Gorgeous place to grab a coffee, with great breakfast sandwiches too. Every little detail has been thought of, right down to the tile work where you stir in some cream and sugar and dispose of your cup. The atmosphere is amazing, staff are friendly, they sell work from local artists, and are even queer and trans friendly. The fountain on the patio along with petals from overhanging flowers petals dropping down onto the tables and ground below seal the deal to create an absolutely stunning oasis in LA. Pics are from the Christmas season - as a Dane it made me smile to see a few julenisse on the shelves 🥰 EDIT: I found out from my therapist (who’s Latino) that what I assumed were julenisser are actually duendes!! I get the Cafe latte with almond milk and cinnamon 😋 delicious . I recently tried their Cold Matcha and added agave. So good! The atmosphere is great and I love how they display local shops in their Cafe. The food is great too. Always so fresh. The people are nice . Must recommend.

I really hate to leave this review - in fact I rarely ever leave any unless I feel something needs to change. So please know that I only say this because I want the best for this business and I think it could be a lot better. I’ve been coming here for over 7 months due to the proximity of the cafe, and each time I wonder why I come back. A majority of the staff are super standoffish and make me feel really uncomfortable : super awkward and don’t know how to respond when I say normal things like how are you. I’ve had a very hard time trying to get a decent cappuccino or cortado from this place. It’s always very burnt tasting and the ratios are all over the place. I used to be a barista and I’m honestly astounded that there aren’t more bad reviews. A cappuccino shouldn’t burn your mouth at the first sip - the milk is always scalding hot and over steamed. I think they need some better training to learn how to get proper micro foam. I’m really not that fussy in most places but I can’t believe how terrible something as simple as a cappuccino is from a coffee shop. I’ve ordered one at least a dozen of times stupidly expecting it to get better. Their sandwiches are usually good - but all of the pastries I’ve tried have been pretty mediocre/bad. The only drink I’ve had a pretty consistently good experience with is a Matcha, but they over sweeten it so I ask for just a tiny bit of it. The patio is beautiful and it’s really lovely to sit out there. Again I don’t want to leave this review to create a negative impact on this business, I only hope they take it seriously to better their service and quality.

By far my favorite coffee shop in LA! The staff is so nice here, the coffee is amazing and just a cool little spot to use some wifi and get some work done. Thank you guys!

I've been coming to this shop for over 10 years. Used to be a loyal patron, upon my return from living in another state it saddens me to see how far down hill the shop has gone. It seems to be existing in the shadow of the previous owner. Holy Grounds used to be an El Sereno institution. I can no longer say that with pride unfortunately. The neighborhood vibe there is no longer how it used to be. It used to be a vibrant environment, not to mention the patio was pretty awesome, even had a stage where performances like comedy night were held weekly which were my favorite personally.

What a cute place. The patio space, so calming. And they showcase local artisan goods for sale. Only had a drink, will be returning to try the food. Looked delicious

Went to a cute little gem in LA for coffee. Didn’t see any parking lots but got lucky and found parking on the street. Inside, there was an area where they sold local artist’s art and gems. There was also a courtyard where you can sit and enjoy their coffee. I got a lavender honey latte and it was good but it was a little too sweet for my taste. (I forgot to take a picture)

The grilled cheese has tomatoes, but otherwise was delicious! It had a lot of nice, Smokey flavor and was definitely filling enough as a meal on its own. The coffee was very good as well, and they do have a secret menu. Check out the pictures some other yelpers posted. The big draw of this place, in my opinion, is the setting. They've put a lot of effort into making the outdoor area feel like an oasis with the fountain and cacti. There's a lot to look at, especially on the reliquary.

A unique cute place which requires street parking. Staff are friendly and easy to make conversation. The menu is simple which is great if you suffer from choice-paralysis. They do have a secret menu for drinks if any of those call out to you. The seating area is wonderful under nice SoCal weather. Lots of tables and good atmosphere for studying or chatting with friends while the fountain runs in the background. Food and drink arrived at a good pace. The grilled cheesus sandwich is delicious! It's hard to find places with grilled cheese as a main dish on their menu that isn't a sad version of a burger or on a kid's menu. This one was worth it. They even offer a side to accompany it. I got the pickles option. I ordered the horchatta latte from the secret menu and it was good! Only a tiny bit on the sweet side, but I normally order 50-75% sweet on drinks. So personal taste may vary.

