Holy Taco Review - East Atlanta Village - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"As one of the few places on the main drag of EAV serving Mexican food, Holy Taco is clutch when the taco cravings hit. You won’t find a larger patio in East Atlanta Village than the one at Holy Taco (sorry Midway, we still love you). You’ll often see families with little kids and strollers the size of Buicks because the place is so spacious. To avoid the kids entirely, go later in the evening and get a Holy Margarita and the Tres Amigos, which is a trio of salsa, queso, and guacamole. It feels painfully obvious, but if you’re going to Holy Taco for a full meal, you should get tacos. It just makes sense. We recommend the skirt steak or the tender braised pork belly on corn tortillas." - Juli Horsford

First time....LAST time!! For starters, the chips and salsa were lack luster to say the least, in spite of what looks like seasoning on the chips, there was no flavor AND bad enough we didn't even finish the bowl.....you know thats bad because who doesn't blow through 2 bowls of chips at a Mexican restaurant?!? There are basically 2 choices on the entire menu; bowls or street tacos with meat variations as the only difference. I settled on a bowl due to lack of other choices and ordered one with only rice, steak and cheese. My daughter ordered 2 street tacos. Why we waited over 40 minutes for that small simple order is beyond me, only for mine to come out as a normal steak bowl NOT with just the rice, steak and cheese as I ordered. By this time, I asked for mine "to go" More waiting as it was remade. Finally, we get the bill,(which was not discounted in anyway) my take home bag and head home. Shocked is one word I would use to describe what I took out of the bag; frustrated, irritated and disappointment are a few other words to express this horrible experience. Look at the pictures!!!! There is barley a cup, if even, of rice and this portion looks like maybe something taken as left overs, certainly NOT the full price dinner I paid for!!! Unbelievable!! After 2 bites I quickly discovered it wasn't worth the plastic cup it was in. If you still choose to give this place a try, you can't say you weren't warned and advised to make your own tacos before wasting your time and money here!!

Google
Best little place for some fast and tasty Street Tacos! Authentic Tortilla Chips made to perfection when you order, paired with a Salsa Verde and 2 styles of homemade Salsa. The Esquites was a nice added flair of the Mexican Street corn that keeps you coming back for more. I tried both the Margarita and Paloma - the Margarita was a bit too sweet for me! I highly recommend trying the Brussels Sprout Street Taco!

I love this place. Great staff, incredible food, and excellent margaritas that can be made without alcohol. I usually don't order mocktails because they tend to be so sweet but these are perfect for non-drinkers like myself. The brussel sprout tacos are AMAZING!!!

Title: A Hidden Gem in Texas Corners Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) As a local resident, stumbling upon Holy Taco in Texas Corners was an absolute delight. Enticed by the National Margarita Day celebrations, we found ourselves immersed in an atmosphere that perfectly balanced professionalism with neighborly charm. The service at Holy Taco was exemplary, with attentive staff ensuring our experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we stepped in, we felt welcomed and valued. Now, let's talk about the food. The Pico de Gallo was a revelation - bursting with freshness and flavor, it was evident that it was crafted with care right on site. Each bite was a testament to the quality ingredients and culinary expertise present in every dish. Overall, our visit to Holy Taco was an unforgettable experience. From the inviting ambiance to the impeccable service and delectable food, it's clear that this establishment is a true gem in Texas Corners. We'll definitely be back for more!

We went a little closer to closing than I normally try to, but the owner greeted us and sat us without hesitation. We didn’t know about their taco Tuesday special where all the tacos are half price, so that was an excellent surprise. We ordered chips and queso, steak tacos and Brussels sprout tacos. Everything was great. The queso was flavorful without being spicy. The chips were fresh and crispy and well seasoned. My husband enjoyed his steak tacos. The Brussels sprout tacos were absolutely amazing. As a vegetarian, I’ve had a lot of questionable taco filling options, but this definitely is one of the best and most unique I’ve ever had. The honey chipotle glaze is magical. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the owner was SO nice and helpful. We will definitely be returning!

Went Wed evening, busy, was an hour wait. There's no place for a host/hostess to greet people but as we walked in, we were noticed and nicely greeted by a man who took my name and #. There were 5 of us and we ordered a total of 17 tacos. They brought like 3 trays with random tacos on them vs each order separately on separate plates so as we're going through which taco is who's, we realize that we're missing 3 tacos. They apologized and brought the 3 out but we did have to point it out. If your group is larger than 2, I'd pay close attention to what's coming to your table. Favorites: carnitas, shrimp, chorizo (we ordered all except the chicken and brussel sprouts one). Def order the pico and queso! Overall, cute spot, drinks were great. Tip: go early to get your name in for a table (they'll call your cell).

