The 13 Best Spots for Meat on a Stick in San Francisco | Eater SF

"House of Thai is a Tenderloin standby for quick, flavorful plates that strike a balance between heat and comfort. Chicken satay skewers come lightly marinated, served with peanut sauce and cucumber salad. The satay makes an easy starter before moving on to pad kee mao or green curry, and the portions don’t disappoint." - Antony Fangary

I'm a sauce connoisseur and when I heard about this spot having some dangerously addicting and flavorful sauce, I knew I had to try it. Initially I thought, how good can it be? When I tried it, the flavors and everything really blew my mind. It's tangy, garlicy, and fresh. Comes with spicy chicharrones as a topping. Highly recommend the Sliced Beef Noodles (Dry)! 11.28.2025 | Thursday @2:26pm

Super yummyyyyyy! It honestly feels just like being back in Thailand. 🥹💖 I especially love the chicken noodles!! My friend’s on team beef, but I’m 10000% team chicken💥 I also came right when the shop opened and got a free sample of THAI TEA, and I absolutely loved it. A must-tryyy!!! 🔥🔥🔥

Google
I recently tried the Crispy Chicken Rice at Holyshred noodle, and it was fantastic! It's one of their new features, and I highly recommend it. The chicken was perfectly crispy, and the best part was the spicy and sour sauce—it was the perfect match for the rice. Great flavor and a very satisfying meal!

Google
Really tasty noodles! We got the beef and the chicken - they’re pretty different so was nice to have both 😄 super flavorful, well cooked, and great price Would definitely recommend, especially if you’re looking for a quick bite

Google
The beef noodles paired so well with the Thai tea! They told me it’s a popular dish in Thailand right now, definitely exceeded expectations!

One of the most popular Thai dishes to arrive in the Bay Area! The noodles are packed with flavor, and the pork crackling is fiery and addictive - I just couldn’t stop eating it!

Yelp
Ambiance Take out only Just a heads up for people going there! Took a cab going there expecting a restaurant to eat at, but that was definitely a suprise Food A+ Best shredded chicken noodles I've ever had Definitely recommend tasting the spicy sauce first to put it to taste! Put it all and it definitely was a surprise! Haha.. though it was still definitely good The Thai Tea was also one of the best I've ever had Customer Service A+ Super friendly and sweet

Yelp
I haven't had such good noodle dishes like this in a long time. I would say i'm team chicken at the moment but their beef one is so soft and savory, I truly enjoyed my experience here. Price is affordable and portion is huge, keep me full for almost a whole day! Staff is really friendly and attentive during my visit. He brought the food out and gave us a brief explanation of each dish. I got fried tofu for appetizer, it was crunchy on the outside, soft inside, came with a lot of spicy fried shallot and i can taste a little bit of dried chilly flakes and lemongrass. Chicken noodle packed with shredded chicken and their vinegar white sauce goes so well with it!! Beef noodle is a little more savory and their beef was soft and tender, i dont know how they make the beef taste so good like that, the green sauce came with it was spicy and have a nice kick with it. Each dishes came with the a small bag of spicy chicharron bits to enhance the flavors even more, love it so much!! Thai tea also good, the server also gave me a cup of ice together with it! Store is pretty small, so it would be better if you order for to go but i decided to dine in and they have a few high chairs that could fit up to 4 people! From the outside, their store sign said What the cluck(?) but the decal in the front windows is HolyShred, it was a little bit confusing lol. Overall i love my first time experience with HolyShred, will comeback to try more items, I saw pad thai and fried chicken with rice on the tablet and those will be my next targets for future visit!!

Yelp
I'm so happy to see a new restaurant in the Tenderloin. HolyShred took over the space that used to be What the Cluck. And though it is another Thai place in an area where there is a high concentration of Thai restaurants, HolyShred offers something different. According to their website, they offer noodles that are popular, cult-favorites in the Thai street food scene. Since I can't eat beef, I got their chicken noodles (mee gai cheek) that came with a pack of spicy chicharron. And wow, these flavors are bold! It was tangy, spicy, garlicky, and sweet. And yet, they balanced each other harmoniously. I also loved the soft textures of the chicken and vermicelli noodles against the crunchiness of the chicharron and lettuce. And I could have more of the sauce because it's so yummy. I spoke with one of the employees as I waited for my order (it's fast-casual but everything is still made to order), and he was so nice! He explained their concept and asked about my food preferences. I told him about the neighborhood and showed him some Insta accounts that promote the TL. It's very limited seating inside with just bar seating. I got mine to go, but I can imagine dining in on a First Thursdays night, which is a self-guided walking tour of the TL's art scene where galleries open their space. They'll have Pad Thai on the menu soon if you want something more familiar. But don't sleep on the noodles they currently have!

