Google
Outstanding. A gem of a place. Unique and fresh- delicious creations. Reasonably priced. Loved the tempura mushrooms and Kaisen roll and tempura bananas! Visiting Palo Alto this was a great find!

If you’re looking for top-quality kosher sushi in the Bay Area, Holy Sushi in Palo Alto is an absolute must-visit. Nestled inside the Taube Koret Campus, this hidden gem offers a sushi experience that’s fresh, flavorful, and beautifully crafted. We ordered a mix of poke bowls, sushi rolls, and edamame, and every bite was a standout. The poke bowls were packed with ultra-fresh fish, crisp veggies, and perfectly seasoned rice, creating the ideal balance of textures and flavors. The sushi rolls were expertly made, with a great selection of classic and creative options. Each roll was a testament to quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation. And let’s not forget the edamame, which was steamed to perfection and lightly salted—simple, but the kind of snack you can’t stop eating. Whether you’re a sushi connoisseur or just looking for a delicious and fresh kosher meal, Holy Sushi delivers. It’s the kind of place that makes you wish you lived closer just so you could come back again and again. Highly recommend!

Google
The best sushi place we have had. Amazing Bluefin Tuna belly, Kaisen roll( loved the marinated raw eggs), Tempura mushrooms, Hamachi & Salmon Carpaccio.

Google
Best Sushi I have had. The fish is so fresh it melts in your mouth. They have a variety of options and everything has been delicious. The staff are friendly, and food comes quickly. I have talked to friends and everyone loves this place.

Google
Small portion, slow service, pricy. Fishy smell when we walked in maybe because of the open kitchen. Anyway, we left with pretty empty stomach and the food quality is not really outstanding.

Google
A little gem. Fantastic sushi. So fresh and meticulously prepared. I eat a lot of sushi & this is as good as it gets. Went for lunch, looking forward to going back.

Google
I had the chance to join my wife and daughter for Sunday lunch at Holy Sushi, and now I understand why they love it so much. The sushi was incredibly fresh and full of flavor—every bite just melted in your mouth. What really stood out to me was the welcoming atmosphere. It’s clean, casual, and the service is great. The owner made us feel like regulars, even though it was my first time there. I genuinely enjoyed taking my girls out for a great sushi lunch, and if it weren’t so far from my office, I’d be a regular too. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back. Highly recommend.

Yelp
The food was amazing -- great service, nice staff, and decent prices. The ambiance was also amazing. Everything was great, especially the Aburi Salmon Toro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
Not sure what the heck is going on with this place but ordered several items including some of these "creative" rolls. Nothing was fresh... tuna should be nice and firm not soft and slimy. Hamachi was also very off. Salmon. Fishy! Something seems to be off with this place serving old not fresh fish. Now I'm stuck with the consequences of the three bites I had with food poisoning.

Yelp
Stumbled on this place as driving through ECR Sunday afternoon and the yelpers were spot on. Caterpillar Roll- different version as they used salmon instead on unagi so it gave it a new spin on salmon/avocado pairing. Hot Roll- this was spicy and woke you up as it was hamachi inside with spicy hamachi outside and topped with jalepeno and siracha so definitely lived up to the name. Tuna hand roll- fresh, crunchy and wish I ordered 6 more. Overall the rolls were well prepared as the fish to rice ratio was good and the rolls were tight and well presented. Service was fine so looking forward to another visit.

Yelp
pretty solid sushi, if a bit pricey. ordered takeout a few times and dined in once. quality is consistent and the fish is fresh and satisfying. not the most amazing sushi i've had for the price, but it satisfies the craving and ill be coming back favorite item: hot roll

Yelp
We ordered a few trays of sushi for a team dinner and enjoyed the variety , size and the taste was ok. It might not be the best sushi you had , but if you're looking for a kosher option than that is a fine option .

Yelp
What can I say about this place? Everything. Incredible food. Great service. Friendly and wonderful. Wilson is the chef and wow he's good. Super nice guy who works very hard to offer quality sushi. A total gem in Palo Alto. Love it.

