Holy Schnitzel

Was visiting for the weekend and a friend brought me to the Amsterdam location - we had been trying to figure out what to eat for dinner since about 10am and I’m so glad we came here! The pastrami bombs were so so so good, and the schnitzel wrap was 10/10. Schnitzel is one of my favorite things ever to eat at kosher restaurants and it did not disappoint. Great service from Ben and Jen - explained the parts of the menu I had questions about and very attentive throughout our dining. Will definitely recommend to my friends in NYC, whether they keep kosher or not!

The Food is outstanding. My girlfriend and I love the food so so so much. Amazing service , special shout out to jasmine, she is the definition of an amazing model for the business. Jasmine made the experience top-tier. Thank you so much. Wouldn't be the same without her presence.😀

Delicious food!! Chicken poppers are always amazing and the loaded fries. Jasmine was so welcoming and was delightful. So easy to order and food came so quickly!

I recently ordered food from Holy Schnitzel while at work. The food was delicious and delivered in a timely manner. I especially want to acknowledge Jasmine. She was attentive, warm, and genuinely thoughtful, and it was clear that she cares about the people she serves and interacts with. Her level of customer service went above and beyond what you typically come across, and that kind of effort deserves recognition. Great food and excellent service. I would highly recommend.

The schnitzel was well seasoned and crispy. Wow the sandwich was so large I could barely fit my mouth on it. I feel so full and happy, yay! It was a very good experience!

I have not one bad thing to say about this place. Holy schnitzel is a gem. I love so many things here. The chicken littles are amazing the sliders are so good and the burger is my daughters favorite. Everything is made when you order so it's abit of a wait but it's so worth it. And the whole staff here is a pleasure either on the phone or in person. I have even tired the one in Staten Island and it's just as good.

I ordered this on NYE through DoorDash. I ordered the chicken lils, which is chicken sliders (really just a cutlet cut in half), with pickles, mayo, and whatever "holy sauce" is. The chicken was under-seasoned and uninspired, the buns were not toasted well. I got fries, which were soggy (probably not their fault, probably due to delivery). I'm not sure what type of place this actually is, or the origin of the name (they do have schnitzel, but doesn't seem a focus point). They have random selections like hummus platter, cornflake chicken fingers, various chicken dishes/wraps/sandwiches. They have burgers, pulled beef, pastrami and pepper steak sandwiches. There is probably a concept I'm missing with this place, and I'll look into it more, but at this point, it's a "Jack of all trades, master of none," and there is nothing I see to pull me back to try more.

Chicken cutlet, and food similar to it, has become one of my favorite foods. And much like my quest to find good Mexican food, I am also in a quest to find the good places that serve cutlet style chicken sandwiches and wraps. Unfortunately, Holy Schnitzel did not live up to my expectations. Their listing on UberEats shows their namesake sandwich packed with generous portions of chicken. But reality gave a different experience. The chicken portions were ridiculously small. Even the vegetables and dressing came in very small portions. This place turned out to be a tremendous disappointment. I will never buy anything from here again. I hope they change their business practices, or get pushed to the dirt by the better options that inhabit the Manhattan area.

The food was average at best while the plastic utensils added a tacky touch.There are no paper menus so you order from a monitor at which point they take a picture of the monitor to give it to the kitchen staff.They do not tell you that is how you place your order since they assume everyone has been there before and knows how to order.They also don't understand what paper money is.

This place is wonderful for kosher food. The food is absolutely delicious. Falafel everything. The Pita and Hummus is among the best I have every eaten. The staff is friendly and fast, very attentive. Prices are excellent. Portions are over the top, share everything. Side dishes are wonderful as well. Due to COVID we sat outside and it was comfortable.

Awesome chicken bowls with tons of rice, various soups such as chicken vegetable and lentil. Super clean and fast service in Roseland. Sauces are great and they have a wide variety. Sides like sweet potato fries and Cole slaw. Plus the schnitzel sandwiches are terrific. The menu is loaded with choices. Bring your appetite as there is plenty of food. I've tried at least 3 locations and they seem to be growing due to well deserved popularity.