The food & drinks here are AMAZING! Holy Taco uses great quality ingredients when it comes to both their drinks & their food. The only thing I can say is I wish they opened at least a little earlier everyday especially on weekends ! Great place, great bar, amazing tacos, great service! Highly recommend !

Yelp
I got two 5-pepper shrimp tacos & chips/pico de gallo. The shrimp wasn't edible- smelled spoiled almost (it wasn't spoiled, just had a weird smell). The pico de gallo was odd- way too spicy mouth on fire spicy. So, I couldn't eat the tacos or the pico. I've never disliked pico de gallo in any restaurant so this was weird. The tortilla chips were pretty good. I doubt I'll go there again to eat. Maybe for the tequila drinks. Also I went here last summer and don't remember the food being bad. So despite this review I think they deserve a chance. They have a good reputation. I am guessing this was just an off night.

Yelp
I love this place. It has the best chips and queso, and it's not your average "Mexican restaurant" queso. The tacos are all very tasty, and the variety and pricing is just right. The tequila selection is amazing, the service excellent. The latest addition of the appetizers has just made this place better! So.... Why the 3 stars? Well, the last 2 times I have been in, they have burned this incense. It is STRONG. It is unpleasant. Worst of all, it takes away from the taste and flavor of the food. I want to smell and taste the amazing tequilas and tacos I am eating. This really killed the otherwise enjoyable experience for me. The music has also been too loud the past few visits. I am all about background noise in a restaurant, but I need to be able to hear my table mates and myself think. These things are easily fixable and hope that management improves the ambiance.

Yelp
Holy Taco!! We had a great time there, great service! Yummy Food! Brussel sprouts are AMAZING And since Tacos are always a great choice! Many to choose from, we tried shrimp, chicken, steak and cauliflower tacos. ALL were great! We were with dogs, but since it was rainy, we could go in ( since it seems not a lot of dog friendly patios in Kzoo) I would totally recommend this place!!!

Yelp
We enjoyed the food here but were a little taken aback at the pricing. Very expensive by comparison --the combos are good but it's a fast casual vibe.

Yelp
First time in this cozy new spot! Loved the decor which had a playful but trendy feel to it. The plants lining one wall made the whole restaurant seem welcoming! The food was good but I don't know if I can say great. The tortilla chips- those were great! Had a perfect crisp to them and a little spice. Paired well with the trio of salsas you get in the "chips and salsa" side. I like that it's a taco place and nothing more, but also dislike that it doesn't have more. There are a few sides and honestly we didn't get any. We each ordered 2-3 tacos and they brought it out on one tray (sorry no photos!). It's a fun idea if you're with someone close and want to all try some. But I could see if I went for a business meal, or with someone new, I may not like that intimate feeling of sharing a plate of tacos! I ordered a Paloma and it was good, but it was expensive for the size of the drink. I don't mind paying a high price for a drink with good liquor and flavor, but when it came in the same size small glass as my water, I was a little disappointed. Also because my friend's drink was almost double the size! I'll be back- the tacos themselves were tasty! Especially the shrimp taco! There is one vegetarian Brussels sprout Taco on the menu and my friend said it was good!

Yelp
Great food, drinks, and friendly service! I really enjoyed the peach sangria, chips & queso, and cauliflower tacos. Loved that there were vegetarian options!

Yelp
The best tacos in Kalamazoo. The service was amazing and we had great time. We were driving thru and will certainly come back again.

Yelp
SO excited to be trying this place! It feels like you're no longer in Michigan but some other hip place in some other hip town. No signage ANYWHERE as to where exactly you are about to eat. (I believe the idea is they want to be more of a "word of mouth" place?) So no signs telling you where you are. We tried almost all the tacos (not chorizo) and ordered one specialty cocktail each. I had their peach sangria and husband had the Mexican mule. I loved the sangria and he liked the mule (they added agave nectar which made it sweeter than he thought it would be). I love being able to try all the different little tacos! Really fun! It reminded me a little of Donkey Taqueria in Grand Rapids. Each taco was about $4-5 a piece. This is definitely more of an experience than just plain dinner out. We enjoyed it very much! I wanted to order some tacos to take home but for some reason they weren't set up for take away orders. (Not sure why?) Our server was very nice and attentive and everyone seemed like they were enjoying themselves around us. We are so happy to have this new place to come to!