Yelp
When i want sushi that is blessed i go here! The sushi is kosher here. We arrived Tuesday evening around 7:30pm. U can make a reservation which is probably recommended. But we walked in for 2 and seated right away. This place is pretty new and we would pass it all the time on the way to downtown Palo Alto. The interior is small and cozy, their AC was down but fans on and a pretty good ambiance. Ordered the seaweed and cucumber salad to start. And i got the Kaisen roll- chef's choice fish, egg yolk, etc and bf got hamachi kama. I enjoyed the seaweed salad and the really thin cucumbers in a marinade. The kaisen roll was phenomenal, i didnt even get a pic!! Had the freshest butteriest fish, toro? Tuna? Hamachi, and some cooked egg yolk but it's texture is play doh-y in the best way. It was unique and delicious. My bf couldnt help eating more when he usually leaves what i order to eat. The hamachi kama was the best i've had. Sooo crispy yet juicy and the sauce was amazing with fresh dashi in it. Goes well with some rice. Their miso has mushrooms and tofu and it very good too. Overall sooo good and has to be my new fav sushi place

Yelp
Our family loves Holy Sushi! It's become our go-to sushi spot in Palo Alto, and every time we go, we leave happy. The sushi is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, and the menu has so many great options. We started with the Tempura Mushrooms, which were crispy and packed with flavor. For rolls, the Kaisen Roll was a standout--perfectly balanced flavors, with that extra touch of marinated raw egg yolk that made it special. We also tried the Rainbow Roll, which was as fresh and colorful as it gets. My husband is a huge fan of sashimi, and he said the Hamachi and Salmon Carpaccio were some of the best he's had in the Bay Area. Beyond the amazing food, the service is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. It's easy to find street parking, which makes dining here stress-free. They also offer takeout, but honestly, we love sitting down and enjoying the experience. One thing that makes Holy Sushi extra special is their kosher menu, which can be hard to find in the area. Even if you're not specifically looking for kosher sushi, the quality and freshness stand on their own. If you're in Palo Alto and craving sushi, this is the spot. Great food, great service, and an overall fantastic experience. Highly recommend! -- Naomi

Yelp
Holy sushi was just okay. For me it started the moment I walked in, I came within 30 minutes of opening and there were two or three tables with customers. Not busy by any means. I was looking for a quick bite as it was just me. Someone from behind the sushi bar gave a lukewarm hello and then another woman came by and asked how many, and I said one. She asked table or sushi bar and I said table, then she said anywhere and gestured for the tables along the window. There were two closer ones--- one was straight in the sun, the other had more shade. So I gravitated towards the one with the shade and then she pointed to the one in the sun. Great. Like I said I was here for a quick bite, I knew what I wanted pretty quickly and did all the normal signs of being ready to order. She most likely forgot I was there as she passed by me a couple of times without acknowledgment. The food came and it was just okay, nothing memorable and honestly, pretty on par with what I thought it was going to be. Please don't expect the best sushi you're ever going to get like other posts have been saying. When she brings my food, she had the side dish of wasabi and ginger ready to go. But didn't bring it out right, instead she asked if I wanted any and when I said yes, then she acted like I was asking for the moon. Would I come back? Only if I was in the area and had no other options.

Monique S.

Yelp
Can't believe I haven't left a rave review of this place. The quality of the sashimi and fish is solid here. I have been eating here almost on a weekly basis and each meal is consistently yummy. My favorite dishes include the grilled hamachi Kama (which sometimes takes a little bit longer but worth the wait)! The rolls are also packed with goodies and the specialty dishes rival the ones traditional Japanese restaurants serve up. The only downside is that the hours are a bit different than standard so I have arrived, baffled that they are closed. Overall my grade is A+!!!

Yelp
Yeah good is good happy there is a restaurant in my own neighborhood I will be going there again!

Kelsie H.

Yelp
I like the food but unfortunately I've experienced difficulty with ordering online multiple times. It often times takes over an hour. The most recent experience took 1.5 hours, and we sat and waited in the restaurant for 40 minutes. Staff kept telling us to wait but at this'll point it's kind of ridiculous. We ended up leaving to find dinner elsewhere. Unfortunately will not be returning. There was another customer who was waiting for their online order as well, she was still waiting by the time we decided to leave.