Quick and friendly staff who recommended and served up the most delicious cup of cafe de olla I've ever had! Quaint and clean little coffee shop with a nice gift shop and out door seating space.

You would think this was something other than a cafe while driving on Alhambra Ave. Tucked away next to an abandoned restaurant and industrial buildings, this place provides a small menu and special drinks. The cashier recommended their breakfast sandwich, which name I can't remember. I also ordered an iced Cafe de Olla with a horchata flavor. There's also a section where they display and sell local vendor's work. You will find handmade items such as earrings, paintings, mugs, and many others. There's outdoor sidewalk seating and a patio available. The back patio is very relaxing, and there are a lot of tables where you can sit, relax, and enjoy food and drinks. There's only street parking, which is a hassle.

I love Holy Grounds! I have a friend that comes all the way from the west side for their cafe de olla. Their breakfast sandwiches are also great. They have a really cute patio with a good amount of seating. Sometimes they have evening hours which is awesome too.

We've been here a few times and typically it is very good. The wait time for your food can be quite long and they don't call names so sometimes people just take sandwiches even if theirs is not "up" yet. But the coffee and baked goods are great. I will say this last time I was really disappointed in my muenster breakfast sandwich. The ciabatta was not toasted, the bacon was really undercooked, and there was some unwelcome addition in the eggs- I'm not sure what. Might have been sausage (which the sandwich doesn't come with and I I didn't ask for additionally) bc it was a greyish color. But it wasn't very good and I didn't bother eating more than a few bites. Hopefully it will be better next time

I'm so excited to have stumbled upon Holy Grounds while looking for a cafe on Google Maps! Holy Grounds is definitely a hidden gem on an otherwise lengthy street. If you enjoy cars zooming by for white noise, then this spot is perfect for you! What makes it amazing is that parking is plentiful, and there is a two hour limit - perfect for a quick work / study break. I ordered their iced latte, and by the first sip I knew this would be a good day. Unlike other espressos that I've tried ,the ones served at Holy Grounds are lighter, and the milk gives it a perfect creamy texture. If you're into beans that are not too strong but still pack a hint, I highly recommend their iced latte. There are also a variety of snacks and food available for purchase, and most of the space showcases artwork and merchandise from small businesses. Although it's a bit out of the way to drive to, I can see myself coming back whenever I'm in the area just for the ambiance... though beware that there isn't too much indoor seating - two spots at a bar is all that I saw.

I met a friend here for coffee and it was kind of a bummer because the rain made them close the patio. So I asked them for an exception and they were so kind and obliged. The oat milk latte was spot on, I didn't had any sugar and it had a nice foam. And then, from what I understand is a coffee cake comes from homeboy bakery, which is down the road. if you haven't heard of homeboy. Well I think it's an excellent program and a great opportunity. They heated up the coffee cake and it was absolutely delicious with the oat milk latte. I think the last time I was in the area was four years ago so it's been that long since I've met up with my buddy. So along with that atmosphere a really nice coffee, fantastic, coffee cake, and great conversation I really enjoyed myself. Now when it comes to parking, make sure you don't park at the liquor store next-door. My buddy made sure that I knew to find parking on the street which wasn't so bad on a rainy day. But I can imagine it could be challenging. The staff was super busy and it took a while for the coffee to come out. But it was definitely worth the wait. From what I understand. Holy coffee and tea gets much more busier than it was today. So I can't imagine how long the wait could've been . Like 30 minutes or more? So if you wanna run in and run out real quick to get a cuppa coffee, this is not a good idea for this place. But to sit down and enjoy the atmosphere and the vibe and sip with some conversation and coffee cake. I would highly recommend.