Yelp
Food good but didnt seem as fresh as it was back when they first opened. New modern environmwnt but bathroom had cobwebs and was dusty, Dirty glasses, slow service(they where not overly busy) no napkins, no ice in water

Yelp
We had a great little early dinner late lunch here. I got the Joshua & he got a Pacifico. We sampled a lot of the tacos haha. Brussel sprout one and fish one were top contenders. Chips and salsa yummy. Quick service, nicely balanced margarita. Great little spot and our waiter William was very helpful and kind! Bathroom was clean we sat outside but inside was super chic loved the vibe!!

Michelle W.

Yelp
The tacos were tiny! The fish tacos are served with a fish stick (no joke!). The brussels sprouts were charred on those tacos. The service was terrible, too. We were told we could sit wherever we wanted and it took between 5 and 10 minutes for a server to introduce themselves. This was a one and done visit for sure! There are too many really good Mexican restaurants in the area.

Yelp
This is gonna be a long one but it's so worth it! Holy Taco in texas corners was the move tonight. My team and I have been trying to get to Holy Taco since they opened and let me tell you, wish I tried it sooner. The chips and salsa were amazing. The chips were crisp and seasoned well. The salsa was hot, mild, and mild verde. The verde and mild was the hit at our table, and the best part is free refills on the chips and salsa while you ate. That had me hooked on this place right away. The Ilovefoodkzoo team loves Elote. Holy Taco had Esquites, which was just their version of an Elote dip. It was flavored well and the dip and chips went perfectly together. Now for the tacos, we got the Chicken, Chorizo,Brussel Sprouts, Carnitas, and the Gringo. I had the Brussel Sprouts, Carnitas, and Chorizo myself. The carnita was my favorite. The pork tasted like a stew or roast like pork. It was tender and juicy. The onion and garlic sauce added some great flavor. The Chorizo was my second favorite. The sausage wasn't spicy as chorizo usually is for me. It tasted like a sausage taco. The Esquites and pickled jalopeno complimented the taco very well. The Brussel sprout was a nice "protein" to have on the taco. The sauce on it wasn't my favorite, it made the taco to sweet for me. Last thing, I know very long post but worth it. The margarita, one of my team got it. She said it tasted good and for not being a big tequila person, she couldn't really taste any and loved it. Definitely take this recommendation and get out to texas corners for this hidden gem.

Yelp
Amazing tacos! Surprisingly the Brussels sprout taco is amazing. Second favorite definitely chorizo. They have a wide selection of tequila and great dips with chips as starters.

Andrea N.

Yelp
Food was overpriced and the wait service was awful. I am not quite sure why we got the bill we did. The tacos were ridiculously small as was the holy dip.

Yelp
Love this new addition to Texas Corners. Very small inside seating. The chips and salsa were great but the guacamole lacked any flavor it tasted like smashed avocado! The Brussel sprouts taco is where it is at! A must try!

Nicole B.

Yelp
Chorizo was the best taco! We also had a Salmon taco which was on special. Staff was friendly and super helpful for our first visit
google avatar

Kayla L.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, staff and food. The shrimp taco was THE BEST. Guac could use a little more flavor and all the tacos were cold when served. But, I think it says something about the food if you'll eat it cold. Definitely going back. It's the new hot spot we needed.

Yelp
How fun!!! We feel like we just went on Spring Break. You can order and add on as you eat. All good. Clean and easy to get carried away with our tacos and margaritas. Very flavorful and nice to try different things. Glad you are so close.

Yelp
We loved our food and drinks! I met a friend here after work on Wednesday evening, I was happy that my friend arrived early or we may not have been able to get a table. The restaurant does not have a lot of seating so if you become a fan you will need to plan to arrive early or wait for a table unless you go on a nice day and can eat outside as they do have a great outdoor seating area! Inside the restaurant is aesthetically pleasing, and as I said they have a great outdoor seating area, you can also sit and eat at the bar. They just opened in September and I believe they are are still training their staff, I believe our server was new, I couldn't decide if she was new to serving or just to Holy Taco...She was very nice but just didn't seem to be up to the standards that I've seen from the owners expect from their staff at their other restaurants. I'm sure it was simply due to them being busy and everything is so new, examples, she did not tell us the differences in the salsas however we heard the server at the other table telling her table the the differences in the salsa, my friend asked for a water, I also asked for a water or I should say I tried but she ran away before I could...so I had to ask her when she came back. So I think she may have been over with the number of tables she had. No the food!!! You must try the Brussel sprout taco, it is epic! The Carnitas tacos were very good, and the special they had the day we were there was Surf & Turf and it was fabulous! If you love tequila then you like the drinks at Holy Taco! My friend had a margarita and said it great, I can't drink tequila since my honeymoon almost 25 years ago lol, so I had that white peach sangria which was fabulous!!! My only other suggestion is to make sure you take a look at some photos of the outside of restaurant because they don't have signage up yet and I was not 100% sure I was in the right parking lot. I will definitely be going back!