Yelp
My partner and I each enjoyed the lunch special of one roll, one sashimi, with our choice of miso soup or salad. I chose a California roll and bluefin sashimi; my date chose a salmon avocado "Alaska" roll and yellowtail sashimi. We shared an appetizer of tempura lion's mane mushroom. The fish all tasted nice and fresh. One waitress had the whole room, but it's a small restaurant, and she worked efficiently. She confidently translated unfamiliar Japanese words on the menu. The restaurant is brand new, and it was beautifully remodeled before it opened, in a clean, bright, modern style. Holy Sushi is strictly kosher. Dishes traditionally prepared with shrimp or crab are made instead with kosher species. Closed on Saturdays and on Jewish holidays.

Yelp
The salmon was amazing and the sushi fresh. Service was quick and personable. Highly recommend!

Yelp
My friend and I went on a weeknight during their soft opening. Service: very attentive and welcoming. They also split the o torro sashimi into 4 pieces for us since there were 2 of us and only 3 pieces . Ambiance: it's fine. Pros: Nice dishes and a sushi bar to sit at. Cons: I could see the tables being crowded on the weekends. Food: overall decent quality at a decent price point. See notes below. Miso and salad were good and pretty comparable to nearby restaurants. O toro sashimi was not the best quality, I would not recommend. It lacked the buttery melt in your mouth I expect from quality o toro. Cherry blossom roll was incredible! Melt in your mouth fish and the combination really worked. Spicy/hot roll needs some tweaking. I loved the concept but the jalapeño overpowered the dish and the spicy sauce on top didn't add much. I would skip unless they edit this combo to remove the jalapeño or make it less spicy so you can taste the different ingredients. Even my friend who loves spice found it too much. I recommend the cherry blossom roll, skipping the hot roll, and trying out some of the other rolls that people here recommend.

Yelp
This is a great place delicious food and very good service. I recommend this place. I always enjoy and the price it's very comfortable.

Yelp
I LOVE sushi and I love that I now have a place I can go to with my kosher eating friends where we can actually eat together and it's GOOD! Usually kosher options are a bit "meh", but this place is awesome. I was so surprised. The quality was amazing, the presentation was good, there was a surprisingly large selection, and the staff were kind and solicitous! Our water and tea was refilled often and the atmosphere was friendly and chill. I had some of the sashimi special options and my friend had 2 types of different rolls, and it was all fresh and delicious. They have an all-gender restroom, convenient location with parking, it's clean, and they do catering! Brilliant little place.

Yelp
We came for lunch and loved it. Everything was fresh and tasty. We took the lunch offer with seaweed salad, miso soup, salmon avocado roll and salmon sashimi.
google avatar

Lauren P.

Yelp
Got takeout from here, place was packed which was a good sign. However, despite being made fresh after some waiting when I arrived for pickup, it was still quite fishy, sadly. Service was friendly, place looked nice and clean. Will give it another shot eventually. Maybe it was a bad day.

Rachel T.

Yelp
Great vegetarian options! They can also make the rolls vegetarian. We loved the mango roll (that we made vegetarian). The salmon (I think 49er) was decent. The fish quality is decent not he best nor the worst
google avatar

Dong Wook C.

Yelp
Pricier than the usual restaurant for the amount of food but fish is fresh. Clean inside. Friendly wait staff. They specialize in sushi. Their rolls are tasty. There are specialty rolls, hand rolls, carpaccio, tataki, chirashi and appetizers available, but the menu at this time does not offer bento boxes, udon, or ramen. It's in a complex surrounded by newer apartments and there is a parking lot on site.
google avatar

Karmalani K.

Yelp
They didn't have any bento plates, what a bummer! Make sure you say no salt if you get the fried tofu! They use A GOOD amount of salt and I can't have any because I'm borderline high blood pressure. The food was good but would have been better if they had bento boxes or even udon. It's a nice small place but the selection mostly sushi.

Yelp
I have eaten here Multiple times Great Food Nice people Great service The Volcano & Golden Gate Bridge are my favorite's Yummy Food

Yelp
I am not a kosher person at all and have had many different sushis at many different places. Including some high end quite well known ones. I went because of my kosher brother. I will say this place is fantastic. All rolls we ordered I ate and I'm usually very picky. The raw sushi melts in your mouth and the cooked sushi has a lot of good flavor that is perfect with the ginger. The people there were very kind as well and the place was clean and very nice looking. I unfortunately could not take pictures as it was so yummy we devoured it rather quickly. Truly a great place.
google avatar

Yelp
Yummy sushi and great service. Everything was delicious and served beautifully. Fish and food were fresh, location is great. We will definitely come again
google avatar

Erika W.

