Zombie walk to avoid the crowds and to get food. The inside looks like a small church so it is interesting to look at. They have a large selection of beer so there is something for everyone. I don't remember what kind of beer I got but it was good. The food menu also has a large selection to choose from. I went with the pretzels and beer cheese and I did not have any complaints about it. I wouldn't mind coming back to try more of the beers they offer