Yelp
Finally got to try this amazing place and it did not disappoint at all! It's small yet there's a happy vibe all around it. We sat outside as it was a beautiful day and the weather, ambience, people everything was great. They have a small menu that delivers in taste! Being vegeterian we were bummed that there's only 1 option (brussel sprout tacos). However the server (who also happened to be vegeterian) suggested we try any of the other tacos and replace meat with refried black beans(yay!). So we ordered a brussel sprout tacos and Gringo taco(with refried black beans). Firstly refried beans were not the regular pinto beans they were black beans kinda smashed together and it was delicious!! We ordered 4 more gringo and brussel sprout tacos(we were too hungry and food was really good haha). Brussel sprout tacos were amazing. The brussel sprouts were crisp like chips providing a great texture to the taco. Along we this we did chips with corn and queso dip. Chips are not the traditional nacho chips that you get everyone else , these were with spices. Both were really good! They don't have a menu for kids, but they were more than happy to make cheese quesadilla for my kiddo and we had to order one more as he loved it! We also had the margarita and mexican mule! Both of them were really good! The staff is really nice and sweet. They kept checking in often. We did meet the owner who very sweetly was going around to ensure that everyone got what they wanted and were having a good time. Overall it's a great place. Yes, would love for them to have more vegeterian options. We'll be visiting again!

Yelp
The drinks are amazing. I had the regular margarita and spicy margarita. The regular was a little sweet but hey it's a margarita, right? I had one chicken and one pork taco, and they were meh. Kinda dry. Underwhelmed by the food, but truly cannot praise the drinks enough.

Yelp
Love! My family of four loved our meals here! From the salsa, and chips... all the way to the brussel sprout taco. The service was great, and we loved the patio. Great place to stop for an evening meal after ball, or just for a light meal. We will definitely be back!

Sarah T.

Yelp
Let me preface this by saying: I like sweet alcoholic dinks. The only wine I like is moscato (ugh I know!). I am also a lite weight with alcohol. I typically can not drink more than 1 drink or I am too buzzed. The margaritas here are far too sweet, they are almost undrinkable. The first time I came here I had 2 (from a pitcher) and I didn't even get buzzed. The second time I came here we just ordered one drink rather than a pitcher thinking that was the problem. No, it tasted the same overly sweet drink. I asked the bartender to help fix the drink so it wasn't so sweet. She was unable to do so because they are all premade in bulk earlier in the day. So I bought a shot of tequila to change the drink = $16 for 1 revised margarita. Holy Taco, please revamp the margarita ingredient ratios. I would even pay $2 more for this drink for it to be stronger and less sweet. Tacos are great!

Kevin Y.

Yelp
Mediocre food and VERY slow service. Tried a variety of tacos and there were just ok. Salsa and guacamole was average at best. Drinks were good but no where near enough to offset the bland food and slow service.

Stacey R.

Yelp
Poor service, sat for over fifteen minutes and absolutely no acknowledgment! Not busy inside about four tables outside. We were looking forward to trying it out will not hurry back. No sign other than address number must not be to concerned with filling the restaurant and perhaps you have to be a local to get service!

Jan C.

Yelp
No no no!!! Get margaritas not the food! Margarita great- tacos looks like appetizers. Very spicy! Cute place! The photos are not what the tacos really look like!

Jane D.

Yelp
Lots of potential here if they would expand the menu just a bit. Great jalapeño margaritas and tasty tacos with attentive service the first time we went. Tried again but couldn't get any food because the cooks had gone home early due to air conditioning problems. Bummer.

Scott G.

Yelp
Choose your taco carefully. The ground beef and fish were a complete disappointment. Others had the chicken and shrimp which looked good and they enjoyed. More work to be done here. Hopefully they consider menu changes frequently, otherwise we won't be back.

Beth S.

Yelp
Staff was fantastic. Atmosphere was loud but enjoyable. The food was mediocre at best. Spicy salsa was tomato paste based. Guacamole was bland. We had the Carnitas, steak, shrimp, and gringo tacos. Carnitas was dry, steak was cold. The shrimp taco good. And the gringo taco tasted exactly like tacos made at home. Ultimately this just made me miss nonla taqueria. We will not be returning.