Sweet spot in El Sereno that has a great patio. The menu here isn't very big, but it doesn't have to be. It includes classic cafe menu items like lattes, pastries and sandwiches. Milk alternatives include coconut, oat, and I believe soy and almond. I was happier with my sandwich than I was with my beverage Iced matcha latte -- 6/10. Even after ordering it with a vanilla sweetener, my drink still tasted a bit bitter to me and more earthy than my liking Caprese sandwich -- 10/10. This was a very fulfilling sandwich that had fresh ingredients that were generously portioned! The bread they use here is super tasty. Their sandwiches also come with a side of either pickles or a salad

I used to live near by and had always passed by wanting to try but never got the chance to and I finally had the chance to and I was not disappointed. I got an ice chai tea latte with a shot of espresso and it was amazingly good! I also got to try their breakfast sandwich and it was light and tasty! The guy who took my order was really nice and friendly their service was pretty quick too! I really loved the interior design and the style of the cafe. It gave me Spanish style vibes mixed with earthy vibes as well. They also have an area with some interesting trinkets to purchase. Overall, I am glad I finally tried it and will definitely be back again.

Came here on a breakfast date with hubby on a Saturday morning around 8:30. Plenty of street parking on this busy street. The waitress and barista were absolutely great about answering questions and even gave us a small sample of one of the coffees! Super nice! Ordered the Muenster Breakfast Sandwich and the Mexican Mocha. The sandwich had egg, bacon, tomato and greens on a toasted chiabatta bread with aoli sauce. It was perfect!!!! Mexican Mocha was solid. We ate outside in the shaded patio area. It was quiet and relaxing. Small groups of people were coming as we left. Would definitely come again!

I must say this is a hidden gem, tucked away in el sereno. It was our first time here and we loved the food, outside fountain, and the coffee!!!! This place is dog friendly which is a huge plus!

I love coming here to do my remote work. Wifi available, option of indoor or outdoor seating (outdoor is more spacious), and great food and drinks. Shout out to Anthony and Cheri Mae for their excellent recommendations, customer service and genuine conversation. Also, I'm pretty sure the food is fresh to order, so that's awesome! Overall an awesome business.

Place is super cute. There is more space outside. It's a nice studying date area. I got a breakfast sandwich and the matcha latte with agave. The breakfast sandwich was super delicious. It had a chipotle sauce and amazing bread.

I absolutely love this small mom and pop cafe. It's been quite a while since being here last, thought I'd come and see if the Cafe De Olla was as good? And yes! It is! Fresh bites and small to medium sized pastries are a must try. Great customer service, quick, staff is helpful. I love Holy Grounds and couldn't leave LA with out a quick visit.

This is our favorite spot in our old neighborhood!! Great Coffee, Tea and good sweets I had. Green tea latte with almond milk..and the blueberry scone, and Coffee de la olla..not to sweet but good. If you want to cute little place to grab a treat or lunch or just hang out here. Come down and listen to the music here and bring all your peeps here to support a small business. We love it here so when I come in L.A. I go try support all the small business when we are out

This was a lovely place to meet up with my coworkers and get a head start on our project. Unfortunately, the patio was closed, but that just means I have to come back soon, right? This is a small, cozy coffee shop with delicious coffee and an amazing breakfast sandwich! Haven't tried their other sandwiches, but what I did try, I loved. I also got the nod of approval from my supervisor for their scones, and a thumbs up for their tea. They have quite a few hand-made, small, gift-type items from various local artists (the jewelry looked beautiful!), and I was itching to buy a poster or two. Again, this just means I have to visit again soon! Thank you Holy Grounds, can't wait to meet again!

Interesting coffee shop, certainly different than the ones I'm use to. They have coffee, some food and pastries. They also sell some souvenirs books and T-shirts. Coffee was okay. My friends had pastry and they said it was also okay. There is street parking. I did not check if there was internet. They have indoor and some outdoor seating.

I was in charge of coffee at our management meeting and I wanted to impress. I needed a 7:15am pick up and they accommodated. We ordered 3 hot and 3 cold brews big containers. The order came with the cups, creamer, and sugars. It was definitely a hit. I cannot wait to come back and try the whole menu.

I look forward to making a stop here at least once a week if I can. Everyone working here is so kind and welcoming. The energy is always so calm and inviting. Every drink I've had here has been absolutely delicious. Not to mention, the entire shop is gorgeous and I feel truly at home here.

Cutie patchulee kinda establishment. Friendly baristas curate a decent amount of food options. Love the outdoor patio and the local artist fare stand. Not totally sure if this is a vegan type establishment but I could not find bacon to add to my sandwich to save my life. All forgiven given that the drip coffee was glorious !