This restaurant is a classic. Great place for creative schnitzel, grilled chicken, pastrami, etc sandwiches. The Chummus plate is quite good, the Cajun fries are great but not very spicy. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING WITH EGGPLANT. I have, on two separate occasions, and both times the eggplant was severely undercooked. Other than that I have no complaints. I recommend ordering on the computer screen at the cashier so you can see how much you will be paying because with sandwich add-ons the price can really add up.

Awesome sandwiches that really hit the spot. I highly recommend trying this place if you have not.

Fresh , great size , tasty , done perfectly (well.... not like my mom but closet :) and i am talking about the staple - Schnitzel sandwich. Excellent service and quick . Definitely will try the rest of the menu in the near future.

We placed an order from Holy Schnitzel on the Upper West Side at 6:30pm. It arrived over 3 hours later at 9:40pm. I am not satisfied with this service. If it was going to take longer than 90 minutes to arrive they should not have taken the order to begin with so my wife and I could have made alternate arrangements. I am not satisfied with this service. The bland salad and tiny chicken wings weren't satisfying either. I'm not going to be ordering from them again unless they make it right. 3+ hour wait for delivery is unacceptable. Again, if it's going to take this long, don't take the order. Also, the time that it arrived was 9:40pm, not 9:09pm as shown in the screengrab. They closed the order early. It wasn't there then. UNACCEPTABLE.

Liked the food the first time of two, and the servers were wonderful. The way to order sucks: prefer talking to a waitperson. Chaotic and late service. Sorry: wanted to like it more.

The sandwiches were awesome here. The bread was perfect and the vegetables were fresh. Highly recommend!

The chicken is good and the price is reasonable for kosher food, but beware: wait times are excessive for order or delivery. I have ordered pickup three times now and Holy Schnitzel consistently keeps me waiting 20+ minutes beyond the promised pickup time. More, the restaurant is absolute chaos, so I would caution against eating in as well. Portion sizes are also inconsistent. I've had well-portioned sandwiches, but when the restaurant is under stress, don't be surprised by smaller portions or even the incorrect order (I'm convinced that the various sandwich "flavors" are just the same sandwich by different names). If you aren't strictly kosher, skip it! There are cheaper and quicker options nearby. I know if I didn't adhere to kosher meat, I'd go elsewhere, but for kosher it's really not bad given the other kosher spots nearby. If you are kosher, you know the drill: compromise, compromise, compromise :) Holy Schnitzel gets 2-stars on the kosher scale, 1-star when compared to other spots in the neighborhood. Advice to ownership: (1) You could cater to non-kosher customers if you made your operation more efficient and portions more consistent. When your food is good it's great! Work on smoothing out your order process and you'll be more successful. (2) I know it is enticing to steadily and significantly raise your prices post launch (cough, couch, NY Brat Factory) but be careful - while you're hot and new, it is your reasonable prices that helps capture your business - raise them and you'll lose your customers to the many neighboring establishments. (3) If someone is waiting in your restaurant 20-30 minutes beyond the promised wait time, offer them a free drink or appetizer. Sometimes restaurants screw up - it happens - and the little bit of grace is the difference between a lost customer and repeat business.

We ate at Holy Schnitzel on the UWS tonight. 4 of us. At no time did anyone in charge ask us for proof of vaccination when we sat down. It was not full, there were a few other tables. Yet one member of our party did not receive her food until 20 minutes after we did. On top of all that, the meal was so-so. The sides were plain, (Israeli salad had tomatoes that were tasteless) and the schnitzel was borderline dry. Fries were very crunchy though. The food is what is is. The not asking for proof of vaccination - unacceptable. Getting your meal 20 minutes after the rest of your table? For $22 you can get much better food (although not kosher) elsewhere. And when we realized that the kosher smokehouse was just down the block and we could've gone there instead.... Highly doubtful we'll return. Even though the staff was nice, they were not thorough or competent.

Ordered take out. Hope this was one off bad night for these guys. Chicken was dried out and very small portion for over $30. Falafel, and fries were good.