Yelp
Great experience! Clean and chill ambiance, except for the bug killer that zapped every few minutes. The waitress was lovely and made good suggestions. All of the fish was good, tasted fresh and very holy. We had nigiri salmon belly, o-toro, hamachi belly, ikura, Kaisen roll, salmon lover, Negi-toro hand roll, plus they had amazing miso! Definitely recommend going here plus the sushi was very affordable for the quality
google avatar

Maryann B.

Yelp
New location for Holy Sushi! We've been enjoying this restaurant for years and now it has a beautiful sit down location. Everything is extremely fresh. Very yummy selection. We especially like the hand roll selections. My daughter has finally grown out of CA rolls and is devouring Hamachi shots and Negitoro hand rolls!!!
google avatar

Noah G.

Yelp
An amazing new sushi place, instantly became one of our favorites. The service is truly top notch, the food is incredibly fresh, and the ambiance is great. Highly recommend!

Yelp
My first time trying kosher sushi. Very generous sashimi cuts, delicious salmon skin makis and large rolls. I thought everything was reasonably priced. We will be back.

Yelp
Great quality sashimi. Nice spot for a party of two. Convenient location for a lunch spot.

Yelp
Very friendly and atmosphere was welcoming. Service was incredibly fast. Food was fresh and delicious. High grade quality sushi. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Yelp
I hesitate to write this review only because I don't want to share. The food is incredible. Wilson truly cares about every bite he crafts. An amazing experience every time we go.
google avatar

Larry G.

Yelp
I ordered an ate here many times. The food is great. Great service always with a smile and a energy boost for the day. Love to stop by when I'm around. Highly recommend

Elan W.

Yelp
Loved this new place. Service was perfect. Food was wonderful and prices were reasonable. Only suggestion... the hand rolls are formed like tacos and are a little difficult to eat. But delicious. Highly recommend.

Wendy C.

Yelp
This fish was incredibly fresh. I got the chirashi bowl and hot roll. The fish just melts in your mouth. The service was spectacular. They were attentive and welcoming. I haven't stopped thinking about this restaurant since I visited on Tuesday.
google avatar

Steve N.

Yelp
Came here with the wife, told the guy in front I had a gluten allergy, celiac. They made sure my food was prepared to avoid any gluten items. Was very happy with the care.
google avatar

Tim K.

Yelp
I am astonished at all of the five star reviews for this place because I was eager to try it and we went in there and it took several minutes for them to even sit us at a table and then we sat there another 10 minutes and got absolutely zero attention. The place seems completely understaffed, and although the food may be fantastic, we would never have known because we did not even bother sticking around to order. I don't think this place is going to be in business a year from now.
google avatar

Ashleigh T.

Yelp
Delicious kosher sushi! Love the combinations, especially the spicy hamachi roll. Also loved the salmon avacado with lemon. The seaweed salad is very fresh (more than typical sushi places).
google avatar

Zayka Z.

Yelp
What an amazing addition to PALO ALTO with a great menu selection! This just might become or new go-to sushi place!!!

A C.

Yelp
Very fresh fish! On par with sushi Sam in San Mateo. I think they don't open for sabbath like sat night but open Sunday like once a month. Good service, friendly and a good alternative to nobu in downtown.

J M.

Yelp
On the plus side Clean Great service Good size pieces of fish Hugh quality fish On the negative No shellfish No eel No alcohol Somewhat expensive Close at 7
google avatar

Wendy V.

Yelp
Was so excited to try sushi here, I love local and I also wanted to inquire about party trays for my upcoming event. I was in the doorway for several minutes, two employees were present neither acknowledged me. After a few minutes I tried to get the attention and su chef And waitress never looked my way. They were not busy. I really tried because I was so excited to support local business. The food may be great but as far as service, this is first for me, so this place is a no go! Service is first!

Miranda B.

Yelp
Food was awful. Tasted pre-made, not a good combination of flavors. A disappointment.
google avatar

Matthew J.

Yelp
Had lunch with a friend from work here the other day. Service was good, staff was welcoming and friendly, food was tasty. I had the Cherry Blossom roll, which was nice, and the spicy hot roll, which was really good. I'll be coming here again in the future to try other sushi from their menu.
google avatar

Dana S.

Yelp