Yelp
Ordered the chicken noodle for delivery. Large portions at a great price and very tasty! Lots of flavor for a relatively simple dish. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Came on a Friday and service was very quick. Got my order in less than 5 minutes. Tried their shredded chicken noodle and sliced beef noodles. The chicken noodle was on the sweeter side. I prefer the beef one more. Highly recommend if you're nearby!

Yelp
I ordered food delivery from here. It was the first time I came across this place on Uber Eats and I decided to give it a try. I think they're fairly new, so they had a BOGO promo. I had the hatyai crispy chicken rice and shredded chicken noodles, and both were equally delicious. The portion seems good for the price. The chicken was seasoned well and tender, side salad was fresh, rice was fluffy, and vermicelli had a good bite. They also provided crispy chicharron to go with the dishes, which took it to the next level. I appreciate the quality of these Thai street food. The spice level of the dishes were fairly mild for me (an asian), but for those who can't handle spicy food, they have the sauces set aside in separate cups. I feel the sauce with the chili seeds that goes with the side salad of the hatyai crispy chicken rice was spicier (enough to decongest, but not break out in a sweat) than the sweet chili sauce (which is only a tad bit spicy).

Yelp
Just tried this brand-new Thai spot in the heart of the Tenderloin -- Holy Shred -- and wow, what a pleasant surprise! I ordered the shredded chicken noodles, and they absolutely nailed it. The sauce was rich and flavorful with just the right balance of spice and sweetness. The spicy chicharrón on top added an amazing crunch and kick -- something I didn't even know I needed in Thai food until now. I also tried the beef option, and the meat was incredibly tender -- you can tell they take their time prepping it. Everything tasted fresh and made with care. To top it off, their Thai tea was spectacular -- creamy, perfectly sweet, and super refreshing after the spice. It's awesome seeing a spot like this open up in the Tenderloin. Definitely worth checking out before it blows up! Service was quick. Welcoming environment. Must-try: Shredded chicken noodles with spicy chicharrón Don't skip: The Thai tea!

Yelp
Went on Sunday afternoon (1pm or so), no wait. Ordered the main 2 items + drink -sliced beef noodle dry -shredded chicken noodle dry -thai tea Looks plain but worth trying as it is anything but plain. Thinner vermicelli noodle and is cooked perfectly. Has a nice bouncy texture so it did not break apart even after warming it up for a few seconds as recommended. Fried pork bits are a good addition for different texture. For sensitive teeth, be warned, some pieces were hard to chew. Chicken dry noodle -Subtle similar taste to vietnamese vermicelli. But not entirely. Chicken seems to be dark meat so not dry AT ALL. Very refreshing and flavorful. But it did get a little sweeter the more i ate it. But this is very delicious and a must try. Taste very refreshing and would get this again. Beef dish is savory and spicy. Has a subtle soy sauce flavor from the noodles so this is much more savory and salty conpared to the chicken dish. If you want more salty, spicy, herby flavor, get this. Meat has nice soft texture and was not tough at all. Thai tea - won't recommend. Taste too sweet from condensed milk and cannot taste the tea. Didn't taste refreshing and I wouldn't get this again :(

Yelp
my new favorite thai street food spot in sf! they are new and trying out different menu items. i love the beef short rib green curry, it was so tender and fell right off the bone. the flavor was incredible and decent portion size for the price too. i also love the crispy chicken with noodles, but you can't go wrong with any item here!

Yelp
Noodles are very yummy and excellent price. My 4th order today Delivery service is great. Will order more. My trick is to squeeze lemon or lime juice on top. It is like dry Tom yum noodles. Waiting for my order today!!!

Yelp
The food is so simple but so good. Can't wait to include this in our regular rotation of takeout or pickup. Not much seating indoors but it's more of a to go kinda spot. 10/10 would go again

Yelp
Food was tasty and the portion was perfect for me. I'm surprised how quickly the neighborhood restaurants go bad. What used to be my go-to's lack the amazing food and service. Finding someplace new that wants your business, and is good, remarkable. This is some kind of small chain, I'll take it. Just the place to go for a very reasonably priced quick meal. Few item selections, that's fine, I hope they can survive this spot.

Yelp
The shredded chicken noodles were amazing!! And it went so well with the Thai tea. The staff was so nice as well, super warm and welcoming! food was fast, would recommend!

Yelp
Soooo freaking good!! I had the beef noodle! So much favor. Perfect spice! Can't wait to try the chicken and pad thai :)

Yelp
Gave this place a try on doordash when they were doing bogo this past week. So glad I did because the shredded chicken noodle was delicious. If you're a fan of fish sauce, you'll love this. If you're not a fan of fish sauce, you'll love the beef noodle. Can't wait to try their other options!