Excellent Avocado and Romaine salad with Grilled Chicken!!! I wasn't expecting much from this place but my son said he had eaten at a place in Jerusalem with the same name so we tried it. He ordered the schnitzel and French fried sweet potatoes and some stir fried veggies. He loved his meal. We both ate, and our total bill was $40. Amazing meal!

I ordered 2 chicken wraps at 6:28PM.... I was told there is a 30 minute wait but that they would try to make it faster.... this is a fast food takeout - not a 5 star steakhouse- it shouldn't take 30 minutes but I said ok and waited.. after 35 minutes they told me there were 15 orders in front of mine.... they offered me a refund- it was a lose lose at that point- get a refund and I wasted 35 minutes and will go home with no food... or stand there another 30 minutes.... decided to go home... at 7:57 PM (1.5 hours after I ordered) the restaurant called to tell me my food was ready.... I would like to respond to the response that holy schnitZel left on my comment- but there doesn't seem to be that option. This is absolutely FALSE. First I would like to mention that the clerk lied and said that he told me the order would take 45 minutes to 1 hour when I ordered- I NEVER would have placed the order- I had my 10 month old son with me who had to go to sleep!! Secondly they didn't "comp" my meal, they offered me a refund and to cancel my order!!! BIG DIFFERENCE. and no one offered to bring it out to my car in fact he told me there were still 15 orders ahead of me! So glad I didn't wait because an hour after I got back to the East side and forgot about my order which I canceled they called to tell me it was ready. Liars- get your act together and stop making excuses- figure it out before you open!!

FRAUD. They charged me twice for a meal then let me know they were closing and I wouldn't receive my food.

We ordered takeout twice in the past few weeks and both times it was sooo delicious. We tried to keep it healthy by starting out with big salads, which were very delicious . Then we had the schnitzel platter and the grilled chicken platter. They came with 2 sides each, and that was our undoing!!! The onion rings are fantastic if you like crispy, thick sliced onion rings. The batter is perfectly balanced and doesn't overwhelm. The Cajun fries were excellent, perfectly seasoned! In our attempt to be healthy we had the guacamole which I didn't expect to be so tasty, just like homemade! HS is my new go-to restaurant. YUMM. PS. Don't deny yourself the side sauces, they're all really good.

I tried it today with my family. Our schnitzel sandwiches were very good and a nice size. For around $12 or so they were a pretty good deal, especially considering kosher food is usually expensive. I'm taking off a star because our appetizer was a bit small and overpriced. Also, there was a long wait for our food. Nevertheless, the schnitzel was a nice treat and it's nice to have a casual family friendly restaurant in the neighborhood. We'll be back.

The food here is AMAZING, some of the best food I've ever had everything on the menu is delicious and it's some of the best kosher food in all of NYC

The food was very good, but that is not the whole story in judging a restaurant. After driving 2 hours from Connecticut we wanted a fairly fast and simple Kosher eatery. The automated order entry system was neither simple nor fast as there are only 2 machines. Our party of three had to make choices scrolling through ughh the menus in series. It was slow and cumbersome compared to reading a menu and reciting an order. WE also felt the prices for some itmess was exorbitant such as the bottle of Stella beer for over $8 and then there were no glasses Simone had to think from the bottle. The tables were pushed all over the place and the chairs were all in disarray. In all it felt like we were eating at a take out place AAA's the seating was a side thought. The burgers and schnitzels were delicious but the other elements make this a one time visit for us.

I have been to numerous holy schnitzel throughout the New York area. They all serve good food and are very reasonably priced. My only complaint is that they are so slow in preparing your order. I went off hours at 3 and the place was half empty. Of the four diners that were there I had to wait half an hour for two heroes to be made. It looks like they make one dish at a time and other people were frustrated at the amount of 2 to get their food out of the kitchen. Again the food is very good and the staff is very friendly however the speed is very very slow

Such an amazing sandwich! I got a cornflake fried chicken with tahini, ketchup and chimichuri. Great quality chicken, perfect amount (very large portion) and really quick delivery with DoorDash. Will definitely deliver from there again.