This place speaks for itself. It has a catholic hispanic household vibe with great coffee and great lattes! Cafe de la Olla: I got it black and it still tastes sweet, like piloncillo with cinnamon. Very solid coffee, would definitely get it again if I come back, maybe less ice this time though since it did have a little too much ice. 9/10 Chai latte: This was the better drink of the two. If you like Starbucks' chai latte, just know that this one knocks it out of the park. This with a shot of espresso would be absolutely amazing. 10/10 We also got a ham and cheese croissant that was cold, even though we asked for it warmed up, but nothing special. Just tastes like a typical croissant you can get at any doughnut shop. 6/10 Overall, the service was great and it's a cool little spot. I will come back if I'm ever in the area again!

This is the second time I go. I forget to take a pic because I am always on the go but the food it ah-okay. It's exactly what you see on the menu, it's simple but it is fresh and affordable. The drinks are pretty great. I got an iced cafe de olla with extra piloncillo yesterday and today I got an iced abuela latte with soy milk. The cafe de olla is better but they are both delicious. The service is great, they are very reasonable and service oriented people I love it. And the ambience is very Mexico inspired. There's a nice fountain outside and chairs. Pretty nice, it will be my go to coffee place.

Great outdoor enclosed zen style space. Feels hidden away from the big street, and teleports you to a friend's mini courtyard. Good for 1-2 people catch up type of space, or study/writing but limited laptop working time cause no outlet access outside and small cafe tables. Open early, close early at 3pm. This place reminds me of Silverlake's hidden Cafecito Organico before more gentrification happened....so maybe before 2015 days. El Sereno is definitely changing. Long standing local hidden gem. - Seating outdoors. Inside courtyard area are 2 seaters, and couch area. There are two 2seaters outside front entrance on street curb. Dogs allowed. Chill space so I wouldn't suggest any rowdy dependants (fur or human), unless you want to ruin the vibe. Food and snacks are served here. SHADE everywhere. Don't have to worry too much about getting burnt cause there are large outdoor umbrellas almost everywhere. - Bathroom has plug in strong fragrance. Anyone allergic to fragrance (friend's mom), be careful. - Free street parking, 2hours. Unsure if it really is regulated though. - Small cute local artisan store No outside food and drinks which I thought is a usual norm for any place.

The coffee is phenomenal. It has a cute outdoor seating area and art from local artists that can be purchased. The man at the register was so sweet and we loved his recommendations. Will definitely be back soon. I need to try the food options next.

My favorite coffee shop in all of Los Angeles! The staff never fails to be kind, welcoming, and accommodating. Their menu is full of great options, and I love how they feature so many amazing small businesses in the area. You have to try their coffee and sit out on the beautiful patio.

I visited Holy Grounds and ordered a turkey sandwich. I liked how every big sandwich came with the option of side salad or side of pickles. I also ordered a hot chocolate, which was very delicious, especially with cold weather right around the corner! All the employees were very sweet! I liked how they all got along with each other. The patio was the absolute best part--many plants and flowers with a very beautiful fountain. It makes me feel like I'm in the backyard. Would definitely come again!!

What a cute little coffee shop! Came by a couple weeks ago and I almost hate to admit that my bf and I have been coming every weekend since hahah. We're obsessed with their cafe de olla, we usually get it iced with oatmilk. It doesn't come sweet and we both like the subtle taste of the different ingredients like cinnamon and orange peel they used to make it with! We also ordered their tuna sandwich the first time we came, it was ok. They make their tuna salad with chopped up bell peppers and corn which my bf wasn't a huge fan of but I was! The bread is also supposedly jalapeño corn bread but it looked and tasted like a different bread. They also have assorted pastries like coffee cakes, brownies, scones, and cheese danishes. Street parking and they have a patio out in the back surrounding a water fountain. Books are also available in the front if you wanna grab one, or donate one! Staff here are also usually pretty up beat and on top of the orders! Every time we've come in, there are at least 2-3 people lined up behind us but we always get our drinks and order within 5-10 mins. They also have a reward system here! I'm not sure how much you have to spend to get 1 point but after 8, you get a free drink on the house! Yay!! (:

The baristas aren't friendly, nor welcoming, and seem unhappy which makes it an unpleasant experience. Cappuccinos aren't particularly flavorful; they're mostly milk always small serving. It's nice decor; however, it has a somber vibe.