This place is called Holy Schnitzel for a reason! Literally, that is the first thing that I blurted out of my mouth as soon as i walked in. First, the staff is super friendly; they always greet you with a smile on your face and will cater to your every need super quick. Next, the ambiance is amazing. Such a great crowd. Great people. The food is phenomenal. I will definitely come back!

The chicken fingers in BBQ sauce were good. Cajun fries seemed frozen. Burger patties were gray and unappealing, and those seemed frozen, as well. Ordered medium and got well done. Tables need cleaning and restocking with utensils and napkins. Waiter brought us wrong order at first.

Newcomer to the neighborhood, but extremely solid high quality food across the board. Schnitzel sandwich is great, as are various iterations of chicken from popcorn to strips. Sure to become a steady go to place

We ordered burgers for pick up. I had to repeat my order 3x. When I went in to get I wanted to check the bag that the sauces were there. The cashier was irritated aNd told me the order is exactly as placed. We got home And the 2 medium burgers were definitely well done. There were no sauces on the burger even though the order print out clearly stated the sauces and they were not on the side either. Pretty negative experience Staff who answer the phone should speak English Food should be made according to order Average burger at best. Simply not ok I know I can't wait until Amsterdam Burger reopens just a block away.

I had high hopes for this place, in theory it's perfect, but that wasn't my experience. I had to wait 50 minutes while employees stood around eating and smoking green. No joke. I live upstairs and had been waiting to try it. I've been around this kind of atmosphere and worked in this environment, but they were obviously in no way prepared for what they should have been prepared for. It was poorly managed and poorly run. To top it all off I was treated like shit when I spoke to a guy after approaching him after waiting 30 minutes for a sandwich. I hope they find their footing.

Great food & great prices!!! Love Holy Shnitzel! We've been to almost every location. They are the best. Their portions are amazing especially for kosher. Also, the menu is very kid friendly.

Wasn't bad. Deff worth a try. Speed was good. Seating was good. But seems like they might be going cheap on the quality :/ We really need a good place here.

Avoid at all costs. Got a text alert food was ready. Asked where it was. They told me alert comes early. Nearly 15 minutes later, I saw it behind counter. Was cold. Manager claims she just brought it out. She reheated. Had to wait another 5. At least I got a half @ss apology. Mostly denial. Really don't care about customer service.

This place is really good for kosher..the schnitzel sandwich with lettuce tomato and pickle is really good and big enough for two. I am coming back....if not kosher...it might not be to your standards...enjoy!!!

Amazing food! Busy place but worth the wait. Their schnitzel is amazing and their brisket is out of this world. Not sure why they only have three stars.

What a circus! The menu looks so promising, but the service is a total disaster. I ordered takeout tonight, but when I got there to pick it up (15 minutes after their app said my food was ready) the staff said it would be another hour! That's just unacceptable. I wasn't the only one either! There was a whole crowd of people waiting trying to pick up food having exactly the same issue! No food is worth that kind of atrocious service. The worst part is, I told them to cancel my order, and they haven't even refunded my credit card yet!

The food is consistently great, but this review is for a special shout out to the manager Rachel. We had a family zoom dinner with relatives across the US. Unfortunately, Uber eats only delivered one of our two bags of food (there are eight of us). The delivery person said she would get the other bag that she accidently dropped off with another customer and come right back. She did not. Instead, she went to Holy Schnitzel, told them she did not want to get in trouble and placed a new food order for the missing items that she said she would deliver when ready. She never came back to pick up the order. When we called to ask if the delivery person ever came back, we were told what happened and that she had not come back. We were then told that Rachel heard the story and would pay and deliver the second bag even though it had nothing to do with Holy Schnitzel, just an UberEats failure. The food was promptly delivered and delicious as always. Thank you Rachel !!

Ordered for a company lunch. Everything was done perfectly from the beginning. Excellent communication and just an overall really well done job. The food was awesome. Everything tasted fresh and looked great. Everyone was very happy

Took a ridiculous amount of time. 2 hours for a chicken sandwich. Do not order delivery. And food is mediocre at best. I hope amsterdam burger comes back soon because this place is killing us!