Horchata Latte in El Sereno, Los Angeles, California... After a dimsum brunch, Ed, Tim, Lisa, and I searched our Yelp app for coffee shops. We found Holy Grounds. I liked the name of the place and the reviews seemed promising. We found free street parking and entered the cozy shop. I really liked the bookshelf outside on the sidewalk - donate a book/take a book. Inside, Holy Grounds supports local artists by featuring their artwork - available for purchase. The friendly, helpful cashier's name was Mayo. He knew the menu well and made great suggestions! I ordered the iced horchata (cinnamon rice water) Latte with oat milk. It was deliciously refreshing! We sat outside in the courtyard because it had a beautiful fountain, colorful tile decorations, comfy sofas, and healthy plants for sale. The gentle breeze kept us cool while the umbrellas overhead shaded us from the sun. For sure, I'd return if I was in the area! Next time, I'd like to try the iced chai latte or the Mexican Hot Chocolate!

I felt the need to make a visit to Holy Grounds since it was a Sunday! :) I've been wanting to try this place for some time and I really wanted to like this place... However, this place left me feeling like my coffee was missing flavor and caffeine. I left thinking I needed another coffee and that's not a good thing since I added an extra shot... ouch! The 3 stars is just for the ambiance. I love coffee and I don't know if it's what I ordered but I wasn't a fan... It was a HOT Sunday afternoon so I decided to get an ice blended horchata latte with an extra shot. However, the blended drink did not taste of an horchata latte or seemed as though there was an extra shot. After looking at my friends drink, I wished I had just got it iced. Mine tasted like watered down coffee and I would not recommend it. On the flip side, this coffee shop is really adorable. The decor is a mixture of Spanish influences along with local artists. They also seem to have a private area that they rent out. Overall, I would come back just to try something else...

This place is so cool. I lovelovelove their decor and collection of art and trinkets being sold by locals. I love that I was given a sample of cafe de olla when asked about the sweetness. And I ordered their meunster breakfast sandwich which was absolutely delicious and very fairly priced. I would highly recommend to check this place out :)

Best place to come after a hike, delicious pastries and of course the cafe de ollo. The patio is great for a hang. Prepare appropriately if you attract mosquitos!

This little gem in the outskirts of Alhambra/El Sereno is definitely a must try. Their authentic taste for cafecito is on point I'm especially in aww with their Wilson drink yummy,also their munester breakfast sandwich is delicious..I like supporting this local business and see it thriving in the neighborhood..if you're in the area definitely go by and check it out. Such a cute little hole in the wall, I've driven by so many times but missed it! I LOVE the large availability of outdoor seating. The wifi only connects if you're closer to the door though, which can be a problem if you can't find a seat there. The employees were kind, seems like a very community oriented spot. I got a breakfast sandwich, kinda small but yummy! The iced cafe de olla is excellent too! I look forward to coming back

LOCATION: Holy Grounds Coffee & Tea is a really cute hole-in-the-wall coffee shop, down a quiet residential neighborhood. There's a few spots of street parking in the front but it has a short time limit. I didn't see a dedicated parking lot so keep this in mind, especially if you plan to come here to do work for a few hours. It boasts a beautiful outdoor patio with umbrellas and surrounded by cacti all around. It's very peaceful. FOOD: Normally, when I try a new coffee shop, I order an Iced Vanilla Latte just to keep it safe and stick to the best classic. So I ordered that here with oat milk. It was more creamy than sweet or even strong when it comes to a coffee flavor. It's a nice boost but the coffee could've been a little stronger in my opinion. Overall, for the coffee aspect itself, I'd give it a 6/10 for the flavor profile. SERVICE: I'm not sure if the cashier was having a rough morning but service was okay. Nothing amazing but not bad either. This wasn't enough to keep me away so I'll be coming back here!

Only reason why I'm giving it 3 stars it's because of the workers they have the worst attitudes. There's time that one or 2 will be nice but others omg! The coffee and food is so good that's the only reason why I came back but please change the attitude!

Just tried Holy Grounds Coffee for the first time the other day. Tried the iced cafe de Olla and the coffee cake and enjoyed both. Server was nice and I liked the welcoming feel of the place. Very cute courtyard where I was able to sit and have a conversation with a friend.

Cute little shop with lots of tables in the patio. The food, service and vibes were great! I love their jalapeño croissants.