The food here is SO BAD. I don't care what anyone says. I couldn't even eat more than a bite. This place is supposed to specialize in breaded "special" chicken but it tastes worse than my local deli's chicken cutlet I get. I also felt sick after it and they wouldn't give me a refund. Don't eat here. If you're kosher there are better places.

Solid food, but pretty crowded. I was fine using the automated ordering station but some older folks spent a lot of time yelling at it. Big fan of the avocado salad

After a long and tiresome drive in the pouring unsafe dark hailstorm that weather experts are now calling a hurricane, I finally make it to New York from Baltimore. My car beaten up, my back blown out from the miles of traveling and the twist in my stomach from starvation. I felt broken and despaired, until I remembered my good friends at Holy Shnitzel. I raced there, running every red light that was in between me and my sandwich. I finally see the holy light on, letting me know they are still open. At this point the only thing that stands between me and the force of happiness is finding parking. I risk it all, I park in a known towing zone, its worth it. Every bite of my upcoming sandwich will be worth any parking ticket or towing fine. I take my first steps out of the car, running into the restaurant, I see it, everything I've been waiting for, everything I've lived my life for. I see it, it sees me, the connection is there and I know its authentic. I run to it as it runs to me. With his jet black curly hair, lengthy arms and warm smile Eliyah Avraham hands me my to go bag of Holy hope. The sandwich that will get me through the night. Although my order was to go, without hesitation I ripped open that bag like gold was inside. I take one look at that crispy golden glazed chicken, topped with grilled pastrami on a toasted baguette with lettuce, tomatoes , pickles, sauteed onions, holy mustard and of course the holy sauce, and I KNEW that 4 hour drive was worth this dinner. I begin to bite down, sinking my teeth into the soft and luscious bread, sweat beading down my face and my heart continues to pound, my body can't handle the excitement and anticipation and I began to fall, to faint. Before hitting the floor, God sends a angle in the form of Eliyah Averham, he catches me moments before hitting my head. He looks at me with confusion and says "I dont understand its only a sandwich". His intentions were true but words were so false. I turned to him and reply "No, this isnt just a sandwich, this is THE HOLY TOASTY"

I went with my 10 year old son. He ordered a burger and fries and I ordered a salad with grilled chicken. We got his fries right away. But waited an hour and 15 mins for the burger and salad. People all around us who got there way after us were getting similar orders. I went up 3 times to ask what was going on. The first time I was told it would be any minute. The second time they said our order was so simple that it was delayed bc they were focused on more complicated orders. The third time they said any minute and it came shortly after. The salad and grilled chicken tasted incredibly bland. My son said the burger didn't taste right and I was dismissive. The next day he vomited all day. So he got food poisoning from the burger. This place is poorly run, the food tastes terrible and it gives you food poisoning. Avoid at all costs.

this is a review of the ordering process. i never got as far as eating anything. it's a small quick bite place with what i saw was ONE ipad ordering tablet. i never have a good experience ordering through tablets because i cannot customize. you can only order what's there. so anyway we walked in and there were about 3 customers waiting for their orders. there was no one at the tablet. another problem with ordering on tablets is you have to know what you want because otherwise you're faced with navigating the menu, which almost never has things where you want. so we were faced with going back and forth or starting over. another thing: i saw ONE tablet. that's one tablet for a food service that doesn't need a tablet. tablets are for crowded places where the crowds get too large to handle. i could have ordered in less than a minute what took me 7minutes to find what i DIDN'T want on the tablet. when i finally found something to eat(i ended up choosing the simplest thing because this place has more on the menu than JUST SCHNITZEL), i found they only accept plastic. we walked out. and as we walked out my wife picked up a take out menu. once outside and perusing the menu for a minute we found "oh HERE'S what we want!". just a simple schnitzel on their platter menu which we didn't see or overlooked on the tablet. and there you have it - our experience ordering from a tablet at a place that's not big enough to need a tablet and only has one tablet in the first place!!! ps. there's a lot of "cornflake" ingredients in their breading. like real whole cornflakes. to each his own, i say. we had a creme brulee once in texas that had cornflakes mixed in on the topping. we had to jackhammer through the top of the creme brulee.
